Pathfinding our Destiny: Preventing the Final Fall of Our Democratic Republic By Charles Hugh SmithHear it Here - https://adbl.co/3Ob427Hwww.audible.com/pd/B07M689SMP/?source_code=AUDFPWS0223189MWU-BK-ACX0-138545&ref=acx_bty_BK_ACX0_138545_pd_usAmerica teeters on the precipice: our government is now captive to special interests and big money, twin cancers that threaten our democracy. This accelerating crisis is exacerbated by a toxic social media-fueled tribalism that has replaced “what do you think?” with “which side are you on?” Our crisis isn't just political—it's structural: as the pace of change explodes from gradual to non-linear, the organizations that dominate our economy—centralized corporations and government—become destined to fail. We see this failure in both the soaring inequality that has hollowed out the American Dream as well as in the rising tide of social and political disunity. To prevent the fall of our democratic republic, we must transform our economy and society from the ground up. As we enter a new era of rapid, unprecedented tumult, it is we citizens who will need to save our democracy. For our political and financial elites will cling to their centralized power, doing more of what's failed, even as civil society unravels. All is not lost—yet. Our way forward starts with understanding the fatal flaws of our brittle, self-serving status quo and embracing this basic truth: better options are available if we're willing to explore. To pathfind our way to a better destiny, we must create new localized structures optimized for resilience and adaptability—a flexible, decentralized, sustainable, democratic, opportunity-for-all nation.#Destiny #Keywords #RussellNewton #NewtonMG #PathfindingourDestiny #CharlesHughSmith

September 2023 felt like a final exam to help me really anchor in the principles that I've been working to integrate and embody over the last year. I do not say this lightly when I say that this month was one of the most powerful months of transformation I have experienced. It was a month that included putting myself in situations that had a lot of emotional volatility, which served as an entry point for me to access a spiritual depth that I didn't know I had access to. Ultimately, this month played a crucial role in helping me shape my definition of what “God” is and what it FEELS like in my body to live in the frequency of divine love as I understand it.A few topics we discuss:Discovering the many frequencies of loveLetting go of needing a particular outcomeRedefining masculinity based on inner truthTrusting uncertainty as a teacher on the pathFinding freedom through feeling everything fullyExpanding capacity for love through vulnerable experiencesIntegrating breakthroughs through spiritual practiceAnd so much more…This episode is filled with practical tools to help you navigate the complex world of interpersonal relationships and spiritual growth with as much ease and grace as you can. In this episode the guys have been playing a range of new, or new to them, games which have bought up some interesting (hopefully) considerations. The first thing to occur is that they previously talked about AI, without fully engaging on the subject of target priority for AI opponents or their pathfinding systems. The time for that engagement is now! As such, they chat about these issues, and a bit about some of the solutions. Glenn and Mike are the developer and designer respectively of games such as Gaslands, Gaslands: Refuelled and A Billion Suns and here they talk about how, why and sometimes if to design tabletop miniatures games with discussions, tips, reviews and interviews. “Man cannot fully find himself except through a sincere gift of himself.”~ St. John Paul IIIt sounds so simple: do good things that make me healthy, happy, & holy and avoid the things that stop me from thriving. Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2023.05.05.539408v1?rss=1 Authors: Forsthofer, M., Gordy, C., Kolluri, M., Straka, H. Abstract: To generate a coherent visual percept, information from both eyes must be appropriately transmitted into the brain, where binocular integration forms the substrate for visuomotor behaviors. To establish the anatomical substrate for binocular integration, the presence of bilateral eyes and interaction of both optic nerves during retinotectal development play a key role. However, the extent to which embryonic monocularly derived visual circuits can convey visuomotor behaviors is unknown. In this study, we assessed the retinotectal anatomy and visuomotor performance of embryonically generated one-eyed tadpoles. In one-eyed animals, the axons of retinal ganglion cells from the singular remaining eye exhibited striking irregularities in their central projections in the brain, generating a non-canonical ipsilateral retinotectal projection. This data is indicative of impaired pathfinding abilities. We further show that these novel projections are correlated with an impairment of behavioral compensation for the loss of one eye. There is an uncomfortable type of personal growth known as adversarial growth or post-traumatic growth. While not the way one would choose to grow, it offers opportunity that can be extremely useful and formative. This opportunity can be viewed as three paths, three ways of responding to negative or painful circumstances. One path will take you only in circles, and the second deeper into negativity and despair, but the third leads to resilience and wisdom. In this episode, I want to explore the idea of this third path or this “falling up”, as it has also been termed. But how do you find it? What are its characteristics? Let's talk about how we can find and then take the third path and grow from adversity.“We live in a world where things happen… adversarial events, crises, all sorts of challenging things happen… it's sort of the nature of life... [But] if you are in a positive sort of mental state, if you feel energized, optimistic, happy, and you're thriving, you're way more likely to be able to create the changes you want to.” – Dr. Sara DillWhat You'll LearnDefining adversarial growthCharacteristics of the first pathCharacteristics of the second pathCharacteristics of the third pathFinding the third pathCrisis as opportunityCounterfactsPositive narrativeContact Info and Recommended ResourcesBook: The Happiness Advantage by Shawn AchorPodcast Episodes that pair well with this one:How (and why) to Transform Any Crisis into a GiftA Fresh Start (or how to begin again)Believing New ThingsNew Group Coaching Session: coming soon! Cloud architects have long wished for more flexibility in how memory is provisioned in servers, and CXL is finally delivering on a decade of promises. In this episode of Utilizing Tech, Stephen Foskett and Craig Rodgers talk to Dan Ernst of Microsoft, who is deeply involved in bringing CXL-attached memory to fruition within Azure. Dan was previously involved in the Gen-Z effort, and feels that CXL picks up the baton and brings valuable real-world benefits to cloud server architecture. Memory has a bigger impact on overall IT platforms than many are aware, and is already the costliest component in large servers. Per Amdahl's Law, it makes sense to look for cost savings in memory. And this is doubly the case because DIMMs only come in certain sizes so memory is usually over-specified. CXL memory modules cost a bit more than a DIMM, but this is offset by efficient right-sizing, and CXL is already cheaper than 3D stacked DIMMs. Hosts: Stephen Foskett: https://www.twitter.com/SFoskett Craig Rodgers: https://www.twitter.com/CraigRodgersms Guest Host: Dan Ernst, Principal Architect working on Future Azure Cloud Systems, Microsoft Azure https://www.linkedin.com/in/danernst/ Follow Gestalt IT and Utilizing Tech Website: https://www.UtilizingTech.com/ Website: https://www.GestaltIT.com/ Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/GestaltIT LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/1789 Tags: #CXL #DIMMs #Azure #UtilizingCXL @Microsoft @Azure

In light of the release of the Pathfinding report on the ARISE church, and Jaimee's own reflections on its implications for the wider church, we unpack with Jaimee what it might look like if we were to take the 92 recommendations seriously. We're invited to turn the spotlight on ourselves and consider our part to play as we wrestle with what the church is and who we are aspiring to be in Aotearoa today.
Allegations of racism, sexual assault, homophobia, bullying and actively discouraging victims from going to the police are contained in a leaked copy of an investigation into Arise Church. RNZ has obtained a copy of an independent report into the pentecostal church done by Pathfinding. This report compiled by Jonty Dine and Chris Cessford.

Way too often, we limit ourselves and our mindset, our potential and our finances. Despite what you may believe, it IS possible to break away from the middle class. It IS possible to develop a strong mindset. And it IS possible to live a life of success, abundance, and financial freedom. As we go through life, you need to think and act like the top 1% in order to be the 1%. The best way to do this is to not run away from problems, but to "embrace problems, look for a solution and profit from that problem.Together, Steven and Matt discuss:Finding passion in your career choiceThe process of starting a real estate portfolioTaking the leap to what you want and deserve in lifeLeaving a successful business because you "are on the wrong mountain top"How success is more than just money and achievements"Behind every big move is a set of beliefs"Lessons learned from books like "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and "The 4 Hour Work Week"Playing the long game of creating your own pathFinding mentors and people that we look up toRe-wiring your subconscious mind through immersing yourself with new informationHow Steven defines successOvercoming a fear of money---Save on groceries with INSTACART: Instacart - HomeSave 15% on all STRONG COFFEE products using code 'SUCCESS' Strong Coffee Company - The World's Premier On-the-Go CoffeeSave on all CURED Products using code 'MATT' or: CURED Nutrition: Cannabinoid, Mushroom and Adaptogen SupplementsGet a free trial with Audible: https://www.audible.com/ep/creator?source_code=PDTGBPD060314004R&irclickid=Qprz83RHKxyLR2JwUx0Mo389UkGRPA2VRzLo0A0&irgwc=1SUBSCRIBE to the Define Success Podcast on any podcast platform: The Define Success Podcast with Matt Lupi on Apple PodcastsFOLLOW us on Instagram: The Define Success Podcast (@definesuccess_pod) • Instagram photos and videosFollow Matt on Instagram: Matt Lupi (@matt__lupi) • Instagram photos and videosLeave a 5-star RATING on Spotify: The Define Success Podcast with Matt Lupi | Podcast on Spotify

Celebrating our 10th re:Invent As the 10th edition of re:Invent gets started here in Las Vegas, we take a look back at some of the event's most . Cloud is the opportunity to reimagine everything What do Angelo-Giuseppi ‘Hank' Luisetti, an American college basketball player; Florence Nightingale, a British nurse, social reformer, and pioneer in statistics; and Roscoe Brown, one of the first Black aviators to serve in the U.S. Army Air Corps, all have in common? Whether it was Luisetti pioneering an early version of the jump shot in the 1930s, to Nightingale driving huge reforms in healthcare in the late 1800s, to Brown breaking racial stereotypes as a distinguished, trailblazing pilot in World War II, they were all considered innovators in their specific field. And according to AWS CEO Adam Selipsky, they were all pathfinders: people who refused to accept the status quo and looked for a better way to do things–transforming their fields and communities in the process. Pathfinding was the theme of Selipsky's keynote at re:Invent this morning, his first since taking over as CEO earlier this year. Selipsky said AWS had come a long way in 15 years, looking back at how it disrupted the information technology industry when it launched in 2006, when the concept of cloud hardly existed. He described how IT and infrastructure was inflexible and slow, and suffocated innovation. AWS knew there could be a better path forward, then—and now. And according to Selipsky, the company is running as hard and fast now as it was back in 2006. During his keynote, Selipksy made a suite of new service announcements showcasing AWS's continued commitment to innovation, as well as inviting customers Nasdaq, United Airlines, Dish Wireless, and 3M on stage to share how AWS is helping them forge entirely new paths in their own industries. AWS CEO Adam Selipsky makes six major service announcements during keynote Photo by Colin Young-Wolff New instances powered by AWS-designed chips lower costs and increase energy efficiency In 2006—when cell phones could flip, but they weren't yet smart—a team of AWS engineers set themselves an ambitious goal of making almost infinite computing power available to anyone in the world. And they did it. The service they created, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), revolutionised the way people build businesses by offering on-demand access to the kind of compute power previously only available to Fortune 500 companies. Fifteen years on, and EC2 shows no sign of slowing down. Today's announcement of three new Amazon EC2 instances (virtual servers that mimic the functionality of physical servers) powered by three new AWS-designed chips—AWS Graviton 3, AWS Trainium, and AWS Nitro SSD—will help customers: Significantly improve the performance, cost, and energy-efficiency of the workloads they run on EC2 Speed up the time it takes to train machine learning models at lower cost Ensure optimum storage performance for data intensive workloads As part of the announcement, Selipsky said: “AWS is working with SAP to power SAP HANA Cloud with AWS Graviton processors.” Read the press release to find out more. Making it easier to move off a mainframe For those of us not so well-versed in the language of information technology, a mainframe, or ‘big iron' as they are sometimes referred to, is a high-performance computer typically used by large companies for critical applications—such as storing and processing large amounts of customer data. While mainframes have been used for decades in industries including banking and healthcare, they are complex, expensive, and difficult to scale. That's not to mention the fact that applications written for mainframes are increasingly hard to manage, as fewer and fewer engineers specialise in what's essentially an outdated technology. Many organizations want to modernize their systems and move from mainframes to the cloud, but are held back by the sheer complexity and time-consuming nature of the process. T...

In this episode of the Anthro to UX podcast, Jay Hasbrouck speaks with Matt Artz about his UX journey, visual anthropology, and how ethnographic thinking can contribute to strategy and new product development. Jay earned a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Southern California, works as a Pathfinder for Facebook, and is the author of Ethnographic Thinking: From Method to Mindset.About Jay HasbrouckJay Hasbrouck has over 15 years of experience working as an anthropologist in industry settings, including both in-house roles and consulting. He currently works as a Pathfinder on the New Product Experimentation team at Facebook. Previously Jay was a partner at Ethnoworks, the founder of Filament Insights & Innovation, a senior human factors specialist at IDEO, and a research scientist at Intel. Jay is also the author of Ethnographic Thinking: From Method to Mindset.About Ethnographic Thinking: From Method to MindsetThe book argues that ‘ethnographic thinking'―the thought processes and patterns ethnographers develop through their practice―offers companies and organizations the cultural insights they need to develop fully-informed strategies. Using real-world examples, Hasbrouck demonstrates how shifting the value of ethnography from simply identifying consumer needs to driving a more holistic understanding of a company or organization can help it benefit from a deeper understanding of the dynamic and interactive cultural contexts of its offerings. In doing so, he argues that such an approach can also enhance the strategic value of their work by helping them increase appreciation for openness and exploration, hone interpretive skills, and cultivate holistic thinking, in order to broaden perspectives, challenge assumptions, and cross-pollinate ideas between differing viewpoints.Recommended LinksJay Hasbrouck on LinkedInJay Hasbrouck's Personal WebsiteJay Hasbrouchk's Blog - The Ethnographic MindEthnographic Thinking: From Method to Mindset on AmazonEPIC 2021About Anthro to UXThe Anthro to UX podcast is for anthropologists looking to break into user experience (UX) research. Fredrik chats with Tommy Maloteaux about his VR god game Deisim and all the interesting stuff which has happened in and around the game since episode 406 where Tommy first was a guest on the podcast. We start with some background on Tommy and how he got into game development from a start as a web developer. Then Tommy tells us how he got started creating the game. Tommy likes to start small and iterate, and he chose to start with the AI. We also discuss how the word AI can sound a lot more intimidating than when you actually need to build for your game. Deisim is available on multiple platforms, and since we last spoke it has become available through Oculus App lab, and thus much easier to play on Oculus quest. Tommy tells us about how App lab works, and how it has changed things for Deisim (and saved Oculus a lot of developer accounts). The other major event for Deisim since last time is that the game sells enough that it has allowed Tommy to make the game his full time job. Tommy talks about how going full time has changed how he works on the game, like both having more time, and also given him a chance to find a nice work-life balance. Also: how temperature can affect what gets worked on for the game. We discuss what hardware Tommy uses to develop the game, and interesting differences between running on desktop versus mobile hardware. On the Quest, the game is GPU bound, on the PC it’s CPU bound. A 2D mode for the game is in development, and Tommy talks about that version and what changes he needed to make to get the game running in 2D on a PC with a mouse. A well-factored code base and build pipeline helped a lot. Last but not least, Tommy discusses the power of having core values for your project, which the core values for Deisim are, and letting them guide what gets put in or not.
