Joining us today is Cory Kampfer, President of Small Business Lending at Enova, which operates the leading small business lending brands OnDeck and Headway Capital. Cory has been immersed in the small business lending space since 2011 when he joined OnDeck. Over his tenure, he's witnessed the evolution of fintech lending and how it has transformed access to capital for Main Street businesses like retailers, contractors, accountants and more. In this episode, Cory provides his unique perspective on the key financial needs and challenges facing small businesses today based on data insights from Enova's $18 billion in originated loans. He discusses how fintech lenders like OnDeck are able to better service this market compared to traditional banks and other financing sources. Cory also shares how the borrower experience and application process has progressed over the years to become quicker and more digital-friendly. We'll learn what metrics and approaches Enova uses to continually improve that journey. Whether you're a small business owner, entrepreneur, or just interested in the lending landscape, this is an insightful discussion you won't want to miss. Let's dive in! The big ideas SMBs struggle to access financing from traditional banks: "There still is a real gap in terms of traditional banks and financing sources lending to small businesses, not because I don't think they may want to, but they're just not calibrated to do it very well." Online lending has become more accepted and appealing to SMBs: "What we see more that's very different from what we started with is, people, in many cases, go first to an online lender, because the application process is just so quick and easy. And they can get the answer that they need." Using technology and data analytics is key to efficiently underwriting SMB loans: "We need to leverage technology. We have lending algorithms that help us through machine learning to give offers in a much more automated way...you need to leverage the data and the analytics, which our teams ingest, and then can give you a loan offer in the matter of minutes or hours." A smooth application experience is crucial for attracting and retaining SMB borrowers: "In the application process, we want it to be a quick and easy process for them to be able to get through it...it's great to see that kind of repeat traffic because obviously what we did is working to help them grow their business." SMBs are optimistic about growth despite challenges: "The survey we just did, what it screams is that small businesses are very optimistic. They're hiring – you can see that in the data in terms of their investing more in employees. That's kind of putting their money, where their mouth is."

The hope was the 34-year-old wouldn’t miss much time because of the unlucky mishap, but now it appears he’ll be out until April. If that’s the case, the Suns will have just five more games until the playoffs start. Durant has played in just three games — all on the road — since the blockbuster deal in February that sent Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four first-round picks and other draft compensation to the Brooklyn Nets. And it got a most unpredictable leaderboard after one round of The Players Championship. The leader is Chad Ramey, who had never see the Stadium Course until this week. He shot a bogey-free 64 and leads by one over Collin Morikawa. Hayden Buckley delivered the first ace of the tournament on the island-green 17th. Aaron Wise made a 10 on the closing hole with three straight tee shots into the water. Rory McIlroy had a 76. That’s his worst score in more than a year. Soccer – Split verdict for ex-Fox execs in soccer rights bribe case A former Fox executive has been convicted of paying tens of millions of dollars in bribes to nab broadcasting rights to the World Cup and other top soccer matches. A second ex-executive was acquitted. A Brooklyn federal jury delivered its verdict Thursday. Hernan Lopez was convicted. Carlos Martinez was acquitted. Prosecutors have said the case bared the corruption of international soccer. Defense lawyers say the former Fox execs were framed by an admitted criminal who was trying to minimize his own punishment. New York-based Fox Corp. wasn’t charged in the case and has denied any involvement in the bribery scandal. Tennis – Andy Murray pulls out another 3-set victory at Indian Wells Andy Murray grabbed the last three games to come back and beat Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-4 across more than three hours in the first round of the BNP Paribas Open. Saturday Indiana at Detroit, 7:00 p.m. Chicago at Houston, 8:00 p.m. NBA – Suns’ Durant out with ankle injury, re-evaluated in 3 weeks The Phoenix Suns say Kevin Durant has a left ankle sprain after slipping on the floor during pregame warmups on Wednesday and will be re-evaluated in three weeks. The 34-year-old Kampfer will report to Tucson of the American Hockey League after the trade announced on Thursday. Kampfer has not played in the NHL since appearing in 20 games for the Boston Bruins in 2020-21. He played 44 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL, scoring four goals with 18 assists. A Hizack for a new generation, a Zaku with Federation design elements! I mean, not really. It's a Sazabi with some Geara Doga, a surprising but small dash of Sinanju, maybe some Powered GM in there, a lil Kampfer. But still! Like a lot of Titans suits, it's Zeon Minus Zeon. And that is a triumph. Not because I dislike Zeon, just, I like some Federation design elements being added, i like what it does to the design, hey dont bully me If you want to find us on Twitter, Dylan is @lowpolyrobot and Six is @sixdettmar. July 16. GR Kampfer. Kampfer was a man of mission. Like God sent Paul to the Macedonians, God sent Kampfer to Northern India to people who were “spirit worshippers sunk in the depravity of ignorance” and “driven back into the swamps and jungles.” When he arrived—though the journey had been long and exhausting and his destination was shot through with evil—he said, “How glorious these trips […] The post GR Kampfer, US, Missionary first appeared on 365 Christian Men.

Bookkeeping woes? Keep it simple. Candus Kampfer wanted to make a difference. When her hair stylist cried with relief after Candus showed her how to pull her accounting reports, Candus knew she wanted to help others. She began making short, focused video tutorials about Quickbooks in 2014, and her following grew. Candus big message: keep it simple. It doesn't need to be overcomplicated. But remember that bookkeeping is a vital part of your business. It's not just for doing taxes! Track the numbers throughout the year. Numbers are a black and white way to view your business. How to get started? Start by opening a business bank account; don't co-mingle your personal and business expenses! Keep records on paper: Use columns to designate expense categories, e.g fuel, office supplies, meals and entertainment [Hint: keep the categories fairly broad]. Or use an Excel spreadsheet to track your numbers There are three types of reports you should be pulling: 1) Profit and Loss the top--your income, what you're being paid from your clients, based on categories of products or services below--all of your business expenses bottom line: did you make a profit or take a loss for the time frame chosen Questions to consider when looking at the P&L report: Have you been making an income in the areas you expected to? Are you making more income in one area over another (e.g. producing books vs. producing audios)? Keep track of your expenses; where is your money going, and how does the outgo compare to the income? Compare a date range to a previous date range, e.g. this month vs last month. 2) The balance sheet All assets, all liabilities, all equity, and your net worth (Hint: The net should match the number on your P&L if you chose the same end date). The balance sheet is a snapshot of your business at a particular moment. 3) Sales by Item Summary (this report is specific to Quickbooks) For creating invoices within Quickbooks, use "items"; items are more detailed than the categories on your P&L. These items give details on the services and products you provide. It will show you the income you're generating on this specific services and products, and their percentage of the overall income. Knowing this allows you to proactively guide the business in the direction you want it to go. For example, you may see you need to do some marketing to grow a particular area. How to determine profitability in a service-based business Add a value to your time tracking Set up a non0payroll item with your service item and cost I use Toggl for time tracking. For most of us, the free version is fine—it's what I used for years. I only upgraded to the paid version when I wanted to start drilling down into the statistics of how I was spending my time. To get your effective hourly rate, you have to track all business-related hours worked, not just billable time. Quickbooks: for each customer, you can enter billable AND non-billable time. When you go into Profit & Loss by job and by customer, it tracks the costs for you without counting it as income. The entrepreneur's struggle: understanding the value of your work What would I like to earn? How much time do I have to work per month? Being confident with your billing comes over time. Kind, loving praise from clients helps! Discomfort with invoicing (whether it's on your end or your client's) can be alleviated by stating things clearly in writing. Trust your gut feeling on whether it's a good match between you and a potential client. Routine bookkeeping tasks Download or manually enter your bank transactions Enter expenses Track your income Reconcile bank and credit card accounts If using desktop version, back up your Quickbooks to an external drive (or any accounting software) [Hint: Do not use Dropbox to back up Quickbooks] Pulling reports P&L, pull it every month and compare YTD or month-to-month; are you where you want to be? Balance sheet, pull every quarter or so to make sure everytyhing looks Sales by item summary, pull every month. This gives a breakdown of your income and where it's coming from Links Candus has a free minicourse on how to get started with Quickbooks in under an hour (canduskampfer.com/minicourse). Confidence with Quickbooks Course Quickbooks Simplified Community What I use to back up my data: Crashplan for Small Business Toshiba external hard drives for Mac (with Time Machine) (here's a model that works with PCs) Whenever you're learning something new, be patient and kind with yourself. It can be overwhelming! If you're interested in helping your clients learn about their genetic genealogy, keep an eye open for a special sale on the 23andme kits. They may be offered at a reduced price during Amazon's Prime Day. It starts at midnight on July 16, 2018 and runs for just 36 hours. Please consider leaving a review (or just a rating) on iTunes. Thanks for helping to spread the word! Now go out and save someone's story.

“I read Bill’s words as he confessed that he had lied to his family and had stolen, and spent, $1,000,000 from his aunt’s trust fund. It was obvious he confessed at trial to get a reduced sentence. I was numb and in shock…I had asked God for the total truth but had never dreamed that the truth would be so painful. How could my husband and best friend, who I had known since I was five, be a liar, a thief How could my husband and best friend, who I had known since I was five, be a liar, a thief and a convicted felon? It was excruciating.” -from Lynn's Story: A Journey of searing, Inspiring Growth and Ultimate Healing For over 30 years, former corporate trainer Lynn Kampfer lived what most people would consider the American Dream. Married to her childhood sweetheart and raising two kids, Lynn and her family enjoyed the best that life had to offer. Yet, as Lynn began to search for God the outer edges of her lovely life began to crack and crumble. In this episode of the Better Together podcast, Lynn shares not only her dramatic story but more importantly, incredible lessons learned about God’s faithfulness, provision, forgiveness and hope. Lynn will definitely inspire you as she shares about surviving breath-taking heartache and how to thrive even as life takes an unwelcome left turn. As you listen to today’s podcast, I want you to draw hope and encouragement from Lynn’s story – especially if you feel like your life is falling apart. What you’ll hear from today’s podcast: How God plants seeds in our lives, even when we’re unaware; Even after rock bottom, things can always get worse; When you don’t forgive, you’re in a prison doing hard time with the person who hurt you; Two important things to know and do when beginning the journey toward forgiveness; How God never abandons us when the unthinkable in life actually happens. Forgiveness is a difficult and often misunderstood concept. There's not enough space in this post to properly cover the topic, but I hope that you listen to Lynn's podcast because you can learn a lot from her journey to forgiveness. It wasn't easy, but she is so wise in how she journeyed through it. POST A COMMENT ON THE BLOG: Can you tell us about your forgiveness journey? What was hard? How did God help you? If you're still struggling, how can we pray for you? I'd love to hear your questions and comments about today's show!
