Land shares insights on navigating political compromise, using social media as an advocacy tool and mobilizing sportsmen around public lands issues. You'll discover why "your voice matters" isn't just a platitude but a practical call to democratic engagement.Montana Fly Fishing HeritageWhile the episode focuses on conservation, Land shares formative memories from Montana's Big Hole River during the salmonfly hatch, fishing with mentors like Jim Posewitz and Dale Burke and learning patience on the water from Jim Range. These early experiences on Montana's legendary trout streams shaped his lifelong commitment to protecting wild places and public access.Public Lands and Political EngagementLand discusses current threats to public lands, the importance of compromise in conservation politics and why sitting out political debates means "you're on the menu, not at the table." He outlines American Hunters and Anglers' strategy of creating "fires" that larger conservation organizations can respond to, using social media reach to amplify urgent issues affecting sportsmen's access and habitat.Tune in to understand how fly anglers can effectively advocate for the waters they fish and why conservation requires engagement, not just donations.SponsorsThanks to TroutRoutes for sponsoring this episode. Today we are joined by two guests to chat about the latest book they have co-written, An Unexpected Grace  Book 3 in the Jewels of Kalispell series. We've visited with both of them individually before, and we're so excited to have them on together today. ABOUT THE AUTHORS Tracie Peterson is the bestselling author of more than 100 novels, both historical and contemporary, with more than 6 million copies sold. She has won the ACFW Lifetime Achievement Award and the Romantic Times Career Achievement Award. Her avid research resonates in her many bestselling series. Tracie and her family make their home in Montana. Kimberley Woodhouse is an award-winning, bestselling author of more than forty fiction and nonfiction books. She has won The Carol Award, The Reader's Choice Award, The Holt Medallion, and has finaled in the Selah Awards and the Spur Awards. She is passionate about Bible study, reading, music, cooking, and pretty-much-all-things-crafty. Kim and her incredible husband of thirty-plus years live in Colorado, where they play golf together, spend time with their kids and grandbaby, and research all the history around them. Co-Writers and Friends It's fascinating what makes a good co-writing team, and Tracie and Kim are no exception. They start the interview by sharing about their process, and how they each contribute to research and writing; but, more than that, they share how their friendship supports them in all areas of their lives. Kalispell, Montana As we discuss the third book in this series, Tracie and Kim share about their time in the northern Montana town of Kalispell. Each of the books features a particular landmark of the historic town -- in this case, the opera house. We learn more about the settling of Montana, what kept Kalispell on the map, and all about their research trip to the opera house. When Callings Clash An Unexpected Grace explores what it means to be called by God to a particular path in life -- and how those callings sometimes clash with those closest to us. Tracie and Kim never neglect the faith thread in their stories, even diving into complex aspects of our faith. A Show-Stealing Side Character When we asked Tracie and Kim if they had a favorite side character in this story, they both immediately came up with the same name. Learn which character stole their hearts (and readers'), and why they've come to love her so much. Connect with Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse at their websites, where you can find their newsletters, blogs, and social media links. About the Book Can unexpected grace lay the foundation for a second chance at love? After a decade away, Parker Bennett returns home with a traveling troupe to perform a play based on Uncle Tom's Cabin at the Kalispell Opera House. Parker has relished his life on the road, but being home awakens long-buried emotions when he encounters his first love, Johanna St. John. He can't help but wonder if there might still be a place for him in her heart. Widowed for three years, Johanna devotes all her time to a demanding toddler, an injured father, and a successful millinery business. After the loss of her husband, she desires to move on, but reconnecting with her past love leaves her unsure of what lies ahead. Both committed to God's distinct calling on their lives, Johanna and Parker struggle to see how their futures can unite, and when strange things start happening around town, their second chance at a life together seems more unlikely than ever. Min 5: AHORA ME VES 3 (3 estrellas) La saga de los ilusionistas vuelve con Now You See Me: Now You Don't (2025), la tercera entrega de la franquicia que inauguró Now You See Me.

He reveals the complex reactions from family—his mom's unexpected resistance, his dad's surprising embrace, and grandparents who rejected him entirely. The smell of fresh bread can change a life. Our guests from Great Harvest NWA share how a spur-of-the-moment lunch on a road trip, followed by a snowy trek to Montana, led them to trade corporate titles for early mornings, warm ovens, and a bakery that already feels like a Bentonville staple. Their why comes through fast: fresh-milled Montana wheat, no preservatives, house-made dressings, and the freedom to create within a “freedom franchise” model that invites personal flair and genuine hospitality. We dig into the details food lovers care about: the Baja Chipotle turkey that regulars swear by, cinnamon rolls and cinnamon chip bread that sell out, salted vanilla honey butter you'll want on everything, and a scone that single-handedly rewrote what a scone can be. They talk through dietary realities with honesty—how they handle egg-free or dairy-free requests, why gluten-free bread isn't feasible in a flour-filled bakery—and share smart conveniences like a drive-thru, strong rewards, online ordering, and delivery via DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. Seasonal fans get a preview too: cranberry swirl bread, stuffing bread, and rolls ready for Thanksgiving tables, plus a sourdough starter winging in from Montana with a community naming twist. What really stands out is the community heartbeat. Regulars already have names and stories. Ambassadors show up unprompted, passing menus to fly fishing clubs and bringing new friends every week. The team is building something that feels local because it is—owners on-site, young staff learning real service, and a space designed for conversation as much as convenience. We also look forward: how to scale to Fayetteville and beyond without losing the vibe that makes this place special, and what it takes to keep quality high while getting faster.Hungry yet? Check the hours, scan the menu, and plan your first visit or delivery. If you enjoy this conversation, subscribe, share it with a friend who loves great bread, and leave a quick review—what should they name their sourdough starter?

Hailed as "the next Walt Frazier" coming out of the University of Montana as a first-round pick (fourth overall) in the 1978 NBA Draft, "Sugar" was a force to be reckoned with, leading the league in both assists and steals in just his second season - still New York Knicks team records to this day - and earning four All-Star appearances and two All-Defensive team honors. But behind the scenes, his career was overshadowed by personal struggles with drugs and alcohol, leading to a historic lifetime ban from the NBA in 1986 while a member of the New Jersey Nets. Richardson shares how he rebounded from that moment, finding redemption through subsequent stints as a player and coach in places like the CBA (Albany Patroons, Oklahoma Cavalry); USBL (Long Island Knights); Premiere Basketball League; and a prolific 14-year professional league run in Europe, where he guided teams to championships and redefined his legacy.  Now running youth basketball clinics and reflecting on his journey, Richardson proves that resilience and accountability can turn even the darkest chapters into a comeback story. + + + SUPPORT THE SHOW: Buy Us a Coffee: https://ko-fi.com/goodseatsstillavailable The "Good Seats" Store: https://www.teepublic.com/?ref_id=35106  BUY THE BOOK (AND SUPPORT THE SHOW!): "An American Cricket Odyssey: A Journey into the Soul of the Cricket in the United States": https://amzn.to/4nFOdoh  SPONSOR THANKS (AND SUPPORT THE SHOW!):    Old School Shirts.com (10% off promo code: GOODSEATS): https://oldschoolshirts.com/goodseats Royal Retros (10% off promo code: SEATS): https://www.503-sports.com?aff=2 FIND AND FOLLOW: Linktree: https://linktr.ee/GoodSeatsStillAvailable Web: https://goodseatsstillavailable.com/ Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/goodseatsstillavailable.com X/Twitter: https://twitter.com/GoodSeatsStill YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@goodseatsstillavailable Threads: https://www.threads.net/@goodseatsstillavailable Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/goodseatsstillavailable/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GoodSeatsStillAvailable/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/good-seats-still-available/

Send us a Text: Ask Us a Question! This episode of Waypoints is a bit ... different. Host Jim Klug sits down with former White House Chief of Staff, Congressman, Mayor of Chicago, and U.S. Ambassador to Japan - Rahm Emanuel - for an out-of-the-ordinary, candid conversation that blends politics, perspective, and pure flyfishing obsession. While Rahm has been featured on countless political shows, this discussion steps away from pure campaign strategy and policy spin to explore how one of America's most recognized political figures finds happiness and focus through flyfishing. From chasing peacock bass in the jungles of the Amazon to stalking trout in Montana, Rahm's passion for the sport runs deep.Known for his intensity and drive in the political arena, Emanuel opens up about how time on the water provides clarity, humility, and balance - and why conservation, access, and public lands should matter to every angler. The conversation ranges from global travel and favorite fisheries to flyfishing's potential role in connecting people across political lines. It also touches on the current political climate in D.C. and the future of conservation and outdoor recreation policy. It's an unexpected and refreshing look at a figure who may soon make headlines for much more than his casting stroke - and who just might be the one to bring flyfishing back to the White House in 2028!Waypoints is brought to you by PatagoniaTo bring their gear to life, Patagonia is motivated by relentless curiosity and a passion for the wild. In this episode of American Potential, host David From sits down with Congressman Troy Downing of Montana's vast First District to talk about unleashing America's energy potential and keeping the nation secure—both economically and militarily. Downing discusses how affordable, reliable energy is the backbone of prosperity for families, small businesses, and industry, and why under President Trump's leadership, the country is once again embracing an “all-of-the-above” energy strategy. From tapping Montana's coal reserves in the Powder River Basin to supporting oil, gas, renewables, and next-generation transmission, Downing explains how responsible energy production can fuel America's competitiveness in the AI and data-driven economy. He also reflects on his service as a U.S. veteran, sharing why he believes America is worth fighting for and why energy independence and national defense are inseparable. It's a powerful look at leadership, patriotism, and how Montana's energy innovation is helping power the American dream.
