The Atomium is developing a series of temporary light and sound shows in various parts of the building. Currently there are four shows on display. The latest is Echoes of Distant Lights by Brussels light artist and founder of Magicstreet Antoine Goldchmidt, who worked with Brussels musician Ofer Smilansky to create a wonderland of lights and sounds using various sources and inspirations including the metallic structure of the Atomium and images sent to us by the Hubble and James Webb telescopes. The two artists tell us how they collaborated to achieve the result. www.atomium.be

De plenaire Kamer heeft niet kunnen stemmen over de voorstellen en ontwerpen die op de agenda stonden. Dat komt doordat er te weinig parlementsleden aanwezig waren. You get a tour of reproductions of the most famous monuments of each country in the EU. Explore the Cathedrals: Brussels is home to several beautiful cathedrals, including the Notre Dame du Sablon, Saint Michel, Notre Dame du Finistère, and the National Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Koekelberg. These churches offer a stunning display of Gothic architecture and are a must-see for any visitor.One of the things I love about Brussels is the train/bus/tram system. It feels similar to the underground in London or the subway in NYC. It's so easy to get around the city with public transportation!These are just a few of the top things to do in Brussels. The organizer later deleted the posts, which not only means that I can no longer get the prize money, but also that my work is no longer visible on the site. Therefore, I decided to make this post to showcase not only these flag designs, but also some other works I made for EA but hadn't posted on the forum before. Lastly I made a symbol for slack/scout-mindset and moloch/soldier-mindset: There is a balance between Moloch (which I think of as the forces of exploitation) and Slack (which I think of as the forces of exploration). Denken wir zurück an das Jahr 1883! In Chicago lädt die Weltausstellung und tausende Menschen staunen, als plötzlich das Gelände von endlosen elektrischen Glühbirnen illuminiert wird. Dieser Moment ist der finale Höhepunkt im „Strom-Battle“ rund um Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison und George Westinghouse und steht für die vielen Innovationen, die es in der Expo-Geschichte zum weltweiten Erfolg gebracht haben. Los ging alles 1851 in London und der englische Prinz Albert hatte die Idee, eine weltweite Industrieschau anzuregen und zu ermöglichen. Denn in den ersten Jahrzehnten der Weltausstellungen drehte sich alles um Industrialisierung und den technologischen Fortschritt. Proyecto que rompió moldes y arrebato las miradas de la joya arquitectónica de la Feria llamada Atomium y que hasta hace muy poquito se encontraba en total abandono. Řekne-li se Brusel, vybaví se většině lidí nejspíš Evropská unie. Možná i soška Manneken Pis: Čůrajícího chlapečka a možná budova renesanční radnice v centru města, nebo Atomium , symbol světové výstavy z roku 1958 a poválečného průmyslového boomu. Zhruba před 14 lety (2006) jsem v roli nového zpravodaje Českého rozhlasu poznával, že je Brusel mnohem zajímavější, než se může zdát. A poslal jsem o tom tuhle reportáž.

Am liebsten binden sich Menschen an Dinge, die ihnen sympathisch sind, für die sie Zuneigung empfinden.   Es dürfte auch weitgehende Einigkeit darüber herrschen, dass Menschen, die frei und verantwortungsvoll sind sowie Individuen, die selbstbewusst und humorvoll auch mit ihren Macken umgehen können, besonders sympathisch erscheinen. Wir fühlen mit ihnen, weil unsere implizite Aufmerksamkeit berührt wird. Man nennt dies den „Pull-Effekt“. Wir fühlen uns angezogen.   Noch wichtiger indes wäre es, von sich selbst angezogen zu sein, mit sich selbst zu fühlen, sich selbst nachzuvollziehen. Der Weg dorthin setzt einen ersten, schwierigen Schritt, den ‚Turnaround to myself‘, voraus.   Der Weg ist das Ziel Wenn wir diesen ersten Schritt getan haben, befinden wir uns schon auf der Via Regia, auf der Hauptstraße nach innen, dorthin, wo das Selbst sich befindet. Dort befinden sich die Markierungen und Gravuren, die uns vom eigenen Leben verabreicht worden sind.   Dabei dürfen wir nicht aus den Augen verlieren, dass der Sinn unserer Selbstfindung letztendlich die Erreichung eines Images ist, das sich aber in Reichweite des Bewusstseins befinden muss und nicht in irgendeiner narzisstischen Galaxie jenseits von Edeka.   Schließlich wollen wir es handhaben können. Wir sitzen am Steuer.   Als würde ein Raumschiff von Wolkenkuckucksheim aus zum Ort seines Ursprungs zurückschweben, so führt der Weg zur inneren Freiheit gleichzeitig zur immer stärker und stabiler werdenden Bindung an das eigene Selbst. Die Bestandteile des Persönlichkeitsselbst sind über ligandenartige Strukturen miteinander verbunden. Als veranschaulichendes Modell sei das Atomium in Brüssel genannt. Wer kennt es nicht?   Die Strukturmuster und die Stärke der Verbindungen sowie ihre Entfernungen voneinander sind von Mensch zu Mensch verschieden.   Mensch-Marke-Analogien Entsprechende Bindungsstrukturen finden sich auch bei der Marke. Es ist wie beim Menschen: Bindungen und Muster, bestehend aus Wünschen, Träumen, Visionen, Aversionen, Ideen und mehr. Sie ergeben die inneren Strukturen sowohl des Menschen als auch des Markenkonstrukts. Diese Struktur strahlt als Image nach außen und entfaltet Sogwirkung – oder auch nicht, je nachdem, ob es sich um eine starke oder um eine schwache Marke bzw. Persönlichkeit handelt.   Zurück zur Königsallee   Bevor wir uns also daran machen können, ein nach außen strahlendes Image zu entwerfen und zu entwickeln, müssen wir uns selbst kennenlernen und die nicht miteinander verbundenen Teile unseres Selbst zueinander in Beziehung setzen und miteinander verbinden, indem wir mit ihnen kommunizieren und sie dann miteinander kommunizieren lassen. Es verhält sich genau wie bei der Marke.   Diese Form von Selbstfindung ist so wichtig, weil wir ansonsten den Vorgehensweisen des Show- and Shine- Narzissten verfallen, die tatsächlich den Push-Verfahren der Werbung ähneln und die den Zweck haben, die Botschaften von Marken quasi in die Birne des Kunden zu hämmern.   Dort versucht man ja ganz bewusst, Wirkungssysteme zu entwickeln, auf die insbesondere die Signalrezeptoren der Triebsphäre ansprechen.   Um die Abläufe solcher die explizite Aufmerksamkeit stimulierender, sog. A new exhibition in the Atomium covers the airline from the beginning in the airport at Haren to the abrupt ending in 2001 with its development on four continents including a preeminent position in Africa and its extensive regional helicopter network in Europe. Culled meticulously from private and public collections are a great variety of original objects, several scale airplane models, uniforms, posters, photos, movies and some gadgets that immerse the visitor in the engaging 78 years of history. Special attention is paid to the leading players in this adventure, the over 10,000 employees who called themselves the Sabéniens, showing their commitment to the company. At the exhibit opening Richard Harris heard from some of these Sabéniens as they recounted the strong bonds they forged working for the airline when the S on the tail meant not only SABENA but also Service and Style. Weltausstellungen sind dafür da um technologischen Fortschritt zur Schau zu stellen und so werden meist auch spektakuläre Gebäude errichtet, die oft zum Wahrzeichen werden. Die Space Needle in Seattle oder der Eiffelturm sind prominente Beispiele. Oder eben das Atomium, das zur Expo 58 in Brüssel errichtet wurde.

17.04.1958: Eine "Bilanz der Welt für eine menschlichere Welt" wollte die Brüsseler Weltsaustellung bieten, als sie am 17. April 1958 eröffnet wurde. Und das obwohl die Bilanz der Welt nur wenige Jahre nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg kaum rosig aussehen konnte. Doch jetzt standen alle Zeichen auf Aufbruch. Vor allem das "Atomium" sollte für einen hoffnungsfrohen Neubeginn in ein friedliches Atomzeitalter stehen.
