In "Is Organized Tech Destroying the Small Logistics Entrepreneur" Joe Lynch and Nicholas Antoine, Co-Founder, Co-CEO, and Managing Partner of Red Arts Capital, discuss how mid-market logistics companies can leverage emerging automation and strategic "moats" to successfully survive and compete against tech-heavy enterprise giants. About Nick Antoine Nicholas Antoine is the Co-Founder, Co-CEO, and Managing Partner of Red Arts Capital, a private equity firm he co-founded in 2015 - at age 26 - to invest exclusively in supply chain and logistics businesses. A Princeton graduate, Nick began his career as an equity research analyst at Princeton Global Asset Management before joining Ariel Investments in Chicago, where he served as Chief of Staff to the Chairman and CEO of the $17 billion asset manager. At Red Arts, he leads fundraising, research, and investment thesis development, building one of the few Black-founded and -led PE firms in the country and one of the top-performing, ranked #7 on Bloomberg's 2025 Best-Performing U.S. Buyout Funds. Nick is a member of YPO and a board trustee of The Studio Museum in Harlem and WTTW (PBS Chicago). About Red Arts Capital Red Arts Capital is a Chicago-based private equity firm focused exclusively on partnering with North American supply chain and logistics businesses. Founded in 2015 by Nick Antoine and Chad Strader, Red Arts is a 100% Black-owned firm investing across the "supply chain economy" - freight, transportation, warehousing, contract packaging, and related middle-market companies with strong growth potential. In 2023, the firm closed its latest fund oversubscribed at $270M, above its $225M target, backed by institutional LPs including Prudential Financial, the University of Chicago's Office of Investments, and funds managed by Neuberger Berman. Red Arts pairs a sector-focused thesis with a belief that diversity drives performance - women represent roughly half the firm. Key Takeaways: Is Organized Tech Destroying the Small Logistics Entrepreneur In "Is Organized Tech Destroying the Small Logistics Entrepreneur" Joe Lynch and Nicholas Antoine, Co-Founder, Co-CEO, and Managing Partner of Red Arts Capital, discuss how mid-market logistics companies can leverage emerging automation and strategic "moats" to successfully survive and compete against tech-heavy enterprise giants. Firm Profile & Focus: Founded in 2015, Red Arts Capital is a 100% Black-owned, Chicago-based private equity firm that focuses exclusively on North American supply chain, logistics, and middle-market infrastructure businesses. Target Investment Profile: Unlike venture capital firms that hunt for speculative "hockey stick" growth, Red Arts invests $50M to $100M+ into established, profitable middle-market companies (typically family-owned with $100M to $500M in revenue) to provide liquidity and operational scaling. Strong Institutional Backing: Validating their sector-focused thesis, the firm closed its 2023 fund oversubscribed at $270M (surpassing its $225M target) backed by premier LPs like Prudential Financial and the University of Chicago. The Concept of "Organized Tech": Nick defines "organized technology" as a modern third form of power alongside organized people and organized capital. Large enterprise players use their scale and massive resources to deploy tech—and partner with startups for free trials—giving them a distinct, systemic advantage. An Opportunity, Not a Death Sentence: Organized tech is not inherently destroying small logistics entrepreneurs; rather, the risk lies in a lack of adaptability. Because AI and automated tools are becoming rapidly commoditized and affordable, small business survival depends on an entrepreneurial willingness to experiment. Building Defensive "Moats": To avoid competing strictly on commoditized pricing, successful logistics companies must build defensible moats. This includes high-touch customer service, strong cultural values that lower driver turnover, or geographic asset density (like uniquely zoned cross-dock terminals) that competitors cannot easily replicate. Outsized Returns from Small Tech Investments: Technology adoption doesn't require a massive overhaul to significantly impact the bottom line. In one LTL case study, Red Arts introduced a simple automated software tool to capture missed, manual accessorial charges, plugging a major revenue leak and yielding massive profit returns. CannCon and Alpha Warrior bring the Thursday energy with a show that covers elections, fraud, and the deep state infrastructure being dismantled in real time. Tulsi Gabbard's ODNI releases memos showing CIA officers attempted to alter evidence of China's interference in the 2020 election and actively kept the information from Trump and Congress, with 12 to 18 state voter registration databases confirmed accessed. CannCon and Alpha debate whether the Venezuela election fraud narrative is the real story or a CIA scapegoat protecting London-based globalists. The DOJ signals blue state gerrymandering laws are now in its crosshairs, with 10 states having written racial preferences into their own voting rights acts. The FBI wins its fight to keep the Fulton County seized documents, with the judge denying Norm Eisen and Abbe Lowell's motion to quash. The Daily Wire drops a bombshell exposing 288 Medicaid-billing businesses in one Columbus, Ohio building that charged taxpayers a quarter billion dollars, and the FBI simultaneously raids Virginia Senate leader Eloise Lucas, who runs a disability services company out of her political office. Alpha connects the $10 million MacArthur Park fentanyl bust to the dismantling of the deep state's dark money infrastructure in Los Angeles. Plus, Asheville receives $225M for Hurricane Helene recovery and plans to build eight houses.

Armand Wilson, Chief Revenue Officer at Whatnot, joins Phillip and Brian to unpack why live shopping finally took hold in the West. Drawing from Whatnot's recent 2026 State of Live Selling Report, we trace the platform's origin from a niche Funko Pop marketplace to an $8B GMV juggernaut after landing $225 million in Series F funding. Main Street Went Live Key Takeaways: The barrier to entry for live selling is far lower than traditional eCommerce. 80% of Whatnot buyers return the following month, compared with approximately 30% in traditional eCommerce. Live selling lets brands tell their story in ways a static product page never can. Whatnot raised $225M in Series F; the platform did $8B in GMV last year. Live commerce is quietly revitalizing small businesses and local brick-and-mortar. Key Quotes: [00:09:00] "It's clienteling in almost a digital way, blurring the line between parasocial relationship and actual relationship between seller and buyer." — Brian Lange [00:12:00] "It could cost you a hundred thousand dollars to open up a comic bookshop. It costs you $0 to open up a comic bookshop on Whatnot." — Armand Wilson [00:31:45] "It's really hard to tell your story in an authentic way when you're just telling it on a couple of lines of text on a product page." — Armand Wilson [00:41:30] "80% of our customers come back the next month, whereas traditional eCommerce is, on average, maybe 30%." — Armand Wilson In-Show Mentions: Whatnot's State of Live Selling Report Associated Links: Check out Future Commerce on YouTube Check out Future Commerce Plus for exclusive content and save on merch and print Subscribe to Insiders and The Senses to read more about what we are witnessing in the commerce world Listen to our other episodes of Future Commerce Have any questions or comments about the show? Real-estate operator August Biniaz (Co-Founder & CIO, CPI Capital) breaks down how he grew from agent and small developer to closing $225M+ in multifamily assets—plus the boutique advantages that win in today's market: cross-border investor structures, a mid-market acquisition lane ($20–$50M), and ruthless underwriting discipline (rent growth, exit caps, and debt selection). We cover value-add vs BTR, lessons from deals walked away from, and why talent, conservative debt, and 95% occupancy targets matter more than spreadsheets. Highlights The mid-market moat: Why 100–300 doors, < $50M assets in Tampa (FL) and San Antonio (TX) are a sweet spot. LP economics first: Targeting 15–20% average annualized returns and passing the "net-to-investor" test before bidding. Underwriting levers that kill deals: Keeping organic rent growth to ~2.5%–3%, and being conservative on exit cap rates. Debt is destiny: Why fixed, interest-only 5-year debt reduces "debt distress" risk. Boutique advantage: Direct access to principals, tight asset management, investor dinners, and hands-on ops. Cross-border structure: How Canadian LPs invest into U.S. deals while avoiding double taxation and using registered retirement funds (via MFT). Lessons learned: "Best deals are often the ones you walk away from," plus "hire slow, fire fast. Enjoyed this? It has now been about a year since Bayer suddenly shut down Care/of…the personalized nutrition brand it acquired in 2020. So, with hindsight providing us 20/20 vision…what can the supplement industry learn about this intense “rise and fall” business story? And you might be thinking, "aren't we too late to learn from the Care/of vitamins business story?" Though, anyone even remotely paying close attention to either the enormous shift in supplement industry marketplace dynamics, the complex (and ever-changing) world of personalized nutrition, and/or the ongoing turnaround efforts at one of the largest players in pharmaceuticals, consumer health, and crop science…knows patience was required to create decisive confident statements about this specific business event. So, my latest first principles thinking content will explore what really happened at Care/of and examine if it has broader implications to what was dubbed by many insider experts and (and mainstream news) sources as the “future of wellness.” Did the Bayer “billion-dollar consumer health brand or bust” mentality cause it? Was it an internal Care/of strategic failures? Or has personalized nutrition been overhyped and will never provide substantial long-term market attractiveness?

US circulates revised Gaza truce draft at UN but Israel objects https://www.trtworld.com/middle-east/live-blog-us-circulates-revised-gaza-truce-draft-at-un-but-israel-objects-18170639 The United States has circulated the revised draft of a UN Security Council resolution aimed at bringing about a ceasefire in Gaza, but Israel privately objected to its close ally's latest attempt to stop the genocidal war. The draft says the Security Council “welcomes the new ceasefire proposal announced on May 31, which is acceptable to Israel ... (and) calls upon Hamas to also accept it.” But an Israeli official said that the language overlooks Israel's stated aim of destroying Hamas. *) Sodomised to death: Stories of torture at Israel's Sde Teiman base emerge https://www.trtworld.com/middle-east/sodomised-to-death-stories-of-torture-at-israels-sde-teiman-base-emerge-18170660 A three-month investigation by The New York Times has unearthed severe torture and egregious human rights violations at an Israeli military base in Sde Teiman, southern Israel. Since the onset of Israel's genocidal war in Gaza, a chilling pattern of grotesque abuse has emerged within Sde Teiman's walls. Detainees, shackled by horror, have borne witness to unspeakable acts: sodomised with metal rods, jolted with electricity, and subjected to merciless beatings with batons, rifle butts, and handheld metal detectors. *) Outrage grows as RSF is blamed for killing 100+ in Sudan's Gezira https://www.trtworld.com/africa/outrage-grows-as-rsf-is-blamed-for-killing-100-in-sudans-gezira-18170661 Sudanese and international organisations and institutions have condemned the killing of over 100 civilians in the village of Wad al Noora in Sudan's Gezira state allegedly by paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. They are calling for an immediate investigation and accountability for those responsible. The Madani Resistance Committee, a local pro-democracy activists group, put the toll at “more than 104.” *) Ukraine to get $225M worth US weapons that Kiev can use inside Russia https://www.trtworld.com/us-and-canada/ukraine-to-get-dollar225m-worth-us-weapons-that-kiev-can-use-inside-russia-18170649 US officials said Washington will send about $225 million in military package to Ukraine. The officials said the aid includes munitions for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, or HIMARS, as well as mortar systems and an array of artillery rounds. Under a new US directive, Ukraine can use such weapons to strike across the border into Russia if Russian forces there are attacking or preparing to attack. And finally… *) Survey: 21% Germans prefer ‘more players with white skin' in national team https://www.trtworld.com/discrimination/survey-21-germans-prefer-more-players-with-white-skin-in-national-team-18170245 A new survey on German football and racism has sparked an intense debate in the country ahead of the Euro 2024 Championship. In a representative poll by public broadcaster ARD, 21% of Germans said they prefer to see more players with white skin in the national football team. Nearly 17% said they regret that the national team's current captain is a player with Turkish roots. Ronny Blaschke, a renowned expert on German football, said the outcome of the survey was not surprising, as racism in football has long been a serious problem, and was further exacerbated by the rise of the anti-immigrant far-right AfD party.
