Are humans really fish? Why are we the only animals with chins? How much of our DNA do we share with the trillions of bacteria in our bodies? For centuries, scientists have chased the secrets of how life on our planet arose, how it assumed its dazzling diversity of forms, and how we humans are related to everything else on earth. With increasingly sophisticated genetic methods now bringing us ever closer to answers, leading evolutionary biologist Max Telford takes us inside one of science's greatest quests. In the intellectually thrilling The Tree of Life: Solving Science's Greatest Puzzle (W. W. Norton, 2025), Telford shows how reconstructing the web of relationships between all our planet's species, from birds and butterflies to mushrooms and moose, allows us to unravel the epic history of life on our planet. In Telford's hands, the many-branched evolutionary trees that biologists assemble--from Charles Darwin's first sketches to the vast computer-generated diagrams scientists are building today--become time machines that take us on a vivid journey through four billion years of life's history. We meet long-lost ancestors, picturing them in the environment of a much younger earth, and discover where we first acquired our backbones and nipples and, conversely, where we lost our tails. We learn how insects are "actually" crustaceans, and how dogs and wolves are more closely related to whales than to the recently extinct Tasmanian wolves they so resemble. Far from a dry representation of the dead, the tree of life is a living, shifting thing that constantly alters our perspective on the past, present, and future of life on earth. For any reader fascinated by evolution and natural history, The Tree of Life is an essential portal to the distant past and a window onto our collective origins. Learn more about your ad choices. Birth defects affect one in 33 babies, making them the top cause of infant death A study published in Environmental Research found that real-world PFAS mixtures can disrupt placental functions during the first trimester of pregnancy Other studies have also associated PFAS exposure with preeclampsia, changes in placental DNA, and nervous system defects during pregnancy Sources of PFAS at home include cosmetics, non-stick pans, infant clothing, and certain clothing Reducing PFAS exposure is challenging, but filtering water properly, making smart swaps in the kitchen, and opting for natural fabrics is a good start

“If your apartment complex required you to DNA‑swab your dog so they could fine you for any poop you didn't pick up… would you fight it, or proudly hand over the cheek swab?”That's the question that kicks off a riotously funny edition of The Ben and Skin Show, as Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin ‘KT' Turner, and Krystina Ray unravel one of the wildest HOA policies ever put in place — a New Jersey luxury condo that uses a company called Poo Prints to match abandoned dog droppings with the responsible canine through DNA testing.

The tragic murder of 16-year-old Joyce McLain shocked the small town of East Millinocket, Maine, in August 1980. A popular honors student, cheerleader, saxophonist, and aspiring soccer player, Joyce vanished during a routine evening jog near Schenck High School. Her partially clothed body was discovered two days later in a wooded area behind the soccer fields—beaten to death with blunt force trauma, hands bound with a blue cloth, and a telephone insulator likely the murder weapon. No sexual assault occurred, and heavy thunderstorms washed away potential evidence, leaving no fingerprints or usable DNA. The case haunted the community for nearly 38 years, featured on Unsolved Mysteries in 1989, spurring tips but no immediate resolution. Philip Scott Fournier, then 19, emerged as the perpetrator through multiple confessions—to family, a pastor, coworkers, and notably a janitor in 1989—revealing non-public details like the weapon and Joyce’s condition. Despite claims of unreliability due to a brain injury from a nearby truck crash (hours after the murder), he was convicted in a 2018 bench trial and sentenced to 45 years. Appeals failed, and he remains incarcerated. In this episode of the Unsolved Mysteries Rewind Podcast, hosts Mark and Catharine delve into the chilling details, the long road to justice, and the hope it brings to other cold cases. If you've ever wondered, “What's actually real when it comes to UAPs, aliens, and nonhuman intelligence?”...today, you're getting real answers. This episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown cuts through decades of speculation, misinformation, and stigma to bring you hard science, firsthand research, and never-before-shared insights from one of the most credible scientists studying UAPs today. For years, the public has been left guessing—Are UFOs real? Are aliens visiting us? Are people actually being harmed? And why won't mainstream science touch this topic? That changes today. We're sitting down with Dr. Garry Nolan, Professor of Pathology at Stanford University School of Medicine, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Sol Foundation (a leading research institute focused on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena), and a featured expert in the hit documentary The Age of Disclosure. Dr. Nolan explains how he scientifically proved the infamous Atacama “alien” skeleton was not extraterrestrial, revealing what the DNA of true nonhuman life might actually look like if we ever encounter it. We also explore his classified-adjacent work studying UAPs, including deeply unsettling cases of alleged human injuries linked to possible UAP encounters and energy weapons, and the shocking implications these cases may have for regions of the human brain tied to intuition, perception, and consciousness itself. Dr. Nolan shares what he's uncovered from analyzing alleged UAP artifacts, including materials connected to Roswell, and how his lab studies metal fragments containing anomalies that appear to defy known physics. This episode goes where most won't—and does so with data, restraint, and scientific rigor. We're breaking down: - Why the Atacama “alien” skeleton fooled the world, and how science finally solved it - What alien or nonhuman DNA would actually look like (and why Hollywood gets it wrong) - What UAP-related human injury cases may reveal about the brain, intuition, and perception - How alleged UFO materials and Roswell fragments are analyzed at the atomic level - What Dr. Nolan believes the true goal of nonhuman intelligence might be - Why he thinks aliens should allow humanity to evolve naturally before further interference - What he personally witnessed as a child involving UAPs and nonhuman intelligence - How he responds to skepticism and backlash from fellow scientists - And whether humanity faces a physical or existential risk from alien contact This is not science fiction. This is cutting-edge science colliding with the biggest mystery of all time. Once you hear this, you may never look at reality the same way again. In broad daylight on October 19th, 2025, thieves dressed as construction workers targeted the Louvre and vanished with $100 million in royal jewels in about eight minutes. On this episode of Zone 7, Sheryl McCollum is joined by former jewel thief Bryan Sobolewski to lay out exactly how a heist like this gets pulled off, what mistakes crews make when the clock is ticking, and why modern forensics can turn a “perfect” job into an evidence trail. Sobolewski then shares his own history, the losses, and long-term consequences, and why he now speaks publicly to warn others away from choosing a life of crime. Highlights: • (0:00) Sheryl McCollum recounts the Louvre entry point, the freight truck with extended ladder, missing jewels, and why “construction work” is the perfect disguise in a crowded tourist environment • (2:45) Sheryl brings in former jewel thief Bryan Sobolewski to talk about the heist • (4:45) The ladder truck problem: sourcing it, driving it, and the traceability thieves cannot erase • (7:15) The moped getaway and why Paris geography favors two wheels • (8:15) Uninsured jewels and what security should have anticipated • (10:00) How fast cases move when the thieves leave obvious evidence behind • (12:15) Flight attempts, the hired-crew theory, and how the organizer can remain invisible • (16:15) DNA, fingerprints, and trace evidence • (19:15) The gear left behind and why serial numbers and rentals make a heist crew traceable • (24:00) Bryan’s New England backdrop, mob proximity, and “street rules” • (27:45) Bryan recounts his father and brother dying on the same night and the questions he is left to live with • (30:15) Why display cases are harder to break than people think, and how reinforced glass slows thieves down • (40:30) Bryan reflects on the long-term cost of crime, what accountability looks like after prison, and why he warns people away from choosing that life Guest Bio: Bryan Sobolewski is a former jewel thief who speaks publicly about robbery methods, prevention, and the real-world consequences of criminal conviction. He has appeared on Fox's reality series The Snake and on America's Most Wanted. Sobolewski is also a comedian and personal trainer, previously hosted the Family Jewels podcast and authored the book Family Jewels. Enjoying Zone 7? On Aug. 23, 1984, Mary Flynn had been visiting her brother Martin Flynn and his wife, Kate, looking for houses for sale in their neighborhood. That night, around 10 p.m., a neighbor saw Flynn walking from her Toyota Tercel to the back door of her home after her visit to her brother and his wife.Hours later, she was dead. The next day, concerned that Mary hadn't shown up for work and unable to reach her, a fellow nurse at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital called Marty Flynn. The two met at the duplex and got in through an unlocked door on the tenants' side of the basement, according to court documents. His sister was lying facedown on her bare mattress, nude, badly beaten and bloodied. Her wrists were bound behind her back with what appeared to be a torn strip of the bed sheet, which was also tied around her neck and the bed's headboard. It wasn't long till police would bring in Tony for questioning, he'd recently done some work on Mary's house and had been seen talking with her that day. Innitially they let Tony go but a month later he got a call to say he needs to come in to the station because he is going to be formally charged with murder. After being convicted Tony eas sentenced to death and would spend more than 30 years on death row until DNA would seemingly exonerate him of the crime. He spent two years back home iwth his family until eventually a techincal legal loop hole saw him re arrested and sent back to death row where he remains today.EARLY AND AD FREE ACCESS: for as little as $1.69 a week!Apple + HEREPatreon and find us on Facebook here. Identical twins Frederick and Cedric Young were caught in a wrongful-conviction controversy after a 1993 string of armed robberies, when Frederick was convicted largely on eyewitness identification and guns found in his car, despite alibis, claims of mistaken identity, and later testimony that Cedric was the real perpetrator. The case, featured on Unsolved Mysteries, highlights serious flaws in eyewitness testimony and the difficulty of exoneration when crimes involve identical twins and no definitive DNA evidence. In this episode, the siblings tackle the Best Family Bands- acts build on bloodlines, not just talent. Though, genetics being what they are, talent, like apples, doesn't seem to fall far from the tree. Using The Music List's signature draft and debate format, we argue which bloodline ties that played together truly earned their legacy. The only rule? The musical act must have at least two members in it that are blood relatives. Mother and daughter, father and son, siblings, or even cousins. Shared blood means they're eligible for drafting. We discuss siblings' blood harmony, its effects on the music, and how shared DNA contributes to greatness. Of course, you can expect hot takes, humorous moments, and fierce arguments as siblings debate...other siblings. Join us and decide for yourself which family-based musical acts should earn top billing on The Music List!
Yesterday we started reading Paul's letter to the Romans. It contains so much that is relevant to life today. Paul writes of how humans, “claiming to be wise, they became fools” [Ch.1 v.22] He says, “what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them” [v.19] He says, “his invisible attributes …. have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made” [v.20] In other words, although God himself cannot be seen by human eyes, the evidence of his existence should be plain to humans because of all the remarkable things which he has created. Paul continues, “they became futile in their thinking and their foolish heart was darkened.” [v.21] The foolishness of those days, which still continues among some nations, is to believe God is represented in animals, such as Elephants, and to worship them. But today, throughout what we call the Western world, so many who are “claiming to be wise” – believe there is no God of any kind, that everything that exists in some unknowable way – created itself! This was possible, they strangely reason, if we allow enough millions and billions of years, through an endless series of “accidents.” Yet the more humans discover the wonders of the world in which they live, the more incredible they finds it to be, all the wonders of DNA being one of the recent examples. As a result, the more foolish their words in “claiming to be wise” appear to be! Marvellous designs – but no designer!! The tragedy is that, having convinced themselves there is no God, the words of Paul which follow are even more true today than ever before. He wrote “and since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice … haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless … “ [v.28-31] There is much more in this chapter including a condemnation of homosexuality; as things that humans do when they have no knowledge or belief in the one and only God. It is becoming clearer that there is no middle road, we either believe or we do not – and if we believe, we must not be half hearted about it.When the Kingdom is established, may our king say to us as Pharaoh said to Joseph, “there is none so discerning and wise as you are.” [Gen. 41 v.39] But for the present we must heed Paul's warning in Romans, “Never be wise in your own sight.” [12 v.16]
I have to say that I can pick ém. My love of Bordeaux and the volume of Bordeaux I have tasted has lead me to Chateau Haut Bailly. Under the tootlidge of Veronique Sanders-Van Beek, the winery continues to make great strides not only in quality, but developing the experience of wine. You see, wine it not just a beverage, it has a soul, a connection, an expression of its place and of it's time. I have been fortunate enough to consider Veronique a friend and I look for opportunities to tell the story of the Chateau. Here I speak with Cyprien Chamanhet, Marketing Director of the Chateau. I have to tell you, having Cyprien Champanhet from Chateau Haut-Bailly in the studio was a real treat and just the sort of conversation that reminds me why I love hosting Wine Talks. We sat down in Southern California on a January day, and from the get-go, Cyprien brought an honest and unpretentious energy to the discussion—he cuts straight to the point. "Do you like the wine?" he asked, and it was refreshing to hear someone in the trade boil things down to pleasure and emotion, not just technical complexity. Even with fine wines, the fundamental goal is enjoyment. That's a sentiment I think too often gets lost in the shuffle in our industry, which can sometimes take itself a bit too seriously. We quickly dove into the DNA of Chateau Haut-Bailly. Cyprien is both Sales Director and Marketing Communications Director, but more than wearing official hats, he embodies what makes the estate special—the constant drive to improve, to question, and to never stand still. It's not that they have some rigid, well-documented strategy; it's woven into their identity. Every decision they make at the château pivots on the question: will this improve the wine, the hospitality, or the relationships with their partners? That's where the magic really happens, not just in boardrooms, but passing in the vineyards, talking among the team, and always with the Wilmers family, their deeply involved owners. Speaking of the Wilmers, Cyprien talked about Chris Wilmers, their chairman, and professor of ecology at UC Santa Cruz. Now, there's a boardroom influence that definitely filters down into the vines—and you see it in their approach to sustainability. It's much more than lip service. The château doesn't use weed killers or insect killers, maintains century-old vines, and considers not just organic or biodynamic approaches, but a kind of "third way" that balances environmental impact, carbon footprint, and even workers' and neighbors' health. I love seeing how that academic, ecological mindset brings practical, tangible benefits to the vineyard. It's a beautiful fusion of tradition and progress. We did some deep thinking around terroir—that mysterious, oft-referenced concept that supposedly starts and ends in soil. But as I prodded Cyprien, he agreed terroir extends into philosophy, history, and—yes—the boardroom. The energy and ethos of a place, its leadership, and the team all seep into the bottle. That's why I've never bought the idea of "bad vintages" at places like Haut-Bailly. As long as what's in the bottle is an honest expression of what nature and experience handed you that year, it brings emotion and memory—like a great piece of music with recurring themes and intriguing variations. One of my favorite moments came when Cyprien talked about how the industry tries to please the consumer—with supermarket formula wines versus character-driven bottles. He wasn't going to pander; at Haut-Bailly, the style is distinctive, loyal to its roots, and never sacrificed for fast trends. The real reward is in education and curiosity—getting people excited about differences in vintage, terroir, and story. And as we swapped stories about wine tourism, he lit up describing the new tasting room and the personal touch they offer visitors. Every guest becomes an ambassador, every experience becomes a memory, and suddenly, the conversation around the table at home is about what happened at the château, not just what's in the glass. I have to say, trading observations and anecdotes with Cyprien made me optimistic. We're in an industry built on pleasure, memory, and shared stories. And if you ask me, keeping it honest and humble—like Haut-Bailly does—will always be the real cutting edge. The last known phone call between Keith and Paul Caneiro was played for jurors in Monmouth County Superior Court—and it reveals a man at the end of his patience. "I need it—I need it. Give me the f***ing login, Paul!" Keith demanded, giving his brother until 8 p.m. to provide access to a trust account. By the next afternoon, Keith Caneiro, 50, was dead on the front lawn of his Colts Neck mansion with five gunshot wounds. Inside, his wife Jennifer, 45, and their children—11-year-old Jesse and 8-year-old Sophia—were found stabbed and burned. Paul Caneiro, 58, is on trial for four counts of first-degree murder. Prosecutors say greed drove Paul to slaughter his brother's family after Keith discovered he was stealing from their shared businesses. Testimony from a financial crimes detective revealed multiple transfers from Keith's trust account into Paul's personal account with no repayment. Hours before the Colts Neck fire was reported, Paul allegedly set fire to his own Ocean Township home while his wife and daughters slept inside. Evidence includes bloody clothing with DNA matching the child victims and a gun matched to the murder weapon. Paul's defense attorney claims investigators ignored a third brother. Genetics provide the context most training and nutrition plans are missing. In this episode, I sit down with Justin Harris to explain why starting with genetics removes so much of the guesswork. The body has a built-in hardware that shapes how your body responds to food, training, stress, and supplements long before habits come into play. Once you understand that framework, your decisions stop feeling random. We walk through real examples, including why some people struggle with caffeine, vitamin D, high-fat diets, or recovery even when they are doing the right things. These patterns are not random, and they are rarely about effort. We also cover when genetic testing actually makes sense and why it works best once the basics are already in place. If you want fewer guesses and better decisions around training, nutrition, and long-term health, this episode is for you. Snowboards and Guitars: Circle Strings x Burton at NAMM 2026Some collaborations make you stop and ask how nobody thought of this before. At NAMM Media Day 2026, Sean Martin caught up with Adam Buchwald and William Hylton from Circle Strings, a Vermont-based guitar company, to talk about their partnership with Burton. The concept is deceptively simple: matching snowboards and custom guitars built from the same materials. But the execution is anything but simple.Buchwald owns a wood company in Vermont. He had an entire tree of figured mahogany set aside, waiting for the right project. When Burton agreed to collaborate, he knew exactly what to do with it. The wood became the centerpiece—the visual and sonic foundation of everything that followed. Then William Hylton got to work.Hylton, Circle Strings' designer and CNC specialist, is a backcountry snowboarder. He chose Burton's Alakazam powder board shape as his starting point, drawn to its distinctive tail curve. That curve, he realized, was already guitar-esque. So he wove it through the entire instrument—the fingerboard extension, the pickguard, the bridge tips. The snowboard's DNA lives in every contour. But here's where it gets interesting. The core of a Burton snowboard is wood. Lightweight, durable, designed for performance. Hylton took that same core material and built a guitar body from it. The result feels right in your hands—balanced, resonant, purposeful. It's not a gimmick. It's a genuine instrument built from materials engineered to perform. The acoustic model features a sound hole that mirrors the snowboard's design. Inlays are crafted from Burton's core material, tying everything together visually and conceptually. Both guitars showcase snowflake inlays inspired by Snowflake Bentley, the Vermont photographer who first captured snowflakes in their true crystalline form over a century ago. It's a detail that says everything about how Circle Strings approaches their work. History. Craft. Place.Vermont runs through this collaboration. Buchwald and Hylton are snowboarders. They source their wood locally. They build instruments that reflect where they come from. Burton, also rooted in Vermont's snow culture, was a natural partner. The Burton team, according to Hylton, is thrilled. Many of them are musicians. Some are fans of the artists Circle Strings builds for. The connection was already there—this project just made it tangible. What strikes me about this collaboration is the underlying philosophy. Snowboards and guitars aren't that different when you strip them down. Both are built from wood. Both demand precision. Both exist to help someone express themselves—whether carving powder or carving a melody.Circle Strings and Burton understand this. They didn't force a partnership. They found the common thread and followed it.The result is a set of instruments that belong in a museum and on a stage. Objects that tell a story about craft, place, and the people who refuse to separate their passions.Snowboards and guitars. Same wood. Same craft. Different ride.Sean Martin reports from NAMM 2026 for ITSPmagazine.__________________________This is a Brand Highlight. Week two of Paul Caneiro's murder trial has brought damning financial testimony and a defense theory that points at someone else entirely. A detective specializing in financial crimes testified about bank records showing transfers from Keith Caneiro's trust account into Paul's personal account—with no payments going back. Prosecutors say the theft totaled at least $75,000, and that Keith was preparing to cut Paul off from their shared businesses and his $225,000 salary. The night before the murders, Keith forwarded a company email stating Paul would no longer be paid. Paul Caneiro, 58, is charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the November 2018 deaths of his brother Keith, sister-in-law Jennifer, and their two children, 11-year-old Jesse and 8-year-old Sophia, at the family's Colts Neck mansion. Prosecutors say Paul shot Keith, stabbed the rest of the family, then set the house on fire. Evidence includes blood-stained clothing found at Paul's home with DNA matching his slain relatives, and a gun linked ballistically to the bullets that killed Keith. But defense attorney Monika Mastellone says investigators never looked at a third Caneiro brother, Cory, who also stood to benefit from the family's life insurance policy. Paul has maintained his innocence for more than seven years while awaiting trial.#PaulCaneiro #CaneirioTrial #ColtsNeckMansion #KeithCaneiro #JenniferCaneiro #MansionMurders #MonmouthCounty #FamilyAnnihilation #TrueCrimeLive #HiddenKillersLiveJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? As tech companies attempt to deploy artificial intelligence into every possible facet of life–from education, to scheduling your calendar, to responding to emails, answering random questions, decoding DNA and even psycho therapy–we really have no idea how mass adoption of LLMs for basically every task will affect society at large. It's sort of like we're running a giant experiment on humanity with no control group and just the hope that immeasurably wealthy tech companies will steward in a brighter future. But we all know that cracks have been showing up in the AI facade. And one of those cracks is what psychologist have begun to term “AI Psychosis” – which is ….well…let's leave that for the guests on the show today. Ragy Girgis and Amandeep Jutla are two professors of clinical psychiatry at Columbia university on the forefront of the discussion on how AI models are driving some of us….mad.Get Early Access on Substackhttps://sgcarney.substack.com/
Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Ashley M. Fox. Summary of the Interview In this episode of Money Making Conversations Masterclass, Rushion McDonald interviews Ashley M. Fox—former Wall Street analyst, Howard University alum, financial educator, and founder/CEO of Amplify, a fintech platform focused on making wealth‑building accessible to everyday people. Ashley shares her journey from working with ultra‑high‑net‑worth clients on Wall Street to becoming an entrepreneur determined to bring financial education and empowerment to communities traditionally excluded from wealth conversations. She discusses the creation of Amplify, her financial fall and recovery, her work in schools and prison systems, and how digital content has allowed her to scale her mission globally. The discussion emphasizes mindset, self‑belief, access, and a practical path to wealth, even starting with as little as $20. Purpose of the Interview The interview aims to: 1. Inspire financial empowerment Ashley explains how anyone—regardless of background or starting point—can begin building wealth and shift generational outcomes. 2. Demystify investing and wealth-building She breaks down how simple investing can be, the power of small consistent contributions, and how wealth isn’t limited to entrepreneurs or high earners. 3. Highlight her fintech platform Amplify She shares how Amplify democratizes financial education through online tools, community, and accessible investing classes. 4. Encourage a mindset shift Ashley stresses the importance of eliminating fear, building confidence, and using logic instead of emotion when making financial decisions. Key Takeaways 1. Wealth Begins with Belief and Mindset Ashley learned on Wall Street that the biggest difference between wealthy and non-wealthy people is not education—it's self-belief. Many people don’t believe wealth is possible for them because they've never seen it. 2. You Don’t Need a Lot of Money to Start Investing She urges people to start with $20, even buying fractional shares. It’s consistency—not starting amount—that builds wealth. 3. You Can Invest in Others’ Ideas—Not Just Your Own Building wealth doesn’t require launching a business. Buying stock is one of the easiest ways to participate in wealth creation. 4. Ashley’s Own Journey Included Failure After leaving Wall Street, she was evicted, slept on her parents’ couch for two years, and maxed out credit cards. Her purpose kept her going. 5. Financial Education Should Start Early She developed financial education programs for schools, prison systems, and everyday families because adults often learn too late. 6. Amplify Scales Wealth Education Her platform offers 300+ hours of videos and tools, helping members open 3,000+ investment accounts and invest $7.4M collectively. 7. Social Media Is Her Biggest Access Point Ashley reaches millions by being authentic, relatable, and consistent—meeting people where they are. 8. You Must Pay Yourself First Most people pay bills, companies, and creditors before investing in themselves. She emphasizes reversing that pattern. 9. Logic Over Emotion Wealth requires logical decision‑making, especially in the market. Emotional reactions undermine long-term financial growth. Notable Quotes (Taken From the Transcript) On Wealth Mindset “When you think and know and believe you have the power to create wealth and you deserve wealth, you move a different way.” “There is no president that can build the wealth that you can create for your family.” On Starting Small “You don't have to have a lot of money to start. You just have to have the will to begin.” “A whole lot of $20 can get you to a million—as long as you don’t stop.” On Investing “Consider the companies you give your money to and own them, because they are a lot cheaper than you think.” “If I’m helping you build a billion‑dollar business by using your products, I deserve a piece of the pie.” On Self-Reliance “You pay everybody… the bartender, the mortgage company—and you’re the one without money. Who’s going to worry about you?” On Purpose and Identity “My story never changed. The mission was always dedicated to the people I didn’t see coming into that building on Wall Street.” “Amplify is the movement. It just has my DNA.” #SHMS #STRAW #BESTSupport the show: https://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

David Roberts and Dr. John Gilday spent years developing Mara Labs after David's wife Mara was diagnosed with breast cancer and they discovered the compound that could help her, sulforaphane from broccoli, didn't exist in stable, absorbable form anywhere. They grew broccoli sprouts for ten families while Dr. Gilday obsessed over stabilizing the molecule. When he finally cracked it, Mara pushed them to share it with the world before she passed away. This episode reveals why most broccoli supplements are essentially worthless, how microplastics are jamming up your cellular detox systems, and why estrogen itself isn't the enemy, but its metabolism might be. You'll learn why berberine outperformed Valium as a sleep aid in studies, how eating late with low insulin production leaves glucose sitting in your blood all night, and why Ozempic's weight loss can be up to 40% muscle. Discover: • The broccoli supplement truth: why 95% of products contain only the precursor molecule that your stomach acid destroys before it can work • The microplastics mechanism: how plastic particles fill up your cellular "drains," blocking the lysosome from clearing waste and creating hormonal noise • The estrogen metabolism shift: why estrogen is protective until it converts to quinones that can make DNA breaks in your genome • The sulforaphane detox pathway: how one compound turns on Nrf2 to activate every cell's built-in detoxification system • The berberine absorption problem: why standard berberine is nearly impossible to dissolve and ends up disrupting your gut microbiome instead of entering your bloodstream • The GLP-1 difference: why natural berberine-induced satiety works without slowing gut motility the way Ozempic does Find Dr. John Gilday & David Roberts: Website: https://mara-labs.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/themaralabs Timestamps: 0:00 - Why most hormonal supplements don't work 1:46 - Hot Seat: Biggest detox mistakes and the NRF2 master switch 3:20 - Is berberine nature's Ozempic? 7:18 - Claire's one-month transformation with sulforaphane 9:21 - How Mara Labs was born from a breast cancer diagnosis 17:00 - Microplastics: the forest fire in your body 24:18 - The estrogen truth: it's not the enemy, the metabolism is 35:04 - Why your matcha works better with sulforaphane 39:17 - Berberine, Ozempic, and fasting in a pill 52:12 - The 40% muscle loss problem with Ozempic (and how to prevent it)
In the aftermath of the murder of Pam Kinamore, a task force is formed in Baton Rouge to hunt down a killer, when Trineisha Dené Colomb, a 23-year-old aspiring Marine was abducted near a cemetery in Lafayette, Louisiana and found beaten to death just days later. Trineisha's case would mark a turning point in the hunt for the a serial killer as DNA evidence linked her murder to a string of other victims. Derrick Todd Lee (DTL) terrorized the Baton Rouge and Lafayette Louisiana. A Serial Killer who took the lives of at least (7) women in the late 1990's and early 2000's, Lee's reign of terror finally ended in late May of 2003 when he was captured in Atlanta, GA after being linked by DNA to several of the murders. This is DTL Hosted by Kelly Jennings and produced by the experts at Envision Podcast Productions.#DTL #podcast #DerrickToddLee #BatonRouge #SerialKiller #unspeakable #Serial #denecolomb #taskforce Timestamps02:07 The DNA Breakthrough04:31 Formation of the Task Force06:45 The Life of Trineisha Dené Colomb11:29 Struggle with Grief13:06 The Day Dené Disappeared16:13 The Discovery of a Body23:10 A Shocking ConnectionFor Media or Advertising Inquiries Envisionpodcaststudios@gmail.com
Read OnlineThe mother of Jesus and his brothers arrived at the house. Standing outside, they sent word to Jesus and called him. A crowd seated around him told him, “Your mother and your brothers and your sisters are outside asking for you.” Mark 3:31–32In Jesus' time, family bloodlines were of great importance. They determined one's identity as part of the chosen people of Israel, the descendants of Abraham. Being part of God's covenantal family was understood primarily in terms of physical ancestry. Bloodlines also played a crucial role in determining rights to land ownership, which was tied to one's family lineage. This connection between lineage and land had important theological significance, as the Promised Land was a visible sign of God's covenant with Israel. The lineage of two of the Twelve Tribes of Israel held particular significance. Members of the Tribe of Levi were uniquely chosen to serve as priests in the Temple. Additionally, the Messiah was prophesied to descend from the Tribe of Judah, specifically from the line of King David. This gave David's lineage an elevated status. This significance is reflected in Matthew's and Luke's genealogies, which establishes Jesus' legal and spiritual claim as the promised Messiah. It is for these reasons that Jesus' words in today's Gospel surprised many. When Jesus' mother and his brothers—meaning His cousins or other extended family—arrived at the house where He was teaching, they wanted to see Him. First, it should be noted that in Jewish culture, there was no specific word for “cousins” or “extended family,” so the terms “brothers” and “sisters” were used more broadly. Naturally, those present might have expected Him to go out immediately to see them in deference to His familial ties. Yet He takes that opportunity to offer a new teaching when He asks the crowd, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” Answering His own question, He pointed to those around Him, saying, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother” (Mark 3:34–35).Jesus was in no way diminishing the value of His blood relatives. In fact, the bond He shared with His mother went far deeper than DNA. Instead, He used the opportunity to expand the people's natural familial bonds to include all those who were united spiritually. He taught that kinship in God's family is not based on physical descent but on obedience to His will. This redefinition transformed their understanding of what it means to belong to God's people, opening the door to new bonds of unity based in faith and grace.Today, families remain the most important foundation of life. “The family is, so to speak, the domestic church” (Lumen Gentium, 11). The family is chosen by God as the primary community from which love, virtue, and faith are born, making them a community of love, participating in the unity of the Trinity. However, natural family bonds are now expanded by the supernatural bonds we share through the Blood of Christ, which unites all of us more deeply. Ideally, those supernatural bonds are first experienced within natural families, but even when they are not, the supernatural bonds we share through Christ's Blood create a spiritual family that transcends earthly relationships. As Christians, we are called to extend this familial love beyond our households, embracing all who do the will of God as brothers and sisters in faith.Reflect today on the blessings and challenges you have within your own family. What is of paramount importance is that, within those natural bonds, we strive to move deeper, forging spiritual bonds that are eternal. Reflect also on your wider Christian community. Do you strive to build bonds of faith and charity with others? As you ponder Jesus' words today, look at your natural family and beyond, giving thanks for those who do the will of God, and work to foster deep relationships grounded in the new Bloodline of Christ's grace. Most Holy Trinity, You are the source of perfect harmony and unity, sharing a love that is beyond all understanding. Draw me, and all people, into that unity of love. Bless my natural family on earth and unite us ever more deeply through Your grace. Bless also my spiritual family, my brothers and sisters in faith, united by the bonds we share in fulfilling Your holy will. Jesus, I trust in You.
