Holy technical difficulties Batman! This week you get the intro twice cuz Dev's whole setup was just straight up broke, Delvin is talking nonsense and going back to his bench, while Donnie is making kids cry on Halloween. Oh and we talk video games at some point, and have a therapy session. This one was a really fun one and we hope you all enjoy it.
Predator: Badlands The Predator franchise has been long and incredibly varied in it's scope and quality. From the very first film which was, lets be fair, a macho man monster movie... to the ongoing saga that has been explored in Comics, Games, Movies and animation. The character of the Predator has crossed over with a massive range of other IP's from Batman and Judge Dredd to Archie (?!) and even the ENTIRE MARVEL UNIVERSE... But thus far we've never seen them as anything other than an antagonist. Well all that is about to change in Predator Badlands! Young Yautja hunter Dek is ready to take on the most deadly planet in the galaxy to prove himself to his family. He is going to need to learn a lot about working together with others to survive. Dion, Jill and Quinny are the Predators in this review, and they are hunting down a great film! Synopsis: Cast out from its clan, an alien hunter and an unlikely ally embark on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary. https://youtu.be/qucmg5g0zds A huge thank you to all the Predators and Prey who listen to each episode of the show while they hunt their next target... But also thank you, to those weird animals and deadly plants who join in on the live-chat during the Twitch stream this week, and every week! If you haven't done so before join us next week for our live show! Friend of the show and Patreon backer Matt McThorn is back this week, and he wanted to return to one of is earlier themes, with three more stories featuring Thomas Blake, the Bat rogue known as Catman. We get a 90s story featuring Catman and Ratcatcher from before Catman turned super cool under the pen of Gail Simone. Then we see Blake meet Huntress and try to come off as suave in a Birds of Prey vs. the Secret Six story. And we wrap up with Catman and Bane in Gotham during Battle for the Cowl, trying really hard to honor the memory of Batman. It goes about as well as you'd expect. The Secret of the Universe (Batman: Shadow of the Bat # 43-44, Catwoman V.2 # 26) Whitewater (Birds of Prey V.1 # 104-108) A Debt of Significant Blood (Secret Six V.3 # 9) Check out our current ranking list at www.comicsxf.com/batchat-rankings/ Thanks to Geri Nonnewitz for our podcast logo Support the show on Patreon at www.patreon.com/batchatwithmattandwill

Lance and Jeremy (The Geekly Grind) share their thoughts and takeaways from Darwyn Cooke and Dave Stewart's masterpiece. The New Frontier brilliantly serves as an allegory for social injustice and political change during the 1940s and 1950s in the United States, with an injection of the shifting comic landscape from the Golden to Silver Age. Godzilla Minus Zero needs Minus One's heart with a fresh kaiju threat. Crash Bandicoot looks game-authentic and family-friendly. King of the Hill gets a long runway; Bobby's adulthood could anchor future stories. Clayface leans into practical effects and horror that fits Reeves' Gotham. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow works best centered on Kara with smart flashbacks. Quotes "This doesn't feel like Goonies anymore. This feels like a finale." "Toho can get weird. On the first of TWO new episodes this week, the guys talk Absolute Batman Annual 2025 by Daniel Warren Johnson But first, is Daylight Savings the only time of year you can defeat Cody? How do we feel about baseball and the World Series? According to the CDC does cookie dough cause autism? What did the boys do for Halloween? Do kids today know Magneto? Was Cody recently on the Crime Time podcast? Does Batman hit people with his Big Boy-mobile in this comic? Was Daniel Warren Johnson made for Absolute Batman? Can you jump right into this annual if you haven't read any other issues of Absolute Batman? Is this comic just Batman vs. Nazis? Is it impossible to police Jake's language? How do we feel about the new Energon universe from Image Comics? Who is Cobra Cunnilingus? Is Batman our most covered topic on the pod? Are there versions of Batman that kill? How did we feel about the ending of this comic and Bruce's reflection on his actions? Is Bruce the only beefy boy in Gotham? Is Absolute Batman's axe somehow non-lethal? Daniel and Adam open the episode chatting about Halloween—Daniel hides in his office to avoid trick-or-treaters, while Adam describes the awkwardness of answering the door to children and not knowing what to say. Their discussion meanders into nostalgia for 1980s cartoons like BraveStarr and Batman and Robin, complete with moral lessons and childhood memories. Daniel gives an update on his running habit, then the pair discuss Big Fatty's visit to Florida and Daniel's recent Disney fireworks cruise with friends. The “Contact” segment follows, featuring listener emails and a bit of confusion about previous messages from Tim. The conversation spins off into their running joke about the “Little Fatty Cast,” including speculation about Larry Vader's life and the hosts' habit of dissecting other shows. Afterward, they roll into the “News Game,” where Adam quizzes Daniel on trivia pulled from AI, the New York Times, and random internet sources. Topics include Disney+, high-tech board games, and dazzling supermoons. Daniel manages to hold his own, even as Adam struggles to read the cards with his glasses. The episode closes with the “Birthdays” segment, where Adam plays clips for Daniel to guess which celebrities are celebrating. Michael Landon makes a posthumous appearance, and Daniel nails the answer. Wrapping up, Adam muses about taking a work sabbatical while Daniel offers pragmatic advice (and a reminder that Google exists). The show ends on their trademark mix of laughter, digression, and camaraderie.Email: contact@MixMinusPodcast.comVoice/SMS: 707-613-3284
The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money.Take boots, for example. He earned thirty-eight dollars a month plus allowances. A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars. Those were the kind of boots Vimes always bought, and wore until the soles were so thin that he could tell where he was in Ankh-Morpork on a foggy night by the feel of the cobbles. But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while the poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet. This is Vime's Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness. This has nothing to do with the episode this week, its just interesting to think about.Best BooksAbsolute Batman Annual #1Shredder #2The Mortal Thor #3Book BlurbsAll New Spider-Gwen Ghost Spider #3 (try saying that 5 times fast. Host Anthony Desiato and guest Tim Bruns dig into the second half of John Byrne's 2-year run on the Super-titles — culminating in "The Supergirl Saga," which saw the introduction of Matrix and Superman's cold execution of General Zod & his allies. But first, Anthony and Tim discuss Superman's team-ups with Batman, Booster Gold, and The Spectre; Lana & Smallville's baffling involvement in the "Millenium" crossover; romantic developments between Superman & Wonder Woman, Lois Lane & Jose Delgado, and Clark Kent & Lori Lemaris; a welcome, but ultimately unfulfilling, spotlight on the Krypton part of the story; and the Post-Crisis returns or debuts of Silver Banshee, Toyman, Prankster, and Brainiac. This episode covers: SUPERMAN #12-22, ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #436-444 (with Jerry Ordway on art), and ACTION COMICS #594-600.The podcast's Byrne event has concluded! . . How does a street level vigilante turn into a meme of a character that can do anything and beat anyone? It takes time, popularity, Grant Morrison, and casually sacrificing the rest of the DC universe (Some with just one punch!) to give us the omnipotent version of Batman that could beat anyone with some prep time and a trust fund. And who cares if some people balk at how OP ol' Brucie is, the stories are dope and yeah, we should all have contingency plans to stop Aquaman. This is the episode on Batman you both need and deserve.Want even more Nerd of Mouth? Christopher Nolan, for a brief moment in time, was set to make The Prestige just ahead of directing Batman Begins. But circumstances meant that by the time the window of time was right, the Batman reboot was already a hit. Nolan thus jumped into a movie that was modestly costed, and didn't involve having to travel the world to shoot. The author of the original book The Prestige? Well, he sounds like a guy with notes...! Then! Ryan Lambie had a long conversation with Predator: Badlands, Predator: Killer Of Killers and Prey writer/director Dan Trachtenberg. He talks about his new film, and bit of Weyland Yutani too... Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Today we're going to do something fun. Are you ready?(Press the PLAY button to hear the audio version of today's memo.)I will tell you how to advertise if you will tell me the nature of your business.Advertising can be broken into 6 major categories:Business-to-Business (B2B)Niche Marketing (Niche-S) with a short purchase cycleNiche Marketing (Niche-L) with a long purchase cycleShort Purchase Cycle (B2C-Short) Business-to-ConsumerLong Purchase Cycle (B2C-Long) Business-to-ConsumerMixed Purchase Cycle (B2C-Mixed) Business-to-ConsumerBusiness to Business.B2B: If you are in a business that sells to other businesses, tight targeting will be essential to your success, but you can easily identify the customers you need to target.Their addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses are readily available and direct mail, phone calls and emails are cheap. If you have some extra dollars, you can place ads in the appropriate trade magazines and websites to elevate your brand.Features, benefits, pricing, delivery, and payment terms are important elements within your message. How well your B2B ad campaign works will depend entirely on what you say.It will depend on what you say.Focus on saying the right things. Now let's talk about Niche Marketing with a Long Purchase Cycle.Niche-L: If you sell a specialty product that appeals to an affinity group, social media is a powerful thing. A powerful thing.Danny sells the most rare, weird, exotic, and inexplicable guns the world has ever known. Firearms collectors are an affinity group. Collectible firearms are a Niche Market with a long purchase cycle.Danny will soon be producing a new daily short and posting it on YouTube 365 days a year. Each short video will be Danny showing you a different gun and telling you the story behind it. He is not going to shoot the gun. He is just going to tell you its story.Danny doesn't need to find gun collectors. Gun collectors will find him. YouTube is the world's second-largest search engine. Danny just needs to produce interesting content.Brian Brushwood taught me that.Would you like to have an invisible garage door like the one that Batman passes through to enter the Bat Cave?Max can do that for you.But invisible garage doors can only be installed in houses that have no masonry. Max needs to locate charming houses with wooden exteriors. He can knock on their doors, leave a door-hanger, or mail them a glorious postcard. Max sells garage doors to a Niche Market with a long purchase cycle.Do you sell an intangible Niche product with a long purchase cycle? Are you a sales trainer, an ad writer, a nutritional expert, a motivational speaker, a psychic healer, an entertainer?Build fame. Ride the tidal wave of fame. Fame leads to word-of-mouth. Be remarkable.
