Taken from the secret science behind miracles, Max Freedom Long discusses Lomilomi or the laying on of hands as it is practiced in the Hawaiian Huna tradition. Much can be learned from this ancient practice. In Hawaii and throughout Polynesia at a very early date, according to the semi-historical legends of the South seas, the healers often made use of physical manipulation as an aid to what might be called "mental" healing. This manipulation was called lomilomi, and was a combination of massage, bathing and deep manipulation—every action being accompanied by an action of mind to aid healing and relieve pain. If we modern people would combine Swedish massage, the various baths, chiropractic, osteopathy, the use of suggestion, and the ancient religious practice of "the laying on of hands" (to heal), we should approach the scope of lomilomi as a skilled kahuna might practice it.

When he arrived in Hawaii, Max Freedom Long, an elementary school teacher claimed that some Native Hawaiians were practicing what he called magic. Long wrote that at first he was skeptical of this magic, but later became convinced that it worked. He devoted the rest of his life to creating theories about how the Native Hawaiians did what he claimed they did, and teaching those theories through the sale of books and newsletters. The Secret within the larger Secret was the fact that there was a third self connected with man and his two lower selves. The nature of this High Self (Aumakua) and the means of gaining its aid also belonged to the inner Secret. In this the kahunas were very far ahead in their findings. They knew that they could never do more than guess at the fact of, or nature of Beings higher in the scale of consciousness than the High Selves. Their guess was a traditional one. They guessed that the Higher Beings would be similar to the lower ones which they knew in man. They subscribed to the ancient axiom "As above, so below." They may have originated it, for no other psycho-religionists seemed to have had definite and detailed knowledge of the three separate and independent spirits which compose the man.

I'm not exaggerating when I say this is truly one of my all time favorite episodes— I encourage you to make some space and really dig into this episode! Today we are taking you on an ancient esoteric—honoring Hawaiian voyage to immerse in the sacred wisdom teachings of these islands and its peoples with Ke'oni: the founder of Pōhala, esoteric Hawaiian botanical medicine. Ke'oni is a descendant of the Mū people, the inhabitants of Northwestern Hawaiian islands before the migration of the Polynesians. Ke'oni comes from a long line of medicine holders, makers, and mystics. A vast majority of what he knows regarding plant medicine and distillation comes from this direct lineage! His grandmother and female elders taught him the trade of plant extraction, and most of the methods he resources and medicine making remains loyal to these practices. Medicinals, including the oils, tinctures, hydrosols, and essences are gathered and honored in ceremony and thus extracted in small batches over a period of time—loyal to distinct moon phases, which place a botanicals specific house of power.  Ke'oni is one of just a handful of people in the world with this ancient knowledge. I've been blown away by these esoteric botanicals, and just knew we had to have him on the podcast. Top 5 Things You'll Learn from This Episode: How working with ferns helps us and how they're the rarest living being in two particular ways We learned what sorcerer's wood is How one oil that Ke'oni creates transported me to other worlds instantly Why working with hibiscus flower is important, especially now  How to open your communication lines with nature He gives beautiful examples of how you can speak to and receive answers from our plant and flower friends, details his long lineage of Hawaiian mystics and Kahunas, his wild awakening story and the very, very unique place that had happened. Make sure to join us in our closing Ceremony Circle practice: Ke'oni guides a brief, but potent Hawaiian ritual called Kulaki, which is the ancient Mū greeting. Today's episode is packed with updates. Updates on Jacobo Medoza's (Kovo) Disposition Hearing yesterday. The Estes Park School District R-3 Board of Education meeting and talk about new allegations that the School Board may have violated Colorado Open Record laws. We then end the episode by interviewing local Estes Park resident Patty Brown regarding the Big Kahuna memorial project and a quick update on the troubles at the post office. Here is a copy of the letter circulating through the Estes Park Community (written by the same group that had approximately 150 signatures voicing their opinions on the sudden separation between the district and former Superintendent Sheldon Rosenkrance.):The undersigned allege that the Estes Park School District Board of Education has violated the law in its recent executive session terminating the Superintendent's contract before public comment was received and by apparently discussing the action in private communications outside of open meetings requirements. The President of the Board of Education of the Estes Park School District has twice insisted that the recent termination / dismissal of Superintendent of Schools Sheldon Rosenkrance was “totally legal”. The response to inquiries and public comment shows a deliberate disregard for transparency, fairness/ethics, the law, and administrative process. The specific violations of the Colorado Open Meetings law were: ●      Engaging in private communications between Board members on a matter that is only allowed at open meetings and after public announcement. ●      Holding a meeting for a formal action and adopting it in an executive (closed) session.●      Holding a meeting involving the dismissal, discipline, or compensation of an employee that was not open to the public. A special session, implying that the decision, voting to terminate Mr. Rosenkrance's contract, and adopting the “mutual separation” (termination) agreement asks us to accept that all of that was all done in about an hour. While discussing a legal position to take may be done in closed session, any actiontaken at a meeting that has not first had the opportunity for public input violates the Open Meetings law. Another provision, specifically addressing an employment discipline, invites public input unless the employee requests it be closed. The Board made a decision, had an agreement in closed session, voted on it, then had public input at the following regular board meeting.   Private communications between Board members regarding a planned action is also illegal. As outlined below, it appears private emails and conversations took place prior to the special session. These must be made public. This is not how we expect a Board of Education to behave.  Their abuse of power has violated trust in a significant part of the community.  It will take more than just “technically being legal” to regain that trust. The remedy for the alleged violations, detailed below, as shown by a recent Colorado judicial opinion, is an injunction and/or the voiding or invalidation of the action. Or, given that the newly elected majority won the election by just a handful of votes, a recall would have a likelihood of success, particularly when it appears that the action was taken because of the personal opposition by some Board members to the Superintendent's administration.  Dismissing him with weeks left in the school year is highly unusual and probably wasted close to $200,000 of District money that does not represent good stewardship of taxpayer funding. The legal violations under the quoted sections of the COLORADO REVISED STATUTES TITLE 24. GOVERNMENT - STATE ADMINISTRATION ARTICLE 6. COLORADO SUNSHINE LAW PART 4. OPEN MEETINGS LAW C.R.S. 24-6-401 (2012) appear to be as follows:“The following may NOT be done in an executive (closed) session:“no adoption of any proposed …. formal action…shall occur at any executive session that is not open to the public.” (emphasis added)Additionally, the law expressly adds:“All ..meetings held…to consider ….the dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of, or the investigation of charges or complaints against ….[an] employee shall be open to the publicunless said applicant, official, or employee requests an executive session.” (emphasis added).  [no evidence of his request has been provided, despite a request]And to be absolutely clear, the statute adds: “upon the announcement by the local public body [the School Board] to the public of the topic for discussion in the executive session……. after such announcement, may hold an executive session only at a regular or special meeting and for the sole purpose of considering any of [certain] …. matters; except that no adoption of any proposed policy, position, resolution, rule, regulation, or formal action. …shall occur at any executive session that is not open to the public.Mr. Rosenkrance agreed to the action, no doubt under some duress, and a legal action to void it would waste more district resources and perhaps his best interest. However, the Board of Education is now on notice that such actions will not be tolerated in the future.Admittedly, the Board of Education gave the minimum notice of a special meeting to consider the termination of Mr. Rosenkrance, and discussions with legal counsel and considerations of actions may be done in an executive session, including deciding the position to take in a termination action or settlement. But let's review the facts, confirmed by the video recording of the special meeting. After the closed session of about an hour, with the Board's attorney, the Board and Mr. Rosenkrance announced an agreement. Then, the Board voted and adopted the settlement. That is an ACTION. Yes, it was done in open session, but there is no evidence that Mr. Rosenkrance waived his rights to an open session, and public comment was taken AFTER the action.  How was the agenda or the meeting scheduled, how did the attorney come to the meeting, and how were the terms so quickly agreed to, unless the Board members discussed the possible action in private meetings or communications among the Board members. The law is clear. No action may be taken at a special or general Board meeting WITHOUT BEING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND COMMENTS TAKEN. The minutes and video show it was a done deal without abiding by those requirements.A recent court case in Douglas County, also after a superintendent dismissal, held that one-on-one discussions between School Board meetings “at which public business is discussed and/or decisions reached is a violation of the purpose of the statute, not just its spirit”. This court said the action cannot be simply a “rubber stamp”, as to do so circumvents the legality of the Open Meetings Law. The Board discussions and decisions were not made openly, but in closed session. That is more than simply receiving confidential legal advice.Sure, at the next open general meeting, the Board heard public comments, but it did not take state the special session was just a proposal. It was a decision. No action or vote was taken after open discussions or public comment. All of this demonstrates a blatant disregard of transparency, respect of public participation, and apparently, the law.  Similar decisions or actions may result in community action. Also, if you would like to plug into or support the Kahuna Memorial Project, you can find more information at the following links:Website: www.kahunamemorial.comGoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/KahunaMemorialFacebook: Kahuna the Elk of Rocky Mountain National Park https://www.facebook.com/groups/357613813065071Twitter: Kahuna Memorial @JohnCoo87405512 Today's podcast is sponsored by: Get full access to The Colorado Switchblade at www.coloradoswitchblade.com/subscribe

Live is a monk in a monastery, I mean, this guy or being a rabbi, you know, he's got the beard. So, you know, he's got that that Rabbi ask, you know, frame around him, if you if I was able to show you on my wall here I've got I've got a great Rabbi got the same beard, you know? So anyway, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself and how, how you became this sought after person who could choose to walk away from running a billion dollar opportunity.Daniel Bruce Levin 1:16  I've lived a really interesting life. I think a little different than most people, although everybody's life is different. So I don't mean to make mine better or worse. It isn't a compare. It isn't a comparison. It's just I've lived a different life. And I think the most compelling thing that brought me my why was losing my parents two years apart on the same day. My dad died when I was 13. And he was my hero. I looked up to him, and I couldn't understand why my hero would be taken from me for no apparent reason. My mum died two years later on exactly the same day at exactly the same time. And so I was a naive little kid very protected in a very protected neighborhood in Philadelphia. I remember when john F. Kennedy was running for president, he came down one of the side streets that we did by the house where we lived in a parade, you know, sort of just she's just getting votes, I guess. And the big talk was that he was the first Catholic ever running for president. And I remember walking back to my mom and saying, Mom, I can't believe it. So all the presidents have been Jewish there. Since they've Adam. That's how sheltered and protected I was. And she said, No, Danny, that's not there hasn't ever been a Jewish president. But I was a naive kid in a sheltered environment. And my parents just loved and adored me in a way that I've never, I always wanted to be loved and adored. And when they were gone, I wondered, why would that taken? Not only why, where did they go? But why was that taken from me? Where was I ever going to find that love again. And it was only in writing the book that's over my left shoulder. For anybody who's watching this one video that I realized what happened is, when my parents passed away, I asked the adults who were the wisest people that I knew where my parents go. And they told me, they went to a place called heaven. So as a kid, I set out on a search for heaven.Ari Gronich 3:23  We talked about this in our pre interview. And, you know, my first response is, I wish that could have happened to me, right?Unknown Speaker 3:32  Yes,Ari Gronich 3:33  I wish that somebody back then at that level, would have said to me, I see something in you. And I want to take you under my wing, and I want to mentor you into becoming the best and the greatest that you can be. Yeah, however, you had a different outcome. So we'll just get into that. But I just wanted to interject my my own thought of No, but, you know, that was like, Holy moly. What, what? What would have stopped me from doing that?Daniel Bruce Levin 4:13  Yes. And you are like, probably 99.9% of the people in the world, which my uncle pointed out to me when I said to him, I would like you watch me for a month and a half. And you're, you're brilliant man. Look what you've created. You've created this international conglomerate of business that in your household name. I'm just a kid. I can't make a decision like that. Right now. I would like to watch you for one year to see if what you're offering me is what I want. Of course, it sounds beautiful. From a financial point of view, who doesn't want to be a bit or doesn't want to run a billion dollar corporation and have more money then God. But I want to see if if what it brings with it is something that I can live with.Ari Gronich 5:08  Right, but and so, so So before you go on. So how did you get to that place? At? How old were you at the time? 17 1515 Okay, so you're a 15 year old kid that's been sheltered. just lost his mom and dad. And yet you're telling your uncle who's a billionaire. You know, I want to watch you and see if who you are is who I want to be. Yeah, I mean, that takes some Kahunas as well as, amid some stupidity. A level will stupid. Yeah, but a level of maturity. Yes. Same time. That is crazy. So how did you, you know, like backstep? yourself? Yep. Analyze who you are before this. Right. Yeah. How did you become a person? What was the what were the things that made that be something that you would say?Daniel Bruce Levin 6:15  Yeah, beautiful question. Remember, what I discovered through the Mosaic, and what I discovered, after only five or six years ago, five years ago, writing the Mosaic, I didn't know the answers to that question then. But in looking back, in retrospect, I realized that I was looking for that place called heaven. And for a lot of people that have been would have been having a billion dollar company here, because having money is what people think will buy them happiness. But what I ended up seeing was the happiness that I was looking for wasn't a result of that money. There were people that had that money that were happy, there were people that had that money that were miserable. And one of the things that kept me from doing it, because I said, I'd like a year to see how who you are. A year to the day, he took me out to lunch again. And in the end, he said, I'd like an answer to my question. And I said, you have to be in the permanent, you know, punk that I was. I said, you got to ask a question before I can give you an answer. He said, Oh, so you forgot what you promised me a year ago? I said, No, I didn't forget. I just forgot that today was one year. And I'll never forget that again. I see how exactly you'reAri Gronich 7:33  What year is this?Daniel Bruce Levin 7:34  This was I was born in 55. So it was 1971. Okay, so you're 1970? Actually,Ari Gronich 7:43  you're 16. This is the beginning of the 70s. We've got the hippie movement. Right. And crossing over to the disco world, right. This is what's happening in the world. We've got gas shortages, we've got Nixon we've got right, this is what's happening in the world. And you're telling your billionaire Uncle, I am looking to be happy within myself. Yeah, again, I'm just I'm repeating this because I think it's important that people realize the mindset that comes along with whatever success you're you're partaking in, and how important it is to feel honoring within yourself. And, you know, I like you watch a lot of the people who appear to be in power. And because I've had the opportunity to be hands on, so to speak with them. I know whether they're happy or not I know whether they're fulfilled or not. And I know, kind of the the pieces of where they're fulfilled and where they're not. But I'm also an adult, at this point who's had a lot of years of experience, right? So you're 16 you're in the 70s. It's the beginning of this movement of turning over for the Age of Aquarius, right? So everybody's preparing. And you're telling your uncle that you'd rather be happy than be a billionaire?Daniel Bruce Levin 9:27  Yeah. Well, it wasn't that I'd rather be happy than be a billionaire. But I wanted the ability to be myself. And I honestly when I look at the world around me today, one of the things that I see is that there are a lot of people that have a lot of money. But there are not a lot of people that know themselves very well. It doesn't mean that people that have money don't know themselves or people that are poor don't know themselves. I don't find anybody. I don't find many people in any of Those stratas fears that actually know who they are and feel comfortable in their own self. And when you find somebody like that, that person can be Richard before, can be ugly, can be fat can be can be old can be young. But when that person walks into a room with a with the presence of knowing themselves, and feeling that presence, people are drawn to it like bees to honey. And, and that was what I was looking for I was looking for that unconditional love that my parents gave me, I wanted to be that I wanted to feel that and as, as much as that business would have given me so much joy, so much ability to have to have things that nobody in this world could have. I didn't see the possibility for me at that point for it to give me the ability to have what I wanted.Ari Gronich 10:54  So I just I keep going back to that you're 18 years old, your age at the time and the level of maturity. But also, where did you learn the value of questions? Because obviously, obviously, you had them at an earlier age, and I would imagine that you had them before your parents passed. But where did you learn that value of curiosity, the value of of questioning and being curious?Daniel Bruce Levin 11:35  Well, I mean, even when john kennedy went down the street, outside our, by the border, our neighborhood, I said, Does that mean all the other presidents were Jewish? You know, I mean, a questions like I was always I tested it in, in preschool in preschool and elementary school, with an IQ of a genius. And I never really said much about it or cared much about it. But I think the genius mind is a mind that's inquisitive. I think, you know, part of the curse of having a genius mind, is it's so easy to think that I know something that I don't know. And, and somewhere along the line, I realize the curse of the genius mind is the arrogance that comes with it, of knowing things that other people don't know. And I realized that I can ask questions to find out what people do know, rather than assume that I know what they they know. Oftentimes, what they told me was exactly what I thought. But sometimes it wasn't. And I I always, even to this day, about 1015 years ago, a company by the name of Vistage, they train CEOs, they hire people to train CEOs, how to better their business. And they recruited me at one point in time to see if I could be one of their people. And I ended up not going with them. But they have a slogan and a saying that goes along with their company that I wish to God I had come up with, but I didn't. So I give credit to them for it because it's exactly what I do. They said when people come to us, they think that we're going to answer their questions. But in truth, what we do is we question their answers. I thought that was brilliant. And it's really the practice that I do. I question. All through my life, I've been a disrupter. Even as a kid, I questioned the answers that people gave me because I didn't see the same way they saw. I always saw things differently. And in seeing things differently, what they thought was just cut and dry, easy answer. When I questioned them, I realized they didn't really know the answers to the questions of their answers. They just said their answers because they were the answers.Ari Gronich 13:55  Yeah, you know, it's funny. On that note, I'm gonna you know, and the call but my men's weekend with Justin Sterling. He used to say, it's not what we're saying. That means anything during this weekend, this was at the beginning his opening monologue. It's how we are when we're together. Yeah, that makes all the difference in the world. And I've always remembered that as a good place to start. Yeah, you know, it's not so much the words. It's not so much the ideas, the concepts, the thoughts. Those are all subjective. It's how we are when we're together and how we make each other feel. And so you have an livened. I've enjoyed your presence here. accompany your words of wisdom, and all the ticks, you know, tips, tricks, techniques and things that will help my audience, create a new tomorrow today and activate their vision for a better world. So, thank you so much, Danny. I really appreciate you. And we're going to end this call. But remember to like, subscribe, comment, review, do all those things that allow us to communicate with you so that we can have conversations that matter. And I look forward to engaging in in conversations about this conversation. So thank you so much, and we'll see you next time.Unknown Speaker 15:48  Thanks for having me.

And it was only in writing the book that's over my left shoulder. For anybody who's watching this one video that I realized what happened is, when my parents passed away, I asked the adults who were the wisest people that I knew Where'd my parents go.And they told me, they went to a place called heaven. So as a kid, I set out on a search for heaven.I didn't know where it was, I didn't know if it was if it was a story that I could go to on the main square in the main square. You know, I didn't know what it was. So I just set out in search of that place. And I was given all these opportunities when my parents passed away. My uncle was a household name around the world. And in those days, this was 50 some years ago. In those days, men didn't give their businesses to their daughters, even though their daughters were smarter, and probably way more capable than AI. They just didn't give them to them to them. And when he saw me come into the family, he didn't have any sons. He said to me, I'm going to watch you for a little while. And if I see something in you that I think I'm going to see, I'm going to change your life with an offer I'm going to make to you. And about a month and a half later, he said to me, he took me out to lunch. And he said, Danny, today's a day your life is going to change. And I said really what's going to happen? He said, I've been watching you and you have a peculiar trait about you that will either make you incredibly successful or make you a complete failure. I hope that I can mentor you towards success. What I'd like to do is start you tomorrow, pushing a broom in my office. And I want you to rise to the level that you can naturally rise to and I will be mentoring you in the hallway along the way so you will not fall And when you get to the place where you no longer have the skill and ability to get farther, I will mentor you pass that fifth place, because I believe I see in you somebody that can in 15 years time take over my business. That was a multi billion dollar businessAri Gronich 5:15  yet, you know, we talked about this in our pre interview. And, you know, my first response is, I wish that could have happened to me, right?Unknown Speaker 5:26  Yes,Ari Gronich 5:27  I wish that somebody back then at that level, would have said to me, I see something in you. And I want to take you under my wing, and I want to mentor you into becoming the best and the greatest that you can be. Yeah, however, you had a different outcome. So we'll just get into that. But I just wanted to interject my, my own thought of No, but, you know, that was like, Holy moly. What, what? What would have stopped me from doing that?Daniel Bruce Levin 6:06  Yes. I, you are, like probably 99.9% of the people in the world, which my uncle pointed out to me when I said to him, I would like you watch me for a month and a half. And you're, you're brilliant, man. Look what you've created, you've created this international conglomerate of business that in your household name. I'm just a kid. I can't make a decision like that. Right now. But I want to see if if what it brings with it is something that I can live with.Ari Gronich 7:02  Right. But and so Okay, so So before you go on. So how did you get to that place? At? How old were you at the time? 17, 15 ,15. Okay, so you're a 15 year old kid that's been sheltered, just lost his mom and dad. And yet, you're telling your uncle who's a billionaire. You know, I want to watch you and see if who you are is who I want to be. Yeah, I mean, that takes some Kahunas as well as, amid some stupidity. A level will stupid. Yeah, but a level of maturity. What was the what were the things that made that be something that you would say?Daniel Bruce Levin 8:09  Yeah, beautiful question. Remember, what I discovered through the Mosaic, and what I discovered, after only five or six years ago, five years ago, writing the Mosaic, I didn't know the answers to that question then. But in looking back, in retrospect, I realized that I was looking for that place called heaven. But what I ended up seeing was the happiness that I was looking for wasn't a result of that money. There were people that had that money that were happy. There were people that had that money that were miserable. And one of the things that kept me from doing it, because I said, I'd like a year to see how who you are. A year to the day, he took me out to lunch again. And in and he said, I'd like an answer to my question. And I said, you have to be in the permanent, you know, punk that I was. I said, you got to ask a question before I can give you an answer. He said, Oh, so you forgot what you promised me a year ago? I said, No, I didn't forget. I just forgot that today was one year. And I'll never forget that again. I see how exactly you're. So I he said, Do you have an answer? I said, Yes. It's going to come in the form of three questions. And he said, okay, that doesn't sound good. You know that 99.9% of the people would have said, would have said when I first asked them, where's the broom? Let me start today. Not not wait till tomorrow. And now it's a year later and you have three questions for me. This doesn't bode well. Tell me what your three questions are. And remember, I said you you can either this quality that you have can either make you a huge success or a huge failure. And I have to say I'm in intrigued by the fact that you just don't run like everybody else would to that answer, because there's something in you that intrigues me. I don't know, I've never met somebody like you that's not influenced by the, by the power of what that money can give you. So I said, Okay, I have three questions for you. And when I asked him the three questions, it was clear to everybody, both of us for sure. that that wasn't meant for me to do. And he said, You know, I'm going to have to excommunicate you as a result of that. And I said, I said, I didn't realize you were going to have to, but I assumed you could. Because that's what people do, when like, you've given me your heart and soul, you've poured out on the table, everything that is important to you, you've offered to me, and you feel like I'm walking away from it. With with, with no respect. But that isn't what's happening. Like, it's in respect of, it's, it's an out of respect for you that I can't do that. Because that can never be the another version of you. And there's no room for me to be me in the company that you created. And so, I would rather be an unhappy version of myself than an unattainable unhappy version of you. Because I think I'll find happiness and being made whether I have money or not, that will make me happy. But I want to, I need to find myself, I need to find that Evan that I'm looking for, which is that place of unconditional love. And it starts with me, honoring and respecting and unconditionally loving myself. Alright, to the point that I know what's right, again, please 16Ari Gronich 11:47  What year is this?Daniel Bruce Levin 11:49  This was I was born in 55. So it was 1971.Unknown Speaker 11:53  Okay,Ari Gronich 11:54  so you're citing 70?Unknown Speaker 11:56  Actually, you're 16.Ari Gronich 12:00  This is the beginning of the 70s. We've got the hippie movement, right was in and crossing over to the disco world, right? This is what's happening in the world. We've got gas shortages, we've got Nixon we've got right, this is what's happening in the world. And you're telling your billionaire Uncle, I am looking to be happy within myself. Yeah, again, I'm just I'm repeating this because I think it's important that people realize the mindset that comes along with whatever success you're you're partaking in, and how important it is to feel honoring within yourself. And, you know, I like you watch a lot of the people who appear to be in power. And because I've had the opportunity to be hands on, so to speak with them. I know whether they're happy or not, I know whether they're fulfilled or not. And I know, kind of the the pieces of where they're fulfilled and where they're not. But I'm also an adult, at this point who's had a lot of years of experience, right? So you're 16 you're in the 70s it's the beginning of this movement of turning over for the Age of Aquarius, right? So everybody's preparing. And you're telling your uncle that you'd rather be happy than be a billionaire?Daniel Bruce Levin 13:42  Yeah, well, it wasn't that I'd rather be happy than be a billionaire. I don't find anybody I don't find many people in any of those stratosphere is that actually know who they are and feel comfortable in their own self. And when you find somebody like that, that person can be Richard before can be ugly, can be sad, can be can be old can be young. But when that person walks into a room with a prayer with the presence of knowing themselves, and feeling that presence, people are drawn to it like bees to honey. And, and that was what I was looking for. I was looking for that unconditional love that my parents gave me. I wanted to be that I wanted to feel that and as as much as that business would have given me so much joy, so much ability to have to have things that nobody in this world could haveI didn't see the possibility for me at that point for it to give me the ability to have what I wanted. In retrospect, now, what I've learned about the heaven that I was looking for, is that heaven is a change of perspective, that heaviness, the ability to sweat to look at what we've always seen one way, and see it entirely different to be curious about how other people see it. And now in looking back, what I realized, I could have easily gone into my own boss company. I could have easily changed my perspective, and been and found my happiness, right, in that I could, I could have found that in, in starting organizational psychology when my hair was down to my waist. And I said to my professor, what in the world do you see in me that looks like an organizational guy? What are you crazy, but I was so arrogant and so sure of myself, that now when I look back, some 40 years later, I'm working with organizations and i'm doing i'm doing organizational psychology with them now. And in the work that I do, sometimes, I could have been that in the rabbinical school. What we do doesn't determine our happiness, who we are determines our happiness. But I didn't see that then. I was just a kid and I didn't.Ari Gronich 16:25  Is it who we are? How we are?Daniel Bruce Levin 16:29  Yes, it's, it's, it's, it's probably all of that. But when I say who we are. There, we I did some work, I branded a coaching company is one of the things that I did. And they had a beautiful assessment that they did with people. And they look at the seven different ways that people show up in the world. And who a person is really determines how they show up in the world. And they can either show up as a victim, as a confrontational person, as someone who rationalizes everything, as someone who wants to please other people and will do everything they can for other people, they can show up in a win win situation where everybody wins, they can show up in a place where there is nobody to win with, there's only one, we're all together, we're all united. Or they can show up in the place where none of this is real at all it all just as an illusion. And depending on where you where we show up, where I show up in any situation, determines the outcome of how that situation looks to me. And it was really beautiful.Ari Gronich 17:46  So So then I go back to the previous part of your story. What are the three questions that you asked your uncle?Daniel Bruce Levin 17:54  I thought I could slip by that. But I see your sharp you won't let me go on. So I remembered who he was he had a they had a beautiful big house and in the Midwest. And for his birthday, one year while I was there that about 400 people showed up for his birthday party.Unknown Speaker 18:14  And I went upDaniel Bruce Levin 18:15  to him and I said at one point in the midst of the party, I said, Boy, you must feel so happy. You must feel so proud of who you are as a human being that you would have 400 people come here and celebrate your birthday with you. I mean, how does it feel to be that loved and admired? And he said, Danny, let me let me tell you something. You have you have rose colored glasses. And that's the way you look at the world. These people aren't here because they love and admire me. These people are here because I have a lot of money. And they want something from me. So I said Do you remember when you said that to me?And he said, Yes, I do. I said why would you want to give me that gift? Why would you want to give me that the lack of faith in myself. I wasn't a lovable I wasn't I wasn't the friends that I had didn't want to be friends with me. They only wanted what I had. And maybe I and then he said, Okay, I see. I see where you're going. This isn't looking so well. What's your second question?Unknown Speaker 19:27  And I said,Daniel Bruce Levin 19:28  I said, Let's imagine for a minute that I could get past that hurdle. But I doubt I could I mean you're brilliant. You're, you're you're wise intuitive men. So if you can't get by it What chance do I have getting by but let's imagine for the moment that I could. I remember sitting around the dining room table with the family one one night having dinner. And the girls were just starting to get boys at boys were just starting to get interested in them and they were talking about The boys that they liked and the boys liked them. I said, Do you remember your response? Do you remember what you said? He said, Yes, I do. But what do you think I said them. I said, here's my recollection, tell me if I'm right or not. You said to them girls, as attractive as you are as smart as you are as as, as kind and funny as you are. These guys don't give a damn about who you are, they give a damn about what your last name is. And just be careful that the only reason they love you is because of your last night name. Because you single handedly can change the projection, the trajectory of their life just in a relationship. So just be careful that they're not using you for your for your last name.As it's to say, I could get past the first hurdle. Why would you want to give that gift to my children? And he said, Okay, this doesn't look so great. What's your third question? I said, I love that you want to start me at the bottom pushing a broom. And I love that you don't want to just hand me over something that I'm not that I haven't I haven't earned. But as I come up from pushing a broom and talking and being involved with every level of every person in the construction company, I imagine I'm going to see certain things that you don't see anymore, because you're not that you don't have that involvement with them. If I see things or hear things from those people that I think could really change the company and help the company to have a culture that's even better than the culture that's there now. Would you allow me the space to make those changes? I said, Do you remember what you said to me? He said, like it was yesterday, tell me what you think I said to you. I said, I think you said to me, if it ain't broken, we fix it, Danny. And he said, That's spot on, I would say the same thing to you again. So I said, if I could get over the first hurdle, if I could get over the second hurdle. I still have a third hurdle, and that there's no place for me really in your company.Because I wouldn't be permitted to make the things that were when MIT would put my earmark on it. And he said, What do you really think?I mean, have you started any billion dollar companies? I said, Of course not. So I said, I think we have our decision, don't you?And he said, unfortunately, so remember I said to you, your intelligence would either make you successful? Or would or would make your proper I think it's going to make you a pauper right now, this is a stupid decision. I said I understand. And you're probably right. But I would rather make a stupid decision on the chance of being happy being made, then make a wise decision with with the possibility of ever being new, and being unhappy the rest of my life doing that.Ari Gronich 23:10  All right.Unknown Speaker 23:12  Wow.Ari Gronich 23:13  So I just I keep going back to your 18 years old, your age at the time and the level of maturity. But also, where did you learn the value of questions? Because obviously, obviously, you had them at an earlier age. And I would imagine that you had them before your parents passed. But where did you learn that value of curiosity, the value of of questioning and being curious? Well,Daniel Bruce Levin 23:55  I mean, even when john kennedy went down the street, outside our, by the border, our neighborhood, I said, Does that mean all the other presidents were Jewish? You know, I mean, a questions like I was always I tested it in, in preschool in preschool and elementary school, with an IQ of a genius. And I never really said much about it or cared much about it. But I think the genius mind is a mind that's inquisitive. I think, you know, part of the curse of having a genius mind, is it's so easy to think that I know something that I don't know. And, and somewhere along the line, I realize the curse of the genius mind is the arrogance that comes with it, of knowing things that other people don't know. And I realized that I can ask questions to find out what people do know, rather than assume that I know what they did. They know oftentimes what they told me was exactly what I thought, but sometimes it wasn't. And I always, even to this day, have About 10 or 15 years ago, a company by the name of Vistage. They train CEOs. They hire people to train CEOs, how to better their business. And they recruited me at one point in time to see if I could be one of their people. And I ended up not going with them. But they have Cogan and the saying that goes along with their company that I wish to God I had come up with, but I didn't. So I give credit to them for it because it's exactly what I do. They said, when people come to us, they think that we're going to answer their questions. They just said their answers because they were the answers.Ari Gronich 26:15  So how often do you say the phrase? Yeah, I know.Daniel Bruce Levin 26:22  Rarely,Ari Gronich 26:24  I asked that because I remember being a kid. And you know, I was unlike most I was five years old, when I first started having conversations about philosophy and religion and politics. And I never understood kids my age, necessarily. I was definitely an introvert who likes to read and like to study and research and I read non fiction biographies of people in history. That was like my thing. I loved learning about people, and why they made the decisions that they made. And I was curious, but I also had that I know that because I would study so much that I felt like I knew. And then about 2000, the year 2000. I did the sterling men's weekend. So I was 24 years old and and doing this thing called the sterling men's weekend, which came out of asked and is a powerful experience. And one of my buddies that I met through that organization, his name is Bill Chapelle. And Bill Chapelle was one of Werner Earhart's coaches back before asked. Yeah, he also was one of the first five rebirth authors with Leonard or on the planet. I mean, this is a guy whose ability at psychology and knowing the brain and knowing motivation and all that is unparalleled. And he became a very good friend of mine. But he used to say to me, for me, to think that I know anything about anything, including what I'm saying right now, is the height of arrogance. Yeah. Because for all I know, I could be the ball in somebody's pinball game, being flipped around all over the place and have no control because 99.999% of what reality is, is unperceivable to the human condition. Yeah.Daniel Bruce Levin 28:55  When I say very rarely, I say, I mean, I meant that now. But growing up as an African kid, I've probably said it a lot.Ari Gronich 29:03  Oh, good. I just wanted to make sure that, yeah,Daniel Bruce Levin 29:06  I would I because what my gift was so to speak, was I was great at breaking down walls and starting things up. And I also had the gift and still do, of knowing how things and so when I knew how things were going to end, and when I started things up, and I knew how things were going to end. I had very little patience for the time in the middle. Because I wondered, well, it's obvious This is what's going to happen. Why do we have to waste all this time getting there? What I realized in my older age, is that tendency has made me miss out on most of the beautiful things and most of the pains and most of the things that give life all of its texture and all of its color. Because I didn't take time to sit there and smell the roses so to speak. I didn't take time to experience some of the experiences because I was as hell bent on getting to the end and starting up something new. And I didn't even feel like that was something that I was missing out on. Until I realized there's some things in my life now that I want to look back on. I haven't dealt with I haven't resolved, I haven't given the time sales. And all those things are important for us to determine who we are and what we feel, not to just glaze over them and run past them. But just I'm not, I'm not suggesting that we build houses in them, and stay stuck in them. But I am suggesting that we take a walk through them and walk into them and walk out of them. And when we can do that we we leave them in because they've even been our best, rather than in a room that we've locked them in with padlocks and scared to death that they'll come out one day at a second.Ari Gronich 30:54  So I'm going to ask you a, I think it's probably a tough question that you'll find easily. But it's a tough question for many people, logic and emotion. And the question becomes, I can so I'll just take me for an example. I can experience an experience, logically know that that was an experience that had all kinds of intricacies and nuance to it. But the emotional triggers may still create reaction in the future versus response, right. So I'm reacting to what was when, even though I logically have I have this logical mind that says, Okay, this is just silly. So how do we how do you get? How do people is there any tools or techniques that get people from the logic where you can understand something to the emotion where you actually will do the thing that may emotionally be outside of your history and pattern?Daniel Bruce Levin 32:16  Yeah, when I find out, I'll let you know. But, you know, they, there's that common saying that the hardest, longest hardest journey we ever take is about an 18 inch journey from our head to our heart. That when you speak of what you speak of I can I, you are a mirror of me saying the same thing to myself. I know, I know things. And I feel things. And for me, the greatest moments of conflict are when core values of what I know and what I feel, are in different places and are in opposition to each other. Those are the places where I have the most difficulty getting through. Because either way I lose and I win. And it's hard to lose, it's hard to give up something that you that you really want. Because there's something else that you really want. It's not that. And so in both cases, you've come out scarred, I came out scarred. But that doesn't like the only thing that I can tell you now that I'm experiencing in this moment, is what I know means nothing. Unless it's unless it's in alignment with what I feel. And what I feel when when head and heart Come in alignment. Then I operate in a flow, I don't operate in an opposition. Part of the reason the the mosaic is so valuable to me. It's the book that I wrote that that speaks to a different story. It says it's a simple, beautiful story in the words that it tells. But the story is told also in the spaces between the words. And in the spaces between the words, the story is that everything is connected, nothing is as it seems. And so if nothing is as it seems, it doesn't matter what I think it is. It doesn't matter. All the stories that I've told myself over hundreds and hundreds of times that I now believe are facts, when they're just simple stories. They're not facts, they're stories. But I've told him to myself so many times that I believe they're real, but they're just stories. And it's in the dismantling of those stories. That worlds crumble from I mean, for me, at least I'm talking about my world. Because on those stories on those facts, stories that I believe were facts, I built houses and communities and villages and towns and cities and states and countries. And when I unraveled those big I realize any truth. And it's just a story that I've told myself over and over and over again. Everything crumbled, the village, just towns, the cities, this countries. And it's a scary place to be. But it's also an incredibly exciting place to be, because all of a sudden, everything is seen differently.Ari Gronich 35:23  So I'm going to,I'm going to use a saying that I use a lot on here. It's one of my favorite quotes that I created. Because it's so simple, but the quote is, we made this shit up, we can do better. So here's an, you know, then the tagline for that is, so let's create a new tomorrow today and activate our vision for a better world. Right? So because we want to walk,Unknown Speaker 35:57  I couldn't have led you in that path any better. But, exactly.Ari Gronich 36:01  So here's the question. We made this shit up, we can do better. However, people become married to their construct, so much so that the even concept or idea that it's a construct that we made up, falls short on the perception of the person who constructed it. And so we're married to this thing that we've created that we can all see is, at best sub optimal, not performance based. But the attachment to that construct is so great. That having people realize that, like, you can create a totally different form of government and not have it be socialist democratic, or Republican, Republican communists or it could be like, the the, the the leaven society, you know, like, I mean, it could be any possibility of thing that we can create next, right? Yeah. But people are so married to the, to the idea that this label means this because we created it that way. Yeah. And so it can't ever mean anything else. False fall short. So anyway, that's, that's, that's my, my question to you is, how do we get the construct to have less value than the end result? And the journey be such a great experience in the journey of creating new constructs, that people won't be so uncomfortable with the d raveling? of the old one?Daniel Bruce Levin 37:53  It's a great question. And it really is your it's, it's at a further question on logic and emotion, right? Because we understand something in one way we feel something another way. What we feel prevents us from seeing what we're able to see, when when one of the underlying currents of the mosaic is that nothing is it seems. A very, very simple concept, but a scary as hell concept. When you sit with the idea, or the possibility, let's give it a possibility, let's not make it a fact. Sit with the possibility of nothingness as it seems. The way it happened for me in the book, and this is through the words of the story is that mo is a is a young boy who loses his parents two years apart on the same day. It's a fable is version of my life. And when he asked the adults where his parents are, they tell him they're in a place called heaven. So he sets out that day on search in a place called heaven. But the people he meets along the way are not the rabbis and the priests and the Swamis and the gurus. And the shamans and the aborigines elders and the medicine women. They're common ordinary people. They're the trash man and the road worker, the homeless guy in the blind woman, this juice man in the street artist, the gardener and the waitress. And he wonders why in the hell am I meeting these people? They don't seem like the people that would be able to show me. But he hears a voice inside of himself that says you're here with them, have the decency to just sit with them and let them tell you their story? And are you in 100% of the cases, when he takes the time to just sit with them and listen to their story? When he realizes that the person that he had originally saw isn't at all the person that they are now. There's so much deeper, so much more, so much for so much greater than then who he thought they were and Even the things that they do are examples of if we would use what the just use the things that they do as as parables to help us live a better life. For instance, can I tell you one story that's in there?Ari Gronich 40:14  Absolutely. Yeah, please do.Daniel Bruce Levin 40:18  So along his journey, he's walking down a city street. And the street is absolutely pristine clean. He has nothing in his pockets, no backpack on his back. He's just walking empty with nothing, nothing to encumber him. And to his amazement, a truck pulls up beside and stops. It's a trash truck. And the trash man looks and says, Don't you have any garbage that you want me to take from you? And Moe looks down around them. He looks on the streets, he looks on himself. And he says, he's about to say to the man, what are you crazy? I mean, the street is clean. I have nothing on me. Like, why would you be first of all? When did the trash structure stop and ask a person if they have any trash that they want someone to take? And don't you see there's nothing here? And he's just about the land of the guy and say, What are you crazy when he catches the glimmer in the trash man's eyes. And he realizes the trash man isn't asking them about physical trash. He's asking him if he has anything emotional, or spiritual, or mental or thought processes that are keeping him from having what he needs. And he starts to break down and cry. And he said, Oh my god, I was about to yell at you and tell you, you're crazy. But I have so much trash. I don't think I can get it out on my own. And the trash man looks at him and says, that's why I stopped the truck. I'll help you. Let me come down and bring my cat. And he brings his trash can down. And he puts it by the side of the road. And he says mo but everything that her pains you everything that ails you everything that's keeping you isolated, everything that's keeping you from having what you want, just put it into this trashcan. And the more that you put in, what I want you to just realize is I want you to be free of it for just one minute. I'm not going to put it in the truck and take it away until you tell me to. And if you don't want me to take it away, we can keep it in the can. But I want to, I want you to experience One moment, what it feels like to be rid of all that stuff. To just not have that blocking you anymore. You can put it just all of it right here in the trash can is when you think you're done. Go back in and get find more. I have tons of trash cans that we can fill up. You won't he won't overfill my cans, don't worry. But everything there and I'll help you with anything that you don't need help with. I'll help you to get it out. Because I want you to know that one moment where you see yourself the unlimited power of yourself when you actually see who you're all my life. I wanted to be a trash man, I would sit out when I was four years old and watch the trash man come and collect the garbage. And one day after about watching them for six months, the trash man looked at me and said you want to come for a ride with us around the block. And I was like ecstatic. It was like I you know, a God himself had come to me. And I started to get on the truck and my mom was watching through the kitchen window. She said, Daddy, where you're going? What are you doing? Where are you taking my son? And they said, Ma'am, I'm sorry, we're not going to do anything to him. We've just watched him. He's been here every Friday, for the last six months. We just asked him if we just want to take them around the block and let him have the thrill of pushing the button that grinds the trash up. Because kids like to do that. And she said if he's not back in 10 minutes, I'm going to call the police. They said met them Don't worry, we have we mean no harm. We want to give him a present. And I came back and I said Mom, I want to be a trash man. I love that. And she said to me, Danny, you have a genius IQ. You can't be a trash man. 60 years later, my mom's probably turning over in her grave. Because what I realized is I'm a trash man. That's what I do for people. And if my son wanted to become a trash man, and wanted to become that trash man, I would spend every dollar I had helping them to do that. Because that's what this world needs. It needs people that will help us to see ourselves as we really are. Now that's a trash man. Most people walk by the trash man and don't think he has any value at all. That those aren't even the stories that he tells that's just in the work that he does. But when we're able to see the beauty of everybody's station in this world, not as a below or above, not as higher or less, not by them The money they make or the or the house that they live in, or the religion they practice. But when we see them for who they actually are and what they actually do.We have there, the world is showing us so much. And we have so much opportunity to learn from them, and be with them and understand them and practice the practices. They practice. And they weren't great religious leaders, they're not spiritual giants. They're common ordinary people. Nothing is as it seems.Ari Gronich 45:36  It's a It's a beautiful story. Yeah, it's a beautiful story. I'm gonna ask you in a little bit more of what mosaic means and, and what the book really details. But before then I want to get to some of your personal Mosaic, which is your life. So you went to seminary for five years. You left one day before becoming a rabbi. So you didn't actually complete this five year process. And then you went and lived as a monk for 10 years. somewhere else? So tell me the transition that happened that like, what, what were the mechanisms of thinking that that occurred? You know, and and I'm gonna say this, it's about pivot. Because any business has to pivot, we've had this whole Corona thing we've had to pivot we had, you know, pivoting is in transitioning from one thing to another. It's kind of a theme I think, I've gotten started with you today is this whole idea of transitioning and transmutation? But, you know, tell me, how did you go from Rabbi to monk?Unknown Speaker 46:58  So,Daniel Bruce Levin 47:00  again, the the moment that changed my life was the death of my mom and my dad, my dad and my mom. I was so close to my dad. He was my hero. My mom, I love my mom was like an Ozzie and Harriet mom. Most people won't know what that is. But she was the wolf. She was the mom that came home and had milk and cookies on the table for us when we came home from school, and sat and made sure we did our homework and where we grew up in a lower middle class family, what we lacked in money we wish we had abundantly in love for each other. And so that was the environment that I grew up in. I lost your question. Tell me what your question is again.Ari Gronich 47:43  transmutation. transmutation. Okay. SoDaniel Bruce Levin 47:45  pivots. So again, what what I was looking for in every situation was that having that place where I could feel that unconditional love again. And so I went, I went in search for that it wasn't in my uncle's business. It wasn't in school selling, learning psychology. It wasn't hitchhiking around the world. It wasn't in the seminary, when I realized that I would, if I were to go through the process of being ordained, I would never represent the rebby in the way that he wanted to be represented, because I came there and route to India. And what he said to me was, Why were you born Jewish? Were you born Jewish to become a Hindu? And I said, I can't answer that question. He said, so then sit with me and have the courage to be here with me until you come up with an answer to that question. I said, I think that's a beautiful challenge. I would love to do that. And what he said was really a beautiful thing, because I was having all sorts of problems with Judaism. This was Orthodox Judaism. Right? Right ultra Orthodox Judaism. And, and I said, I just can't relate to a lot of these things. And he said, Danny, problems exist on the same level. They're always at the same level. What happens is we we grow and shrink in our own life. When we shrink, the problems look insurmountable. When we're not strong in ourselves, when we can see where we are, when we don't know what's going on. The problems seem like they're, they're mountains that we can never get over. But when we grow in ourselves, those same things that appeared like mountains moments ago now it seemed like molehills, and we walk over them with one simple step. Just put things on the shelf, Danny, anything you're having problems with. Now, it's because you're weak in what we're doing. You don't understand it. As you stay here and understand it more. Just keep looking at your shelf. Because you right now you're looking up at this mountain. Soon you'll be looking at it as a as a molehill. The day before I was to be ordained how Went to the rugby and I said rugby, my shelf just gave them everything that was on it is all over the floor, it's a mess in that in my room. I can't do this anymore. And I can't in good faith, be ordained in your name and not follow the integrity of the teaching that you've given me. Because I wouldn't do I wouldn't use it the way you would use it, I would use it as a title to get me further along in my way. But I would use it to embrace all religions, not just Judaism, and out of honor and dignity to you and love for you. I can't do that in your name. So I think the only place for me to go is to walk away.Ari Gronich 50:40  So okay, so so I'm just going to repeat 16 year old billionaire asks you to run a billion dollar company? No. Because I would be going against me.Daniel Bruce Levin 50:55  I be out of integrity with myselfAri Gronich 50:57  right out of integrity with myself. Next rabbi. I mean, out ofDaniel Bruce Levin 51:02  the box. Next was my psychology professor in school. Right? Okay. He wanted me to be his mentor in organizational psychology. And he, he wanted me to be his mentee, I'm sorry, not as mentor. He wanted to mentor me. And he wanted to be able to, for us to develop organizational psychology together. And I looked at him and I said, What are you crazy, that is huge. That just isn't me. Third step was Rabbi saying, I want you I want you to create schools that I've created and change the way people think about Judaism. But it wasn't me. Okay, and so, so many people,Ari Gronich 51:42  I just want to get get to this, you're a very contrary person. So what where I, where I'm going with this is people are so afraid to let somebody else down, that they will absolutely 100% let their entire life down. Personally, in order to please, other people.Daniel Bruce Levin 52:14  Yeah. And I was, I was scared to let people down to though, I just didn't want to let my uncle down by not being able to do what he wanted me to do. I was scared to let my professor down by not being able to do what he wanted me to do. I was scared to let the rabbi down by not letting him do what, but without letting me do what he wanted me to do. So I had the same neuroses of everybody else. I just had the integrity of my own belief system to say that, who being true to myself was as important as being true to somebody else. Because I realized somewhere early on,that life was short, because my parents were taken from me. And if I didn't have the guts to practice and try and learnwho I was, and what I was doing here on this planet, that I would never live a life of fulfillment. I might be rich, but I wouldn't be fulfilled. I might be, I might have fame, but I wouldn't be fulfilled. I wanted fulfillment. Because right now, I can honestly say to you, I could live under a bridge or I can live in imagine it wouldn't matter to me, because I know who I am. And I feel content to be who I am in the space that I'm at. Because my teacher was an Indian was an Indian girl by the name of paramahansa Yogananda and Parma Honza Yogananda used to say, people think that hell in heaven are these places above and below us. The truth of the matter is portable paradise with Wherever we go, or our portable hell with us wherever we goAri Gronich 53:50  there within us, not without us.Daniel Bruce Levin 53:52  Yeah. And so what I somehow had the had the blessing to to feel without even knowing that I was feeling it was there was a portable paradise in me that couldn't be couldn't be altered by how much money I had or what religion I practice or who was proud of me for doing what they wanted me to do. That it was more important for me to stay true to that portable paradise. And even if I made mistakes, which I've made tons of that I was trying to stay true to the integrity of valve holding that portable paradise as mine and sharing that paradise with as many people as I could.Ari Gronich 54:29  Alright, so I'm going to go to the side that looks at it from a little bit of a different angle.Sothe world is a little crazy,Daniel Bruce Levin 54:43  right? Yep. And maybe a whole lot crazy, by the way,Ari Gronich 54:50  just a little. You know, the thing is, I was watching an interview with Jordan Peterson and, and he's an interesting you know, Canadian cat. very controversial in many ways, but he was talking about this a little bit as well. And the he's a psychologist, right. He's a clinical psychologist, not organizational, but clinical. And he's talking about motivations. And he's talking about about all these things. But now I've lost my thought a little bit. Where was I?Daniel Bruce Levin 55:30  You were saying he was controversial? And he was.Ari Gronich 55:35  Okay, so so the construct, I go back to the construct, and the idea that, that we are designed. So what he was saying is that human beings that it's, he says, it's a bloody miracle, that we're all in this room together. And nobody is killing anybody. And we're peaceful, and we're able to be human and peaceful. At the same time. He said, that's a bloody miracle. That that is not how we're designed, right? We're designed as humans to be controversial and self serving and so on, in many ways. And, you know, some of that I agree with some of it, I don't. But the point is, is that within the constructs, right, we have people who work for companies, for instance, for 40 years, and are miserable, the entirety of the time that they're doing it make their families miserable, make their lives and their kids miserable. But they do it because they have a sense of responsibility. So that the question becomes the pivot, versus the responsibility. My parents used to say, I want you to be a happy, healthy, productive member of society. And if you can't be happy, and you can't be healthy, at least be productive. Right? So I was raised to always be doing less being, even though I would study ways of being. So it's kind of interesting. That's kind of how I got my I'm a Gemini too. So I have multiple personality disorder. And I'm a Jewish Gemini, which means that if you have, you know, 10 Jews in a room, you have 100 opinions. So yeah, that to a Gemini, you got 1000 opinions in one head, and a committee for the committee for the committee. So I am noUnknown Speaker 57:33  joke, because you feel one of the things or the other. Right,Ari Gronich 57:35  exactly. And it goes both ways. It's like, okay, but I want this, but I want this, but I want this, but I want this, I want, I want the world a better place. And I want it to be a certain way that I want it to be right. So you are here. And you're you're going through all of these experiences monk training for 10 years living as a monk, five years for rabbi, organizational psychology, that's another at least six years in school, right? You're going through all these trainings, and you're going and you're going in them long enough to have invested a massive amount of life in them. Yeah. And then saying, yeah, that didn't work for me. I, you know, I could see, I don'tDaniel Bruce Levin 58:20  think I ever said it didn't work for me. Well, IAri Gronich 58:22  mean, it doesn't leave. It worked for me, as a lifelong profession.Unknown Speaker 58:27  Yeah, but I neverDaniel Bruce Levin 58:28  I don't think I ever looked at things as a lifelong profession. Because, again, the beauty of losing my mom and dad if there was a beauty to it, because I didn't have anyone that I had to please. I didn't have my parents saying, Our getting this, you know, that I could, I was free. My aunt and uncle tried to be my parent parents, but I would I was arrogant kid. And I said, You're not my parents. I don't have to do what you say. You know, because I just thought I knew better. And, and that that was my shortcoming. But I didn't have to live up to anybody else's standard of who I had to be. I will end and I was forced to be independent. I wasn't my choice. But in my independence, I realized hold it. There's freedom here. Like I don't have to decide at 15 what my life's occupation is going to be I just have to decide what makes me feel good and happy and fulfilled right in this moment. And so when I went to school and studied psychology, I, I was in college and 16 years old, when I went to college at 16 years old, and I took two years to study psychology, and I sat with my my professor, I loved the the practice of that. But when he said organizational psychology, I looked at him and I said, What are you crazy and and what I realized is psychology didn't answer my questions of why my parents were taken from. And so I left my uncles and aunts. To the questions of why my parents were taken from me put it put a whole nother world over that. But I could have lived in that other world without answering the primary question that I had to ask myself, of Why does a kid 15 years old lose the people love sincerely, and that love him dearly? And why does he lose unconditional love in a moment not know why. And so, when I, when I went into The Revenant, I had the same quote, I had the same thing that happened. You know, what? At a certain point, it didn't, it wasn't the life that wasn't going to answer my questions. When I went into the monastery, it didn't change. It didn't answer my questions, and everything, put a nice new facade over the life that I was going to live. That would have made me very, very happy. Because there were beautiful facades, but they didn't answer the question. It wasn't until five years ago, when I finished writing the mosaic. Or I started writing Mosaic, that what I realized was that might happen was that perceptual shift. And had I been able to see what I was looking at differently. You know, there's that picture of the old hag and the young socialite, you know what I'm talking about that, that black and white. And when you look at it, you see one or the other, you can't see both of them at the same time. And I remember seeing the old hag when someone showed it to me first. And my friend said to me, what do you see the beautiful young socialite I said, Come on. I don't I don't mean to be politically. But this is an old woman here. She is not a beautiful socialite. And they said, No, you're not seeing it. Clearly. If you see it differently, you'll see it. I said, You're crazy. There's, this picture is an old tag. And they said, just look at it and look at it. And what I realized is, suddenly, I saw the young socialite, a beautiful young socialite. And as soon as I saw the socialite, I could no longer see the old tag. So what I realized is what we see in the world that we live in, literally blocks us from seeing everything else that's in that same frame. We can't see what's there. And so we have to slide ourselves out of the way to see what's there, when we're not when, when when we are not there. The world that I see is not the world that is it's the world that I see. And so in all these places, these are, the reason why people think I'm crazy, is because every one of those situations for them would have been their Heaven, who would want to walk away from a billion dollar business, that's Heaven, for a kid 15 years old, to be handed the opportunity to have a billion dollar company, and the run that we have the lifestyle that goes with it. That's what most people dream of, and feel like, they'll be happy in that life. It wasn't my heaven. And so what I grew through learning in that, is that what seems like heaven to one person is not having to another, and to really be able to listen to other people and hear what is your having? What is that place that makes everything in you completely aligned?Unknown Speaker 1:03:12  Where you feel youUnknown Speaker 1:03:14  where you are youDaniel Bruce Levin 1:03:15  where you're not somebody else's dream of what you should be your your own dream of what you think you could have been, if someone else would have done something for you.Unknown Speaker 1:03:24  Who are you?Daniel Bruce Levin 1:03:27  And what I found, can I tell you another little story, I'm a storyteller, but I don't want to talk my way through it.Ari Gronich 1:03:33  Absolutely. The only The only caveat to to this particular story is we're going next to a Hay House. And and so I just wanted to give you that heads up that we were going to the next transition or one of the next transitions thereafter. SoUnknown Speaker 1:03:49  okay, letDaniel Bruce Levin 1:03:51  me just tell you a short story. Because when I left my aunt and uncle's place, the two years that I was there with them, I became really close, my best friend was, was the son of another billionaire. And we had talked about what we would be able to do together in the world together through our friendship, and through the way we saw the world because we thought we saw the world in similar eyes. And when I left, he got so upset with me. And he said, You are just in absolute idiot. How can you do this to me? We had this we had planned out what we were going to do with our life with you being you being where you were and me being where I was and coming together to do these things together. And now all of that is from is gone. said none of it's gone. We can still do all of it. I just won't be in that same position. He said not you're making a stupid decision. I don't want anything to do with you. And he just defended me at this at that same moment.Ari Gronich 1:04:48  Did he hit a button?Unknown Speaker 1:04:50  Even while most almost it's like, you know, canceled culture, right? It's like It's like if it was Facebook, it would have been a lot easierDaniel Bruce Levin 1:04:59  and it hurt me You've heard me to know and but I said, you have to do what you have to do. About 30 years later, I was staying in New York at the Mandarin Oriental, and I was friends with the people that that are in charge of the Mandarin Oriental around the spa. And they would give me a friends and family rate there. And the friends and family rate was cheaper than some of the dive hotels in New York. And so I was I had the I had the opportunity every time I was in New York to stay at this beautiful luxury hotel, at a frat, you know, a fraction of a fraction of its costs. And the Mandarin Oriental is unique in that the lobby is on the 34th floor. And the lobby overlooks Central Park. So you have to take an elevator up from the ground level to the 34th floor, to then get on another elevator to go to your room. Well, one night, I was coming home at about 1030 at night. I took the elevator from the lobby from the ground floor to the lobby. And as I was coming out of the elevator, I saw my best friend from from, from when I was 15. walking in with three girls around him into the elevator. And I looked at him I said, Neil, and he turned in so fuku said my name. I said I did. He said How the hell do you know my name? And I said, Really? You don't even remember me? He said, I have no idea who you are. Who are you? I said I'm Danny, I was your best friend when you were 15 years old. He said, Oh my god, Danny, I didn't even recognize you. I said obviously. He said come to the club with us. Where are you going to come we're going out to the club, we're going to have a great time we're going to drink and we're going to smoke dope, and we're going to dance and we're going to do stuff and I have these three girls with me. You know, and we'll get more and we'll just have fun together. I said, Not me, but it's okay. How about if we have breakfast together tomorrow? He said, No, no, I'm not going to pass up on this opportunity. So gross. If you want to go to the club, go to the club, you have my card, you can you can use all my you can use my money to buy yourself whatever you need. I'm going to spend time with I'm going to spend time with my friend here. He said, Do you drink scotch and smoke cigars? I said I normally don't. But I will with you tonight. He said I've got a great bottle of scotch up in my room, I'm going to bring it down. I've got two great cigars that sit in the lobby and just spent time together, catching up on 30 years. We sat from 1030 at night to 430 in the morning. And as we were getting ready to go call the night, so to speak. He looked at me and he said you know I hated you. I've been so mad at you for all these years. I didn't understand why you would do something so stupid as to go find yourself like what the hell is go finding yourself. We had a chance to change the world together. And when you didn't take that with me, I lost all my hope and being able to do it because I needed you to do it with me. But I look at you now. And as stupid as you were. I see you have the one thing that I want that I can't have. I have more money than God. I have. But my I have no I've been divorced three times. I'm cheating on my wife now with the three girls you saw me in the elevator with. And that's only in New York, I have three more and every other city like my kids, don't talk to me. I'm an alcoholic. I'm addicted to drugs. And I look at you and I see you have this peace and this contentment that I would give anything for this moment in my life. And I said Neil, that's easy. Like, let's just say you're my Premier, my friend, no matter what you did to me, you still I remember you as my best friend when I was 15 years old. It's not gonna cost you anything we'll just as friends are, let's just hang out together and do stuff together. And, and I'll help you to find that because it's not so hard to find. It's much harder to do what you've done and to find Europeans and to find yourself yourself. You are yourself. You can't not you can't not know yourself. He said as soon as I get home, I'm going to call you. That was 15 years ago, I never heard from him or heard from him since he IAri Gronich 1:09:25  knew that was coming.Daniel Bruce Levin 1:09:28  Yeah. And so I believe that people inside themselves really want to know themselves. But I believe they're scared to death to leave all the things that they think they have, because they don't think they can have. But knowing yourself doesn't mean you have to lose anything. Now what I say is it's just a change of perspective. You know,Ari Gronich 1:09:52  I'm a I'm a big fan of mirror work. I talk about it a lot on on the show. I'm just in, in my life in general, you know, I tell people I wouldn't recommend or wish my life on anyone, not that my life was so bad for for others, because I believe that we all are given what we can handle, and we're not given what other people can handle. So I may not have been able to handle having a silver spoon in my, you know, hand as much as I would have loved in theory to be born with that silver spoon. So, or, you know, in Trump's case, a gold, you know, gold plated spoon. But the thing is that, for me, mirror work is all about unraveling the mask. unraveling the things that we put on top of ourselves, I get to look in the mirror and uncover that. Right. So I find myself not by creating some new version of me or, or, or shifting or changing or, you know those things, and this is my philosophy. But by uncovering the real me and taking away the mask of trauma, the mask of experience the masks that I put on, right.Daniel Bruce Levin 1:11:36  So your man or the first person? Go ahead, I'm sorry,Ari Gronich 1:11:39  I'll let you complete I was just gonna ask you what masks Have you taken off and put on. I have masks allUnknown Speaker 1:11:51  male.Daniel Bruce Levin 1:11:56  It's almost easier to ask what masks have remained. And what masks have I take don

Get Your FREE COPY of  my book, 3 Signs of A Toxic Relationship, Now... www.marissafayecohen.com/signs-of-a-toxic-relationship Can you heal from abuse?  What do I do after leaving my narcissist? What does a healthy relationship look like? These concerns cross the minds of over 20 people every minute; over 28,800 people every day.  And the sad fact is, we still don’t talk about it enough.  Healing from Emotional Abuse isn’t a bandaid situation.  But it doesn’t have to take years either. The lives of millions of other survivors around the worlds have been impacted by their narcissist.  Yours doesn’t have to.  To show you how to live a free, confident and peaceful life, your host and Founder of the Healing From Emotional Abuse Philosophy, Marissa F. Cohen.   Marissa: Welcome back to Healing From Emotional Abuse. A couple months ago, there was a news report that hit the US for about 10 minutes about a gang rape in Israel in Eilat — a small city at the bottom tip of the country, on the Red Sea, which has been compared to Las Vegas-ish. And it didn't get a ton of media coverage. But apparently in Israel, it opened up the big to do about misogyny and the rape culture of Israel. So, I have the incredible honor of bringing on a friend of mine Tiferet Solomon. She is a bold, amazing Israeli activist who fights for the change in legislation around rape and rape culture. She'll tell you a little bit more about this. But four years ago, she had a rape attempt, and was able to get herself out of the situation. And we'll talk more about that in a minute. She has been fighting to change the legislation and policy in regards to rape drug victims in Israel. Thank you so much for being here Tiferet. I'm so excited to talk to you.   Tiferet: It's my pleasure, Marissa, thank you for inviting me,   Marissa: Of course. So, you had an experience, a rape attempt? Do you want to tell us a little bit about that, because I think that's kind of, as you said, what put you on the path to doing what you're doing today?   Tiferet: Right. So, about four years, actually, it's, it's four years ago and two months, to be exact. I was given a ride to this guy who I met through a Facebook group. I was going up north for the weekend. And I posted on a Facebook group for rides because it is a very small country. And the farthest distance you can go is about eight hours from one end to the other. So, it's very common that people will share rides, also they share with the cost and also, you know, it's nice to have company. So, I wasn't doing an eight-hour ride, I was doing a two-hour ride. But I posted it on Facebook group, I'm going up north, if anyone wants to join. And there were four people who join me, it was fine, everything was good. And then one of them said, I'd actually love to come back with you on Saturday night, back to Jerusalem. And I was more than happy to do so and we just talked the entire ride on the way back. It was just he and I. It was comfortable. I felt very safe and very listened to. Now, after the fact that I realized that I felt so safe and listened to it because he was listening intently to every single word I said and collecting as much information from me as possible. When we reached Jerusalem, it was like 12:39. I was supposed to go to a friend's birthday party. It was later so I wasn't sure if that's still there or not. And he said, would you like to come up with a bit of refreshments before you go? And I was like, you know what? Sure. 15 minutes, it's fine. As I mentioned, the car ride seemed comfortable and nice. And it seemed that we were actually really connecting. There was no sexual tension at all whatsoever. I have to like make that clear, because sometimes people go oh, maybe those mixed messages. No, not at all. I was very, very blunt and very clear about the fact that, that was not where I was at all. It was more just, we had a good time talking together. So, we went up to his house, his roommate was gone. I took with him my bottle of water, just in case I wanted to drink something. We went upstairs we were standing in the hallway outside like his bedroom / the kitchen / the bathroom. And he said, Let's go out for a smoke. And he asked me, wait do you want to drink? And I said No, I'm good. He's like water, coffee tea. And I was like, holding up the bottle in my hand with like a bit of a weird facing. Yeah, I bought with me. Thanks. I'm good. He's like, okay, I'll get the tobacco because then it's like common that people won't cigarettes as opposed to buying pre-rolled. And then he started rummaging on his table on his desk table in his bedroom, which was odd because I noticed on the corner, there was the package of tobacco just sitting there. I'm like, Okay, what am I supposed to do while he's doing this? And then I said, you know, fine, I'll go use the bathroom. And so, I said, I'm going to go excuse myself. When I came out of the bathroom, he came out from a different room with a different case of tobacco which again, you know, it's all of these things that you notice after the fact. In advance I didn't think it was weird because Chainsmokers, thank God I‘m not anymore, but tend to have a lot of tobacco is just lying randomly around the house. So, I really didn't think too much of it at the time. We went up to 12 pillows for both of us a cigarette, and like a single one, though. And who started talking. Mostly he was talking, I asked, you know what he does for a living. Tell me a little bit more about this project you're working on. And as he's talking and smoking, and I noticed, at some point that I lost train of thought he was talking about things that made sense, he was telling me about his book. And I would hand him the cigarette at times, and he would continue talking. And then each time it went down by the time he came to take a puff, and then he'd light it again. But then continue talking, and then come to take a puff. And again, it was out again. He’d light it, and then continue talking. And then he just gives it back to me, he wasn't really smoking. Again, things you don't notice in advance only after the fact. And at some point, I noticed, though, that I can't understand what he's talking about. Not because the words he's saying, aren't words that make sense, but rather, there's no logical connection between a moment ago, he was telling me about the book he's writing. And now he's throwing to me these random words from the field of Political Science and International Relations, which is the field of study that I was majoring in at the time in the university, and I told him about this during the car ride. And he's just throwing these random, like, you know, it's because of the Colonialization of the Post-Modern Economic Effects of and like, nothing made sense. But it was words that was supposedly comfortable for me. And I was trying to focus in and listen to what exactly he's saying and see, okay, maybe I'm just like, not following his train of thought. But once I listened more I realized, yeah, no, there's no logic here. I'm not even sure how long we've been sitting here. And like, everything started feeling very misty. And I said, what time is it? And he didn't answer you continue talking and was talking is very low, calm, monotonic voice. And I said, I think it's late and I should go. And he, again, didn't react, continue talking. He had his train of thought, and he was going with it. And I realized, okay, I feel like I'm losing consciousness. I feel like I'm losing grasp of reality, and like, something was really off. And I was scared that if I stood up and left, maybe he would try to stop me because something wasn't adding up. And I was starting to recognize, Okay, wait, I was the only one smoking. All of the things were slowly falling into place. So, I slowly got up. And I said, you know, I'm going to go. And he said, what we're having such a nice time. Don't want to stay? I was like, No, I'm going to head out. And I started slowly walking towards the door keeping like, half of my body turned towards him, half towards the stairs, because I was scared that if I turned around, he would grab me from behind, or try to stop me in a way that would cause me to trip over myself on the staircase. So, I was walking, consciously, out while slowly trying to create more distance between us without alarming him by running. And he's like, wait, I have to give you money for the car. I'm like, No it's really fine. It's all good. And I like open the door, and walked out. The second I left the door of his house, I ran to my car, which was parked like at the bottom of the street, right around the corner from his building. And I saw him from the corner of my eye running after me. And I ran even faster into the car. I locked the door, started the car and drove away as fast as I possibly could. While I was doing this, I called my mom. And I said, Mom, I've been drugged. I'm heading to a safe place where I'm going to call an ambulance and going to go to a hospital. Meet me there. And as I'm talking to her, I feel like I'm losing grip on reality. Like, everything is fading, and everything's blurry. And like, I can feel how I'm fighting to stay away, stay conscious. While I was really feeling like this heavy cloud coming over me and trying to like, wipe me out completely. And I had to stay with my mom on the phone actually, in order to drive because I thought like if I didn't talk out loud, I would lose it right then and then what's in the middle of the street. So, I drove to the side. It was about 500 meters away from his house, maybe a kilometer, and I called an ambulance. Now, I have EMT training in my past. I used to volunteer on an ambulance on a regular basis and, and I know how ambulances are supposed to work. And the ambulance that showed up was horrible. They didn't want to take me to the hospital. The paramedic who is the highest ranking official in the ambulance, sat down on the side lit a cigarette and started laughing and saying to his friend, Forget it. She's drunk or crazy. And I'm begging them in tears telling them you don't understand. I've been drugged, and I need to get to the hospital. And they would just, they thought I was insane. Now one of the first things that I always taught people, when I was teaching them how to volunteer and ambulance was, you are the first person that someone in need is going to meet. The most important thing you have to do is be there for them. Imagine how you would want your grandmother to be treated or your parents or you yourself and do that to the patient that you're meeting. Meaning that you are the first person who is really going to give assistance and, in a time of real dire need. But the way this team acted was so far from it, that I was sure that I concocted in my mind the fact that I actually was able to get out of his house. And I started thinking that I'm actually still at his house, and he's raping me. But in order to not feel what's going on, I am playing in my mind a safe scenario that I know from my past as an EMT, that is trying to overcome the trauma that I'm experiencing live. And it's not really happening. Now, they didn't want to take me away to the hospital, and this is going on. I ended up like trying to call another ambulance. But there's only one Ambulance Service really that people use and it's out. And I told him, I'm here with the ambulance, and they don't want to take me to the hospital. I need them to take me. And so thankfully, the person at the call center told them, okay, you're there, you're with her take her to the hospital. Now, besides this traumatic treatment that I had, from their side, they never once mentioned that there's a hospital in Jerusalem that actually has a, we call it an Acute Care Center. It's what it's used for people who are brought to the hospital with fear of sexual assault of any kind. The staff there also undergoes professional training in how to treat sexual assault victims. But also, they have legal standing, that allows the testimony and the tests and the entire process to actually be acceptable in court, which is a very important thing to note. So, they never mentioned that the hospital that takes care of that is not the one they took me to. Instead, they said, Yeah, we'll take you to [a different hospital], which is the one I told my mom to meet me at. And that's also what I was thinking. But I didn't know that there's this alternative and how important it was at the time. And again, I'll remind you, they didn't want to take me to the hospital to begin with. So, they brought me to the hospital, and the entire call light I was like, holding on for dear life to not lose consciousness. Because again, I was scared that I'm not actually being saved. But rather I'm still being attacked. And I needed to see a face I didn't recognize before I could let go. And I remember the second they brought me into the ICU, I saw a nurse walking, although I'd never seen him before in my life and that's it. Everything else went dark. That's where I lost consciousness. My mom and cousin apparently were there to meet the ambulance team. They got there already beforehand. And my mom acted as my advocate throughout the entire process because I was unconscious for about nine hours. And she told them, we think she's been drugged. We need blood tests and urine tests. And she said give me the samples, I’ll take them to a private lab. Apparently, that's not acceptable either. Because in order for it to have legal standing, it has to go through a lab that is recognized. At the beginning, the doctors were skeptical, they didn't put me in a room to take care or treat me. They rather just left me lying in the hallway with hope that my symptoms would pass because they, too, thought that I was you know, drunk or under different kinds of influence. Yeah, so that's about what really happened to me during this time, which really caused me to be much more aware of everything that's going on. There were a lot of mistakes that happened though, also in regards to the way the ambulance conducted itself. As I said, the hospital itself my mom pleaded and begged with them, please give me the test. They didn't agree. Then they said we will send them to a different hospital, which is the only Hospital in Israel that has a lab that can really check for, like drugs that has legal standing. And they said okay, we're going to send her blood test and her urine tests to that hospital and follow up with us. Now, there were policemen who came already before I woke up. The second, I gave the call really for an ambulance, the duty is to alert policemen and have them come to the hospital and collect testimony from the victims. They were standing around waiting for me to return to consciousness. My mom gave them my testimony and they said if she wants to come and open a case, then tell her that we already have the complaint filed in and it will be attached to that. And then, after I was released from the hospital, I went immediately to file a complaint, because this is a sad truth, and I think most places, but in Israel it’s know that if you don't give a complaint within the first 24 hours, the chances of it being treated as seriously go down by about 70%. There are many cases that people come in only later, because of the trauma and fear of dealing with it. And the difficulty of really coming in and giving testimony of whatever case it is. People many times don't do it immediately. But there have been a lot of cases in which when you actually come within the first 24 hours, it's treated much more seriously. And it's given a higher priority. I wouldn't say top priority, because unfortunately, sexual assault victims aren't top priority. But it's given somewhat more of a higher one. And also, that when I gave testimony, they told me, "Okay, we need to get your lab results from the hospital to be able to see which drugs were in your system. That's going to be a key part of us continuing with looking into your case, and what happened here. And we are going to let you know if there's any change or development in your case. And it has two years until it's closed automatically.” But they guaranteed me that I'd get updates. Now I have to say for the policeman's credit, the person who interrogated me, who I gave my testimony to was very, very calm; very sensitive. I was terrified, because you hear all these stories of policemen or people who take witness that accuse you. Well, how are you acting? What are you wearing? What was the interactive beforehand, and I was happily surprised that my experience was actually a positive one. And he guaranteed me that they'd be in touch with me. Two weeks later, I called the hospital to see if there was any news in regards to my test results. And I found out that they never sent my blood or urine samples to the hospital that can do the more advanced checks. Meaning the hospital that I was in does very, very basic toxin evaluation and blood and urine. They don't do the more advanced kinds. And they were supposed to send it to this hospital that has a special kind of testing, that also gives it legal standing, and also really has the ability to look for it. And they told me they never did. I call the doctor who was taking care of me and the ICU and I asked if I could have it. And he said what are you talking about? I told them to send it and he was shocked when I told him they didn't. And then he said one moment, I'm going to check something, wait on the line. And he calls me back and he says, I'm sorry, they didn't send it. And I said, “Why? You said that we need it. You said that you guys don't have the ability to at the police told me that we have to have these results in order to do that.” He said, I know. I told them to, they didn't. I'm sorry, I don't know why. So, this was heartbreaking. I mean, I was waiting these two weeks when I was already, you know, pretty much ready to give up on life and hardly getting out of bed at four o'clock in the afternoon. I was waiting for these results. And suddenly I find out that they when I was sent. That was the beginning, I guess, of what really got me involved in this. Because my tests will never send, I started looking into it and researching what usually happens. What's the status of rape drug victims in Israel, and how are they treated. And I found out that many times, the tests aren't even sent to the hospital that needs to have it. Not every hospital has an Acute Room. As I mentioned. Jerusalem specifically, we have three hospitals here. So actually, like you have a variety and you have a choice to go there if you wanted to. But there are other cities that don't have a hospital that has an acute room at all. And even the hospital that I was in who doesn't have the right room to treat me, they were supposed to send my test to the other hospital, which is the only hospital that has the lab to check for these kinds of drugs, and they didn't. And that's something that happens in many, many cases. And the more I looked into it, I found out how common unfortunately it is. There was a journalist in it, who wanted to really discuss this matter. And she reached out to me due to a Facebook post that I wrote seven months later in which I wanted to tell the world what happened to me to raise awareness to let people know that it's not just something you read about in newspapers that happens on the other side of the world, but it's happening here, and happening to people you know, and it's happening to an unassuming woman just gave a ride to a guy and thought that you know, we're talking it's all good so we can go have a smoke on his roof without anything happening. And that caused: A) A lot of people to also reach out to tell me stories that happened to them. Not necessarily about rape drugs; about rape, about sexual assault, about the depression that came after. About trying to deal with life. About the post trauma that comes up in dates on interactions. I found that this really opened up a can of worms, where people were sharing with me, I was sharing with others and, and I really found out how, unfortunately common not an assault is because that I already know, unfortunately. But the terrible treatment that the system has towards victims of sexual assault of all kinds. So, through my Facebook posts, I started working on legislation and policy changes. And we had our first somewhat successful policy change in December 2018. Where they released a policy that dictates that the hospitals must treat all victims who show signs of a rape drug, according to a specific process, and really take the test that are relevant, and send it to the relevant labs. Go through everything that's supposed to, in theory, a wonderful policy. Unfortunately, now we're finding out that it's not being implemented as it should. And so now, two years later, I am working on getting the implementation of that policy. But I'm happy to say that in these four years, the policy was written. So that changed, and also hospitals stopped throwing out rape drug kits, which was also a huge, huge achievement that we have worked very hard on, because I couldn't stand the fact that anyone else would be treated the way I was. So, there's still a lot more to go. But it's an uphill battle. Things are changing slowly, slowly. But there's a lot to do there. And as time goes on, I just see more and more how lacking the system can be. And when it comes to this matter, which I'm sure you know, you come and you're looking for like that lifeline to save you and help you and protect you. And having the system turn their back on you is horrible. And it can be even worse than not trying to get help at all. So, I'm working to change that.   Marissa: You brought up so many good points. Thank you, first and foremost for sharing your story. Because it is heartbreaking. When your first line of defense, looks at you laughs and pulls out a cigarette because they just don't care or they don't believe you. I feel like that's even more horrifying than being told we don't believe you. Because in that person's behavior in the paramedic’s behavior, they basically shut you down and didn't even have the Kahunas right, like they didn't even have the guts to tell you, you we don't believe you. There's like, Oh, she's drunk, let's just this is break time for us now. And that's so disheartening, especially when you're going through something so traumatic, that the first person you meet that's supposed to help you just doesn't care, and then to be continuously shot down by every person you come into contact with. I mean, man, you are, you're a tough cookie, I am so inspired by you. So, thank you for doing what you're doing and changing the legislation.   Tiferet: Thank you. I appreciate that. And thank you for what you're doing. Spreading the word is definitely, without a doubt, very, very important.   Marissa: Thank you very much. But it's people like you who are doing the real changes. So, thank you. Let's talk a little bit about rape culture in Israel. So I, in the states, rape culture is a mixed bag, right? Little boys grow up being taught, you're not allowed to cry, you have to be tough. So that manifests in anger and rage and they don't know how to reach out, they act aggressively. Not all men I'm not trying to generalize, but basically, rape culture is very widely ignored for children. And it manifests in aggressive, abusive behavior later. What is Israel's rape culture Like?   Tiferet: Honestly, I think that when you look at rape culture, I wouldn't necessarily look at the fact that men aren't necessarily, sorry little boys aren't necessarily taught to connect to their feelings and express them in a way that they that they feel comfortable with. It's also the fact that men and young boys are taught the way women interact is fake or they're playing a game. When you go on a date with someone and she says no, at the beginning when you try to kiss her, that's just part of the game. Okay, so she's paying hard to get. I had a guy who told me and this was when I was, I want to say 22 or 23. He was 32, I think. Maybe 31. He told me there isn't a woman who doesn't give, there's a man doesn't know how to take. Sorry, it’s a rough translation from Hebrew. But the point was, “There's no such thing as a woman who isn't willing to sleep with you. It's a matter of are you a man doesn't know how to take it.” And I was horrified Because this was four years ago, five years ago. And that was a statement that he saw no problem in saying, and the bigger problem was that it's a sentence that he's heard from other people as well. And its other men who feel this way, as well. So, there's very much that culture of, you know, did you nail her? No, did you get in her pants? Did you play hard to get? And that's something that's still very, very present, and very, very common. And I think that's the bigger problem, where you're teaching men that they should read the signs that the women are giving in the wrong way. And honestly, I'm not disregarding women's part in this also. Women are also taught, don't give in immediately. You can't sleep with a guy on the first date — that turns you into a tramp. There's nothing wrong with sleeping with a guy on your first date if you want to, and if he wants to, and if you both are supportive and respectful and connecting and present in the moment. But like, when it comes to the interactions in between men and women, I feel like we're still teaching these 100-year-old rules of how to do things. And there's something very, very lacking in, Okay, well, much more developed and connected to our emotions and to complexities of life. And don't talk with your friends, or you’re with, especially when you see a group of male friends. Don't talk with your group of male friends about that woman's ass, or how sexy she is, or the fact that everyone has gotten a piece of him. And that's something that for some reason isn't, you know, that I like, and I don't know, if I'm generalizing here, and I don't want to, but it's something very possessive And…   Marissa: It's aggressive.   Tiferet: And unfortunately, it still is something that you hear on conversations. I think people feel less comfortable about making these comments now in the presence of women, which sometimes they used to do more. But it still might happen between a group of men. You know, in a Facebook group; in a WhatsApp group. I had a friend who told me a few, like two or three years ago that she found that there's this Facebook group that men post naked women. Have pictures of naked women that are sent to them, whether it's by their girlfriends, or by one-night stands or that they find online. And it's disgusting. Whether it's a woman who sent you a picture of her naked by choice, that's fine. But then you're taking it and sharing it with a group of other people who have absolutely no rights to it. And so, there's something very much in the culture itself, I would say that is a little more than a little problematic. A lot problematic. And then there's also and this I can't emphasize enough, the system that doesn't take care of it as they should. For example, a few days ago, there was a case of a man who attacked his wife and her beat up and stabbed her. He was horrible. And he was really taking out all of his anger and aggression on her in the worst possible way, in front of the one-and-a-half-year-old. And the judge decided that he doesn't want to release the name of the man, because he doesn't want to and these are his words, “Hurt his reputation." Now, this is a man who ruined his own reputation within a couple of hours, by beating up and stabbing his wife in front of his child. And the judge doesn't want to release his name because he's trying to protect his reputation?   Marissa: I just had a horrible, a horrible flashback to Brock Turner. Did you guys hear about that case at all?   Tiferet: Yeah, I mean things travel.   Marissa: Yeah. I mean, that sounds like Brock Turner. Oh, well, we don't want to ruin his life. He already ruined his life when he, you know, stabbed his wife. Brock Turner ruined his life when he took an unconscious girl and raped her behind the garbage can. Like that was an action that determines and defines the person's personality.   Tiferet: Exactly. But for some reason, when it comes to sexual assault, or rape, there's much more room for temporary insanity. It seems that people don't like to claim temporary insanity, except for one come to these cases. Then it’s like, “Oh, no, he wasn't thinking. He was under the influence of alcohol." Like if he was driving drunk and killed someone you wouldn't treat it that way. But when it comes to sexual assault or rape, oh, no, you know, it's understandable. It happens. Sometimes it's very dismissive. And when the system that is supposed to protect you is dismissive, you can't really expect other people to act other ways.   Marissa: I'm so glad that you brought that up. When I lived in Israel, I lived in Herzliyya. And we would go to Herzilyya Pituach and go out to, you know, clubs and bars and whatever. And I noticed that guys, like you had mentioned before, we're so much more willing to come up right behind me put their hands on my waist and pull me into them to dance on me, even if I didn't know them. And, and when I would try and get away from them or move and be kind of polite about it, there was really no change, right? They’d just pull me back in.   Tiferet: Right. Because you're playing the game, you're not supposed to give it immediately.   Marissa: Right. And I didn't, I mean, coming from America, I didn't know that. So, I learned very quickly that the only way at least in 2010, the only way to get them off you, was to elbow them really hard in the ribs. And if I didn't elbow them really hard in the ribs, they would keep pulling me back in. So, I mean, it makes so much sense now that you said it like that, that it's a game. You know, oh, I'm supposed to pull away because I really want to dance with you, when that's not truly the case. And that element of consent doesn't really matter.   Tiferet: Right, for some reason we don’t, and I think this is really a huge lacking, we don't teach enough respect for — well I think it goes both ways. Men aren't taught enough respect. When you hear a no, because they're taught, they're playing the game. And women aren't taught enough, don't play it hard to get. Be straightforward about what you want. There's nothing wrong with choosing this way or the other way. But be straightforward about it. Don't play games.   Marissa: Yes, absolutely. So, let's move on to around 2018. Right, the #MeToo movement happened here. And it spread really fast around the world, right? You guys felt the me to movement by you? Right?   Tiferet: Definitely. Yes, that was global.   Marissa: So, did anything change after 2018?   Tiferet: So actually, speaking of the system that's supposed to protect you. So, another article that I participated in was, after MeToo got really, really strong. There was this huge social movement that came from Facebook, where people started sharing their MeToo stories, which happened also in the States, I know. And then in Israel, there was also a MeToo — that I was also assaulted or attacked in whatever way once; and then there was also, MeToo — I turned to the system for help, and I was turned away. And then they did a front-page article on one of the Unwind Edits — it's one of the leading newspapers in Israel. We were a front page spread, they bought six of us to interview about, it was really because of the MeToo, you were attacked, you complained, and then you were turned away. And they did a huge bed of like four or five pages in the weekend newspaper, centerfold, about the six of us who came complained, gave testimony, and then were turned away. And how the system turned their back on us. And that was also a huge thing that MeToo did here, which was positive. And this in the sense of shedding more light on the way the police and the hospitals and the court system acts in regards to sexual assault victims. So, there was also a change in regards to sharing stories of what happened, and also a change in regards to, how was I treated by the system? How did the police treat me? How did hospitals treat me? How did the court system treat me. That started really, I would say, October 2018 and it's only been getting stronger. And specifically now due to the case in Eilat, it got much stronger? The volume in which people are crying out and sharing their side has risen immensely.   Marissa: So, let's talk about that. I'm really glad that things are getting better there. Or at least the protocols are tightening up a little bit, so that survivors feel more supported. We're still fighting that battle here, too. But I feel like we are a little bit further along than Israel might be. I don't know if that's rude to say. I didn't mean it that way.   Tiferet: No, that’s probably fair. I would say that the social awareness has gotten higher. I don't know that the actual system has gotten much better. But we're working on that as well. Definitely. We're working on that.   Marissa: Good, because that's so important. So, let's talk about what happened this year. So, this is how I heard it and I could be wrong. So please correct me if I'm wrong. But the story that we were told was that there was a girl in Eilat who was gang raped. And that was it. That's all we got. So, I don't know what happened after, as far as her healing. But then it's telling us that the rape culture in Israel was being overturned. And there was like a lot of people that were painting over misogynistic phrases, and pictures, and statues, or whatever things that were around Israel, that were misogynistic, were being taken down. Is that accurate?   Tiferet: So actually, I didn't hear this side of taking down things that have to do with Israel. I'm sorry about that. What happened was, and I have to say it was a bit of a mess, because also, here information was released in pieces. And the information at the beginning was vague, to say the least. But it started by there was a gang rape a 16-year-old girl with 30 men and that's what most people heard. Exactly. Now. That's what's going on. And for about a week, that's what was on the headlines of every single newspaper, and every single news article out there. A 16-year-old girl was raped by 30 men. And then, you know, the next day, they said, “Oh, it wasn't men, it was some men and some young boys.” And they started trying to understand exactly what's going on but for about a week, we thought it was really 30 men. And what you saw all over Facebook was people crying out. How is this possible? This is a sign of lacking for us as a people. Culturally, we did something wrong if we reached the point where a 16-year-old girl is in Eilat, and is raped by 30 men. And it was really crying of outrage from every single corner. And then about a week later, it was released, “Oh, it wasn't 30 men. It was 10 or about 10.” And then that was I mean, as I say, it's all horrible. It's all awful. When I say interesting, I don't mean in the positive way. But then there was a very interesting change, where suddenly you saw some people writing, “Oh, it's only 10 men. Not that it's good, but it's not 30.” And then you saw other people who came out with declarations of, “To you who said, the difference between 30, and the difference between 10 is meaningful, you’re part of the problem.” And that really brought up even, actually, a larger wave of awareness because they said it doesn't matter if it's 30 or if it's 10. It shouldn't be one to begin with. And, yes, if we're looking at gang rape in this sense, it's horrible no matter what. And there were so many cries of outrage. And people really started posting about it. And there were a bunch of different socialites, whether it's actors, singers, or different relevant social entities, that came up with their own videos saying it was men. This was actually, there were two of them that came out, they are very, very powerful, where they talked about, what you hear as a man in your background. “Now, what does that mean about you as a person? If you actually listen to those people who are telling you, No, did you? Did you nail her? How far did you go? She says, No, then don't listen, try harder…” Like it was it was very, it was done very, very well and very powerfully. And they said, it's our responsibility. It's my responsibility. And these men who are public figures, and very meaningful in the cultural life in Israel, and they came out and said, it's my job to change this. It's your job to change this. What's going on here is something that has to do with us as a people. And it's a horrible sign of our culture and we have to make the changes on a personal level. So, it was very, very negative and it brought out the very, very positive and fruitful results and how the board reacted to it. Unfortunately, we just had this case a few days ago, where a man stabbed his wife. So…   Marissa: I'll bet that that's not the first time that he has been aggressive or violent to her. In fact, I'd bet my life on it. Because stuff like that to pattern that grows and grows. Right? Exactly. This was just the final straw. This was the most recent explosion in a series of explosions. So, I'm looking at an article. It's from November 2019. So, it's a little bit old and it's before all of this social media hype. But it said that, 90% of rape cases in Israel are closed without indictment, and that the numbers of people turning to rape crisis centers for assistance has increased by 40% in the last five years. And it's saying that the number of calls or complaints filed to rape crisis centers in 2018 was 51,000 And it was 40,000 in 2013. So, do you think, as an Israeli, do you think that is because everything is starting to put itself together and processes and protocols are being put in place or do you think it's Because it's happening more?   Tiferet: I think it's because people feel more supported to share what happened to them. Meaning it's not necessarily things that are happening more. But rather, cases that in the past weren't necessarily brought to light, are now being brought to light. So, I have a friend who due to what happened in Eilat, decided that she's sick and tired of the way things are being dealt with when it comes to sexual assault, and rape in Israel, and she started posting her personal stories. And she said, I'm going to start with the story that most people know about me. That I was raped when I was 14, by someone who was 21 at the time, and she came to the police and complained about it. I guess, nine years later. And the police closed the case, because after researching and looking into the details, they declared that that he didn't really know that she was under age, and it wasn't done through malice. And she proves, and then this is something that you bought out through Facebook; she proves how they knew. He knew that she was 14, because she told him specifically in these messages, they met in a chat room. And he had no problem with going out with her when she was 14 and doing what he did. And so that was the first story she told. And then she started sharing other stories that happened to her. About the fact that when she was a teenager she used to babysit for this family. And after a while her parents were going through a divorce. So, she was going through a bit of a hard time personally. And she liked spending time with this couple who she would babysit their children when they were out. At some point she said they started coming home a little bit earlier. And we just started hanging out the three of us. And then at some point, the husband would invite friends over and she started hanging out with this group of our friends. I remind you, she's 15 at the time babysitting, his children, and he's around 30 years old. And she said that apparently it started becoming a thing that they would invite her to join when they would hang out as a group of friends. And then she was invited by just one of them to hang out. And they ended up sleeping together. And then she was invited by another and it became this thing that they sort of, sorry for terminology, passing her around. And none of them at any point, thought there was a problem here. That she's a 15-year-old girl. Now she, as I mentioned, her parents were going through a divorce. It was a hard time. She felt that she was getting attention, and she felt that she was loved. And she said like, on the one hand she didn't understand really why they're treating her like an adult fully. But on the other hand, she felt very grown up because they were treating her like an adult. And at some point, one of the wives found out what was going on and had a hissy fit at her husband and caused everything to blow up, thank God. And they stopped doing this. And then she started revealing though all of these other cases. And she has like these nine different stories of men who took advantage of her. One of them who came to pick up a date, and they were in the car alone, and he raped her. Another guy who was her neighbor and she had a mouse in her house and she was scared. So, she asked if she could stay there while the exterminator was supposed to come. And then when his girlfriend was in the shower, he walked over and grabbed her breast. And there's so many stories that she's just revealing because she says, I'm sick and tired of the fact that people don't tell their stories, or people behave this way. And the system keeps turning their back on us. And that's also something that you see happening more. People feeling socially comfortable to share their stories, because even if the police aren't fully doing their job, or the court system isn't fully doing its job, they are getting social support. And this way, the victim from Eilat, a different friend of mine started a fundraiser for her, for legal aid due to this. And they reached their goal of, I think, half a million within 24 hours. And then for this woman who was just stabbed by her husband, a different friend started for her also a fund for legal support, and they reach their goal of a million, I think also within like three days. So, you see social media as much more support and much more being done. And the system… It's a bureaucratic system. That's a little difficult to change, but I do, I do believe that it's slowly going to get better.   Marissa: That's incredible. Well, you're making amazing strides and the people who you're working with and your friends are also doing such incredible things. I mean, thank you guys for your hard work and I know it can't be easy. You're basically fighting the Empire. Right? You're fighting the head honchos, but you guys are doing such incredible work. So, thank you and just keep fighting, you know?   Tiferet: Thank you. Thank you as well. Marissa, you’re helping to also share, and put out the voices and the information.  Yes, we’re all doing this together. And it's our pleasure to try and make the world actually a better place.   Marissa: So, my last question for you, I ask everyone who comes on this show, what advice would you give to survivors who are going through the healing process? Who are trying to get help and break their silence after sexual assault?   Tiferet: Wow, that's a good one. So, I mean, look, it's sad to say, but Sexual assault is not a new thing. Or something that like my case of being drugged, that wasn't the first time something like that happened to me. I mean, the numerous cases throughout all of my years, starting when I was five years old, that I've been experiencing things like this. But when something comes, that really breaks you, and kills a piece of your soul, which is completely and totally what I felt, it's a small achievement, that sort of Wow, you. I remember thinking, at the time, when I was, again, completely and totally depressed, how to getting out of bed or quit my jobs, stopped University, even though I was right in the middle of doing very well. The fact that I got out of bed at four o'clock in the afternoon was like, Wow, look at that. And the fact that a Sunday would come by, oh, a new weekend would arrive, I'd be like, Whoa, I didn't think like, it's not even that I didn't think I would live but, in a way, I didn't think I would live to see another Sunday. And I really needed something to, to hold on to that was more meaningful than you know, “It's going to be okay,” because I knew it was going to be okay. And one day I was going to be passive. But I was having trouble seeing how that would ever happen. So, I needed something more feasible. And I, one night, it was like, four o'clock in the morning, which also something that happened. I would spend most of my waking hours at night when the rest of the world was asleep, because then I felt most safe and most peace, somewhat at peace, with a quiet world. So, I wonder my bedroom, and I started writing on the wall, my wish list. And it was my list of the wishes that I want to complete At some point, in order to, I guess, make myself happy. It wasn't even happy, because be happy was the first thing on the list. So, it wasn't even be happy. But it was these small goals that I was hoping I could achieve in the next, you know, foreseeable future. And that I felt could help me pull myself out of the hole that I was in. So, you know, it was the first one, as I said, was be happy. And the second one was breathing easily again. And then it also went into other things that were, whether they were they developed due to what I was going to — with eating disorders that went completely and totally out of hand; And so, I had really, as one of my wishes, eat without guilt, or stop throwing up. And I also had things like, be a positive change in society. Not let my own feelings about what people expect of me dictate who I'm going to be. So, there was some really big things there. But there were also little things like, dream Sweet dreams again. And what's amazing, and still to this day, I love looking at that one. It's still relevant. And there are times in my life that I looked at it and I said, Wow, I completed it. And there are times that I said, No, I'm not there yet. Even though last time I looked at it, I felt like I completed most of the things I put on that list. But it's interesting to see how things that were very much relevant then, meet me in a very different place now. And I want to say more positively relevant, because then it was really from a heart place of smile again, or wake up in a good mood. And now it's a much calmer and more settled place. So, I guess what I would give us as advice is set small goals and large ones, and really aim to achieve them. Whether it's in a month or in a year. But I found that setting those small goals in a timeframe that is not you know, one day I'll be happy, but rather much more current day, helps to achieve them succeed.   Marissa: I love that. Oh my gosh. I challenge anybody listening to this episode, to make your own list of things that will make you happy or things that you want to overcome and put it somewhere like on your wall next to your bed or on the mirror in your bathroom, so you can see it every day and rate where you are. Oh my gosh, Tiferet that was incredible. Thank you so much for everything you're doing and for being here, and supporting survivors all over the world.   Tiferet: Thank you My pleasure.   If you enjoyed this podcast, you have to check out www. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/instituto-carol-valdes/message

Hence, our ‘new science’ is a return to the oldest of sciences, as we have holistic knowledge traditions both in our own culture and in Huna and other native cultures that have all very old holistic science traditions.

Its nice to see you here today on this beautiful spring day, and I hope youre all thankful for trees. If I were to ask you a question about one of the prevailing philosophies in our world, in our culture, today-we talked about world views, and we talked about evolution in the past-yet this philosophy is probably the underlying philosophy that evolution results in. This permeates our culture everywhere. If I were to ask you the question: what do Hugh Hefner, drug addiction, beer advertisements, and about half of our music and movie themes have in common, would I have any takers? What do you think? What do all those things have in common? One basic theme is that were to live for pleasure. When I was a kid growing up-I dont think this is around anymore-was you only go around once in life, so you gotta grab for all the gusto you can. See, you guys still remember that. It was a great advertisement, and, friends, thats the way it is in our culture. Whether you sell toothpaste or cars or whatever it is today, thats the predominant theme. This toothpaste, this nail polish, this lipstick, this car will make your life more exciting! It will give you pleasure! You will enjoy life and be happy in a way that you would not if you didnt buy this! Right? And so as we think about that, does anybody know the word that that philosophy entails-that we ought to live for pleasure? Anybody know what that is? Its called hedonism, and it goes all the way back to the Greeks and many, many moons ago-3,500 years ago. That was one of the huge philosophies, We should do everything that we do for pleasure. Thats very much our culture: if it feels good, do it. Why should I deny myself? Were here to have a good time, and the better time we can have, the earlier we can have it, the better. Now, having said all that, let me ask you a question: so, should we live for pleasure? Think about that for a second, and while youre thinking about that, our wonderful tech team-who was awesome in the first service, by the way-just mad props to you guys. I was jumping all over creation, and they were following me, but were gonna stick Revelation 4:11 up on the screen in the old King James because it says it in a way that some of the newer translations dont. If I were to ask you that question as Christians, a lot of times our immediate response would be, No, we should not live for pleasure. Well, I have news for you. Listen to this verse: You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power, for Youve created all things and for Your… what? Pleasure, …they are and were created. Why does God say He does everything He does? He enjoys it. It gives Him pleasure. He likes it! He likes it-thats why God does what He does. He enjoys it, and, friends, heres the interesting thing as we think about that verse, a couple thoughts: number one, what are you here to do? Rick Warren talked about The Purpose Driven Life. Well, what is your purpose in life? Youre here, according to that verse, to please God. I mean it is the basic foundation of your character. Youve been designed to please somebody else other than yourself. Well talk about that a little bit more in a minute. The second thing is that because you were made in the image of God, you were made to enjoy things. You were made for pleasure. In fact, the predominate motivating factor in your life is pleasure. Why? Because you were made in Gods image. Pleasure is not necessarily wrong in and of itself. The focus is-and well talk about it a bit when we look at Moses-how long that pleasure lasts. In fact, the problem with sin is that nobody ever said sin wasnt fun, right? If they say sin isnt fun, theyre lying to you. The problem with sin is, what? The pleasure that you get from that doesnt last. God offers eternal pleasure, eternal joy, and eternal rewards-in fact, eternal glory. God calls us as individuals made in His image to live for those eternal and long-lasting choices, so as you look at that verse that says, God made everything for His pleasure, that is inherit in that. Then theres the paradox. Philosophers call it the paradox of hedonism-that, like our Founding Fathers said it the Declaration of Independence-you choose to pursue happiness… You know, were endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights. Among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If you choose to pursue happiness and pleasure in and of itself, you find something amazing. This paradox says that you wont find it. If you forget God, you forget everybody else, and pursue pleasure, youre doomed to a life of misery and sorrow. I think of Ernest Hemingway who pursued a life of pleasure. He was a mans man. He was everything that guys are supposed to be according to our worlds culture and ended up killing himself with his shotgun because…life was meaningless. After hed done everything and pursued every pleasure imaginable, there was no reason to go on living. He killed himself. Alexander the Great, of course, weeps at the age of 31 that theres no more worlds to conquer. The paradox is that happiness, pleasure, and joy are byproducts. In fact, in our culture, to please somebody else or to please others, thats often set in a bad connotation or context, right? If I were to say, you should please others-now Im not talking about being a people pleaser in the sense that I wont stand up for right or wrong. Thats not what were talking about because pleasing God comes first. Paul says that were to please our neighbors for theyre good to edification. The amazing thing is God says, Thats the way to real pleasure for ourselves. Thats what you were designed to do. When you please God and please others, something amazing happens. You find pleasure; you find joy; and you find blessing and happiness in ways that you would not otherwise. Were gonna delve in to that a little bit deeper here. Lets turn to the Book of Hebrews, or we can look at the verses up on the screen. Hebrews 11:24-26 (page 1192 of pew Bibles), I want to look at three groups of people-Moses, martyrs and the Messiah. There you go; theres three Ms for you. To begin with-Moses. Look at what it says about Moses. It says, By faith, Moses, when he had grown up, he refused to be known as the son of Pharaohs daughter. Well hold it there for just a second because I want you to think about this: in our culture, we dont think much when we read those words; we kind of gloss over them. It doesnt seem that big of deal. Friends, if Moses were in our culture today, he would have everything that our culture says is cool. He would have money absolutely coming out his ears. Egypt was the world power at the time. Egypt had a culture that no one else had. They had civilization advancements in ways that other people did not. They had the best architecture, the best buildings, the best riches, the best luxuries. You name it, Egypt had it. Not only is Moses living in that culture, but he is one of the big Kahunas. Hes one of the top dogs. In fact, hes in line as the sun of Pharaohs daughter to end up possibly taking the throne himself and being worshipped as God some day. That would be very big in a lot of circles, right? You see our movie stars, sports stars, music stars; in fact, its interesting, we dont call it American Idol for nothing, do we? Theres a lot of idolatry that goes on-a lot of worship. People long to be worshipped; they long to be exalted. They want everybody to recognize them. Notice me, and interestingly Moses gave all that up. He said he didnt count it as a big deal. It wasnt important to him. Lets go on to the next verse. Look at what he says, He chose to be mistreated… You have wealth, luxury. You have wealth, luxury-I mean he drove the Rolls Royce of chariots, and he chose to give it all up to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. Look at that last line. I talked about this earlier, but, friends, if someone tells you sin isnt fun, theyre lying. If sin wasnt fun, would it be a temptation? No. But whats the problem? Look at that verse. Whats the problem with sin and its pleasures? It doesnt last. Its only for a short time. I wont go in to it, but one of the most well-known studies, psychological cultures, a Stanford marshmallow study, you look that up some time. Ive talked about it before, but that challenges us that the thing that is most essential for success anywhere is the ability to delay our gratification, to put it off for the future. Its interesting that God is interested in teaching us to wait, isnt He? The process of maturity, in fact, is learning how to wait. Thats the essence of prayer. God encourages us in prayer by saying yes sometimes. Sometimes He says yes very quickly. Any of you who have prayed very long know that God often tells you to…wait. I always say God answers every single prayer ever asked. Sometimes He says yes; sometimes He says no; sometimes He says…wait, but He always answers. But, friends, thats what Gods trying to teach you-to wait. Thats where maturity comes, and that's the essence of real growth. Moses chose to suffer affliction with the people of God rather than to enjoy short-term pleasure. Heres the interesting reason why: it says he regarded the disgrace for the sake of Christ as greater value than the treasures of Egypt-because he was looking ahead to his reward. God is an unbelievable motivator. He knows how to encourage people. God challenges you to live the Christian life, why? Look at the words there, …because there are things of greater value… and …because you are looking ahead to, what? Reward. Thats the essence of the Christian life. God tells us, Take the mature look. Look ahead toward reward. In fact, Jesus talked about this often. He assumed that you would do things that were for your good, in your best interest. Thats why He said, What does it profit a man or a person if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? What does Jesus assume you will live for in that verse? Profit. Hes saying, Look, take the longest look. Do the most profitable thing. Invest in eternity. Thats the wisest choice. Lets look at the next group of people. If you didnt comprehend this, this would make no sense at all. He talks about the martyrs. Before this, he talks about a group of people who say miraculous things happen. They won amazing battles, you know-David and Goliath type stuff; Gideon defeats a massive army with 300 men; women receive back their dead raised to life again, and then he stops, and he changes. He says there was one group of people that had all kinds of amazing things happen to them, but theres another group of people who were tortured, and they refused to be released. Why did they do that? So that they might gain a better resurrection. Why would you choose to go through suffering, heartache, and pain? The answer is for better a resurrection. They were looking for future rewards, future joy, and future happiness. In fact, you know that in this life, theres a basic principle. We talk about easy come, easy go. The other side of the coin is often also true. The more something costs you, the more youve been through, the greater the rewards will be and the more joy you have-the more ecstasy, the more excitement that you will have when you reach those rewards. I think about the first state championship I ever won, a private school state championship with a group of girls that just made an unbelievable team. Those young ladies worked really, really hard. In fact, later on, when I went to public schools and even in college, I had kids gripe about doing not even a tenth of what girls in fourth grade did for me at that school because they thought it was too much, too hard. Yet, because wed been able to develop the culture in that school, girls would walk in in fourth grade, start every single practice with passing 1,000 balls from this little two foot by three foot rectangle on a wall. They never thought a thing of it. That was just the culture. You watched those girls work and work and work and work and listen and do what you said. Finally, it was the final point of that last game in the title game we won. I remember taking my clipboard and throwing it all the way up to the top of the gymnasium; and it was exciting, and it was fun to watch the girls get awards and metals, be all state, and raise trophies. It was exciting and exhilarating, and they still talk about that today. And it mattered, and it meant so much, why? Because they had put so much in to it, and they recognized that. Friends, that is the basic pattern. God says the more something costs you, the more youre going to enjoy it. Why will Jesus Christ enjoy eternity more than anyone else? Because it cost Him more than it cost anybody else. He will be the happiest, most joyful, most exhilarated, most exalted, most glorified person in the entire universe. Why? Because no one ever suffered in the way He did. Thats why theres a group of young men. In fact, theyre the brothers of Joshua Harris. About ten years ago, Joshua Harris wrote a book called, I Kissed Dating Goodbye, that made the rounds in Christian culture. He has two brothers that go around, do seminars and challenge young people their age to do hard things. Why would they do that? Why do hard things? Because they realize theres an inherent benefit of doing really hard things. It makes life more meaningful. It makes life more exciting, more exhilarating because theres a joy to reaping the benefits of doing hard things. The last thing, as you look at that, we want to focus on Christ-look at the words of Christ in Hebrews 12:1-2. If you doubt what I was saying about pleasure and reward, look at Jesus. If I were to ask you this morning why Jesus died, theres actually a multitude of reasons or one of my favorite words, a plethora, or reasons. There are a lot of reasons Jesus died. He died to pay for our sins. He died to satisfy divine justice. He died to please the Father, but Hebrews 12:1-2 (page 1193 of pew Bibles) says it this way, Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author or the starter and perfecter or finisher. Hes talking about a race-start and finish, of our race who for the joy set before Him endured the cross scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of God. Now, dont gloss over that. Why did He do all that? For the…what? Say that again. For the… A couple of you get it. He did all of that for the, what set before Him? Youre getting there-joy, joy. Try it once more. He did it for the joys. Is it just me, or…? Lets try it one more time, okay? It says, Look to Jesus, who… for the what? Joy. Oh, were getting better. I must have woken everybody up. …set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of God. Why did Jesus do what He did? The same reason God created the world. For pleasure, for joy. That saw Him through-the knowledge of what He was going to receive. In fact, Psalms says it this way: After He did his work for God, He sat down at the right hand of God thereafter expecting that His enemies who were going to be made His footstool. Thatd be something exciting to look forward to. Jesus is the example of that for us as we think about eternity. Matthew 25:23 says that someday well stand before God and hear our Master say to us, Well done, good and faithful servant. Youve been faithful over a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Masters happiness, or the old King James, Enter into the joy of the Lord. What does He say Heaven is going to be? A place of joy and happiness. Whats the reward for following God? Its joy; its happiness. Likewise, as we group these things together, I challenge you, friends. We think back in the very beginning of the Bible, we see this in Genesis 15. One of the very first ways that God reveals Himself to mankind to Abram in Genesis 15 is by saying, After this, the Word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, Do not be afraid, Abram. Im your shield and your very great… what? [Congregation says, Reward.] Hey, you guys are getting better. …your very great reward. Thats reward! And its interesting-God reveals Himself this way in the very first Book of the Bible, and also almost the last thing God says in the Book of Revelation is this: Jesus says, Behold, Im coming soon. My…reward is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. The beginning and the end-God says, Im here to reward. Have you ever wondered why 2,000 years after Jesus lived, died and rose again, He has followers the world over who are still willing to die for Him? Because Jesus gets what many bosses dont get. Have you ever had a boss that you worked for that never noticed you till you did something wrong? Had a few of those? Its like you go day after day after day, and they ignore you and they ignore you and they ignore you until low and behold, you mess something up or do something wrong and boom! They jump all over you and let you know that you really messed up! Is God that way? I dont think so. In fact, as you talk about this principle, one of my favorite passages-Hebrews 11:6, lets look at this verse (page 1192 of pew Bibles). Look what it says about God, …without faith it is impossible to please God… Notice what were here to do-please God. Whats the benefit of that? I end up finding pleasure myself. Thats the paradox. Its like knowing God. Jesus said knowing God was eternal life. The amazing thing is the more you know about God, who else do you discover? Yourself in ways you never would have otherwise. The same thing is here. He says, …without faith, it is impossible to please God. He who comes to God must believe two things about God. Number one, he must believe that God exists, and number two, what do you have to believe about God to please Him? You have to believe that He really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really likes rewarding people. Have you ever thought that way about God? He really likes rewarding people. Thats what that says. In fact, He says if you dont believe that about God, you cant please Him. Now that should challenge you. Its why Jesus reveals His Father in Heaven as the One who says, I saw you give that person a cup of cold water. I saw you give that person a seat. I saw you let them cut in line ahead of you. I saw you let them go ahead of you. Im going to reward that. Hes not like our bosses that ignore us until we do something wrong. In fact, God is the One who-He may not reward you immediately, but He doesnt forget anything. The smallest thing, He notices all of it, and you can bank on it that there will be a reward for it someday. That also challenges us in our personal lives. If youre here this morning, Im assuming that you want to be like Christ. If youre a follower of God, what does that mean? That should mean that you really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really like rewarding people too. How many people cross your path day after day after day that do things for you and you never say thank you? Young people, how many meals has your mom fixed for you? How many loads of laundry has she done for you? How many times has she driven you in a car? How many times has your mom and dad put a roof over your head and done a number of unknown things for you, and you never say thank you? You see, to be like Christ is to continually reward and notice the good that other people do. That makes you very much like Him. If youre in charge of people, do you regularly praise them for their efforts, tell them thank you for their efforts, and notice the good things that they do? Honor people around you. That's the image of Christ, and thats the image of God. He calls us to be that way. As we look at the subject of pleasure and joy, Ill have you notice the flip side of the coin too. So should we only do things because of reward? Well, theres a balance. Lets look at 1 Timothy 6:17 (page 1177). He says, Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Notice why God says He gives us everything. For what? For our enjoyment. I just read an article by a preacher this week who said, Drink orange juice to the glory of God. Paul says, Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all of the glory of God. So how do you drink orange juice to the glory of God? You start by telling Him thank you for the orange juice, right? And if its good for you because it gives you vitamins, minerals and nutrients in your body-its the temple of the Holy Spirit-well, that might be a good reason to drink orange juice. Maybe you can share some orange juice with somebody, but then youre on the right track. Youre thinking, Why do I do things? Even the smallest things, am I doing it to please God? Am I doing it to please and bless others? If so, Im going to reap the reward of that as well. But you and I know that there is also a blessing from giving. Do we just do things for rewards? In Acts 20:35, Paul quotes the words of Jesus. He says, You know the grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, who though He was rich yet for our sakes, He became poor, and he says, He taught us that its more blessed to give than to receive. As you look at that Passage, Its more blessed to give than to receive, what do you notice? Whats the motivation for giving in that verse? Its more blessed. Any of you who have done things for other people, what happens in return when you give or are generous with other people? You feel good, right? In fact, were talking about sin and motivation. I think all the psychological studies about that are interesting. There is a pleasure that you get from sin. In fact, one article I read said that were simply telling you what preachers have said for a couple thousand years, which is even though its fun to sin, its even more enjoyable to do good things. When you do good for others, how do you feel? You feel better; you feel good. There is a blessing; there is a joy inherent in giving to others and reaching out to others; and, lets put it this way: if I were to talk about Martha Steward or Rachel Ray-see, ladies, this is not a Sports Illustration-or Paula Dean. I had to get the Dean part in there. These ladies are famous; theyre well-known. Do you think they profited from being able to cook and all those things? Sure. Theyre famous. They have a lot of money. Theyre very well-known, and theyve been very blessed. Theyve had incredible rewards for doing what they were doing. Now heres the interesting thing: what if you were to take away all those rewards? No TV programs, lose most of your wealth, all the fancy cars, mansions, and all those things, do you think theyd still keep on cooking? What do you think? I think so. Why? Because they like it. It gives them pleasure. It gives them joy, and that's the balance that were talking about. As children of God, we are to live for eternal rewards, eternal glory, and eternal pleasure, but there are blessings even in this life. Jesus said, No man who has left Father, Mother, Sister and Brother and houses the lands for My sake in the Gospel who wont receive in the life to come eternal life, but also in this life a hundredfold. Whats He talking about? That you and I know that even if there were no rewards, no blessings, no benefits, no crowns, no trophies, no mansions-as children of God, would you continue to do what you do, walk with God, bless others and please Him? Would you? Yes. Why? Because you enjoy it. Because when you trust in Christ, He puts His Spirit in you. He puts His very DNA in you, and it is your nature. Its your heart to bless others, to minister to others, to do good to others, to reach out to others. Thats who you are, and there is a joy that comes with that. There is a delight that comes with that. If you ask me why I get up in the morning and read my Bible or spend time with God in prayer or sing praises to Him, Id say, Well, do I hope to be rewarded for that some day? Well, the answer is yes, but what happens right here and now? As I open up the Word of God, seek Him, and spend time with Him in prayer and praise, what happens? My hearts warmed. My hearts filled. I feel His presence; I feel His pleasure; I feel His joy, and I crave that. It brings us back again and again and again and again as we feel the warmth of His presence. We feel His blessings, and we feel His closeness. We hear Him speak to us in interesting ways. He lets us know that He is ours and we are His. Justin and I were talking before the first service this morning about waking up sometimes in difficult times and a verse will be running through your head or a song is running through your head and how God gives you [that] almost specifically just to let you know that He cares. I said, Yeah, about a month ago, I woke up… Ive never even seen the musical, but I had the song from the movie Oliver running through my head. Im like, Whats that doing in there? It was the song, Consider Yourself One of the Family. [It goes something like this:] Consider yourself at home. Consider yourself part of the family, and consider yourself one of us. Im like, Why cant I get that out of my head, and why should I wake up and as soon as my feet hit the floor, thats what pops in my head? That makes no sense. Well, I got up, went into my office, opened up my Bible, sat down, and I was reading from Romans 9. The first words that popped into my vision were the place where it should be said that you are not My people, there you will be called My people, and the place where it says, Youre not my children, there that we will be called the children of the Living God. Its like the Lord whispered in my ear, Hey, Jerry, just wanted you to know-glad youre in My family. Glad youre one of us. Im like, Wow! I spent like two or three days walking around going, Consider yourself at home. Consider yourself part of the family. I was like, God, Youre cool! And Gods saying, Just letting you know I care. Its that joy that you get from being in His presence that brings you back time and time and time and time again-even if there were no rewards. Its why on this side of the coin, Jesus tells the story of the servant. He says he goes and works for his master all day long. Hes plowing fields, and he comes home after a 14, 15-hour work day.Does the master tell him thank you? He said I dont think so. [Rather, he says something like,]Fix me supper. He fixes his master supper, and after that does the master tell him thank you? No. Jesus said, In the same way, when youve done everything Ive asked you to do, say, Hey, were unprofitable servants. All weve done is our duty. Whats He talking about? Hes talking about this whole attitude that theres a joy of serving Him. Theres a joy of walking in His presence. Theres a joy of blessing others that would drive us to do it, would make us do it, would encourage us to do it, the Spirit of God was in us-even if there wasnt a reward given. Does that make sense? So theres this balance. I do it because its who I am. Yet on the other side, God is so incredibly gracious that He offers us rewards for doing the things that we ought to be doing anyway. Isnt that unbelievable? Im going to share one last thought with you and then wrap it up. In Isaiah, it says it a different way. Ill throw out one line quickly to think about, Isaiah 43:7 (page 718 of pew Bibles), God says, …everyone who is called by My name, whom I created for My glory, who I formed and I made. Heres a different way of saying it. Instead of saying, I created everything for my pleasure, God says, I created you for My glory. I could ask the same question: should we live for glory? Well, the answer to that is yes-if youre made in the image of God. An amazing thing happens. Again, theres the paradox of if you lose your life, you find it because when you decide to live for Gods glory, what happens? Like Jesus prays in John 17, Father, glorify them with the glory that I had with You before the world was. Its like the God who says I wont share my glory with anybody else, He says, If we live for His glory, hell share His glory with us. That's mind-boggling. Just like pleasure, to talk about glory and say it a different way, we see people live for glory, right? Whats the problem with the glory that the people of the world live for? It doesnt last, right? Paul talks about those people who really get it. Theyre willing to go through suffering. Theyre willing to go through heartache. Theyre willing to go through pain. Why? Because he says, I realize that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared the… glory which will be revealed in us. And our light affliction, he says, …which only lasts a minute produces a far more exceeding and eternal weight of…glory. Thats why you do what you do-for pleasure, for glory. Thats why you do what you do-for pleasure, for glory. And again, heres the thing: when I live for Gods pleasure and Gods glory, what happens? I find that God gives me pleasure, and God gives me glory in ways that I would never have known. In fact, I love the words in Romans 2:7 (page 1113 in pew Bibles) where God challenges us. Listen to what He says, To those who by persistence in doing good… If you get up every day and think about who can I do good to today? Who can I serve today? Who can I minister today? If you think that way, look what Paul says youre thinking about. If you wake up every day thinking about God, others, and doing good, what are you really looking for? Youre really looking for the immortal triad: glory, honor, and immortality. God stands back and applauds people that do that. He says, When you wake up and you wonder how you can please Me, and you serve others and bless others, youre living for real glory. Youre living for real honor, and youre living for real immortality. Isnt that amazing? Thats what God offers to us. Ill wrap this up by looking at Matthew 5. Friends, the byproduct of that, of reaching out and blessing other peoples lives, is joy. Matthew 5 (page 958), he says, Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God. He says, Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. Whats the motivation in all of those things? He says, Do these things. Mourn over sin. Be a peacemaker. Show mercy, why? So that you will be blessed, or truly genuinely happy. Thats what the word blessed means. Its the Greek word makarios. It just means happy. Jesus assumes that youre motivated by happiness, but again, that paradox, you dont get happiness by pursuing it. Its a byproduct of other things. When you seek to be a peacemaker, what do you find? Happiness. And the greatest of all-the pinnacle of Christianity-when you return good for evil, what are you doing? Youre being most like your Father in Heaven. Youre laying up rewards in Heaven. Youre investing in Heaven because on this earth, it doesnt make a whole lot of sense to return good for evil, does it? But God notices, and He sees-and notice the end of that verse-and He says this: Blessed are you when people persecute you, hate you, revile you and say all kinds of evil against you falsely. Whats the motivation? He says, For great is your reward in Heaven. Yet, even on this earth when you do those things, what happens? In your heart of hearts, when you return good for evil, how do you feel? There is a joy; there is a knowledge; Gods Spirit answers with your spirit because you know that you did the right thing. You know you did the honorable thing. You know that youre investing in eternity, and theres a joy that comes from choosing to follow God. I challenge you this morning in an age of hedonism, in a culture that worships pleasure to live for pleasure yourself, to live for Gods pleasure and the pleasures of others because thats when you will find true pleasure, true joy, true reward, and true glory. Amen? Father, I thank You for Your Word. I pray that You would challenge us this morning to live for the things that really last and the things that really matter. Help us to be people who seek to glorify and please You and put others ahead of ourselves, knowing thats the path to true happiness, true joy and real rewards. Thank You that we can pray. In Jesus name, Amen.

ISRAEL: GOLDSTONE, GIDEON, AND GOD MUSIC / INTRO Israel, I have NOT prophesied to you for two months. You were NOT listening to me … at least you were NOT obeying the Word of the LORD to you. However, I have to give you a message today. The Goldstone Report is a psychological warfare tactic against Israel to keep you from attacking Iran. It is literally spawned from the pit of Hell. Israel, what do you care about what your enemies think about you? Why are you afraid of the opinions of other people when God is for you? Israel does NOT need legitimacy for attacking Iran. Israel does NOT need legitimacy for defending itself: in 1967, in 1973, in 2009. Stop global whimping, Israel. Yes, you are not the largest military on earth. However, the LORD commanded Gideon to reduce his forces by 99% (from 32,000 to 300). You don't need the US, the EU, or the UN. Why lean on something that will break, anyway. They are NOT going to help you. How many times do I have to tell you that. It is time for YOU to trust God, Israel. Look at these RECENT headlines, Israel: “Israel planned to attack Iran after December, when it became clear that the talks between the six powers and Tehran had failed to produce any benefit.” I told you it would NOT be wise to attack AFTER (the latest) November, 2009. “Six nations - the US, Holland, Italy, Ukraine, Hungary and Slovakia voted against, 11 abstained and 5 members, including France and Britain [Gordon Brown and French president Nicolas Sarkozy], did not take part in the vote.” I have warned you many times NOT to trust or lean upon the EU. MUSIC “Hillary Clinton's bid for Russia to back sanctions is snubbed.” I told you Russia would NOT go against Iran. Why do you think they have been supplying training and supply nuclear material and know-how to Iran? (NOTE: Russia may choose not to sell the S-300 missile system to Iran because it may make more money from selling the S-400 (more advanced system) to Saudi Arabia.) “Israel Enraged by UN Human Rights Council Endorsement of Controversial Goldstone Report.” I warned you many times not to depend on the UN, the EU, or the US. “Turkey's [Erdogan's] violent anti-Israel and borderline anti-Semitic attitude is no passing phase ... Israel must reconcile itself to the loss of this valuable ally.” I warned you several times that Turkey would be the epicenter on the New Muslim Alliance … and the center of New World Governance. “Russia is assuming a major role in the region with the full support of the Obama administration, part of its plan for a new diplomatic-military front against Iran composed of the US, Russia and Middle East nations.” I told you several times that President Obama would turn his back on Israel. One of Barack Obama's first acts as US president, was to reach out to the Muslim world. Iranian news agency was informed by an aide of supreme leader Ali Khamenei that "the new plant would become operational soon." Previously Achmadinejad said, "the new plant will not be for 18 months." “Detonators for nuclear bombs are in production at two secret sites.” “Tehran opens Qom enrichment plant to inspection Oct 25 - but hides other facilities.” I told you Islamic leaders and diplomats will lie to you. According to the Islamic precepts of Kitman and Taqiya, Muslims are allowed to deliberately conceal … practice deception in the name of – and for – allah. In the Qur'an, the false non-entity god, “allah” calls himself Khayrul-Makireen, which means (literally): “The greatest of all deceivers.” (Qur'an 3:54) MUSIC I told you several times, Israel, that Iran is buying – and will buy – time to gain the greatest advantage for its nuclear ambitions, even if it agrees and then disagrees to negotiations: whatever it takes until it has the goods to destroy you. Israel, I have told you for three (3) years to attack Iran now … before it's too late. I have prophesied to you about seven (7) directives in the last year that have come to pass already: Iran, Turkey, Obama, EU, US, Russia, and UN. (2 Chronicles 20:3) “For the battle is not yours, but G-d's.” (2 Chronicles 20:15) “Believe in the LORD your G-d, so shall you be established; believe his prophets, so shall you prosper.” (2 Chronicles 20:20) “For the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies.“ (2 Chronicles 20:27) “And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel.” (2 Chronicles 20:29) Baruch haba b'Shem Adonai. PROMISES FOR BATTLE “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you will revive me: you will stretch forth your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand shall save me.” (Psalm 138:7) “Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saves them out of their distresses.” (Psalm 107:19) “The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knows them that trust in him.” (Nahum 1:7) “A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.” (Psalm 91:7) “And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah." (2 Chronicles 20:3) “For the battle is not yours, but G-d's.” (2 Chronicles 20:15) “Believe in the LORD your G-d, so shall you be established; believe his prophets, so shall you prosper.” (2 Chronicles 20:20) “For the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies.“ (2 Chronicles 20:27) “And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel.” (2 Chronicles 20:29) Baruch haba b'Shem Adonai. A comparison of the USA with Israel after King Solomon died. Advice regarding: 1. Israel; and, 2. the present and future economy. KAHANE, KING SOLOMON, KAHUNAS, KOVENANT & E-KONOMY MUSIC / INTRO RABBI MEIR KAHANE In 1975 I talked to Rabbi Meir Kahane's wife, Libby, on the phone in Jerusalem. She told me he was in New York. I changed my flight via Jerusalem to London to Chicago, and instead flew later to Frankfurt and then New York City. I wanted to help Kahane, who was the founder of the JDL (Jewish Defense League). Miraculously, when I was seated at the airport in New York, the man seated right next to me on the left was reading (I think) the New York Times. When I glanced at it, on the front page was an article about the arrest of Meir Kahane for carrying a firearm. I asked the man if I could borrow his newspaper briefly and found the name of Rabbi Kahane's attorney: Barry Slosberg? … or, Barry Slotsky? (I forget.) I called the attorney's office and spoke to the secretary. I told her I would be willing to speak in Meir Kahane's defense and give him a place to live with me and my family while awaiting trial. I wanted to help Kahane see a BETTER way to help Israel and the Jewish People. A way that would be pleasing to the LORD, and not one of bloodshed (except, of course, in the case of war, self defense, or helping defend the innocent). After Kahane had met with … and came to know … my friend, John (Jan) Willem van der Hoeven, he told him: “I now know who the real Christians are.” Rabbi Kahane said, “The real Christians (not those by just name or denomination or religious affiliation) are those who have experienced Messiah and who love Israel and the Jewish People.” I was not able to provide the assistance, and have often wondered what the change in course of Rabbi Meir Kahane's life … and his family … would have been had I been successful. KING SOLOMON King Solomon ruled in equity and mercy. He loved and honored the LORD. However, after the death of King Solomon in 931 BCE, their was civil war and the Kingdom was divided. They were prosperous and had a strong military. However, the Northern kingdom fell into gross idolatry and over a period of 200 years there were nine (9) different dynasties. (Compare this to the Southern Kingdom of Judah where there was only one dynasty: of the family of David.) None of the kings in the Northern Kingdom (Israel / Ephraim) were good. This 200 year period may be compared to the present day USA: prosperous (until recently); a strong military; and, a beacon of hope for the world. However, like the Northern Kingdom of Israel, the USA has turned its back on the LORD. For 200 years, the USA honored G-d publicly: in schools, in courts, in government. But … like the Northern Kingdom, the USA now finds NO favor with the LORD. Why? 1. Abortion clinics and government funding of the same (4,000 babies were murdered yesterday); 2. Prayer and Bible reading taken out of schools; 3. Wickedness in the media. 4. Government corruption; and 5. Deception on the part of leaders. MUSIC KAHUNAS Israel is getting stronger … but the USA is getting weaker. So WHY is Israel letting the US tell it what to do?! Read the Show Notes of (or listen to) my podcast of August 4, 2009: “Israel and Bibi: Beware the Five Blind Mice.” You will find my admonition to the leadership of Israel. Surprisingly, ex-Presidential candidate, Mike Huckabee, two weeks later (August 17) said in relation to the settlement issue basically the same thing I did: “My question is how would the government of the United States feel if Prime Minister Netanyahu began to dictate which people could live in the Bronx, which ones could live in Manhattan, and which could live in Queens?” “I’m not sure where we would get the authority to demand of the Israelis what they should do in their own country.” Asked if he would support an Israeli military strike against Iran, Huckabee said he “would support Israel doing whatever Israel needs to protect [itself].” He added that the United States would never want anybody to tell it the boundaries of how it can protect itself. “I think we can certainly advise as a friend to Israel,” he explained, “but we have no right to dictate and outright tell another country what it should or shouldn’t do. Heck, we don’t do that with North Korea!” Notice, this is basically the same comment I made two weeks earlier (August 4: “Never let your wife's lover tell you how to treat your wife! Bibi and Israel, stop letting people – the US, the EU, and the UN – tell you how to run your government. The US will NOT even tell North Korea, Iran, and Venezuela how to run their governments.” Israel, use the “kahunas” G-d has given you. Do what you have to and STOP letting the UN, the US, and the EU tell you what to do. MUSIC KOVENANT Bibi and Israel, stop leaning on foreign alliances. President Obama will NOT support you in the final outcome. He will turn his back on you. Again, do NOT let Iran gain time via negotiations or any other means. You can NOT trust them. They want to annihilate you. Just today, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, several hours before his scheduled meeting  with U.S. President Barack Obama, said that the Arab world will not make any gestures towards Israel until a regional treaty is signed. A Middle East peace pact must include Israeli agreement on the Arab demand for the right of millions of foreign Arabs to immigrate to Israel and the demand that the Palestinian Authority have control over all of eastern Jerusalem, Egyptian officials said. Remember what the LORD G-d has instructed you, Israel. “Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you go, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee.” (Torah: Exodus 34:12) E-KONOMY USA will foreclose on ONE MILLION homes in three (3) months. Next month 360,000 will be foreclosed. The US Government … and the US President … lie to the American people concerning the economy. Obama promised (among other things) during his campaign to always give the American public five (5) days to review any new legislation; however, he slipped through a trillion dollar bill during a holiday. This is what America deserves for electing a socialist-Marxist community organizer with NO experience in business, economics, military, or finance. Remember what I have warned you: This year, 2009, will appear that things are settling out on the economic scene. Hold on! In 2010 things will start to fall apart again. The Obama stimulus package will NOT be effective past 2009. The market will take a precipice dive. For the next five (5) to seven (7) years after 2009 you are in for HARD TIMES. The housing market will bottom out late 2012 to early 2013. It is inevitable that the US Dollar will die – so will the EURO. A NEW currency will evolve – a GLOBAL CURRENCY – with basis on precious metals, commodities, or real estate. For details on the economy and HOW to survive until 2015, listen to (or read the Show Notes of) my podcast January 27, 2009, titled: “Israel: Investments and Economy – Surviving the Next 7 years.” MUSIC KONCLUSION In the late 60's the slogan was: “Turn on – Tune in – Drop out!” Young people from all over the world came to Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco and Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Catholic young people were fed up with Catholicism … Protestant young people were fed up with Protestantism … Jewish young people were fed up with Judaism. The LORD raised me up at that time to reach out to thousands of these young people. When all seemed like loss … in the darkest hour … the Ruach Elohim (the Holy Spirit) descended … and multiplied thousands of teen age and university age young people had a definitive experience with the greatest revolutionary who ever lived: the Messiah of Israel, Yeshua ha Meshiach. Many went back to their families and homes and countries … to their synagogues and cathedrals and churches … and were an instrument of positive, spiritual change in society. Adam and Eve started the first religion in their attempt to be right with G-d. After man sinned in the Garden by disobeying G-d, Adam and Eve used leaves to cover their nakedness: to hide their consciousness of sin. However, the Creator G-d shed the BLOOD of innocent animals to cover them with the skins of animals. This was a picture – a type – of the Atonement: “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that makes an atonement for the soul.” (Torah: Leviticus 17:11) G-d has ordained that the BLOOD be the covering for sin. By the mercy of G-d, and through His love for us, the one time FINAL supreme sacrifice for sin has been made. When the spotless Lamb of G-d, Yeshua the Messiah, died on the cross stake in our place … for our sins … God's judgment was satisfied. “By his stripes we have been healed.” (Tanakh: Isaiah Chapter 53) It was the Gentiles who judged him and the Gentiles who killed him. But all – both Jew and Gentile – can now come to God by faith in His Atonement for us. Baruch haba b'Shem Adonai.
