Sermon OutlineBig Idea: We naturally hunger for more than mere existence. Jesus declares that He alone is the Bread of Life who satisfies our deepest hunger and gives eternal, abundant life.Key Verse: “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” — John 6:35I. We Hunger for More Than Mere ExistenceCentral question: Where can that life be found?II. Bread Meant LifeTo understand John 6, we need to appreciate the significance of bread in the ancient world.Bread represented:Sustenance — wheat and barley bread were staples of everyday life.Provision — “bread” could represent food and physical necessities generally.Fellowship — breaking bread communicated hospitality, acceptance, friendship, and peace.Sacred memory — Passover bread recalled the Exodus; manna recalled God's provision in the wilderness.Throughout Scripture, therefore, bread points beyond itself to God as the One who provides life for His people. This background makes Jesus' declaration extraordinarily powerful: “I am the bread of life.”Jesus does not merely give the bread we ultimately need. Jesus is the Bread.III. The Crowd Wanted the Bread but Missed the SaviorJohn 6:25–29IV. Jesus Is Greater Than MosesJohn 6:30–34V. Jesus Is the Bread of LifeJohn 6:35VI. Zoe Does Not Mean an Easy LifeJesus' promise of abundant life does not mean:our problems disappear, suffering ends, life becomes easy,Christians never experience sorrow.Jesus Himself says:“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33Sermon ApplicationThere are two responses to Jesus' words. For those who do not yet follow Christ:Do not make the mistake of the Galilean crowd—wanting what Jesus can provide while missing Jesus Himself. The Bread of Life is offered freely. Come to Christ, trust Him, repent, and receive the life only He can give. For followers of Christ:We can belong to Jesus while still clinging tightly to areas of our lives we refuse to surrender. Yet we cannot experience the fullness of life in Christ while deliberately withholding parts of ourselves from Him.The question becomes: What am I still trying to control that Christ is asking me to surrender?Sermon QuestionsWhat do you think people today most commonly pursue in an attempt to experience a meaningful and fulfilling life? How does Jesus' promise of zoe differ? Why is the cultural and biblical significance of bread important for understanding Jesus' statement, “I am the bread of life”?The crowd wanted what Jesus could give them without recognizing who He was. In what ways are we tempted to do the same thing today? What is the significance of Jesus contrasting the manna given in Moses' day with Himself as the “true bread from heaven”? What does this reveal about Jesus' identity?Jesus promises abundant life but does not promise an easy life. What area of your life might Christ be asking you to trust Him with or surrender more completely to Him?Resources ConsultedCarson, D. A., R. T. France, J. A. Motyer, and G. J. Wenham, eds. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
We're back with the Taylor Frankie Paul daram on Never A Truer Word.In 2023 Taylor Frankie Paul was arrested for domestic violence following an incident with Dakota Mortensen. Body cam footage from that night captures both of them giving their account to police. Jack Fox applies Statement Investigation to what they each said.Taylor Frankie Paul admits to violence. She tells a two person story. Even under the influence, her account is remarkably consistent and includes both her own actions and his. She is not minimised here. The violence was real. But it is Dakota Mortensen's words to police that build the more revealing picture. His own actions disappear from his account. His language around Taylor shifts from control to care in the same breath. He works to get the officer on his side. And when he is told not to lie before giving his written statement, something changes.Jack examines the language of both and lets the words make the case. This episode sits alongside the original Taylor Frankie Paul Bachelorette drama analysis and the chair throwing video. The Bachelorette has since been cancelled. Taylor Frankie Paul is looking unlikely to return to Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The story of this arrest helps explain why.Jack examines the language on its own terms. And the language raises serious questions about who was really in control that night.Want more from Never A Truer Word? Frank E. Flowers joins Nerdtropolis Mayor Sean Tajipour on Reel Insights to talk all things THE BLUFF, a hard-R pirate thriller that flips the genre into a raw, intense home-invasion survival story set in the Caribbean.Frank breaks down why pirate movies don't hit like they used to — and why this one had to feel grounded, dangerous, and real. He also dives into casting Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden, and why she was the one person he could see carrying a brutal, physical fight for family and survival.Plus, Frank talks Karl Urban's “Captain Connor” swagger and how Karl's deep research and nuance keep the charisma dangerous instead of cartoonish. Ruby Franke was arrested. The performance ended. But for her six children — raised as content for years — the work was just beginning.Part 5 of "The Good Mother" examines what comes after escape. The psychology of recovery. Who are you when the show is finally over?Shari Franke posted "Finally" when her mother was arrested. She wrote a memoir, testified before Utah legislators, advocates for child influencer protections. She's building a life on her own terms.Chad Franke reads his 2023 diaries on TikTok — entries written while under Jodi's influence, trying to be "pure enough." He calls it being "brainwashed." His mother writes letters from prison. He doesn't respond."I don't think I'm interested in talking right now."Kevin Franke divorced Ruby in March 2025. He says he still loves her — but is "as angry as can be." He blocked any communication from Ruby to him or the children. The four minor children — including Russell and Eve, who were found bound and starving — heal in private. Faces blurred in documentaries. Names redacted. For the first time, they are not content.Recovery after narcissistic family abuse isn't a straight line. Getting out is just the beginning. The work is figuring out which thoughts are really yours. Learning whether you can love someone who harmed you. Building an identity that isn't defined by what happened.Ruby sits in prison, serving four to thirty years. First parole hearing: December 2026.Her children are still here. Still growing. Still figuring out who they are now that the cameras are off. That's the work. Not survival — they already did that. In June 2020, CPS visited the Franke home after another report about 8 Passengers. They investigated. They closed the case.Three years later, two Franke children were found bound and starving. Ruby is now serving four to thirty years for aggravated child abuse.Part 4 of "The Good Mother" examines why systems designed to protect children fail — and what the Franke case reveals about the gap between warning signs and intervention. The abuse wasn't hidden. Ruby documented her parenting for 2.5 million subscribers. A teenager sleeping on a beanbag for seven months was on camera. A six-year-old denied lunch was on camera. Public humiliation was content.Viewers reported. A Change.org petition was launched. Ruby's own family — parents, siblings, husband — all tried to intervene after Jodi Hildebrandt entered the picture. All were cut off.Shari Franke posted when her mother was arrested: "Finally."She elaborated: "We've been trying to tell police and CPS for years."For years.CPS is overwhelmed. The threshold for intervention is physical evidence of severe harm. Patterns of escalation don't trigger action until someone ends up in a hospital. The Frankes performed normalcy when investigators visited. Educated, affluent, religious. The children had been trained to perform too.By the time CPS showed up, everything probably looked fine. That's how children fall through cracks. If you reported something and nothing happened, that doesn't mean you were wrong. 8 Passengers had 2.5 million subscribers and a billion views. Six children filmed five days a week for eight years. The product was the children.Part 3 of "The Good Mother" examines the family vlogging industry through the Ruby Franke case — what happens when childhood becomes content, when children become products, when algorithms reward access to their worst moments. The Franke children were paid ten dollars per video. 8 Passengers had a billion views. Six children filmed five days a week from birth. Milestones were content. Punishments were content. Worst moments got the most views.Part 3 of "The Good Mother" examines the business underneath the Ruby Franke case: what happens when children become products, when childhood becomes content, when privacy is traded before a child understands the cost. The Franke children were paid ten dollars per video. Family vacations were compensation — except the vacations were funded by content featuring the children. Circular labor. Their childhood was the product.Shari Franke testified before the Utah Senate in October 2024. Her statement was blunt: "There is never, ever a good reason for posting your children online for money or fame. The exploitation started from the beginning.Kevin Franke watched raw footage for the Hulu documentary and said: "There will not be a single family content creator who watches that and does not cringe. Jodi Hildebrandt was a licensed therapist who built a life coaching business called ConneXions. Former clients describe it as a cult. Seven told NBC News she "methodically separated spouses" and destroyed marriages through isolation, shame, and constant surveillance. Her niece reported abuse in 2009 — tied up, duct taped, forced to sleep in snow. Nothing happened.Fourteen years later, Ruby Franke's children were found bound and starving in Jodi's house. Both women are serving four to thirty years for aggravated child abuse.Part 2 of "The Good Mother" examines how Jodi gained total control over the Franke family — and what the case reveals about coercive control psychology.Ruby met Jodi around 2019 while seeking help with her eldest son. Jodi offered validation: a framework that justified Ruby's strict parenting as righteous, and labeled anyone who questioned her as "living in deception."By 2021, Jodi had moved into the Franke home. Kevin was pushed out. Ruby's siblings, parents, extended family — all tried to intervene. All were cut off. This is the mechanics of coercive control. Isolation. Dependency. A framework that makes the victim believe everyone else is the enemy. In a jail call after her arrest, Ruby reflected on being separated from Jodi for the first time in years: "Being gone and not hearing her has cleared a lot of things up for me."Jodi showed no reflection. She reportedly still recruits vulnerable people from prison.A federal lawsuit now accuses both women of fraud and racketeering through ConneXions — claiming "thousands" had their lives destroyed. This episode examines how helpers become captors, what coercive control looks like, and why families often can't stop what they see happening.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? But even her loudest detractors couldn't know how despicable and unhinged her punishments had grown. Was Kevin Franke a victim of psychological manipulation — or a bystander who found it easier not to look too closely? In this gripping Hidden Killers deep dive, Tony Brueski and psychotherapist Shavaun Scott analyze one of the most troubling dynamics explored in Hulu's Devil in the Family: a father who insists he never recognized the abuse happening under his own roof. The episode begins with the psychology of Kevin's denial. How does a spouse convince themselves that extreme parenting is “discipline” rather than danger? Shavaun Scott breaks down the mechanisms of thought-reform, coercive influence, and the slow erosion of intuition. And then the most haunting question of all: what makes a father step away from his own children for an entire year because an outside “guru” told him to? But the story doesn't end with the collapse of the Franke family. Kevin recently announced his engagement, just six months after finalizing his divorce from Ruby — who is now serving a possible 30-year prison sentence for aggravated child abuse. The public reaction has been split: is this healing, deflection, or strategic rebranding? Tony and Shavaun examine the psychology of rapid re-partnering after trauma, the desire to rewrite personal identity, and the fine line between moving forward and bypassing accountability. We also explore Kevin's recent support of Utah's new “child influencer” law — a step toward protecting children exploited in monetized online content. His testimony was powerful, but does it reconcile the years he stood behind a camera while harmful parenting was broadcast to millions? This episode asks the hardest questions: Was Kevin controlled — or complicit? Is he rebuilding — or rebranding? And what does accountability look like for the children who had no choice? #KevinFranke #RubyFranke #8Passengers #HiddenKillers #PsychologicalAbuse #DevilInTheFamily #ParentalAccountability #TrueCrimeAnalysis #TonyBrueski #ShavaunScott Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Kate discusses the Netflix documentary Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story, a chilling true-crime examination of Utah therapist Jodi Hildebrandt and her role in a devastating child abuse case involving popular parenting YouTuber Ruby Franke. Directed by Skye Borgman, the film explores how Hildebrandt, a licensed therapist and life coach, built power and credibility through her program ConneXions, ultimately manipulating Franke and others by weaponizing therapeutic language and moral authority. The documentary escalates as it reveals the “inhumane and merciless disciplinary regime” enforced under Hildebrandt's influence, normalizing cruelty in the name of accountability and faith. The story reaches its horrifying conclusion in August 2023, when Franke's emaciated 12-year-old son escaped through a window of Hildebrandt's home and sought help from a neighbor, triggering the arrest of both women and exposing the dangers of unchecked influence, therapy culture misuse, and social media-driven credibility. Dave Franke stared down the cartel in Mexico's blood-soaked Zacatecas — and lived. Now he tells Glenn the unfiltered truth: The cartels are “absolutely” operating inside the United States. Through raw, firsthand accounts, he rips the veil off the narco-satanic cult of Santa Muerte — the Saint of Death — and the savage brutality it fuels. Trump calls the cartels “the ISIS of the Western hemisphere,” and his Homeland Security Task Force has already seized thousands of terrorists and cartel operatives, two million fentanyl pills, and 70 tons of narcotics. But Dave warns: We've barely “scratched the surface.” Facing entrenched corruption, human trafficking, and a highly profitable drug trade, Glenn and Dave debate a radical fix — legalize drugs — and ask the explosive question: Does our government let the cartels thrive in exchange for intel, just like in "Ozark"? It's the story that neither Fox nor CNN would let Glenn tell finally coming to the light, but is it already too late?
