Jessie Reyez is a singer and songwriter originally from Toronto. She's won two of Canada's Juno awards, and she's been nominated for a Grammy. In addition to writing her own music, Jessie's been a songwriter on tracks by Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa, Sam Smith, Eminem, and many others. You're probably aware that there are songwriters and producers whose names you'll find over and over again in the credits for big hits; Jessie is one of them. But for this episode, I talked to her about her own song "Goliath." And the day that she wrote that song, she happened to be in the studio with a bunch of other songwriters and producers. So I also talked to Jordan and Stefan Johnson, from the production team Monsters & Strangerz, and Jeff Gitelman, AKA Gitty. Between the three of them, their credits also include songs by Selena Gomez, Maroon 5, Alicia Keys, Mac Miller, and again, tons more.When a group like this gets together to write music, they don't always know if they're going to be making a song that's going to get recorded and released by an artist somewhere down the line, or if the song's going to get recorded at all. Take a deep dive into the NTSB preliminary report of what happened when a taxiing Delta A350 struck and substantially damaged an Endeavor CRJ in Atlanta. Greg Feith, John Goglia and Todd Curtis examine the contributing factors, including crew distractions, limited visibility of the wingtip from the cockpit, and the layout of the taxiways.This event was one of three incidents involving Endeavor Airlines CRJs in a little over a year. Two Endeavor Airlines CRJ aircraft collided on the ground at LaGuardia Airport in New York in October. There was also a crash during landing of an Endeavor CRJ in Toronto in February.Greg calls attention to issues that could lead to operational incidents at Endeavor, including operation discipline and crew qualifications. However, there does not seem to be a common issue in the three events.Collision risk during taxiing is a concern for the maintenance community, some of whom taxi aircraft at airports. Taxiing aircraft is preferred over towing at some congested airports. John shares that during his career he did not receive any briefings or training in the hazardous areas of the airport for taxiing aircraft. Todd and Greg say that maintenance personnel would benefit from practicing taxi techniques in a simulator. I'm honoured to welcome a man whose life has been defined by service, mentorship, and an extraordinary commitment to Canadian boxing: Peter Wylie. Peter was born in Toronto in 1946 and went on to serve nearly two decades as a Toronto police officer, later working as a sheriff's officer and small-business owner. But his story — and his impact — extend far beyond any single career path. In 1972, Peter founded the Cabbagetown Youth Centre (CYC), a place that would become a second home for thousands of young people. He led the Centre for a decade and remained closely tied to it for generations, eventually being named Honourable Patron in 2022. But Peter's greatest legacy lives inside the ring. For 50 years, he served as the head boxing coach at the CYC, shaping a program that produced athletes, leaders, and countless stories of perseverance. His coaching career spanned the globe — from the 1980 Olympic boycott year, to the 1984 Los Angeles Games, to the Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and later his leadership of Canada's women's national boxing team from 2003 to 2007. In 1982, Peter was named Canada's Amateur Coach of the Year, and over the decades he stepped into nearly every role the sport could offer: referee, judge, trainer, manager, promoter — and even an actor in boxing-related film and television productions. Married since 1968, with three children and five grandchildren, Peter is officially “retired,” but the truth is his influence is still everywhere — in the gyms he built, the athletes he shaped, and the communities he helped uplift.
