In this episode of the Women's Sanctuary podcast, host Arlia Hoffman had an in-depth conversation with Patty Farinola of the Awareness Studio about her unique, holistic approach to counseling and therapy, which integrates psychology and spirituality. Patty shared insights into her program 'Serenity, Power, and Freedom,' her journey from corporate marketing to spiritual counseling, and the importance of addressing common relationship themes such as entering relationships for the wrong reasons, feeling 'not good enough,' and the necessity for professional guidance. Patty also discussed her use of the Tree of Life astrology in her counseling practice and its alignment with aspects of the Enneagram, providing a comprehensive perspective on clients' consciousness and life lessons. She offered tips for improving relationships and the relevance of holistic healing practices for achieving spiritual and emotional well-being. About Patty: You have probably heard the saying, “The quality of your life is directly related to the quality of your relationships.” Whether at work or at home, in business or in love, relationships can be both profoundly fulfilling and extremely challenging. The difference between the two depends on your ability to communicate graciously and effectively, reduce emotional reactivity, and increase trust and appreciation. Patty helps people turn relationship pain into power and purpose by identifying old, unproductive habits and replacing them with new, soul-satisfying ones to create, as Brené Brown says, “courage, compassion, and connection.” What makes Patty unique is her holistic approach, which includes counseling and coaching, assessments and astrology, and universal spiritual principles to bring clients to new levels of happiness through better, more successful relationships. For example, Patty has helped single women become happily married, she has counseled married couples to improve communication and connection, and assisted people in addiction recovery in having healthy sober relationships. Patty started her professional career in the corporate world, gaining experience in a variety of fields including sales, marketing, finance, technology, and executive management with industry leading Fortune 100 corporations and privately held firms. She worked for such companies as Coca-Cola, Bank South (now Bank of America), and S1 Corporation (now ACI Worldwide). Her last position was Managing Director of Marketing for Georgia Natural Gas. Patty left corporate to pursue her life's work, which combines individual and couples counseling, and spiritual direction to help people address life's challenges, transitions, goals and events. With a focus on the journey to self-awareness, inner peace, and personal power, her work with clients covers a variety of areas, including addiction and codependence recovery and creating happy and healthy love relationships. She holds a Masters in Sacred Theology (STM). Website About The Women's Sanctuary The Women's Sanctuary was founded in 2014 as a haven for women to be in community. In this episode of Tech Talks Daily, I have a conversation with Cleber Martins, Head of Payments Intelligence & Risk Solutions at ACI Worldwide, about the increasing challenges of fraud prevention as real-time payments become more widespread. With payments now happening instantly, the window for detecting fraud is shrinking, and financial institutions need new methods to stay ahead. Cleber explains how fraudsters are using advanced AI techniques to exploit these fast transactions, employing everything from voice mimicry to sophisticated social engineering attacks that trick consumers into initiating transactions. Cleber also highlights how financial institutions are using AI to fight back. From tracking behavioral biometrics to analyzing patterns in real time, banks are employing cutting-edge AI tools to detect fraud at the very moment it occurs. However, this shift isn't without its challenges. Cleber discusses the difficulties financial institutions face, such as the high costs of implementing AI systems and the need for domain-specific expertise to ensure the technology is applied effectively. We explore how AI is becoming a crucial tool for not only fraud prevention but also improving the services and products banks offer. By sharing AI-generated insights between institutions, Cleber believes real-time payments could become one of the safest payment methods available. He also touches on how AI will transform the workforce, enhancing human skills rather than replacing them, and encouraging a focus on solving business problems rather than mastering specific technologies.
Battle of Ideas festival 2023, Sunday 29 October, Church House, London ORIGINAL INTRODUCTION In August, India made world news by being the first nation to land near the Moon's South Pole. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described it as a historic moment for humanity and ‘the dawn of the new India'. Meanwhile, India's digital transformation of its financial system is reported by payments systems company ACI Worldwide to be operating on a larger scale than even in the US and China. Earlier this year, UN population estimates suggested India has overtaken China as the world's most populous country, with over 1.4 billion people. As America's rivalry with China heats up, the western world has warmed to India. A month before the Moon landing, President Joe Biden had rolled out the red carpet for Modi's state visit to America. The US wants a more meaningful, closer and stronger relationship with India. The German government is discussing a possible submarine deal. French President Emmanuel Macron invited Modi to celebrate Bastille Day, calling India a strategic partner and friend. But there have also been tensions over India's neutral stance over the war in Ukraine. Are these signs of India's arrival on the international top table? Can India rise to this challenge? India has a huge population, but the vast majority are still poor – the country is ranked 139th in the world for nominal GDP per capita – and faces massive inequalities. While India receives much adulation from the Western elites, its undermining of the freedom of the press and its clampdown on the judiciary have been heavily criticised. The Economist Intelligence Unit‘s Democracy Index showed India falling from 27th position in 2014 to 46th in 2022. But the White House is calling India a ‘vibrant democracy'. Which is it: a faltering democracy or a vibrant one? India is also facing much internal disquiet within its population. Most recently, ethnic tensions have flared up between the majority Hindus and the Muslim minority just 20 miles outside of New Delhi. Ethnic strife between Hindus and Christians also continues especially in the North-east state of Manipur. With this backdrop of domestic instability, can Modi and his BJP party retain control in the 2024 elections? What will India's future role be on the world stage – both politically and economically? SPEAKERS Lord Meghnad Desai crossbench peer; chair, Gandhi Statue Memorial Trust; emeritus professor of Economics, LSE Dr Zareer Masani historian, author, journalist, broadcaster Dr Alka Sehgal Cuthbert director, Don't Divide Us; author, What Should Schools Teach? Disciplines, subjects and the pursuit of truth CHAIR Para Mullan former operations director, EY-Seren; fellow, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development

The Office of Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares recently announced that Virginia, along with a coalition of 49 other attorneys general, has reached a million settlement with payment processor ACI Worldwide over a 2021 testing error. The error led to the attempted unauthorized withdrawal of .3 billion mortgage-holders' accounts. The erroneous test took place on April 23, 2021, as ACI was testing the Speedpay platform and mistakenly submitted live Mr. Cooper consumer data into the ACH system. As a result of the error, many consumers were subjected to the attempted withdrawal of multiple mortgage payments from their personal bank accounts. While...Article LinkSupport the show

Blockchain for Retailers: Producing Real Business Benefits When I read about blockchain, I typically come across three use cases: cross-border payments, security issuance and digital currency. There are a lot of use cases for blockchain technology, and the business case for each needs to be developed. A lot of companies exist that have a blockchain solution for a problem that does not exist—essentially a hammer searching for a nail. The use cases outlined have common benefits focused on simplifying existing relationships, reducing fraud and improving the speed of commerce. These benefits result in freed up capital and improved cash flow, as well as stronger relationships with both consumers and suppliers. A retailer cannot do this in isolation. As the saying goes, “it takes a village to raise a child.” In this case, the child is blockchain – young and full of potential. The village is the retail ecosystem: suppliers, consumers and regulatory bodies. Working together, they can harness the potential of blockchain and help it mature into a useful and practical technology, which provides real business benefits. Read the post on ACI Worldwide
My guest this week is ezCater Co-Founder and CEO Stefania Mallett. Stefania has spent over 25 years building and growing technology-enabled companies that solve real business problems. She co-founded and successfully sold InSite Marketing Technology to what is now KANA on NASDAQ, and prior to that led National Logistics Management (a broker for $225M in transportation services) to profitability for the first time in 4 years. As the COO of IntraNet (now ACI Worldwide,) Stefania revamped the firm and vaulted it to #1 in its market, a position it has maintained for 15+ years. What I find remarkable about Stefania is not only the depth of her competence but the breadth of her interests. A self-proclaimed “systems thinker” and engineer, she emerged from a difficult and non-traditional childhood determined to make sense of the world, proceeding through a hugely successful and entrepreneurial career to do exactly that through a series of executive management roles across a dizzying array of industries and company types. Far from the overly-intellectual engineer stereotype, though, she’s managed to remain a warm and insightful person who clearly cares deeply for the people she’s working with the build ezCater, a neat little company which itself has a story worth telling. We’ll spend our second segment doing just that, walking step by step through the unexpected yet highly typical twists and turns that characterized ezCater’s beginning, through the disciplined approach to management that’s created one of Boston’s most successful and thriving marketplace businesses.
