A NDP majority was elected in 2015, and then in 2019 enough people voted for the UCP to give them a majority. Elections in different jurisdictions have shown that after each opposite direction election, many voters are left hanging with no home. Recent polls have shown that the UCP is having a hard time keeping voters, but not all are ready to vote NDP, so where do they go? The speaker will contend that at some point, Albertans may become tired of the instability of this back-and-forth undoing what the previous government did, only to have that repeat in the following election. The Alberta Party arguably occupies the center of Alberta politics, which is not far from the sentiment of most Albertans. Speaker: Barry Morishita, leader of the Alberta Party A long serving councilor and Mayor in the City of Brooks, Barry Morishita is well known in municipal government across the province having spent 7 years on the Board and Executive of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association becoming the association's longest serving President. His experiences traveling throughout the Province in this capacity & his passion for building communities earned him the Honorary Lifetime Membership from the AUMA. He retired from municipal politics in 2021 and soon moved into the provincial arena as the Leader of the Alberta Party. Barry is a proud Canadian of Japanese descent, married with two children & two grandchildren living in the City of 100 Hello's, Brooks, Alberta.

Today I'm proud to introduce you to Bay Area native and cannabis pioneer, Angela White, Equity for Industry Program Manager at Success Centers in San Francisco, California. A graduate of Oaksterdam University, Angela draws from trailblazing experience in cannabis entrepreneurship under California's Proposition 215 medical marijuana program and the recently implemented AUMA adult-use regulatory framework. Angela's first-hand knowledge of the many facets in day-to-day work performed at startups in the space—from cultivation and budtending, retail design and staffing, to dispatching drivers and office management—forms the foundation of her mentorship with aspiring new employees, businesses, and equity entrepreneurs.Currently Angela's focus is developing sustainable career and entrepreneurial paths previously less accessible to communities impacted by inequality and the War on Drugs. I loved speaking with Angela about the growth of the industry and success stories within her very own community, and learning from her deep wisdom of the wounds still healing from the War on Drugs. You will feel hopeful too, and grateful that people like Angela exist on this planet. In 1986, Alice Lakawena formed the Holy Spirit Mobile Force. Their goals were utopian and their tactics were nonviolent. But going up against rival armies in Uganda with hardly any weapons eventually led to mass casualties — and Alice was all too ready to blame them on her soldiers' lack of belief. In 1985, when Alice Auma was 29 years old, her life changed forever. The spirit Lakwena told her that she had to lead her followers to a new Uganda that was free from corruption. But in order to do that, she would need to create a holy army and take the country by force. Learn more about your ad choices.

She brings generations together, initiates dialogues and enables platforms to give young people a voice. What Can We Do To Get Rid of Hot Flashes OR Make Them Less Extreme The average age a woman goes through menopause is 51. Many women experience what they consider temperature changes such as getting warm and others as extreme as hot flashes and these can happen at a variety of ages, such as their '30s and even'70s. Before these fluctuations in temperature are labeled as hormonal related due to menopause there are some factors to rule out. One place to begin investigating is how well your thyroid is functioning, then, we look to lifestyle changes and stressors. And, before prescribing medicine we need to determine if there are alternatives such as some lifestyle changes you can implement. Even if you have an estrogen imbalance, there are still things you can do to reduce hot flashes before you even get to prescriptions. Some examples of lifestyle changes is reducing caffeine intake, reduce the amount you smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, and eat spicy and sugary foods. In addition to the municipal and Senate candidate elections, two referendum questions were added by the Alberta Government to the 2021 Municipal Elections: (1) Should section 36(2) of the Constitution Act, 1982 – Parliament and the government of Canada's commitment to the principle of making equalization payments – be removed from the constitution? (2) Do you want Alberta to adopt year-round Daylight-Saving Time, which is summer hours, eliminating the need to change our clocks twice a year? The first question can arguably be considered partisan in nature given the rhetoric around equalization provided by the governing UCP party and it may have enabled an altered focus of people running and voting on local issues. Besides that, what did the vote on equalization actually mean? Similarly, the vote for Senate appointments among the 13 candidates running may have been a futile exercise. Lethbridge added two extra questions on their ballot (1) Do you support using a ward system to elect City Councilors (other than the Mayor) starting with the 2025 municipal election? (2) Do you agree that city council should approve plans to construct a 3rd bridge prior to 2030 as a municipal capital project priority? These questions were front and center during election forums and will no doubt be hot items for Lethbridge City Council to wrestle with going forward. Typically, partisan politics play a rather small role in municipal politics & the speaker will recount his extensive experiences and concerns. He will also estimate what the election results could mean for Alberta & speculate on the wisdom of allowing Political Action Committees (PAC's) & more money into municipal politics. Speaker: Barry Morishita A long serving councilor and Mayor in the City of Brooks, Barry Morishita is well known in municipal government across the province having spent 7 years on the Board and Executive of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association becoming the associations longest serving President. His experiences traveling throughout the Province in this capacity & his passion for building communities earned him the Honorary Lifetime Membership from the AUMA. Suuri osa Suomen kallioperästä on tuhansia miljoonia vuotta vanhaa, mutta Kauhajoen ja Isojoen tienoilla sijaitsevassa Lauhavuoressa nuori hiekkakivi yllättää. Miten tämä suomalaiselle geologialle epätyypillinen 500-600 miljoonaa vuotta vanha hiekkakivi syntyi? Siitä tietää Lauhanvuori Hämeenkangas Unesco Geoparkin geologi Pasi Talvitie. Toimittaja Teija Peltoniemi tutustui Lauhavuoren erikoiseen geologiaan Talvitien kanssa. Yksi Lauhavuoren geologisia nähtävyyksiä on noin 800 metrin mittainen ja reilun sadan metrin levyinen pirunpelto eli kivijata. Valtava kivipelto on täynnä hiekkakiviä.

Chapter 8 is narrated by Winnie Auma, the Uganda Country Director for Village Enterprise. Village Enterprise is a charity recommended by the charity evaluator The Life You Can Save for its work in ending extreme poverty in rural Africa through entrepreneurship and innovation. In this chapter, Professor Singer acknowledges that parents love their own children more than the children of strangers. Citing examples, he argues that this does not justify prioritizing luxuries for one's own children ahead of the basic needs of other children. Hey there word nerds! Today I am delighted to have Dr. Eucabeth Odhiambo on the show! Eucabeth was born in Kenya and her gorgeous middle grade debut novel, Auma’s Long Run,is inspired by her memories growing up there as well as her own work experiences with children and educators affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa. I read a lot of books for this show and while I’m not supposed to pick any favorites, I have to say it’s not often that a book gets me this excited about the story and the meaning behind it. Listen in as we tease apart the many elements of Auma’s Long Run, and discuss the responsibility that comes along with writing an “own voices” novel. In this episode Eucabeth and I discuss: Crafting a strong female character young girls anywhere can relate to. Writing a sport centered middle grade novel with a female protagonist. Bringing life to a country and a culture through your characters. Dealing with the fear and responsibility of writing about things others have experienced. How fiction helps in getting over the hurdles of writing an “own voices” novel. Plus, Eucabeth’s #1 tip for writers. For more info and show notes: DIYMFA.com/187

Looking to know more about California's 2016 Prop 64 AKA AUMA, but tired of that tiny print? Well, let's have an Emergency Safety Meeting to discuss it! Worried about Big Tobacco or saving the children? Where do the taxes go, and who has the power? Well, by the end we'll have some of those of answers. Let's put their claim that they got it right to the test... we'll go section by section (some a little more closely than others), listen to some of the available Voter Information Guide audio, and make up our own damn minds. Because we are adults, dammit. Unless you're 18-20, in which case you're not yet adult enough to enjoy weed according to AUMA... Rock that vote! Thanks for rating and subscribing!
