Send us Fan Mail✅Learn Trading In-Person from me 1-on-1: https://form.typeform.com/to/O1Yiz8LXThis is the honest reality of my trading journey. Most people see the profits but ignore the struggle. I began with the basics of personal finance before attempting to trade full-time. My path was far from smooth, marked by significant setbacks including an $11,000 loss during 2020 that nearly ended my progress. At my lowest point, I was living in an office just to stay afloat, which forced me to reevaluate my entire approach to risk and consistency.Don't miss our next big trading conference in Los Angeles on October 12, 2026 ft. Keep winning! Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Attorney S. Diane Clair. A Georgia-based attorney, real estate law professor at Kennesaw State University, and founder of a law practice specializing in real estate, estate planning, probate, business, and contract law. The discussion focuses on wealth building through real estate investing, asset protection, and estate planning strategies for generational wealth. [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] Purpose of the Interview The primary purpose of the interview was to: Educate listeners about real estate investing opportunities, including lesser-known strategies such as tax liens and tax deeds. [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] Stress the importance of working with qualified legal professionals instead of relying on Google, social media, AI tools, or generic legal templates. [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] Promote wealth preservation through estate planning, particularly trusts and business structures. [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] Encourage minority communities to create estate plans and pass wealth to future generations. [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] Key Takeaways 1. Don't Rely Solely on Google, Social Media, or AI for Legal Advice Clair warns that many individuals attempt to create wills, trusts, and legal documents online without professional guidance. She emphasizes that legal matters require experienced attorneys because AI and internet sources may provide incomplete or incorrect information. [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] Why it Matters Legal mistakes can create costly problems later. AI-generated content can be inaccurate. Estate planning and real estate transactions require professional review. [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] 2. Real Estate Is a Powerful Wealth-Building Tool Clair argues that real estate remains one of the strongest ways to build and transfer wealth between generations. She highlights its relative stability compared to stock market fluctuations. [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] Benefits Mentioned Builds long-term wealth Generates passive income Creates assets that can be inherited Helps achieve financial freedom [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] 3. Start Real Estate Investing Through a Business Entity One of Clair's first recommendations is to establish a legal business structure before purchasing investment properties. Recommended Structures LLC Corporation Other formal business entities [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] She repeatedly stresses that investment assets ideally should not be owned in an individual's personal name. [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] 4. You Don't Need Large Amounts of Money to Invest A major myth she debunks is that real estate investing requires significant capital. Entry-Level Strategies Tax liens Tax deeds Foreclosure purchases Fix-and-flip projects Rental properties [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] According to Clair, investors can begin with relatively small amounts by purchasing tax liens and earning interest when property owners redeem them. [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] 5. Estate Planning Is Largely Ignored Clair shares a startling statistic: Approximately 64% of Americans do not have an estate plan. Among minorities, that number rises to about 70%. [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] She believes the problem is educational rather than financial, noting that even wealthy celebrities frequently fail to plan their estates. [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] 6. Trusts Are Better Than Wills for Many Situations Clair strongly favors trusts, especially irrevocable trusts, as vehicles for preserving wealth. Advantages of Trusts Avoid probate Potential tax benefits Asset protection Easier transfer of wealth Can operate while the creator is still alive [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] Difference Between a Will and a Trust Will Takes effect after death Goes through probate court Directs distribution of assets [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] Trust Can function during the owner's lifetime Avoids probate Can provide stronger protection and tax advantages [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] 7. Asset Protection Is Essential Clair explains that trusts can own: Real estate Bank accounts Businesses Investments Other valuable assets [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] Because the trust, rather than the individual, owns the property, there can be additional protection from lawsuits and claims. [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] Notable Quotes On Legal Services Beyond Personal Injury Law "You can hire lawyers for way more, and we can assist you in way more." [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] On Using AI for Legal Matters "AI is not really something you want to trust... It creates and makes up stuff." [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] On Professional Guidance "You want to book a consultation with an attorney." [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] On Real Estate Investing "A lot of people have that misconception that you have to have a lot of money to start investing in real estate, and that's not true." [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] On Generational Wealth "Real estate is something that is the best thing to invest in and pass down to future generations." [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] On Estate Planning "This is not a money thing... It's an education thing." [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] On Trusts "The best estate planning instrument is always going to be a trust." [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] On Asset Ownership "Don't have anything in your own name, have it in the name of the trust or in the business." [S. DIANE CLAIR | Txt] Overall Message Attorney Diane Clair's central message is that wealth creation and wealth preservation must work together. Building assets through real estate is important, but equally important is protecting those assets through proper business structures, trusts, estate planning, and professional legal guidance. The interview encourages listeners, especially entrepreneurs and minority communities, to think long term about generational wealth, asset protection, and financial legacy rather than short-term gains. FROM THE H2H VAULT: On June 27, 1977, one of Minnesota's grandest mansions became the scene of a brutal double murder. Inside Glensheen, the sprawling Congdon family estate overlooking Lake Superior in Duluth, 83-year-old heiress Elisabeth Congdon was found smothered in her bed. Her night nurse, Velma Pietila, had been beaten to death nearby. What followed was a sensational investigation involving family money, inheritance, an adopted daughter with a troubled history, and the son-in-law prosecutors believed was willing to kill for a fortune. Suspicion soon centered on Elisabeth's adopted daughter, Marjorie Congdon Caldwell, and Marjorie's husband, Roger Caldwell. Roger was convicted of murdering Elisabeth and Velma, but his conviction was later overturned. Marjorie was tried separately—and acquitted. Years later, Roger would plead guilty to the killings, while questions surrounding exactly what happened inside Glensheen that night continued to haunt the case. This is the story of Elisabeth Congdon and Velma Pietila, the extraordinary Congdon fortune, and the 1977 Glensheen Mansion murders—a case filled with wealth, family dysfunction, courtroom drama, and a legacy that remains inseparable from one of Minnesota's most famous homes. What actually is a dollar? Not what you think it should be — what it actually is, right now, in the modern economy. Andy Tanner sits down with Professor J.W. Mason, heterodox economist and author of Against Money, for one of the most thought-provoking conversations in the show's history. They cover how money works as a social technology, why the Fed's "money printing" after 2008 didn't cause inflation — and why the COVID stimulus did, the real story behind Weimar-style hyperinflation, and why understanding what a dollar is might be the most important thing an investor can learn. This isn't an episode about which policy is right. It's about understanding the rules of the game well enough to play it — regardless of who's making the calls. If you're going to buy assets that produce dollars, you'd better know what a dollar actually is.

Host Robin Wigglesworth speaks to Pulitzer Prize-winning author Liaquat Ahamed about how the resulting economic malaise fuelled social division and transformed old prejudices into antisemitic conspiracy. If you've ever lost everything (a business, a marriage, your sense of who you are) this conversation is proof that the collapse isn't the end of your story. Rick Trimmer walks through the exact math he and his wife used to climb out of $640,000 in debt: the thousand-day stretch with no pay, the decade of living on a thousand dollars a month, and the brutal conversations he had with himself and his wife about what they actually wanted. If you're in the hole right now, or you're scared of ever being in it, this is the blueprint for how a man digs out without excuses and without quitting on his family. But this isn't just a comeback story; it's a lesson in delayed gratification and what winning the game really looks like. We'll cover how to build passive income, take advantage of opportunities that scare you, and chose freedom over the appearance of success. If you're tired of chasing a lifestyle you can't afford, or you're ready to start building something that actually lasts, this conversation gives you the mindset and the moves to get there. There were no flashy edits or celebrities, just visits with locals talking about their home, and his Ukraine series quickly gained an online following in that country. When the pandemic hit, Peter moved home to the United States and wondered if his formula could work there too – and that's when his audience really exploded. Rich Morgan graduated from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998, completed his residency at NYU Rusk Medical Center in 2002, and had everything a decade of medical school and training was supposed to produce — until a common dental procedure exposed him to opioids and changed the direction of everything he had spent his career building. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, he shares what the ten year opioid addiction that followed that dental procedure actually looked like, what writing fraudulent prescriptions to pharmacies to fuel his addiction and eventually selling prescriptions to drug dealers actually involved, what getting caught after a customer cooperated with the government actually felt like, and what being sentenced to 168 months in federal prison as a doctor — and navigating the federal system as a Jewish inmate — actually required of him before he was finally ready to rebuild what the addiction and the federal system had taken. _____________________________________________ #doctor #prison #truecrimestories _____________________________________________ Thank you to HIMS & FACTOR for sponsoring this episode: Hims: Visit https://hims.com/lockedin to get a personalized, affordable plan that gets you. _____________________________________________ Factor: Head to https://factormeals.com/lockedin50off and use code lockedin50off to get 50 percent off and 1 free breakfast item per box for 1 year, while supplies last until! _____________________________________________ Connect with Rich Morgan: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/richmorgan8761/?hl=en LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/richard-morgan-b45366143 _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Timestamps:  00:00 Introducing Rich Morgan 00:16 Growing Up on Long Island 01:04 Parents and Early Life 01:51 Dreaming of Medicine 02:17 The Incident That Inspired Him 03:33 Fascination with Fixing 04:33 Medical Shows and College 05:31 College and Med School 06:18 What is a DO? 08:46 DO vs MD Schooling 09:57 The Growing Prevalence of DOs 11:05 Salary and Residency 12:15 The First Pill 14:09 The Spiral Begins 15:12 The First Pill Experience 17:19 Dentists and Overprescription 19:30 Writing Himself Prescriptions 21:39 Life at the Height of Addiction 23:12 9/11 and Its Impact 26:10 Sponsor Break: Weight Loss by HIMS 27:33 No Oversight in Hospitals 28:56 Pharmaceutical Wild West 31:16 Self-Image and Dope Sickness 33:16 Patients and Slipping Up 38:53 The Deal with a Dangerous Patient 40:49 Arrest and the Fallout 44:00 Sponsor Break: Factor Meals 46:01 Released on Bail 49:01 Sentenced to 14 Years 52:32 Why No Manslaughter Charge? 56:56 The Real Reason for Selling 58:05 Wife's Reaction and Family Drama 01:01:50 Comparing Sentences: Jared Fogle 01:02:39 Meeting Mobsters in Prison 01:04:33 Father's Support 01:06:06 First Stop: Transfer to Prison 01:07:40 Life at Morgantown 01:12:44 Pedophiles in Prison 01:16:51 Respect as the Doctor 01:20:05 Medical Care in Prison 01:23:24 Jewish Power in the Federal System 01:27:00 Power of the Jewish Community 01:28:25 Money and Influence Behind the Scenes 01:31:03 Taking Advantage of Religious Rights 01:33:52 Smuggling and Prison Life 01:37:08 What Happened to His Medical License 01:43:13 A New Career at His Med School 01:48:49 A Bad First Date 01:51:15 Inmate Dating and Visiting Lists 01:56:40 Final Thoughts and Thanks _____________________________________________  To advertise on the show, contact sales@advertisecast.com or visit https://advertising.libsyn.com/LockedInWithIanBicka

228: The One Question that Eliminates Money Worry for Good with Jesse Mecham, Founder of YNAB

What if becoming "good with money" had less to do with spending less—and everything to do with learning how to spend well? In this episode, I'm joined by Jesse Mecham, founder of the budgeting software YNAB and author of the new book Never Worry About Money Again. Jesse has helped millions of people change their relationship with money, and his approach challenges much of what traditional personal finance has taught us. The central idea is simple but powerful: Money is meant to be spent. Every money decision is ultimately a spending decision. Saving is spending later. Investing is spending much later. Giving money away means choosing what mission or person will spend it next. So instead of asking whether spending is good or bad, Jesse encourages us to ask one three-word question: What's it for? That question helps you move away from guilt, deprivation, and financial confusion—and toward clarity, confidence, and intentional spending. In this conversation, we discuss: Why being good with money is a learnable skill What Jesse means when he says "your money is you" Why earning more does not automatically eliminate money worry How restrictive budgeting can make you feel trapped rather than empowered Why there is rarely such a thing as a truly "surprise" expense How to stop living paycheck to paycheck by getting one month ahead Why your spending should reflect your values, personality, and current season of life The difference between spending based on social expectations and spending authentically Why more money only amplifies the spending habits you already have How to spend money you actually have instead of relying on future income If you earn good money but still experience the constant low-grade hum of financial stress, this episode will help you rethink what's actually causing it. You may not need more money. You may need to decide what the money you already have is for. Learn more about Jesse's new book here. Start your free 34-day trial with YNAB here.

The Rickey Smiley Morning Show covered a mix of entertainment, culture, and headline-making news, starting with reports that Jaafar Jackson is allegedly seeking a larger payday to return as Michael Jackson in a planned sequel to the blockbuster film Michael. Entertainment reports say the movie has surpassed $1 billion globally, becoming one of the most successful music biopics ever and fueling discussions about Jackson's compensation moving forward. The crew also discussed rumors that EJ Johnson, son of NBA legend Magic Johnson, could be headed to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as a friend of the cast or potentially in a history-making role within the franchise. Meanwhile, comedy legend Bill Bellamy joined the show to reflect on his decades-long career, memorable interviews with icons like Michael Jackson and Tupac, and his upcoming recognition with the 2026 Icon Award at Chicago’s What's Funny Comedy Festival. The show also tackled a growing national debate over childhood vaccinations after doctors and medical organizations pushed back against a new federal proposal that would split the MMR vaccine into separate shots and alter the recommended vaccine schedule. Health experts cited in recent reports argue that decades of research continue to support the safety and effectiveness of the current vaccination schedule, while warning that changes could create confusion for families and leave more children vulnerable during a rise in measles cases. Elsewhere, the cast weighed in on the latest developments in the Tupac Shakur murder case as jury selection began for Duane “Keefe D” Davis, shared reactions to a heartwarming viral story involving Michael B. Jordan surprising an 89-year-old fan who proudly displayed his photo alongside her grandchildren, and delivered their signature mix of laughs, celebrity tea, and lively conversation. A lot of the way we handle money did not start with us. It started with what we saw, heard, absorbed, and were taught to believe about saving, spending, investing, asking for help, wanting more, and talking about money. In this episode, Shari breaks down the money scripts many women inherit — and how those old beliefs can quietly shape financial decisions for years. You'll hear how messages like “good women don't talk about money,” “security means keeping cash,” “spending on myself is selfish,” “I should be able to figure this out alone,” and “wanting more makes me greedy” can affect the way you manage money today. This episode is not about blaming your past. It is about noticing which beliefs are still serving you — and which ones need to be rewritten. Because money should not be managed by scripts you never chose. Money should be a tool that helps you live life on your terms. Chantell Preston has spent more than 25 years building, scaling, and transforming businesses in healthcare. After leaving the corporate world and building her own successful career, she became passionate about empowering women to redefine success on their own terms. She is the author of The Success Lie: Reframing Your Reality to Thrive Personally and Professionally and recently invested in women's professional sports by purchasing a women's professional volleyball team in San Francisco. In this episode, Chantell shares how betting on herself, building the right network, and becoming intentional with her time helped her create a career—and life—that actually feels fulfilling. On this episode we talk about: Why who you know can be more valuable than what you know—and how to build meaningful relationships Chantell's decision to leave the corporate world and build her own healthcare business The pressure women face to be “perfect” and how to redefine success on your own terms How saying yes to everything can actually prevent you from reaching your goals Balancing entrepreneurship, purpose, and family without sacrificing the things that matter most Why failure and setbacks can become some of your greatest opportunities Top 3 Takeaways Bet on yourself and figure things out along the way. You don't have to know everything before taking an opportunity. Sometimes you simply need to put yourself in the right room and trust that you can learn what you need to know. Define success for yourself. Money and titles can be great goals, but achieving them doesn't necessarily mean you'll feel fulfilled. Get intentional about what success actually means to you and where you want to spend your time. Focus on quality over quantity with your time. Whether it's your career, relationships, or family, being intentional and emotionally present can matter far more than simply being physically present. Notable Quotes “I would bet on myself every day and twice on Saturday so I could figure things out.” “A yes is a no to something else.” “If we're not failing, we're not trying hard enough.” Connect with Chantell Preston: Instagram: @chantell_preston Website: ChantellPreston.com Podcast: Get Real Get Results Book: The Success Lie: Reframing Your Reality to Thrive Personally and Professionally A Word from Our Sponsors: - Go to Leesa.com for 25% OFF select mattresses (through August 23, 2026) PLUS get an extra $50 off with promo code TMM, exclusive for my listeners  Learn more about your ad choices. Roberta Ravella spent 25 years in mortgage origination. She was good at it. She was also, by her own account, a classic case of burnout. She tried coaching. She tried marketing. She even opened an AI business with a friend. Two months in, something in her said no, and she couldn't push past it the way she used to. So she stopped. Her mentor sent her on a six-week break with one rule: shut it all off. What Roberta found on the other side of that break is what she now calls The Joy Experiment. This conversation is about what it took to get there, and what her mornings look like now that she's arrived.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN  Why Roberta calls her old business model "golden bricks" she couldn't build anything out of The real difference between a priority and an energetic value, and why mixing them up keeps you stuck How years of chronic stomach pain led Roberta to nervous system work she didn't know she needed Why she says "your definition of easy needs to grow up," and what that looks like in practice Why joy doesn't have to be something you earn at the end of a long to-do list   ROBERTA'S FREE GIFT FOR GAME ON GIRLFRIEND® LISTENERS Roberta's book, Open for Business: How To Build A Business You Love Without The Hustle And Grind, will be free on Kindle for 10 days starting on this episode's publish date of August 11, 2026.
