Jack Horner inspired a character in Jurassic Park after the dino discovery of a lifetime.Jack has been fascinated by fossils for as long as he can remember. He spent his childhood digging around in the fossil-rich earth of Montana, as his father was involved in the gravel-extraction business. By the age of eight he was rewarded with his first big treasure – a real piece of dinosaur bone. As Jack's fossil collection grew, so did his passion for palaeontology. But he struggled at school, where severe undiagnosed dyslexia led his teachers and parents to write him off as lazy and spoiled. He pushed on regardless and in 1978 made a life-changing find: the world's first baby-dinosaur skeletons, and evidence that dinosaur parents cared for and raised their young like many modern birds. The discovery made front-page headlines around the world, and led to awards and accolades Jack had never thought possible. It also brought him to the attention of author Michael Crichton, who based a lead character in his hit book, Jurassic Park, on Jack. And when the call came from Stephen Spielberg to come and advise on the movie version, his fame as a dinosaur expert hit a whole new level. Jack was then himself inspired by the movie, and supervised one of his students in extracting DNA from a T. rex. XX More evidence linking COVID 19 to type 1 diabetes.. but still exactly why is a mystery. During the COVID-19 pandemic, there was an unexpected increase in the number of cases of type 1 diabetes in Sweden, particularly among children under 5 and young adult men. The infection accelerated the onset of diabetes among children between the ages of 5 and 9. The researchers looked at data from a 17-year period on the incidence of type 1 diabetes among all people under the age of 30 in Sweden. In addition, they compared the risk of developing diabetes among 720,000 individuals with positive COVID-19 tests against a control group of 3.5 million people. The findings are published in the journal Diabetologia. The number of diabetes cases increased by 12% in 2021 and 9% in 2022 compared with previous years. In 2023, the number of cases was back to a normal level. Despite this, the researchers cannot distinguish a clear connection between COVID-19 infection and diabetes, except for children between 5 and 9 years old. They had an increased risk of type 1 diabetes about one month after a COVID-19 infection even though their total risk did not increase. "However, it's clear that the COVID-19 vaccine can be ruled out as a cause of the increase in diabetes cases. The recommendation for the age group where we saw the strongest increase was not to get vaccinated. In addition, other studies on adults have shown that vaccination reduces the risk of developing type 1 diabetes after a COVID infection." https://medicalxpress.com/news/2025-10-diabetes-young-people-pandemic.html XX A new gene therapy approach aimed at protecting people with type 1 diabetes from developing diabetic kidney disease—a serious and common complication of the condition, has shown promising results in a University of Bristol study. Findings from this new study, published in Molecular Therapy, demonstrated a 64% reduction in a damage indicator for kidney disease, paving the way for a potential new treatment. The study, explored the potential of delivering a protein called VEGF-C directly into kidney cells. The INHALE-1 clinical trial assessed the safety and efficacy of Afrezza among children and adolescents with T1D, including a total of 230 patients aged 4 to 17 years. Researchers used basal injected insulin and randomly assigned inhaled insulin or rapid-acting analogue for meals, evaluating the change in hemoglobin A1c levels at 26 weeks. After completing 26 weeks of randomly assigned treatment with either Afrezza or rapid-acting insulin injections combined with basal insulin, participants continued receiving the inhaled insulin until week 52 for an extension phase to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of Afrezza with continued use.1,2 https://www.pharmacytimes.com/view/inhaled-insulin-demonstrates-comparable-safety-lung-function-and-efficacy-to-injectable-insulin-in-type-1-diabetes XX Eli Lilly released the results of two new Phase 3 trials of an experimental GLP-1 pill that the company says could become a “foundational treatment” for type 2 diabetes. The company said it will seek approval of the drug as an obesity medication by the end of 2025. Lilly is trying to build on the success of its Mounjaro/Zepbound franchise by offering patients a pill instead of an injection. But the company is trailing behind rival Novo Nordisk in developing an oral alternative, and data released so far has raised some skepticism among investors. A study released in August showed that orforglipron could help patients lose an average of about 12% of their body weight. The findings, published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, mean that in the future, simple blood tests could be developed to identify people most at risk early on, helping prevent chronic illnesses and cancer through strategies like diet or lifestyle changes. As people age, stem cells in the bone marrow that produce blood cells gradually accumulate mutations in their DNA. Most mutations don't cause any issues, but sometimes blood stem cells with a mutation can start crowding out their peers. Called clonal hematopoiesis, this condition affects about 10% of older people and is associated with an increased risk of blood cancers like leukemia. It's also linked to a higher risk of obesity and diabetes. But the prevailing thinking was that obesity and related conditions promoted blood cell changes, not the other way around. The new study reverses that. The implications could be far-reaching, particularly as obesity has now overtaken smoking as the most significant and preventable risk factor for cancer. The team is studying how the mutations drive disease. Investigators collected HbA1c from medical records, and microvascular complications were assessed through self-reports, clinical screenings, retinal photographs, and urinary albumin-creatinine testing.3   A total of 30 children were recruited from the original cohort with a mean diagnosis age of 2.9 years. After an average of 29.7 years (standard deviation [SD]: 3.9 years), 33% of participants (n = 13) developed neuropathy, 63% (n = 19) developed diabetes-related eye disease, and 10% (n = 3) developed neuropathy.3 Mean HbA1c estimates during adolescence (9% [74.9 mmol/mol]; 95% CI, 8.6-9.3 [70.5-78.1]) were substantially higher than childhood (8.2% [66.1 mmol/mol]; 95% CI, 7.8-8.5 [61.7-69.4]; P

On September 10, 2025, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, appeared to have been fatally shot in the neck during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, allegedly by 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson. The shot, we are told, was fired from a rooftop 142 yards away. The public narrative — spread by the FBI, TPUSA, and the mainstream media — is riddled with dubious details: Robinson's unexplained hours on campus, multiple clothing changes, undetected rooftop assembly and firing, a 15-foot jump escape, ditching a reassembled rifle with his DNA, incriminating texts and notes (one destroyed), and surrender after a 33-hour manhunt facilitated by his parents and a Republican activist, yet no confession. Skeptics online have highlighted improbabilities like Robinson's lack of marksmanship expertise, a massive security stand down at the UVU event, missing CCTV footage, possible evidence tampering by Kirk's team, and odd security guard movements moments before the shot — all suggesting the possibility that things aren't quite as they are being portrayed by authorities. On Monday September 27, 2004, 18-year-old Brittany Phillips, a student at Tulsa Community College, drove home from campus with her friend Lydia. They just took a chemistry test, and Brittany was looking forward to hanging out and celebrating her nineteenth birthday, which was coming up on October 4. But then as the week rolled on, Lydia didn't hear from Brittany. And then, she noticed that Brittany didn’t show up for their next class on Wednesday. Lydia was unsure if she was overreacting, but her gut told her that something was wrong. She called in a welfare check, and when first responders and police arrived, they found Brittany’s body in the bedroom of her apartment. News reports said that she had been raped, and strangled. In the two decades since, ex-boyfriends and strangers have been questioned, sex offenders have been investigated, DNA swabs have been taken, but there are still no suspects. And the information that we found made me question if a lot of the “facts” that have been reported about this case are true at all. We’re going to be going back to the beginning and ask some fundamental questions. Could the timeline of Brittany’s murder be off by up to 48 hours? Was Brittany definitely raped? Was this the work of someone who knew her and staged the crime scene, or could it have been a serial killer? And could that person still be out there?
