1% Podcast w/ David Nurse | NBA Life/Optimization Coach Interviews NBA Athletes & High Performers on Mindset & Unshakeable Co

Welcome to a very special series of The David Nurse Show: The Dr. & The Nurse! For this series of episodes, David is joined by Dr. Daniel Amen—renowned psychologist and mental health expert—to help break down how to perform at your highest level. Dr. Amen will be taking a look at the brain science behind the topics covered in this series, while David sits down with experts in the field to discuss the actionable tools we can all implement to make our lives better. So let's dive in! For this first episode of The Dr. & The Nurse, David is joined by health and science journalist Max Lugavere. Taking a cue from Max's New York Times bestseller, Genius Foods, David and Max break down all things nutrition optimization. Together the two hit on why ultra-processed foods are damaging your cognitive function, how to get more protein into your diet, what Max eats in a day to perform at his best, and some of the common misconceptions behind consuming whole foods. Dr. Amen joins David for the second part of the episode, where they sit down to discuss the psychological impacts of nutrition optimization. Dr. Amen offers practical tools for eating healthier, outlines some of the foods that lead to improved cognitive performance (and the foods that do not), and discusses why sugar—not fat—is the leading cause of so many health problems. Cutting-edge AI infrastructure needs all the performance it can get, but these environments must also be efficient and reliable. This episode of Utilizing Tech, brought to you by Solidigm, features Davide Villa of Xinnor discussing the value of modern software RAID and NVMe SSDs with Ace Stryker and Stephen Foskett. Xinnor xiRAID leverages the resources of the server, including the AVX instruction set found on modern CPUs, to combine NVMe SSDs, providing high performance and reliability inside the box. Modern servers have multiple internal drive slots, and all of these drives must be managed and protected in the event of failure. This is especially important in AI servers, since an ML training run can take weeks, amplifying the risk of failure. Software RAID can be used in many different implementations, with various file systems, including NFS and high-performance networks like InfiniBand. And it can be tuned to maximize performance for each workload. Xinnor can help customers to tune the software to maximize reliability of SSDs, especially with QLC flash, by adapting the chunk size and minimizing write amplification. Xinnor also produces a storage platform solution called xiSTORE that combines xiRAID with the Lustre FS clustered file system, which is already popular in HPC environments. Although many environments can benefit from a full-featured storage platform, others need a software RAID solution to combine NVMe SSDs for performance and reliability. In this episode of Doing the Opposite: Business Disruptors, Jeff Dewing speaks to Morra Aarons-Mele, who is a speaker, entrepreneur, author and podcaster who prides herself on helping people to talk about hard things. Morra knows that taking your mental health seriously is a leadership strength. She hosts ‘The Anxious Achiever Podcast' and founded the award-winning social impact agency Women Online and created its database of female influencers, the Mission List.Morra is driven by the idea that people can be happier at work. She reflects on her career, from early dotcom businesses to US Politics, and the mental health struggles she faced along the way – even when mental health was not something that was openly discussed.  She now works to help people better understand themselves so they can work in a way that better suits their temperament, their personality, and their character.Morra explains than managing expectations is a crucial part of managing your mental health. ‘We're driven by invisible expectations that stress us out and often make us really anxious. We don't understand other people's expectations of us. What is the goal here?!'. Clearly defined, realistic expectations are essential in ensuring positive mental health.  Morra highlights the factors that motivate employees most; studies show that autonomy and agency are more important to most workers than a pay raise. Also, ensure you utilise your staff effectively by placing them doing what they love. People will naturally be more productive and thrive in an environment where they can excel. Morra is also inspired by the mantra of Cali Yost that work/life balance is a fiction, instead you need to find your work/life fit! Make work work for you, whatever that may look like.  Hosted by Jeff Dewing Watch the podcast on YouTube Discover Cloudfm GroupWebsite  |  Facebook  |  Twitter  |  LinkedIn

Create a quality product and the market will accept it.As 5.11 Tactical celebrates its 20th anniversary, Francisco shares how they constantly spearhead innovation, from securing patents to diversifying their product line to cater to regular consumers. But behind their success, Francisco shares how he feared for the business since the market was racing to the price floor.Add to that the explosion in costs and the business looked like it wouldn't survive. However, with their innovative products that worked as well as they looked and felt, consumers found their price justified. Today, 5.11 is a household name in the military, law enforcement, EP, and many other industries. Tune in to hear Francisco's amazing story of growing the company and his commitment to putting out products that people actually want to wear in this episode of The Fearless Mindset Podcast.GOLDEN NUGGETSConstantly innovating tactical wear for all situations - Francisco: “We are obsessed with innovation, and we focus those innovations by looking at the problem sets that military, law enforcement, security, EMTs, and firefighters will present on the field. Normally these problem sets are either mission-specific or they happen to be having to carry certain equipment in a certain way."A commitment to new materials and methods for consumers - Francisco: "We're innovating, creating a lot of IP. That's why, as a company, we have a lot of patents. We have a lot of patents on raw materials, on construction, and a lot of our products receive patents because this is the first time somebody has figured out how to do a certain thing. Then we take those innovations and sometimes the same exact product translates completely into everyday products."Get to know more about Francisco:LinkedIn | 5.11 Tactical | 511tactical.comTo hear more episodes of The Fearless Mindset podcast, you can go to https://the-fearless-mindset.simplecast.com/ or listen to major podcasting platforms such as Apple, Google Podcasts, Spotify, etc. You can also subscribe to the Fearless Mindset YouTube Channel to watch episodes on video.

Training, conditioning, practice and even superstition all seem to go out the window when the green flag drops. Have you ever wondered why you can be "in the zone" and perform at your best on a practice day, but during the race nothing ever seems to come together? Maybe it was bad luck? or maybe… you mentally sabotaged yourself? To discuss why people “psych themselves out” and how to prevent it from happening is Dr. Jacques Dallaire, Ph.D, founder and president of Performance Prime, where he spends his time working with race teams of all disciplines to “develop the mindset of champions.”

Our first premiere of the week comes from one of the most exhilarating names in techno today, Chlär. Swiss native Chlär arrives on SHDW & Obscure Shapes imprint Mutual Rytm for a six track EP, comprised of futuristic grooves and tribal narratives. We premiere ‘Spirit Enhancer' a high octane 90's inspired cut, which draws on dub techno and disco flavours. Emerging as an artist of note for both now and the future, Chlär continues to craft and shape his sound as he curates his own high-octane approach to techno. Combining dynamic performances taking in three and four deck mixes with his own up front productions and his talents as a former mastering engineer, the Swiss talent has become a respected name amongst his peers. After releases on Lobster Theremin and his own Bipolar Disorder imprint, the Berlin-based DJ, producer and label boss heads to SHDW & Obscure Shape's blooming label Mutual Rytm to deliver six precise and powerful cuts across his ‘Optimized Groove' EP. “As the names states, ‘Optimized grooves' is a collection of tracks designed to match specific parts of the event/night. From ‘Night Genesis' at the origin of the night through to tracks like ‘Maximum Performance', a peak time bomb, and ‘Spirit Enhancer' – an uplifting and warm production elevating individuals to higher labels after hours of spiritual connection” – Chlär We have the pleasure of once again premiering music from our favourite new techno label, Mutual Rytm and Chlär's release is one of the most exciting yet. Spirit Enchancer comes in hot as the final track of the record (excluding the digital exclusive), and it's packed with smouldering grooves. The Berlin based producer seems to be firmly looking back at classic 90's techno for inspiration on this one, as the track would be easily mistake for early Technasia or Monika Kruse. Chlär goes hard with rolling low end, yet show's the light with illuminating strings, funked up disco sampling, and some infectious dub chord for good measure. The most impressive piece of of production prowess on this track is Chlär's impeccable ability to create raw and raucous drum grooves and exemplary swing on his percussion, simply infectious in every possible way. BIO: Sakthivel Thevar is a highly sought-after international speaker and Maximum Performance coach within the business and corporate circles. STORY: Sakthivel was looking for a mentor when he first joined the corporate world. Without much thought into it, he went with the first guy who offered to mentor him. He didn't gain much from the mentor even after working with him for months. The mentor was just not the right fit. LEARNING: Be clear about the kind of people you want to invest in. Take your time, don't rush when finding a mentor.   “Just as you don't blindly invest in a house, look at the options available for you when picking a mentor.”Sakthivel Thevar  Guest profilehttps://www.linkedin.com/in/sakthivel-thevar/ (Sakthivel Thevar) is a highly sought-after international speaker and Maximum Performance coach within the business and corporate circles, starting his career in the most challenging way possible as a military officer and Airborne Ranger in the Singapore Armed Forces. Worst investment everWhen Sakthivel left the military, he decided to join the financial industry as an advisor. His goal was to make a difference to people. Because he didn't know much about being an entrepreneur, Sakthivel decided to invest in a mentor. He went out and talked to several people. Then this guy came up to him and told him that he could be his mentor. Sakthivel didn't think twice. He decided to work with him. Eight months later, Sakthivel's business was tanking, and he could barely pay his bills. When he couldn't afford to buy his daughter a book she wanted, he realized that he had made a wrong investment. He had invested his time and business with the wrong person because he didn't do his due diligence to check other options. He chose a mentor blindly without first figuring out what to look for in a mentor. He just decided this guy was the one and just went for it. Lessons learnedWhen choosing a mentor, find out whether they're in line with what you believe in. Be clear of who you want to invest your time in and if they'll be able to bring you to where you want to be. Take your time, don't rush when finding a mentor. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Learn to say no to people who are not the right match for you. Andrew's takeawaysTake the time to do the research, and the benefits will come. Time is the only real resource that we have. It allows us to do the things that we want to do. Use it well. Get the right boss. So many people get stuck in situations where they're with the wrong people, and they stay out of convenience. Don't walk away from what works. Actionable adviceBe clear about what you're looking for when you're thinking of investing your time in learning something, especially from someone. Be clear of the outcome or the things that you require from this person. Then ask yourself whether this person can bring you in that direction. No. 1 goal for the next 12 monthsSakthivel's number one goal for the next 12 months is to get his new book out. He also gives talks, so his biggest goal is to reach out to as many people as possible. Through experimentation and education, she unlocked how to really help others achieve their peak health. Now she's helping others and educating the world on what real health is. Listen, learn, and let us know what you think about this awesome episode! Episode Summary Erica's Background Erica thought looking good was the key to her happiness She also thought she was doing fitness and health the right way Erica was actually working at a non-profit promoting healthcare and wellness Unfortunately, this non-profit wasn't promoting the best practices Eventually, she came to the realization that wellness isn't one size fits all It took her a while to find what worked for her Creating an Experiment Mindset The program that Erica went through pushed you to challenge your wellness beliefs It would convince you to be vegan and then highlight the benefits of meats Eventually, you start to see what makes real sense to you and not just following a narrative Then we discuss problems with the food pyramid and breakfast being the most important meal of the day To find what works for you she promotes experimenting Introduce one new piece to your wellness journey at a time and keep what works for you Crowding In vs Eliminating Erica promotes that you bring in the things that you want instead of focusing on the cut Add in more grains and more water, the things you're cutting out will eliminate itself Challenge yourself on the things you are hanging onto that are keeping you from wellness goals How are those bad habits serving you? Then Erica drops all kind of knowledge on us around sugar Healthy People Perform We discuss how health and wellness goes beyond life expectancy It also impacts your job performance and thus your profit margins Entrepreneurs love to boast about performing on four hours of sleep That's impressive But imagine how well they'd perform on eight hours of sleep! Turn your good (which might be great for everyone else) into your great The All-Important Sleep Don't eat close to sleeping (2-3 hours between food and sleep) Get off the phone before bedtime Don't drink caffeine after 2 pm Sleep is the first thing Erica recommends you to work on for wellness We need 7-8 hours per night! Performing on four hours of sleep isn't interesting or impressive Key Takeaways One size fits one: Erica highlights over and over just how personal that fitness and wellness are, experiment! Good Intentions: Even though Erica was working at a non-profit promoting health, she was still unknowingly a part of the problem Call to Action Experiment with your own health and wellness journey. You may have heard of “calm technology”—the idea that technology should capture one’s attention only in the periphery, with minimal invasive disruptions. But what happens when the concept is applied to learning? In this week’s episode, we look at calm learning through two lenses, the individual and the organizational. Laurie Cameron, author of “The Mindful Day: Practical Ways to Find Focus, Calm, and Joy,” discusses practical tips for creating calm learning conditions that can help us thrive in a variety of work environments. Our Deloitte Roundtable Panel keeps the conversation going by exploring the techniques and technologies organizations can use to bring calm learning into the “flow of work”—to boost performance and drive new opportunities.

INDIEGOGO LINK - https://igg.me/at/filmproprodpod Hello and welcome to A SPECIAL EPISODE of Film Pro Productivity, the podcast which helps film professionals and other creatives to live a more focused, effective and HAPPY life. My name is Carter Ferguson and this is Episode 32 – The Law of Single Handling Intro This is the first of two special episodes which will be released to support my crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to support this show for one more year. Details of how you can help will be given at the end of the show. Zig Ziglar says that “Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four hour days.” One of my earliest episodes, episode 3, is all about prioritising because it’s such a fundamental part of what improving our productivity entails. The law of single handling links very much to another topic I covered in Episode 10, Multitasking. Season 2 of this show and its promotion was so immensely time-consuming for me that I have a real feeling of apprehension in moving forward into season 3. I’ve been so indecisive in how to move forward that I’ve ground to a near halt. In the end though, out of urgent necessity, I have had to pin my resolve to the sticking post and almost literally tie myself to a laptop for a few days to get things done. There’s nothing like an imminent deadline to jumpstart you from inaction back into action again. Lesson Adam Sicinski on MasterMindMatrix.com says “You will maximize your performance and potential only when you discipline yourself to concentrate single-mindedly on your single most important task from inception to completion without distraction.” That is the law of single handling. Only in this way will you effectively optimize your output and productivity. Pro-level Basketball coach Bob Starkey says “The ability to start and complete your most important task determines your productivity more than any other skill.” And that MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE is only possible when you concentrate single-mindedly on the task—the most important task, and you stay at it until it is 100% complete. You see picking up a task, putting it down and coming back to it several times, dramatically increases the amount of time necessary to complete it.   Picking it up the task but REFUSING TO PUT IT DOWN UNTIL IT IS DONE enables you to accomplish vastly more in a shorter period of time than you ever thought possible. By disciplining yourself to concentrate single-mindedly on the most important thing you could possibly be doing, and then by completing that task, you increase the quantity, quality, and value of your output substantially. And the good news is that every time you complete a major task, you experience a surge of energy, enthusiasm, and self-esteem and can BUILD THE HABIT of disciplining yourself to concentrate single-mindedly until the task is complete. With this the all-important habit of task completion ingrained on your mind you program your subconscious mind to look forward to major tasks because you know how good you are going to feel when you have completed them. Summing Up So single Handling is perhaps the most powerful of all time management techniques. It can increase your output by as much as 500%. It can reduce the amount of time you spend on a task by fully 80% —by the very act of launching into the task and disciplining yourself to stay with it until it is complete. Call To Action You cannot do everything, but you can do one thing, the most important thing, and you can do it now. By setting goals and priorities, and then by selecting your most important task, you can dramatically increase your level of productivity and output. Vince Lombardi said that “Success demands a singleness of purpose.” So today’s call to action is to utilise the LAW OF SINGLE HANDLING by selecting your most important task, getting yourself organized, and then working on it wholeheartedly and without distraction until it is complete. Do this over and over until this habit of single handling is firmly entrenched. Increase your output by the 500% which Single Handling creates. Ending This is the first of  2 special episodes to promote the IndieGoGo campaign to raise £500 to pay for the hosting packages and some marketing for year two of this podcast. Please help by spreading the word on social media or by buying one of the perks which include the opportunity to sponsor future shows. This episode was completed in a single sitting, and it was difficult to ignore the phone, the social media, the people who I know passing me by in the coffee shop where I’ve prepped it, but I managed it by single handling. Master this and you will be more powerful than you can possibly imagine – and yes I realise I’m bastardizing a quote by Alec Guinness in Star Wars. I’ll end with the words of Alexander Graham Bell  “Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand. The sun’s rays do not burn until brought to a focus.” Now - take control of your own destiny, keep on shootin’, and join me next time on Film Pro Productivity.
