Our hosts return to the Podcave and sit down to review the episode, “Mean Seasons.” Alex and Will break down Calendar Girl as a character, and unpack the striking similarities between her story and the voice actor's real-life experiences with ageism in Hollywood.Along the way, they tackle the truly important questions: What would Calendar Man's favourite type of calendar be in the 90's? Why does Alfred apparently have a spicy account? How did Batman get a full-sized T-Rex back into the Batcave? And would Wayne Enterprises still expect you to come into work even when you're on your literal deathbed?Tip Jar: https://buymeacoffee.com/batmantaspod Buy Our Merch: https://www.bleakworld.store/category/btas-podcast-collaborationOutbreaks Issue 4 Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/speechcomics/outbreaks-1-4-an-ongoing-zombie-anthology-seriesMobster Mash 1-2 Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/speechcomics/mobster-mash-1-2-classic-movie-monsters-as-mobsters Join Our Discord - https://discord.com/invite/bQF76V3nUs TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@batmantaspod?_t=8zn1yhsgnfz&_r=1 Follow us on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@batmantaspod Follow the Pod on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/batmantaspod/ Follow the Pod on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/BatmanTASPod Follow the Pod on Twitter - https://twitter.com/batmantaspod1 Subscribe to Will's Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/willrobson Speech Comics Website - https://www.speechcomics.com/ Will's WhatNot Page - https://www.whatnot.com/user/speechcomics

On this episode @Travis_156 review The Batman (2004) Episodes 6 & 7.Episodes covered:The Cat and the Bat The Big Heat
This week we cover a little bit of everything, including a brutal browser puzzle game, new tabletop RPG pickups, meditation meetups, comic books, and a short film with a great twist. REAL LIFE Ben kicks things off talking about the puzzle game that has completely taken over his brain, Enclose the Horse (https://enclose.horse/). The goal is simple but cruel: build the biggest possible enclosure using limited walls, while the horse avoids water, ignores diagonal movement, and sometimes teleports through portals. Steven shares some new tabletop RPG pickups including Orbital Blues from Soul Muppet Publishing and Star Borg by JP Coovert, plus updates from his latest Mutant Crawl Classics game where he's running as Judge. Ben also talks about attending a meditation Sangha he found through Reddit, sitting silently with about twenty people and ending the night with an unexpected cookie tailgate. FUTURE OR NOW In Future or Now, Ben brings up an issue of Absolute Batman where Batman fights white supremacists, leading Steven to attempt a recap that goes about as smoothly as you'd expect. The conversation shifts into Superman Smashes the Klan, a graphic novel Ben highly recommends for its powerful storytelling and accessibility. The discussion touches on why Superman works so well as a symbol against hate, along with how modern comics are tackling real-world themes more directly. A related video discussion can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ5ID_k_iBA. BOOK CLUB For Book Club, we talk about the short film Likewise, Olive from Omeleto (https://youtu.be/lwEssWpRrxg). Both Ben and Steven enjoyed it, even though Ben didn't see the twist coming while Steven guessed it halfway through knowing it was a time travel story. Either way, the film still lands emotionally and is well worth watching. Next week's reading is The Song of a Non-Human Intelligence by Mical Garcia, published January 12, 2026, available at Strange Horizons: https://strangehorizons.com/wordpress/fiction/the-song-of-a-non-human-intelligence/. The story explores cetacean communication, memory, and hope carried across oceans and time. That's it for this week. From fencing in digital horses to tabletop chaos, meditation cookies, thoughtful comics, and time travel feelings, it's a full episode. We'll see you next week for whales, non-human intelligence, and a whole lot of hope.

Hello Unlimited Leaguers! We are flying off to the Fortress of Solitude. I hope we got Superman a good birthday gift. It is hard to compete with Wonder Woman's flower and Batman's money. What do you get the man who has everything? Batman and Wonder Woman are off to help Clark celebrate his birthday. Things do not go as planned. Superman is locked in the grip of the Black Mercy. It is a plant the keeps the captured person in their most fulfilling fantasies. Kal-el is a farmer on Krypton. His wife, Loana (combo of Lois and Lana), his son Van-El, Krypto, and Brainiac the helper robot make his home complete. Krypton was never destroyed. His father is still a leading scientist. Things are different for Kal-El but his personality, drive, and morals remain the same. But as events in the real-world creep in as earthquakes, Kal-El realizes the fantasy. Batman and Wonder Woman must figure out how to break Clark out. Mongul sent the Black Mercy to stop Superman. With no Superman he wants to take over the Earth. Wonder Woman begins to fight him while Batman tries to break through to Clark. Things are not looking good as only Superman is strong enough to keep Mongul at bay, as we see Wonder Woman getting beat down like we've never seen before! As Batman finally is able to pull the flower off of Supes, he's able to come back to reality just in time, and goes to help fight Mongul. Batman is taken over but breaks free quickly. Wonder Woman puts a stop to the even battle between Superman and Mongul. She throws the Black Mercy on Mongul and takes him out. Hey Regular Guys and Gals, we did it again and made it through another week! This week, Kev takes a look at how punk rock used to mean rage… but now? Maybe kindness is the real rebellion. A reflection on how Iggy Pop went from chaos to calm, and why Superman (not Batman) might actually be the hero we need right now. How real success isn't found in likes or headlines, but in Target pretzels, your dad's corner store coffee, and creating something that makes people feel less alone. Why detaching from outcomes often brings better ones, and how letting the old way die sometimes makes space for the truer path. RGF bonus: Dustin Hoffman on what real success actually looks like, Larry Bird's beer-fridge dream, ‘Kev On the Scene' with Karamo Brown skipping the press tour, Bowie's Heroes, and how you can be one too… just for one day!
