The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Show (10/09/2025): 3:05pm- New Jersey Gubernatorial Race: On Wednesday, Republican businessman Jack Ciattarelli and Democratic Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill went head-to-head in their second and final debate before election day on November 4th. 3:30pm- Congressman Dan Meuser—Representative for Pennsylvania's 9th Congressional District—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss the ongoing government shutdown and the historical Gaza peace agreement the Trump Administration has brokered between Israel and Hamas. 3:50pm- The Phillies defeated the Dodgers 8-1 last night—keeping their season alive. But Matt reveals he wasn't watching the game. Instead, he was watching Daniel Day-Lewis's new film, “Anemone.” Justin believes this is further proof that Matt is an “Ivy League weirdo.” Plus, during last night's debate, Mikie Sherrill mentioned President Trump over a dozen times! 4:05pm- Complete Embarrassment: Far-left Katie Porter—the front runner to become the next Governor of California in 2026—had a complete meltdown after a CBS reporter asked her about her strategy for winning bipartisan support. Porter insisted she didn't need the support of Trump voters and then abruptly ended the interview—explicitly complaining about being asked too many “follow up” questions. Porter, a former congresswoman and accolade of Elizabeth Warren, lost her 2024 race for U.S. Senate. Now a new video has surfaced of her screaming and cursing at a staffer! Plus, who was a worse Batman—Porter (who dressed up as the Gotham superhero for Halloween) or Ben Affleck? It's close. 4:30pm- On Thursday, President Donald Trump held a cabinet meeting where he signed a proclamation preserving Columbus Day—stating: “Columbus Day—We're Back, Italians!” 4:45pm- New Jersey Gubernatorial Race: On Wednesday, Republican businessman Jack Ciattarelli and Democratic Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill went head-to-head in their second and final debate before election day on November 4th. During one notable moment, Ciattarelli pledged that his top priority as governor will be to provide tax relief for New Jersey residents—meanwhile, Sherrill said her top priority would be suing the Trump administration. 5:00pm- During last night's gubernatorial debate, Jack Ciattarelli called out Mikie Sherrill for not being transparent about why she wasn't allowed to walk at her Naval Academy graduation ceremony. A montage reveals that she has changed her story about the Naval Academy cheating scandal three or four times since September 26th! 5:15pm- Breaking News: New York Attorney General Letitia James has been indicted by the Department of Justice for mortgage fraud. 5:30pm- Abbreviated Show: Listen to the Philadelphia Phillies on 1210 WPHT!

When Francis Ford Coppola shoots you an email asking you to transform his new movie into a comic book, you say yes and worry about the details later. Chris Ryall got the email. Once he got over the shock ot it, he immediately knew who to contact next: Comic Book Couples Counseling regular, Jacob Phillips. They couldn't have possibly understood what an undertaking they were committing to during those early days, but nearly five years later, they have the Megalopolisgraphic novel in their hands. It's something special. As you'll hear on this week's podcast, Francis Ford Coppola wanted Ryall and Phillips to make the comic their own. If that meant chopping up the script or fabricating the designs, so be it. Jacob Phillips approaches the likenesses the way he would any corporate comic character. If he were on Batman, he'd do his version of Batman. So, he'd apply the same logic to Adam Driver. The actor is the design, but the pencils and inks belong to Phillips. The magic is in how the movie and the comic, crafted independently of each other, aligned so well together. Chatting with Ryall and Phillips allowed us to celebrate both artistic mediums. We discuss the challenges of translating cinematic ideas onto panels, the need for repertoire stories, and the hope within Francis Ford Coppola's humanism. Before all that, however, we also discuss the new documentary, Shopping for Superman. Directed by Wes Eastin, the film travels across America, from one comic book shop to another. It's a must-watch for every comic book reader, as it honors the industry while contemplating where it's all going in the wake of Diamond Comic Distributors' destruction. Megalopolis, the comic, is published by Abrams ComicArts and arrives in shops on October 7th. Make sure you're following Chris Ryall on his Substack, Instagram, and Blue Sky. Also, follow Jacob Phillips on Instagram and Blue Sky. This Week's Sponsors Launching this October, it's the latest entry in IDW Publishing's Kei-Sei line of Godzilla comics: Starship Godzilla, a cosmic adventure. It's written by award-winning scribe Chris Gooch (of In Utero fame) and illustrated by inventive artist Oliver Ono (I mean, come on, did you read their Godzilla: Monster Island Summer Camp? Insta-Classic). The Kai-Sei Era is the only ongoing Godzilla story of its kind, crafted for comics readers who have never bought a Godzilla book and Godzilla fans who have never read a comic. Starship Godzilla #1 is out now wherever rad comic books are sold. Judge Dredd Megazine turns thirty-five years old this October, and it'll be celebrating with a very special issue perfect for first-time readers! Featuring the return of the critically acclaimed series Dreadnoughts and Megalopolis, this 100-page issue is a brilliant way to jump into the crazy world of 2000 AD. You'll also find incredible new stories featuring Judge Dredd, Judge Anderson, and much more inside! In this dark and thrilling episode, I sit down with comics legends Matt Wagner and Kelley Jones to talk about their gothic team-up on a new Dracula graphic novel series — a fresh, nightmarish take on the Lord of the Undead that blends Hammer horror, classic literature, and modern comics craft. We also dive deep into their iconic Batman work. Matt Wagner reflects on his acclaimed retellings of the Dark Knight's formative years in Batman and the Monster Men and Batman and the Mad Monk, grounded updates of the original Detective Comics stories that shaped Gotham's early shadows. Meanwhile, Kelley Jones revisits his unforgettable Batman: Red Rain, a horror-infused Elseworlds classic that reimagines Batman as a literal creature of the night — a vampire battling Dracula himself. Plus: Kelley's eerie, emotional Deadman mini-series, their shared love of horror as mythmaking, and what it means to push iconic characters into darker, more psychological terrain. A must-listen for fans of Batman, monsters, and the art of gothic reinvention.

The Last Case of Detective Cole. Jacob Cole was only ten, but he had already made up his mind about his future: he was going to be the world's greatest detective, just like his dad—and, of course, like Batman. Every evening after dinner, he curled up in the corner of their small, log-walled living room with a detective comic in one hand and a notepad in the other. The next story on this episode is called Rosalyn's Revenge. Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Release Date & Cryptic Photo, DCU Batman Casting Wars, AI Actress INSANE Controversy — Greg Alba & Coy Jandreau go LIVE to break down the latest Marvel & DC news! The Russo Brothers just shared a mysterious “Look Hard…” photo from the Avengers: Doomsday (2026) set, teasing fans with hidden details while a major leak from SFX artist Gi Ponci revealed new suits for the X-Men (Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Gambit), Fantastic Four (Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm), Namor, Thor, Silver Surfer, and even Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. On top of that, reports say the Avengers: Doomsday trailer is coming this December, and Channing Tatum is hyping it up as the wildest Marvel movie yet — bigger than Blade's Deadpool & Wolverine cameo! Plus, Ryan Reynolds is reportedly developing his own mutants team-up movie for the MCU's next saga. Meanwhile in the DCU, everyone wants to be Batman — but who has actually gone on record? We'll run down the names fans are buzzing about, while James Gunn teased two unannounced movie scripts, one mystery TV project, and updates on Supergirl. In Marvel TV, Daredevil: Born Again writer Jesse Wigutow revealed a scrapped “bottle episode” pairing Punisher & Echo — would that have worked? Over on Max, Peacemaker Season 2 keeps building toward Superman: Man of Tomorrow and Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor, while fans still debate the AI actress Tilly Norwood controversy. And for other wild news: Universal is developing The Mummy 4 with hopes for Brendan Fraser's return (but will audiences embrace it or reject another “old man sequel”?), and Lionsgate is scripting a Samurai Western spin-off in the John Wick Universe. Should Wick expand or bow out gracefully? We're covering it all tonight. Join the Reject Nation as we react, speculate, and debate across the MCU, DCU, and beyond — from Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day to Gunn's DC plans, The Mummy 4, John Wick, and the future of comic book movies! We argued why The Batman stays Elseworlds, side-eyed a Catwoman spinoff, and poured one out for Colin Farrell's Emmy. Then we dunked on Peacemaker's Nazi-verse twist (and the Fortnite emote that got smoked), plus Bond going “unknown,” Tom Holland's concussion halt, and a totally normal detour into Denver Airport conspiracies. On this episode of Word Balloon, I sit down with writer Chip Zdarsky to dig into his bold, current run on Captain America. Chip explains his vision for the Star-Spangled Avenger, including the introduction of a new Cap born in the wake of 9/11, during the years when Steve Rogers was still frozen in ice. We also dive into his celebrated DC work on Batman, where he created the relentless Failsafe, repositioned Vandal Savage as a core Gotham villain, and shook up the city's status quo with a brand-new police commissioner. But that's just the start—Chip and I explore his Marvel catalog as well, from the gritty, character-driven drama of Daredevil to the cosmic and family-centered Marvel Two-In-One with the Thing and the Human Torch. And of course, we talk about his creator-owned stories, where he continues to push boundaries and surprise readers with inventive, personal storytelling.
