Your family helped a 62-year-old convict who was "wrongfully convicted" of the statutory rape of his stepdaughter get back on his feet -- until he went off and eloped with your 23-year-old sister. Now that conviction seems like it might not have been so wrongful after all, and you're wondering how you can protect your sister if he's just been on the hunt for another victim. We'll try to help find answers to this and more here on Feedback Friday! And in case you didn't already know it, Jordan Harbinger (@JordanHarbinger) and Gabriel Mizrahi (@GabeMizrahi) banter and take your comments and questions for Feedback Friday right here every week! If you want us to answer your question, register your feedback, or tell your story on one of our upcoming weekly Feedback Friday episodes, drop us a line at friday@jordanharbinger.com. Now let's dive in! Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/562 On This Week's Feedback Friday, We Discuss: Why did our advice to the job negotiator in episode 553 seem counter to our usual stance on negotiation? How can you make sure your 23-year-old sister is safe now that she's eloped with a 62-year-old ex-con? You're vaccinated and set to be the maid of honor at a wedding, but you're uneasy because the groom's family doesn't even believe in COVID -- and will be taking zero precautions to protect themselves and others (in spite of the recent surge in delta variant deaths). How do you express your concerns to the bride-to-be without losing your lifelong friend? You're a busy stay-at-home mom and newly full-time student trying to stay focused, but your husband has gotten in the habit of calling you from work -- sometimes for an hour at a time. Is there a nice way to convey that when he's working, you're working, too, and he should reserve these calls for emergencies? Your teen daughter suffered a brain injury that has left her with daily headaches, nausea, dizziness, and head fog. Now she's under pressure to apply to colleges, but she's angry and behaving like a victim instead of doing the necessary work to regain her cognitive performance. How can you help her make progress instead of enabling her inaction? You're eager to start your own business as a wedding coordinator after hiring one for your own wedding and realizing your company vastly underpays you. Is there a protocol for asking this person for advice even though they would technically be your competition? Have any questions, comments, or stories you'd like to share with us? When I first started my career as a speech-language pathologist, I never thought I would own a business. I honestly used to think that business was boring… I only ever wanted to help people, and I didn't think that becoming a business owner was the way to do that. You might think the same thing! Even if your instinct is to think that business is boring and you see yourself primarily as a helping people person, this episode offers some really valuable lessons. In the episode, I am sharing three lessons from business leaders that helped me become the successful business owner that I am today. I share quotes from Franklin Covey, Marie Forleo, and Zig Ziglar, and how they relate to owning a private practice. In Today's Episode, We Discuss: Why you should think about your final vision first The mindset you need to adopt when you feel stuck How to have everything you want in life Why you need to stop putting yourself last Remember, if you put your clients and yourself first, you can all have what you want. I encourage you to grab a post-it note, write down these three lessons and decide how you're going to put them into practice. Your best friend speaks glowingly about her fiancé, but she lives far away and your recent communications have only taken place by text and telephone. The thing is, this fiancé seems to be ever-present and listening in the background whenever she's in contact, and she let it slip that he's fantasized about seeing her lick from a dog's dish. You're worried he might be controlling every aspect of her life, but she doesn't seem to be distressed. Could what you perceive to be tyrannical oversight just be part of a consensual power dynamic they've established in their relationship? We'll try to find answers to this and more here on Feedback Friday! [Thanks to Scott Galloway for this one!] Is your best friend really being controlled by a domineering fiancé, or is this just a consensually kinky aspect of their relationship? Your ex-husband swapped out libido-killing medication (that treated his anxiety and depression, but contributed to your divorce) for cannabis and junk food. This seems to leave him with a loss of appetite, but how can you find reliable information to confirm what's really going on and help him out of his funk? Should you file an ethics complaint against your neighbor who's trying to sabotage your home sale -- after refusing your initial, generous offer to sell to them first? [Once again, thanks to Corbin Payne for helping us with this one!] How do you know when it's time to stop negotiating and accept the terms of a job offer without feeling like you've left some unknown variable on the table? You now make even more money in 10 hours or less per week than you did in 70 hours working for someone else. Today we discuss how to free yourself from the personal prisons that are disempowering you.   Freedom - we all want it, right? In fact, we live in a nation that prides itself on being free. But are you really free, or are you a prisoner of your own thoughts, fears, and doubts? The mind is either the cause of our bondage or the cause of our liberation. So, if you're thinking in ways that are disempowering to you, then you're actually releasing chemicals in your body that are supporting those thoughts time and time again. The good news is, you have control over your thoughts, and by acknowledging them you can learn to shift your focus and remove yourself from any kind of a prison that you’ve put yourself in. My first guest, Lee McCormick, has been a creative force in the Mental Health and Recovery scene for over 20 years. He joins me today to discuss taking responsibility for how we respond to our thoughts and why identifying ourselves by our thoughts can create conflict in our lives. Lee also shares the distinct differences of living from a role-centered life versus a soul-centered life. My second guest, Geneen Roth, is the author of ten books, including the just-released This Messy Magnificent Life and New York Times bestsellers When Food Is Love, Lost and Found, and Women Food and God. She joins me today to discuss the relationship we have with ourselves and how we can disengage the voice of our inner critic that tends to hold us back from happiness and success.   We Discuss: Why many people live with a sense of false pride that keeps them stuck and full of regret in life How we can get ourselves out of the personal prisons we've subconsciously put ourselves in The impact that disempowering thoughts have on our lives and how we can shift them Why we search for our identity in labels and how they can change our perception of reality How identifying ourselves by our thoughts can create conflict and suffering in our lives Taking responsibility for how we respond to our thoughts rather than allowing them to control us The major differences between living from a role-centered life as opposed to a soul-centered life   Visit:  VoicesofCourage.us

Today we discuss the courage to connect with your higher self, increase consciousness, and expand inner wisdom.   In order for us to grow, we have to think outside of the box and take a step back from our small thinking. If you think about it, our “greatest” thinking has got us right where we are today, and it will keep us stuck unless we blow past our limitations. Part of this journey includes connecting with our higher self, which represents unlimited possibilities and helps us see reality clearly. So many of us are playing so small and really not mastering, or even attempting to master, the gifts that we’ve been given. We’re staying within our comfort zones. So much is out there for us, but we have to be able to open our minds and open our hearts if we want to change. Are you willing to change today? Are you willing to grow and take your life to a completely new level? My guest, Laurie Reyon Anderson, is an internationally known Animal Communicator and teacher. She joins me today to talk about a near-death experience that ultimately changed her life. Subsequent to the accident, Laurie has developed her gift, which allows her to speak to the animals and the Angels and translate their messages to humanity. You’d think it would be easy, right? We arrive happy, joyous, and free, but then too often our parents, teachers, religious leaders, friends, and other members of our family condition us into becoming something that we hardly recognize or even like anymore. All of these people have an impact on how you think and how you act out there in the world. So what’s happening here, and is there a way out? Is there a way to get back to how we were when we first arrived, before the rest of the world told us how to act and who to be?
