Was wollte man mehr?...hier weiterlesen: https://apolut.net/the-good-doctor-von-anke-behrend/ Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Send us a text1997-Charles Jaynes is likely the most infamous murderer in modern Massachusetts history. Jaynes and his codefendant Sal Sicari groomed ten year old Jeffery Curley. The duo then murdered the child and defiled his body multiple times. DNA and a host of other evidence ties both defendants to a throughly heinous crime. Massachusetts came one vote shy of restoring the death penalty, that's how vile this crime was. The media coverage was gauged to be akin to the OJ Simpson trial. In true Massachusetts fashion Jaynes was eligible for parole in 2020. Don't miss this episode !Jaynes Articlehttps://bit.ly/3BWFyqeBoston Heraldhttps://bit.ly/2XgoywgComm V. E.Z. has endured his own spiritual battles in life. By 15 years old, he had been expelled from two schools, joined the Crips gang, was a rap artist who struggled with substance abuse. He later attempted suicide in front of his family. In 1991, he underwent a profound transformation after hearing the gospel and turned his life over to Christ. By twenty-one, E.Z. was an ordained pastor attending a Christian university, married, and had started a family. Emeal “E.Z.” Zwayne is the president of Living Waters (with Ray Comfort), and author of Fight Like a Man: A Bold, Biblical Battle Plan for Personal Purity that presents biblical truths and strategies to combat the enemies of purity. Whether the battle is with lust, pornography, sex outside marriage, or adultery and despite how many times we’ve failed to overcome sexual sin, E.Z. assures us that hope is available through the love, forgiveness, and grace of God, which were demonstrated through the death and resurrection of Christ.Support the show: https://give.moodyradio.org/fall-share?v=def&appeal=MRWM&_gl=1%2a142i9we%2a_ga%2aNTE4MTE5MmUtY2U1Yy00YmQ3LWU4MmUtNjEwYTQ5YzAyODRj%2a_ga_4WH1937046%2aMTY5NTExODEwMS4yOTkuMC4xNjk1MTE4MTAxLjYwLjAuMA..&_ga=2.197426156.215784306.1695059984-1182841406.166859587See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week: Miliband's empty energy promises. Ed Miliband has written a public letter confirming that Labour plans to decarbonise the electricity system by 2030. The problem with this, though, is that he doesn't have the first idea about how to do it. The grid doesn't have the capacity to transmit the required energy, Ross Clark writes, and Miliband's claim that wind is ‘nine times cheaper' than fossil fuels is based upon false assumptions. What is more, disclosed plans about ‘GB Energy' reveal that Miliband's pet project isn't really a company at all – but an investment scheme. This empty vessel will funnel taxpayer money into the hands of private companies rather than produce any energy itself. To discuss, Lara and Will were joined by Shaun Spiers, executive director of the Green Alliance and Stanley Johnson, former MEP, environmental campaigner and author of the new book In the footsteps of Marco Polo deals extensively on China's energy problems and opportunities. (02:26) Then: Lara and Will take us through some of their favourite pieces from the magazine, including the lead book review and Catriona Olding's Still Life column. Next: meet Nigel Farage's millionaire Reform chairman. The Reform party has a new poster boy, the 37-year-old party Chairman Zia Yusuf. Self-dubbed a ‘British Muslim patriot', Yusuf is a former Goldman Sachs partner and tech owner with an expensive taste for cars. He is tasked with transforming Farage's outfit from a limited company into a proper party. You can read James Heale's full interview with Yusuf in this week's magazine, but they have kindly allowed us to hear a section of their discussion on the podcast. They talk about the Nigel Farage effect and Lee Anderson's comments about Sadiq Khan. (18:34) And finally: should we feel sorry for restaurant critics? Angus Colwell, The Spectator's assistant online editor, writes about the plight of the restaurant critic and the stresses of doing what many would consider the best job in the world. To discuss further, Angus joined us alongside the Observer's restaurant critic Jay Rayner, whose new book Nights Out, At Home celebrates his 25 years as a food critic and is available to buy now. (29:41) Hosted by Lara Prendergast and William Moore. Produced by Oscar Edmondson and Patrick Gibbons.

When home feels like a war zone, our heroes in uniform are the ones rushing into the line of fire. Today, we have the privilege of hearing from one of these brave souls - Jeremy Vaughn, a state police officer who courageously faced a dangerous encounter on February 11th, 2022. He shares the chilling account of a high-speed pursuit that began with a confrontation at a gas station and culminated in Vaughn being shot in the neck by career criminal Caleb Elledge. Elledge cut off his ankle monitor 10 months prior and had violated parole three times leading up to the shooting. What happens when the people we depend on for our safety find their lives hanging by a thread? We explore that question as Jeremy's wife, Victoria, recounts the agonizing moment she learned of the incident and the steps she took to ensure their son's safety. Her perspective offers a stark look at the personal toll these incidents take on the families of law enforcement officers. But this conversation doesn't stop at personal experiences; it takes a deep dive into the larger issues plaguing the law enforcement landscape. The Vaughns' story is a testament to the spirit of resilience, but it also underscores the need for systemic changes. Jeremy passionately discusses his frustrations with a justice system that often fails to hold serious criminals accountable. He emphasizes the importance of rigorous training, the need for increased respect for police, and the role of faith in shaping his perspective on his job. What can we, as a community, do to support those who risk it all for our safety? What does it take to ensure justice is served? Join us as Jeremy and Victoria Vaughn share their insights on these crucial issues.Website: https://www.nodoubtaboutitpodcast.com/Twitter: @nodoubtpodcastFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/NoDoubtAboutItPod/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/markronchettinm/?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ%3D%3D

BSF for Red Energy Crossing The Line by Nick McKenzie Mayflies: A Novel by Andrew O'Hagan Slow Horses on Apple TV+ Succession on Foxtel Showcase/Binge Pumpkin Lasagna with Burnt Butter & Sage Ingredients - 1.5kg kent pumpkin 100g butter - 1 bunch sage, leaves picked (20 leaves) - 500g ricotta - 200ml créme fraîche - 200g Parmesan, grated (Grana Padano or Parmigiano Reggiano) - 120g baby spinach, roughly chopped - 30g olive oil 3 shallots, finely diced 6 cloves garlic, finely chopped, sliced or grated 6 sprigs thyme, leaves picked 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar - 375g pack instant lasagne sheets - 400g fresh mozzarella, sliced Method - Preheat oven to 180°C. - Slice pumpkin into large wedges and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. - Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper, then bake for 30-45 minutes, until golden and tender. - Cook butter and sage over medium heat for a few minutes, until the butter is foamy and milk solids have browned. - Transfer to a large bowl, and stir through ricotta, créme fraîche, 150g Parmesan and baby spinach. Season to taste and set aside. - In your burnt butter pan, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté shallots, garlic and thyme until softened. - In a large bowl, mash the cooked pumpkin flesh (scoop out of it's skin) until smooth, but still with a little texture remaining, then stir through ¼ cup of water, shallot mix and apple cider vinegar and season to taste. - Rub oil on the base of a large oven dish (approx 25x40cm). - Assemble your lasagne in the following order of layers: pasta sheets, pumpkin mix, ricotta mix. Repeat until all the sauce and filling has been used. I did 5 layers of pasta, meaning ¼ of the pumpkin and ricotta mix used on each layer. Make sure the pasta sheets are fully submerged in sauce or they won't cook properly. - Top the final layer of pasta sheets with sliced mozzarella followed by remaining 50g Parmesan. Cover with foil and bake at 180°C for 50 minutes, until pasta is cooked through and lasagne is bubbling at the sides. If the baking dish is quite full and you think it might bubble over, put a foil lined tray underneath it in the oven to catch any drippings. - To finish, remove the foil and change the oven to the grill setting on high heat. Grill for 5-10 minutes, until the top is your perfect level of golden brown. Make sure you don't walk away from the grill (or if you do set timers for 30 seconds-1 minute) as it can burn quickly. - Remove from oven and let it settle for at least 10 mins (20 minutes is ideal), then serve! As the investigations pile up into who George Santos really is, one thing is certain: He is most definitely the poster boy for everything wrong with today's news media. The fact that Long Island is the scene of the crime makes it smart all the more. Our backyard, and the people who live here, deserve far better than what the news has been serving up. Let's unpack this. From CNN to The Atlantic, commentaries in the news over the past week have called out Long Island's news leader, Newsday, for missing this major Long Island story, which was broken by The New York Times. For those wondering why the dead tree sector carries the burden it's because historically, the news ecosystem has relied on newspapers to break the heavy stories, and looked to television and radio news to provide updates. But the talk of how Long Island news media, as a whole, missed this story isn't accurate, because one teeny, tiny local newspaper with a print circulation reported to be 3,200, put forth a scathing editorial in its Oct. 20 issue. It begins: "This newspaper would like to endorse a Republican for US Congress in NY3 (Oyster Bay, N Hempstead, NE Queens). But the GOP nominee - George Santos - is so bizarre, unprincipled and sketchy that we cannot." That opening paragraph from The North Shore Leader proved the kindest. The next five paragraphs detailed many of the issues for which Santos is now under investigation. So how is it The North Shore Leader -- with a masthead boasting a total of eight staffers -- had the goods on Santos? Maybe they paid attention to what the neighbors were saying. If word of Santos' ability to rock tall tales was long an open secret, why didn't that usher in scrutiny by the media before the election took place? Maybe the staff at The North Shore Leader paid attention to what was heard on the street instead of what was happening inside the media bubble. Maybe it didn't occur to them that size doesn't matter. Knowledge of the subject matter, dedication, and being able to follow a story wherever it leads has nothing to do with how many people are in a newsroom or the size of a budget. It does mean the reporters need to show up to find out what's actually going on and cultivate sources, instead of making a couple of calls from home and filing a story that fulfills a preconceived notion of what supposedly happened. Maybe they understand their role. For newsies who have forgotten, or for the newbies who have yet to be told: First and foremost, your job is to be the watchdog of government -- including elections, even those you're not interested in. You wrote this one off as being inconsequential? Lesson learned. Maybe they haven't given up on journalism. What today's modern media landscape is teeming with is what we can no longer afford, and the headlines in the newsfeeds continue to prove it. News coverage detailing what Santos said years ago that is now believed to be false only highlights the issue at hand: Journalism needs journalists, not stenographers posing as journalists. Despite all that, the fact is, the only way to find the editorial mentioned here is by knowing where to look. Long Island is home to some of the oldest newspapers in America, and it shows. The North Shore Leader is more than 70 years old and, like many of the local news outlets here, it uses its website to post pdfs of prior issues. This technological sin means the content is not readable by search engines and that, in this era, equates to the news being nonexistent. And that explains how this particular piece of news escaped the attention it deserved, but it doesn't explain the lack of journalism at large. Q-Pilled Iowan Doug Jensen speaks to the FBI. He is a January 6th capitol rioter who was seen in a viral video wearing a QAnon t-shirt and chasing a capitol police officer up several flights of stairs. He has since experienced a roller coaster of legal developments due to his inability to stay away from the internet. But thanks to recently released court documents, we now have a more full picture of Jensen's motivations and activities that day. They included a lengthy interview he conducted with the FBI just two days after the riot, on January 8th. It's an astonishing look at how QAnon seemingly spurred Doug Jensen into action.
