The “Bite Sized Education” Series In this week's part 1 episode of “Does My Child Have an Eating Disorder?,” we discuss the nature vs nurture of the development of eating disorders or a disorder relationship with food and bodies. We explore how food can be a coping skill that is learned and genetic, the pressures that we receive from the world that can impact our relationship with food, and we discuss why eating disorders have increased during the pandemic. We offer tangible ways of breaking the diet legacy in the home and how parents can provide a safe home that is preventative to the nurturance of an eating disorder. We give parents tools on how to connect with their child by understanding their underlying emotional needs through reflective questioning and listening.   Our amazing listeners also wrote in and in this episode we will answer the following question: Dear Mom Genes, My daughter is not even a teenager yet but is already starting to ask questions about why her body is shaped the way it is compared to her friends bodies. She is worried about how her body looks in her bathing suit, will suddenly stop eating certain foods if she hears a commercial or message that those foods are unhealthy, and asked me if she can start weighing herself. I try so hard to be positive even though I don't love my body either….should I be concerned she has developed an ED? Hey guys! Chris and Melissa here, if you listened to our last episode you heard us touch on the importance of leadership and the opportunity we have to teach our kids what good leadership looks like. But what does that actually mean? What does leadership mean to your family? Today we break down what it means to be a leader and how we approached our kids about the impact good leadership can have in this world. We discuss some of the main leadership principles that we want to instill in our children, and why teaching this is important not just for the world but within our own community. Even if our children are never on a world stage, there is a need for people who know how to lead. Whether that's in homes, in schools, in communities, or in the workforce -leadership is important.  Listen in as we talk about defining the principles of a leader with our family and how we as parents can set a good example for our kids. We talk about why it's important to distinguish a good leader from a bad one and how doing this can allow our kids to make the best choice when it comes to choosing who to follow. Every future leader starts as a child somewhere. The power that we have to teach and raise up these future leaders is immense.  So let's raise powerful leaders and help create a world that is changed because of it. “Let food be your medicine,” says Cathy Moore, PA-C, a Physician's Assistant at One Agora Integrative Health. Cathy explains that many of us have started treating food as a passing need rather than a vital fuel. We often eat on the go and may not even remember what we ate for lunch by the time we're eating dinner! This approach critically disrupts our gut health, since we aren't taking the time to rest and digest before, during and after each meal.   Rather than rushing through meals, Cathy suggests that we instead be intentional about what we eat and how we eat it. By taking deep breaths before starting a meal, for example, we activate our parasympathetic nervous system, prepping our bodies to better digest our food. An increase in mindfulness around food also allows us to establish a better relationship with what we're eating, promoting an attitude of gratefulness rather than the fear that so often surrounds restrictive diets.   Tune into this week's episode of Beyond the Basics Health Academy for a conversation with Cathy Moore about digestive health. Learn about the differences between healthy and harmful bacteria, the strategies you can use to retrain your taste buds, and how best to balance between your emotional and nutritional worlds. Improving your gut health is not an impossible feat! Join Cathy and host Meaghan Kirschling for some simple steps you can take to kickstart the journey towards a balanced microbiome.   Quotes  • “If you're going to sit down for a meal, it's important to take some time and look at your plate, just connect and be intentional with what you're eating instead of eating emotionally. Because most of us are eating out of emotional needs that haven't been met. So, when you're intentional with what you're eating, you're looking at your plate, you're sending gratitude and thankfulness into those foods, which really actually brings good frequencies into that food and helps with the structure of the food.” (4:25-4:52) • “I think every meal is a chance to heal the body. It's either that food is going to bring life-giving frequencies and health and life into our body or it's going to bring cellular death.” (5:39-5:47) • “We have the good, healthy bacteria that's really necessary to be able to regulate and govern over our immune system function. And you want to have plenty of what's called acromancia. I call them the ABCs: acromancia, bifidobacterium, and clostridia. Those are our main healthy, good bacteria that we really need in balance, and when those have too much, then that causes problems, but when there's not enough, the immune system is really suppressed and low.” (18:48-19:17) • “Oftentimes, patients will feel like, ‘Gosh, I'm just anxious all the time. I'm so nervous.' And you think about...what's going on in their brain, when actually we should be thinking, ‘What's going on in their gut?'” (22:33-22:45) • “Let food be your medicine.” (26:46-26:48)   Links Book a session with Cathy: https://www.oneagorahealth.com/    BE KIND TO OTHERS, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, AND MAKE GOOD CHOICES.   Stay connected to Dr. Meaghan and her work: • Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBvlMzs8K94 • Instagram: @oneagorahealth // @drmeaghankirschling • Facebook: One Agora Integrative Health Clinic • Twitter: @btbhacademy • LinkedIn: Meaghan Kirschling • Clinic Website: https://www.oneagorahealth.com/   Podcast production and show notes provided by FIRESIDE Marketing

When the time came, Chris decided to share the four things that we wish we knew before we got married. Of course, we had to share it on the podcast! The four topics are:  Never Stop Building And Strengthening Your Marriage Much like a muscle, the strength of your marriage is dependent on how much focus, time, and energy you put into it. If you commit to feeding and taking care of it, it will thrive.  Never Say Rude, Hateful, or Mean Things To Each Other Sometimes the closest people to us get the worst of our words. Whether it's an argument or things aren't going our way, it's important to keep hateful words out of it.  Never Keep Score A 50/50 win is actually a loss; we talk about giving 100% to your spouse no matter what. When both of you are fully invested in each other's success, you win every time.  Never Forget Your Kids Are Watching Whether you're divorced, a single parent, or married, how you live your life and how you interact with a spouse, ex, or other loved ones is how kids learn. Their view of marriage comes from the demonstration you give them.  Hit play to dive deeper into these topics with us and learn more! We encourage you to pick one thing that will strengthen your marriage, commit to it until the next episode, and see how your life changes! If you're wanting to take it to the next level check out episode 31 where we talk about how to take the perfect couple's trip! How you choose love over fear instead How leaning into trust is the best anecdote to perfectionism How your crazy high expectations of yourself perhaps need some addressing How to avoid the ‘never-ending battle' of perfectionism and start living a life of love, trust and gratitude.   Don't forget! I am answering this highly requested question in today’s episode! How to manage other people’s expectations of you. Truth bomb – in short, you can’t. But actually what this really means is that you’re a people pleaser and deeply care about what other people think of you. You’d love to learn to somehow manage other people’s expectations of you so that you know that you’ll be loved + fit in. Am I right? Today I talk about… How we can’t manage other people’s expectations of us How we can clearly communicate expectations in a work environment How your desire to manage other people’s expectations of you is actually more a form of people-pleasing and wanting to accepted and loved. And I get it! What to do if you’re so focused on other people’s expectations of you. When you should consider your OWN expectations of yourself and how to tweak them so they’re supportive. I also share some powerful journal prompts I highly recommend using to support yourself with this Don’t forget! If you’re interested in working with me in 1:1 coaching, then now is your chance!! Welcome back to the podcast! It’s so good to be back with you today with a new episode! This is by far the most vulnerable episode I have ever shared on the podcast or anywhere online before! Truly. Today I am talking about my experience with grief. I recently lost someone really close to me and I have known for a while that I wanted to create a podcast on this topic but didn’t know how. What would I share? How do you find the right words? And in all honesty, I am not sure I have the words, but for now, this is my showing up fully, sharing openly, and sharing my truth. I would love for us all to be brave and talk about the hard topics in life more, including grief, because I believe we don’t talk about it enough. So, this is me, being the change I want to see in the world. Sharing my heart with you. Talking about the hard stuff. Disclaimer: I am not a counselor, psychotherapist, or psychologist. I am purely sharing my own personal experience and thoughts on the topic and hope that it inspires someone else and opens up the conversation more. So, what is feng shui? The old visdom from east about The art of placement. It’s very interesting to know that people in China, Hong kong and so on are using feng shui when they build their houses. They place them in the right direction and also to protect themselfs from danger. We use the element from the nature, the compass, yin & yang and some more great tools. I can for example tell you your best direction when you’re sitting at your work desk, so that the energy works for you and not against you. Sometimes it could help to just move the table a little bit and you will feel a difference and also could get more success in your work.   It’s also works very well together with the law of attraction. Your thoughts are very important. If you want something and you always think about what you don´t have you’re working against the law of attraction. It’s always better to think positive and remove the negative words as I don’t or I can’t and instead think about how you say things positively. That has helped me a lot in my life. Always when I smile and feel happy people smiles back at me. Also your posture is very important. If you think about your posture and straighten up your back I know many things will change. You can’t be happy if you sink with your back and head. “Nothing in the world could make human life happier than to greatly increase the number of strong families.” - David R. Mace Hey guys! Chris and Melissa here, we've known that it's time to refresh some of our courses and with that of course means a lot of research but it got us thinking. What needs refreshing in our family's life?  Today we have an open discussion on the impact that families have on society, and on the world as a whole and how we can make an impact by growing and raising truly strong individuals within a family. An exhaustive study done by the University of Nebraska was watched over 35 years, 24,000 family members, from all 50 states as well as 34 different countries noted 6 “strengths” that all strong families tended to follow. As huge as this study is, we knew this is something that we couldn't ignore within our own family and we believe that it could help yours as well.  We talk about the 6 strengths of the study and how each plays a pivotal role in strengthening not just your whole family but each individual member within it. Listen in as we cover these topics and others like the importance of everyone making a commitment to the family, having open and real communication, how kids view love and time, and even making decisions for the family together. We can't wait to start using this within our family and even plan an area that we are going to work on this week!  Join us as we talk about the challenges and commitments we plan on making for our family and how you can as well. We know this can be overwhelming so we invite you to choose just one area that your family might need right now and to go after it, and know that anything you do to create a space for you and your kids to thrive is truly amazing! How do you improve your relationship with autism? What does self acceptance feel like? What is autism acceptance like across cultures? In this episode of the Thoughty Auti Podcast, Thomas Henley talks to Dr. Mordehai Benhamou - a researcher and lecturer at the Israeli Autism Research Center. The Jerusalem based pioneer in autism advocacy, Mordi is somewhat of a celebrity in his country for his appearances on Israeli TV. With his #1 bestselling book ‘Autism, Falafel And Rock & Roll’ topping the charts in Israeli, he continues to have an impact the lives of neurotypicals and autistic people alike. Mordi shares his experiences in France, Israel and Algeria, noting that autistic people in Israel are perceived as the “closest human beings to God”. The Israeli army have also been recruiting autistic people in the Intelligence Services due to their special skills. In France, Neurodiverse individuals are held as disabled or more ironically... a Charlatan. Being a man of science, Dr. Benhamou explains the positive and negative consequences of integrating science into every area of his life; Sociology and Psychology being areas that both improved his understanding of the world, but also contributed to masking. He didn’t give himself space to explore his autistic self. Mordi’s journey of self-acceptance started at a cross road. On one hand he could keep blaming others for his unhappiness, and on the other he could take responsibility for his own development. Through his Psychologist Efrat, his eyes were opened by her willingness to accept her flaws. She taught him how to do the same. Perhaps the hardest challenge to overcome is yourself. Building that sense of confidence from the inside-out is a difficult feat, but especially when you mask and hide your true nature from the world. To be someone else is to become a pale copy of them. “You can learn and imitate, but one day like Oedipus you must kill your father” Mordi recognises that personal development is often based on the examples of others, but you may only be free when you develop your own brand. Honesty with the world and yourself is the core message behind this episode, so sit back and enjoy a conversation between these two inspirational men! And while you’re here, please share this episode with other people in your world that you know could really benefit from this episode, it’d mean so much to me! Today I’m talking about… Comparisonitis is just ‘mind games’ that your inner critic is creating in your mind I challenge the idea of if we can actually compare ourselves to others because we actually don’t know any of the ‘behind the scenes’ into their lives. How social media and I highlight reel and we rarely see the shadows + darkness Your thoughts and belief system influence what you ‘see’. Start looking for evidence of what you choose to believe in, instead Your conditioning and societal conditioning influence the ‘standards’ or the things we’re comparing ourselves to, so I challenge you to consider what do YOU believe?

She achieved this goal by May 2020. (Despite a pandemic, being stuck in Europe longer than she expected, and with a toddler + no childcare ) In July 2020, her and her husband were able to buy a new house and truck the moment they became stateside, in many ways due to this new influx of consistent income. How To Get Motivated Again

If you’re feeling a lack of motivation to get anything done right now, you’re not alone. I am definitely feeling that lack of motivation to stay focused on work, too. Some tasks need to get done, though, so I’ve put together a list of 5 steps to take to get motivated when you’re just not feeling it. How to get motivated when you have a lack of motivation Motivation is a myth. Most people don’t get up every morning ready to get to tackle their to-do list. Yes, spurs of motivation are possible and do happen, but for the most part, people train themselves to get stuff done. That’s why you can’t rely on motivation to be the force behind what you actually want to accomplish. The first thing you can do to get motivated is to figure out why you need to do something. By recognizing the reason behind the task, for example, you’ll feel good after exercising or a product launch will bring you more money, you’re more likely to do it. Next, focus on simply getting started. You don’t need to create a masterpiece when you’re feeling unmotivated. Sometimes even the act of doing the task will be enough to jolt you into action. As one of the most easily distracted people out there, I know what it’s like to lose your concentration when working on something you don’t love. That’s why it’s so important to create a distraction-free zone to work in. Plus, you can use aids like the Freedom App to even keep digital distractions at bay. If it’s at all possible, try to make the task fun. Play your favorite music, take dance breaks, or even make it a game. Not possible? Give yourself something to look forward to after completing what you’re struggling with. Finally, if you can’t get yourself motivated at all, you need to examine and explore why that is. Is there a mental block preventing you from carrying out the work? Why does it cause you discomfort and create a lack of self-confidence? When you explore the reasoning behind why you’re struggling, you’ll hopefully be able to move forward in motivation. Are you struggling with a lack of motivation? What would make your tasks more fun? Let me know in the comments on the episode page!   Got a question you’d love to hear me answer on the show? Leave me a voice message here!   In This Episode Why motivation is a myth Why you can’t rely on motivation to spur you forward What happens when you recognize “the why” behind why you want or need to do something How to take imperfect action and reduce the barriers to achieving your task Why you should create a distraction-free work zone How making an activity fun can make it easier to do What you can do to work through the discomfort and a lack of self-confidence around why you’re struggling to do something   Quotes “If we’re going to achieve the things we want to achieve in life, there are going to be times where we have to take action in spite of a lack of motivation.” (6:34) “Doing it will actually start to build momentum towards bigger action. So, identify a small action step that you can easily take and then just do it.” (26:23) “Figuring out the emotional reason behind why you’re so hesitant to do something is so important. Because if you’re going to move past that, you have to deal with that emotional challenge so you can free yourself up to do the thing that you want to do.” (48:02)   Links Book your Functional Nutrition Strategy Session with Me Find Fed and Fearless Online Got a question you’d love to hear me answer on the show? Leave me a voice message here! How To Know If You're Ready for Fat Loss

Losing weight is a topic on so many people’s minds as a priority for them and their body. But did you know that if you have any of these 16 signs or symptoms, you should actually put your weight loss goals on hold while you figure out what’s going on with your health? Are You Ready for Fat Loss?   In this episode of Fed and Fearless, I’m talking about the 16 signs and symptoms that mean you’re not ready for fat loss. Starting with feeling tired all the time. Like, fatigued, weary to your bones kind of tired! When you embark on a fat-loss mission, you’re going to be putting your body into an even more tired state, so don’t contribute to your fatigue if you’re already there. If you’re not sleeping properly and/or getting up in the night to pee, there’s probably something underlying going on that you should address before focusing on losing weight. Same if you feel cold more often than not as poor circulation can indicate something more substantial going on in your body. When you’re ready to lose weight, your mental health should also be good, as lower calories can negatively impact your thoughts. The term ‘hangry’ exists for a reason and if you’re already in a fragile mental state, lowering your calories can be devastating.  Not having your period is also a sign that your body isn’t in the right state for weight loss. This could mean that you’re already over-exercising or under-eating. And similarly, if you have symptoms related to your thyroid function, you should absolutely get these checked out before starting a fat-loss protocol. If you have a regular exercise routine, you need to make sure that your recovery supports your body and all your fat-loss efforts. I talk about quite a few different aspects of your recovery and injury prevention to think about before deciding anything about your weight-loss. Losing your sex drive is another big sign that you’re not ready for weight loss, too. Finally, did you know that, despite some information out there, you absolutely and in no uncertain terms should be trying to lose weight while you’re pregnant, even if you’re already overweight? This is highly detrimental to yours and your baby’s health!  Did you find that you have some of these signs or symptoms? Let me know in the comments on the episode page!   In This Episode What the 16 signs and symptoms are that means you’re not ready for fat loss How a weight-loss protocol can contribute to feelings of fatigue Why poor sleep can increase your body fat What it means if you’re cold all the time Why your mental health should be good in order to embark on a fat-loss journey What your period can indicate regarding your weight-loss journey Why you need to focus on your thyroid health before dealing with fat-loss How your exercise recovery protocol can actually mean you’re not ready for weight-loss How dieting and weight-loss can negatively impact your sex drive Why you shouldn’t try to lose weight while you’re pregnant   Quotes “If you’re feeling that fatigue on a day-to-day basis, you don’t want to be putting energy into an intentional fat-loss protocol because you will most likely experience a worsening of that fatigue.” (8:30) “If you are someone who’s waking up more than once a night to pee, or if you wake up to pee and you can’t fall back asleep after getting up to go to the bathroom, you may need to focus on eating more for a while and really getting that symptom under control.” (16:28) “By focusing on your health first and really maximizing your health, you’re actually putting your body at a better place to be able to lose body fat and preparing your metabolism for a short-term calorie deficit so you can really get into a place where you are burning extra body fat.” (33:07)   Links Book your Functional Nutrition Strategy Session with Me Running an online health business? Join the 2020 Inner Circle Mastermind Got a question you’d love to hear me answer on the show? Leave me a voice message here! With so much information out there about health and fitness, from coaches encouraging shame and “no pain, no gain” approaches to others telling you to ditch diet culture completely, it can be hard to feel comfortable with wanting to change your body while still loving yourself. HOW TO LOVE YOUR BODY WHILE CHANGING IT In this episode of Fed and Fearless, I’m offering an alternative to that either/or of diet and anti-diet culture. By employing these 9 tips, you can love your body while still achieving your health and fitness-related goals, without guilt. We need to learn to be kind to ourselves. Imagine if other people spoke to us the way our inner critic can? We absolutely wouldn’t put up with it from them, so why do we allow ourselves to be so mean? And while we’re breaking up with things, it’s time to ditch the obsession with your scale. I don’t mean you have to never weigh yourself again, but if you attach negative feelings or get upset by what the number is, maybe you shouldn’t be using the scale in your journey. You should curate your social media feed so that it’s not filled with images that make you feel ashamed or guilty. It also shouldn’t be an echo chamber of people who are never changing. Your social media feeds should inspire you and fill you with positivity. Embarking on a health and fitness goal isn’t always going to be easy. Learning to love the harder parts is all part of the journey - and I’m not talking about that “no pain, no gain” sentiment. And you should absolutely be grateful for what your body can do right now - you’re alive, right?  In fact, I’d say that your health and fitness goals shouldn’t be the most important thing in your life. You should be honoring and prioritizing your values and hobbies above anything else. This helps you feel content about where you are now, even if you do have bigger health goals in mind. Finally, ditch the guilt from whoever or wherever it’s coming from about wanting to achieve your health goals. You deserve to focus on the goals that feel good to you! And that includes embracing the entire journey to get there… whether you actually make your goals or not. Which of these 9 tips is the most practical for you to start implementing? Which one are you the most excited about? Which tip has impacted you the most? Let me know in the comments on the episode page.   Got a question you’d love to hear me answer on the show? Leave me a voice message here!   In This Episode Why you need to be kind to ourselves and lose the negative self-talk What happens when you break up with your scale obsession How you can curate your social media feed to make you feel inspired and positive about yourself Why you should embrace the harder parts of making a change How you can cultivate gratitude for what your body can do right now What happens when you put your values and hobbies before your health and fitness goals How you can be content and appreciate today without abandoning your goals Why you should ditch the guilt surrounding your health and fitness goals How you can embrace who you’re becoming while pursuing your goals   Quotes “Being kind to yourself is not only going to make you feel about your body and about who you are, but it’s also going to help you be more effective in reaching your goals and changing your body.” (8:28) “Failure is not something that is only happening to you. To be able to reach your health goal means that you have to be able to willing to embrace these failures.” (19:34) “Whatever your goal is when it comes to your health and your body, it’s nobody else’s business to tell you what your goal should be. I want you to give yourself permission to pursue the goals that are meaningful to you.” (34:51)   Links Book a Functional Nutrition Strategy Session Find Fed and Fearless Online Got a question you’d love to hear me answer on the show? Leave me a voice message here! If you’ve ever wondered about what it could look like to go from being an engineer to the senior executive level of your company, you won’t want to miss this episode. This week on the Programming Leadership podcast, Marcus interviews Eric Muntz, the Senior Vice President of Engineering at MailChimp. They discuss Eric’s career shifts as well as the challenges and lessons he’s learned along the way. Show Notes One of the first lessons Eric learned in management was how to listen well. It’s about waiting to jump in before you speak and being intentional about when you do. When Eric began moving up in leadership, he asked himself, “What types of things do I need to do to go in and actually be perceived that way from people who don't know me at all?” One step he made was going through the employees’ training and asking them how he could help them do their jobs better. If you’re looking for a promotion, know that managers are looking for who is helping and who understands the big picture. Address burnout. Talk about it. Especially with those who are prone to care ‘too much.’ Eric shares that MailChimp’s company motto is, "Listen hard, change fast,” which gives you permission to be wrong — and fosters growth among all involved. This week on the Programming Leadership podcast, we’re diving into the theories and definitions of what leadership means and looks like (and even what it doesn’t look like)! Even if you wouldn’t call yourself a “natural born” leader, Marcus encourages you to remember that leadership is a process, requires learned skills and everyone has the building blocks to become a great leader. So, what are you waiting for? Tune in to find out how you can start building your leadership skills today. Show Notes Leadership is a process, something we can improve over time as there’s no ultimate goal or right/wrong way to do it. Leadership outcomes is not about controlling people, it's about creating an environment that affords everyone the ability to work on solving the most important problem at hand, because we all want to work on solving these problems. Leader’s don’t have to have the title, “Manager.” They’re often those people on your team who care; who believe that it's better when everyone contributes and that the job gets done smoother. Marcus breaks down the two camps of leadership theories: entity theories and dyadic theories. The entity theory asks, makes a leader so great? “It’s the idea that we look up to these leaders, admire them, and if we ever find ourselves in a leadership or management role, let's try and become like them. Let's model them.” [00:13:19 to 00:13:30] Dyadic theories study the relationship between the leader and the follower. “The quality of relationship that people have with their boss is a predictor of how good their performance is and how satisfied they are.” [00:16:59 to 00:17:07] Everyone has the building blocks to be a great leader. If you’re new to a leadership/management role, Marcus suggests to reduce your coding time and increase your people time. In other words, start delegating more. Time management is one of the most difficult things in the transition from programmer to manager. This week on the Programming Leadership podcast, host Marcus Blankenship shares his core beliefs about what it truly means to be a manager. He discusses the differences between the management and leadership and highlights key aspects of leadership that inspires anyone, regardless of job title or natural born talents, to step up and lead with confidence. Show Notes It’s important to find out what it takes to be a great leader, even if you never get promoted to manager. And that’s exactly what the the Programming Leadership podcast will help you figure out. Management is about things and processes, whereas leadership focuses on people — empowering and unleashing others to help them reach their highest potential. Author Gerald Weinberg describes leadership as, “creating an environment where everyone can participate in solving the most important problems.” Read more from his book, Becoming a Technical Leader. Two important things to remember about leadership: 1) Leadership is a skill that can be learned and 2) Leadership is about building (high-quality) relationships. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”  Douglas Abrams is the founder of Idea Architects, a book publishing, and media company that works with visionary authors to create a wiser, healthier, and more just world. Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu have both survived more than fifty years of exile. Both have endured the soul-crushing violence of oppression. And yet despite their hardships—or, as they would say, because of them—they are two of the most joyful people on the planet. Doug recognized this and asked two simple, yet profound questions: How is this possible? And what can we learn from their example to cultivate more joy in the face of life’s inevitable suffering? In celebration of the Dalai Lama’s 80th birthday, Doug traveled to Dharamsala, India, alongside Archbishop Tutu for a five-day conversation on the nature of human happiness and suffering, the two Nobel Peace Prize recipients traded intimate stories, teased each other continually, and shared their spiritual practices.  Out of that, came Doug’s new book, The Book of Joy, a New York Times bestseller that probes the very nature of joy itself — the illusions that eclipse it, the obstacles that obscure it, the practices that cultivate it, and the pillars that sustain it.  If you enjoyed this episode, you'll also enjoy the episode with Heather Hartnett, where we talk about eastern philosophies and western ways of living and working.  Links: Book of Joy Idea Architects Dalai Lama Archbishop Desmond Tutu David Perell, Twitter Follow the Podcast Please leave an honest review on iTunes. We’ll hear about Jimmy’s health journey, some myths about intermittent, alternate day, and extended fasting, who fasting is for, and who it is not for, and the potential long-term health benefits to the metabolically broken. Cassy Joy: Welcome back to the Fed and Fit podcast. Today I’m joined by a friend and I don’t know if he knows this, but I really do consider him a mentor and an example in this industry of just working with integrity, staying true to your passions. His name is Jimmy Moore, and if you haven’t heard of him before, he catapulted onto the health scene in 2004 after a phenomenal 180-pound weight loss which enabled him to come off prescription drugs for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and respiratory problems. He is the energetic personality, that is not an exaggeration, behind the very uber popular blog, Livin’ Lavida Low Carb, and is the host of the longest running, and one of the top ranked iTunes health podcasts the Livin’ Lavida Low Carb show. Jimmy also hosts two other active podcasts; Keto Talk with Jimmy Moore and the Doc; and Low Carb Conversations, along with the retired podcast, Ask the Low Carb experts. He has interviewed over 1100 of the world’s top health experts, and has dedicated his life to helping people get the best information possible about living health so they can make the right decisions for their health. Jimmy is the international bestselling author of the Ketogenic Cookbook, Keto Clarity, and Cholesterol Clarity, along with the October 2016 release, the Complete Guide to Fasting, which is what we are going to talk about today. Learn more about Jimmy and his work at https://www.livinlavidalowcarb.com. I am so excited to welcome you onto the show today, Jimmy, thank you so much for joining us! Jimmy Moore: Hey Cassy! It’s fun to be on your podcast. I’ve admired your work from afar as well, so we’re definitely the mutual respect club here today. {laughs} Cassy Joy: Oh that’s very kind of you, thank you so much! I’m excited to have you. I have been a humble guest on a couple of Jimmy’s shows before, and if you can’t tell already from his amazing voice, he’s very talented as a podcaster! Jimmy Moore: Aww! Cassy Joy: So, y’all are going to enjoy today’s show, I’m sure. He’s got a wealth of information, and is just nice to listen to! {laughs} Jimmy Moore: You are very kind. I’ve done this a little while, and I’ve got a nice microphone, so those two things help. {laughs} Cassy Joy: They do. They do help. Meanwhile I’m holding my little iTunes headphones out in front of my voice because I didn’t get my mic charged! {laughs} Jimmy Moore: {laughs} Oops! Cassy Joy: You know, I just like to be as honest as possible. Jimmy Moore: “Behind the scenes of podcasting.” Cassy Joy: Exactly; exactly. Which is really what Snapchat is all about.
