In this episode of No More Late Fees, Danielle and Jackie welcome back their Star Wars ride-or-die, Maria, to embark on an epic (and slightly chaotic) mission: ranking their top five Star Wars characters to date. It's not just about choosing the hottest Jedi or the sassiest Sith—it's about deciding who's a certified simp and who's worthy of a seat on the Millennium Falcon. Spoiler alert: Anakin's a red flag, Kylo Ren's the family's moody bad boy, and Han Solo's still the original galactic heartthrob. Plus, Danielle might just be developing a crush on Gwendoline Christie, while Jackie contemplates whether Donald Glover's Lando is a worthy heir to the legendary Billy Dee Williams. But the real challenge? Sacrificing two of their picks to the unforgiving Sarlacc pit. Tears are shed, thirst is discussed, and somehow, Pedro Pascal's swagger is too powerful to cut. To top it all off, Maria shares her employee picks, which naturally include some Star Wars classics and a Vin Diesel favorite because, yes, The Iron Giant is still undefeated. Tune in for all the laughs, pop culture debates, and a surprising amount of Pedro Pascal worship.—No More Late Fees https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com909-601-NMLF (6653)—Follow Us on Social:Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/nomorelatefees TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@nomorelatefees Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/nomorelatefeesYoutubehttps://www.youtube.com/@nomorelatefees Twitterhttps://x.com/NoMoreLateFees —CONQUERingmyconquering.com10% Off Code: JACKIE10—NostaBeautyhttps://nostabeauty.com 20% Off Code: NMLF—MariaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/mariawatcheseverything/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@mariawatcheseverything—Maria's Previous EpisodesBend it Like Beckhamhttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/bend-it-like-beckhamKickin' it with Mariahttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/kickin-it-with-mariaHoleshttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/holesDiggin' it with Mariahttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/diggin-it-with-mariaStar Wars Episode 2 - Attack of the Cloneshttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/star-wars-episode-2-attack-of-the-clonesVillain Worship: Ranking the Hottest Movie Baddies with Mariahttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/villain-worship-ranking-the-hottest-movie-baddies-with-maria
We're continuing our journey on the open road this month with a classic Disney movie released three decades ago. In this film, a father and son come to terms with the circle of life while realizing the importance of being prepared to face the challenges of a road trip. Far from meaning “no worries” for the son (who wants to feel the love tonight with his crush), the efforts of the father (who just can't wait to be king of the road) to reconnect with his son lead to a veritable stampede of sight gags, one-liners, and comedies-of-error. No, it's not The Lion King! Based on the Disney Afternoon cartoon series Goof Troop, produced by Jeffrey Katzenberg, and featuring the voice talents of Bill Farmer, Jason Marsden, Jim Cummings, Kellie Martin, and Rob Paulsen, it was a massive flop on release and was critically panned. But in the thirty years since, it has gone on to become a cult classic, with a direct-to-video sequel in the year 2000, multiple pop-culture references (including in Donald Glover's Atlanta), and a documentary, Not Just a Goof, released just this month. Ladies and goofs, it's A Goofy Movie! But will we be seeing it “I 2 I”? For more geeky podcasts visit GonnaGeek.com You can find us on iTunes under ''Legends Podcast''. With everything on the line, the council convenes to decide two major battles: Donald Glover vs Childish Gambino, and Alien Invasion vs Zombie Outbreak. It's not zombies...Honestly, when did people get all obsessed with watching people getting eaten alive? I figured after the first ever zombie movie humanity would have shat itself in fear and been all like Good Lord we must unite to make sure the T-Virus never gets out. I blame Resident Evil personally, like why is a ZOMBIE virus labeled with the letter T? Cameron Carr is not just a director—he's a force of nature, reshaping the future of storytelling with a sharp focus on the human experience and Black-led narratives. Born and raised in Harlem, Carr's cinematic journey began with childhood VHS tapes and blossomed through years of working in the fast-paced advertising world at agencies like Wieden+Kennedy and BBDO. Now, after years of honing his craft in the commercial space, he's making his indelible mark on film, blending Afro-futurism, drama, and social commentary into work that's as visually compelling as it is emotionally resonant. His directorial debut, 'Harlem Fragments', is a visceral exploration of family dynamics during the 2008 recession, telling the story of a Harlem Black family's unraveling with staggering beauty and devastating truth. Backed by FUJIFILM with a production budget of $100K, 'Harlem Fragments' doesn't just mark a new chapter for Carr—it signifies his commitment to telling deeply personal stories that speak to the broader Black experience. Shot in the very brownstone his family lost, it's an act of reclamation and self-expression, a vulnerable but powerful PSA for emotional transparency within families, especially in the Black community. Carr's passion for storytelling is matched only by his dedication to collaboration. For him, directing is about more than just calling the shots—it's about building a village, from cinematographers to editors, all working together to deliver a piece of work that resonates. His background in advertising taught him the importance of efficiency and creativity under pressure, but it's in film where his heart truly lies. Whether it's television, branded content, or narrative features, Cameron Carr is charting a course through Hollywood with a focus on genre-defying work that highlights the complexities of Black life and culture. As he moves forward, Carr's focus on pushing boundaries remains unwavering. Drawing inspiration from visionary directors like Jordan Peele, Barry Jenkins, and Donald Glover, he's determined to redefine what's possible in filmmaking. His trajectory is clear: continue elevating Black voices, bridging artistic disciplines, and using film to challenge societal norms. With a rapidly growing body of work, including multiple festival award-winners and collaborations with top-tier talent, Cameron Carr's future in film is as bright and innovative as the stories he creates. On this episode, Matt & Eric review Barry Jenkins' Mufasa: The Lion King starring Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Tiffany Boone, Donald Glover, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Anika Noni Rose, Blue Ivy Carter, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.
For this week's main podcast review, I am joined by Nadia Dalimonte, Josh Parham & Tom O'Brien to review and discuss the latest film from director Barry Jenkins, "Mufasa: The Lion King," starring Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Tiffany Boone, Donald Glover, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Anika Noni Rose, Blue Ivy Carter & Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. We say it's the latest film from Barry Jenkins, but it doesn't look or feel like any of his previous works, as he decided to undertake the sequel to the poorly received but financially successful 2019 remake of "The Lion King." What did we think of Jenkins's direction? Was he able to elevate this material? How did we feel about the visuals, music, and voice performances? Tune in as we discuss these topics, its awards season chances, and more in our SPOILER-FILLED review. Thank you for listening, and enjoy! Check out more on NextBestPicture.com Please subscribe on... The King has returned! Barry Jenkins' Lion King prequel - Mufasa: The Lion King - has released in theaters and I had the chance to check it out just recently. The Lion King is my favorite animated film of all-time but beyond further reflection and pondering, the remake was quite a big letdown that lacked much of the soul and creativity of that original animated film. That's why I was very skeptical about Barry Jenkins' prequel and I wanted nothing more than to be excited about more movies set in the continuity of The Lion King. Barry Jenkins' involvement certainly had my curiosity piqued though. Did the movie win me over, or is this yet another soulless live-action Disney film? Find out in this review! Awards season has arrived in the form of the Golden Globes nominations. The awards, which honor both movies and television programs, is often viewed as a preview of the upcoming Oscars. In this week's episode, co-hosts Bruce Miller and Terry Lipshetz go over the list, focusing largely on the movies, which tend to shine brightest at the ceremony. But they also take time to review a few of the TV shows, including the great, but rarely funny "The Bear," which is again in the comedy or musical category. We also have an interview with "Nickel Boys" director RaMell Ross, who spoke with Miller prior to the film receiving a nomination for best drama. What sign is Han Solo? With Matthew & Alex unavailable, solo host Erin dives deep into her unique perspective on Solo: A Star Wars Story, offering a fresh take on the controversial Star Wars film. Erin explores why this often-criticized film holds a special place in her heart.Key Discussion Points:Does Alden Ehrenreich capture Harrison Ford's Han Solo? How does Qi'ra's character arc reflect the realities of survival? Erin explores the compelling dynamic between Han's romanticism and Qi'ra's pragmatic evolution. Why does the Kessel Run sequence work so well? Erin breaks down how this legendary feat lives up to expectations through stunning visuals and character dynamics.Other Topics Covered:The scene-stealing performance of Donald Glover as Lando CalrissianL3-37's revolutionary spirit and memorable quotesThe significance of Enfys Nest's reveal and the early rebellionClone Wars connections and Easter eggs throughout the filmThe complex mentor-mentee relationship between Beckett and HanThe origin of Han and Chewie's iconic partnershipDarth Maul's surprise appearance and implicationsAnd the most important question of all - what sign is Han Solo?In conclusion, Erin makes a compelling case for Solo as an entertaining space western that, while perhaps not perfectly aligned with Han's original trilogy character, offers enough thrilling sequences and compelling character moments to stand on its own merits. She suggests it might be the perfect Star Wars film to introduce casual fans to the broader universe.Matthew would like to register a word of protest that he is NOT old enough to have ever loved Celine Deon. That Show Hasn't Been Funny In Years: an SNL podcast on Radio Misfits
The one and only time the multi-talented Donald Glover hosted *Saturday Night Live* was on May 5th, 2018, and it's high time he returns to host again. The actor, writer, director, comedian, singer, and musician did an outstanding job, not just as the host but also as the musical guest, performing under his stage name, Childish Gambino. This episode from Season 43 was a solid, often hilarious show packed with timely sketches, weird parodies, lots of music, and plenty of celebrity cameos, including Zoe Kravitz, Scarlett Johansson, Ben Stiller, Martin Short, and Stormy Daniels. Glover's comedic range was on full display as he portrayed characters like Lando Calrissian, a slimy lawyer, a stalking rapper (in an insanely weird satire of the '80s artist Oran "Juice" Jones), a guy who awkwardly requests dirty talk in the bedroom, and, in a surprisingly prescient sketch, an intern at Mattel who gives Barbie a disturbing backstory (perhaps Greta Gerwig was watching that night?). Donald Glover's brilliant work in this episode is proof that he needs to host *SNL* again, and soon. [Ep93]

Cop Cam of Tyreek Hill is changing minds, never forget 9/11, Dave Grohl's affair baby, Trump v. Harris debate recap, The Sopranos “Wise Guy” doc on Max, Shannon Sharpe's “hacked” sex tape, RIP James Earl Jones, and Deshaun Watson's sex assault allegation #27. What are infamous Oprah guests Rochelle and John doing these days? NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe claims his Instagram was hacked as a sex tape was posted on his page. Is it real or did he fake it to troll Antonio Brown? The debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump went down last night. The biggest takeaway is “they are eating our pets”. It turns out a crazy person in Ohio did eat a cat. Taylor Swift and Caitlin Clark have endorsed Kamala. Virginia would like to tone down the Thomas Jefferson slavery talk. It's 9/11 and we haven't forgotten. Tiffany Henyard remains the worst mayor possibly ever, but she knows how to throw a dud of a party. Jesse Plemons thinks he's hot. Get over yourself, Plemons. RIP James Earl Jones. Let's all pause to recognize his greatest work. Music: Dave Grohl cheats on his wife and father's a bastard daughter. His daughters have deleted their social media. The Swifties are piling on because he made a mean comment about Tay-Tay. Chester Bennington's son is angry at his father's former band. He's now getting death threats during suicide prevention month. Donald Glover stops touring to take a mental break and “focus on his physical health”. Kendrick Lamar better call Drake a pedophile at the next Super Bowl Halftime Show. Some people are really angry that it isn't Lil Wayne because the game is in New Orleans. Jay-Z allegedly nailed Foxy Brown when she was 15-years-old. Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson is being sued again for sexual assault. Now that he isn't good at football anymore people are taking this accusation seriously. Dawn Richard of Danity Kane is suing Diddy. Diddy, meanwhile, lost a $100M judgement to a Michigan inmate because he never responded to his lawsuit. Jayden James Federline is 18 and the gravy train is over for Papa-zao Kevin Federline. We watch the cop cam of Tyreek Hill getting detained in Miami. Now that the video is out, Tyreek realizes he should have done things differently. Billy McFarland is still trying to make Fyre Festival II happen. Drew highly recommends the new Sopranos doc on Max titled Wise Guy: David Chase and The Sopranos. We'll be talking to Jeff Tremaine next week about Nöthin' But a Good Time: The Uncensored Story of '80s Hair Metal. New Podcast alerts: Talk Tuah kicked off with Hailey Welch interviewing Whitney Cummings. A Touch More with Sue Bird & Megan Rapinoe is out now and awful. David Bowie has a #1 country music hit now… kind of. We remember Oliver Anthony's greatest (only) hit. Farts are funny. Matt Damon knows… bros before hoes. Connor Stalions sucks at coaching football. Lauren Sanchez in tears promoting her crappy children's book on GMA with Astronaut Michael Strahan. The Detroit Tigers are making a major playoff push.
