After a four-year run on the show, Producer Jake is saying goodbye. (Although presumably he'll be saying "hello" again on some future episodes as a guest.) One of his predecessors, Producer Cale, joins us to see the lad off. Jay Zeroni, who's never been a GTAA producer but is still a good guy, joins us in the postgame for patrons. We're having some fun with our Season 7 finale before we take a break (at least from full episodes) for a couple weeks, and then we'll be back with some big format changes. Maybe we'll talk about some of that tonight!Meanwhile, if you live in or near Los Angeles, come out this Saturday to see Ben Burgis and Meagan Day chat with Danish parliamentarian (and leader of the Red-Green Alliance party) Pelle Dragsted about his book "Nordic Socialism." That's going to be Saturday, August 16th at 6 PM at the Village Well bookstore in Culver City, followed by drinks nearby afterward. Finally, not one but TWO new Capital classes will be starting on Labor Day weekend on the GTAA patreon. A new Capital Vol. 1 class (this time much slower, only a section a week instead of full chapters) will be starting on Saturday, August 30th and the long-promised Capital Vol. 2 class will be starting on Sunday, August 31st. Head over to patreon.com/benburgis if you want to sign up for either of those (or for the "GTAA University" tier where you get both at once).Follow Ben on Twitter: @BenBurgisFollow GTAA on Twitter: @Gtaa_ShowBecome a GTAA Patron and receive numerous benefits ranging from patron-exclusive postgames every Monday night to our undying love and gratitude for helping us keep this thing going:patreon.com/benburgisRead the weekly philosophy Substack:benburgis.substack.comVisit benburgis.com

How connected do you feel to your heart? How about to your cock? One of the advantages we have as coaches for men is that we seen the patterns that frequently show up for different men. We've noted three specific archetypes in our work and here, we go over them. (If you've ever heard me reference the heart/cock matrix, that's part of this episode.)Why does this matter? In large part because most women I know who are attracted to men (myself included) have a deep yearning to relate romantically with men who embody one specific archetype that we discuss here. We cover all three types of men, their differences, their paths, and the one that a lot of women crave from the depths of their being.(And while the themes in this episode are framed in a heterosexual/straight dating and relationship context, I believe there's a universal human longing involved here.)Come to the Retreat!Want to go deeper than the podcast? Join us LIVE for our yearly, in-person retreat. As of this episode dropping, we've got 4 slots left. We'll be in Northern California this Labor Day weekend, Aug 28th - Sept 1st, 2025. It won't do anything anyway.'""It's the ability to go to wherever we need to go in any given moment."

With over 200 fine artists, live music, kids’ activities, and even chalk art, it’s a can’t-miss event for art lovers and families alike. The Artist Market will feature works in every medium imaginable: oil, acrylic, pottery, jewelry, photography, and more. Artists will be on-site to chat about their process, and the beloved Painted Pots display returns with its stunning ceramic creations. For kids (and the young at heart), the Chalk Spot street art experience is back, hosted by Marietta High School’s Visual Arts Program and GPB. On Aug. 30, kids can claim a three-foot square of pavement for $10 and create their own masterpiece. Supplies and fair tickets are included while they last. Families can also explore Children’s Art Alley, packed with free crafts and games, plus face painting and sand art for a small fee. Hungry? Marietta Square’s restaurants will be open, and Glover Park Brewing will serve cold brews. Live music at the gazebo, sponsored by the North Georgia State Fair, will keep the energy high—bring a blanket or chair to relax and enjoy. The festival runs Aug. 30–Sept. 1, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with free admission. Parking is available at Marietta City Hall and nearby lots. For details, visit artparkmarietta.com. STORY 2: Marietta school board eyes AI guidelines in new technology plan The Marietta Board of Education is mulling over a new tech plan for 2025-2028, and it’s got some big ideas—AI guidelines, faster internet, and better tools for teachers. Jennifer Hernandez, the district’s academic achievement director, summed it up: “It’s about using tech to support teachers, not replace them.” The plan, shaped by feedback from teachers, parents, and community members, focuses on three areas: infrastructure, access, and support. Infrastructure? Think faster internet, updated equipment, and federal E-rate funding to keep it all running. “We don’t want to fall behind,” said tech director Torey Bradley. Access includes making learning platforms like Schoology easier to use and figuring out how to teach students and staff to use AI responsibly. Support will include a new professional learning hub with bite-sized training videos and resources for teachers and parents. The board plans to vote on the plan at its next meeting. STORY 3: Cobb officers recognized after saving children from 117-degree car  Cobb Police officers were recognized at the Georgia Capitol this week for saving two kids trapped in a sweltering car. On June 4, in the Cumberland Mall parking lot, bystanders spotted a boy and girl locked inside a vehicle and called 911. Officers arrived fast, smashed a window, and pulled the kids out. The car’s internal temperature? A staggering 117 degrees—on an 87-degree day. Gov. Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp commended the officers for their heroic actions. “This is what happens when citizens and officers work together,” the department shared on Facebook. The children’s guardian, J’quawn Dixon, was arrested and charged with leaving them in the car for 41 minutes without air conditioning. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info.  We’ll be right back. Break: COBB INT. FESITVAL STORY 4: Oregon Park to get new restroom, pickleball courts Oregon Park’s getting a serious glow-up, with $850,000 in upgrades greenlit by the Cobb Board of Commissioners. The unanimous vote tapped into Commissioner Keli Gambrill’s capital contingency fund—each commissioner gets $1 million for district projects. Gambrill called the improvements a “huge, huge impact.” What’s coming? Better ADA access, a much-needed extra restroom (parents, rejoice), and four new pickleball courts to add to the existing six. “Pickleball’s booming,” Gambrill said. The park, already a hotspot with baseball fields, tennis courts, and disc golf, sees over 13,000 kids for baseball alone. No timeline yet—officials are still ironing out details with the contractor. STORY 5: OUT AND ABOUT: 5 things to do this weekend in Cobb County — Aug. 15 - 17 Get ready for a packed weekend, folks—there’s something for everyone. First up, the Pigs and Peaches BBQ Festival is back in downtown Kennesaw this Friday and Saturday. Think smoky barbecue, live music, and all the good vibes at Depot Park. Admission? Free. This week, Mercury turns direct and enjoys not one, but two sextile opportunities with Mars. Saturn makes the second of three liberating sextiles to Uranus, and Venus and Jupiter make a delicious conjunction in Cancer. The Taurus Last Quarter Moon is a time to make some final decisions on those Leo New Moon wishes, and April answers a listener's question about the Midheaven in the Whole Sign House system. Plus: On the precipice, breaking chains, and overeating at dinner! Read a full transcript of this episode. Have a question you'd like answered on the show? Email April or leave it here! Subscribe to April's mailing list and get a free lunar workbook at each New Moon! Love the show? Make a donation! Timestamps [1:22] Mercury stations direct on Mon. Aug. 11 (12:30 AM PDT) at 4º14' Leo. Mercury began its retrograde period on July 17, 2025, at 15°34' Leo. While communication and travel may start to smooth out now, it's probably a good idea not to let your guard completely down just yet. Mercury also rules merchants and trade, so this can be a day when something shifts in your business or financial matters. Mercury turns direct on the Sabian symbol 5 Leo, Rock formations at the edge of a precipice. [3:51] Saturn sextiles Uranus on Mon. Aug. 11 (8:33 PM PDT) at 1º12' Aries-Gemini. This is the second of three sextiles that Saturn will make to Uranus. The first was back on April 4, 2025, and the final one in the series comes on Jan. 19, 2026. Saturn is a rule maker, Uranus a rule breaker. Uranus presents an opportunity for liberation. [5:52] Venus conjuncts Jupiter on Mon. Aug. 11 (10:30 PM PDT) at 14º03' Cancer. Jupiter is exalted (especially strong) in Cancer, and the Sabian symbol for this degree couldn't be more perfect: 15 Cancer, A group of people who have over eaten and enjoyed it. [7:55] This week, Mercury will make two separate sextile aspects to Mars. The first is on Thu. Aug. 14 (7:05 PM PDT) at 5º05' Leo-Libra. Energetic Mars has your mind working overtime. Watch out for arguments. [10:53] The second Mercury-Mars sextile Mars is on Sunday, Aug. 17 (10:33 PM PDT) at 7º04' Leo-Libra. Mind your words, channel any anger or frustration constructively. These Mercury-Mars sextiles bring sharp, energized, focused communication. [11:58] Moon Report! The Taurus Last Quarter Moon is on Fri. Aug. 15 (10:12 PM PDT) at 23º36' Taurus-Leo. It's the last action point following the Leo New Moon on July 24, 2025. This is a terrific Last Quarter Moon to take concrete steps toward your goals. Take stock, focus on what matters, and use this time to bring something meaningful into reality. [14:10] Lunar Phase Family Cycle (LPFC). This is the Last Quarter (final action point) in an LPFC that began on May 19, 2023, at 28º25' Taurus. The First Quarter (first action point) in this LPFC came on February 16, 2024, at 27º25' Taurus. The Full Moon (awareness point) in this LPFC was on Nov. 15, 2024, at 24º00' Taurus. This is the time to bring this LPFC to completion and place it into context. [16:22] Void-of-Course (VOC) Moon periods. The first VOC Moon period began last week on Sun. Aug. 10 (11:55 PM PDT), when the Moon made a trine to Jupiter and was VOC for 1 day, 3 hours and 38 minutes. It enters Aries this week on Tue. Aug. 12 (3:33 AM PDT). This is an emotionally healing time. Initiate a habit of expressing kindness and nourishment to all, and that includes yourself. [17:33] On Wed. Aug. 13 (3:54 PM PDT), the Moon in Aries trines the Sun. It's VOC for 14 hours, 28 minutes, and enters Taurus on Aug. 14 (6:22 AM PDT). Initiate a habit of practicing gratitude just for being alive on the planet. [18:37] On Fri. Aug. 15 (10:12 PM PDT), the Moon in Taurus squares the Sun. It's VOC for 10 hours and 49 minutes, then enters Gemini on Aug. 16 (9:01 AM PDT). The Moon in Taurus and the Sun in Leo share an appreciation for the finer things in life, but not everyone has millions of dollars to spend on fancy trinkets. Embrace the concept of “quiet luxury”, meaningful but inexpensive indulgences. [20:40] Listener Catherine asks about the Midheaven in the Whole Sign House system. [28:37] If you'd like to have a question answered on a future episode, leave a message of one minute or less at speakpipe.com/bigskyastrologypodcast or email april (at) bigskyastrology (dot) com; put “Podcast Question” in the subject line. Hey everybody, it is Luke Taylor of the Cross References podcast, thanks for hanging in there. The relaunch, reboot, reset of this podcast is underway. So you probably saw this in your podcast lineup and you thought: what's this? I don't remember subscribing to this podcast???This is the Book of Ezekiel: A Cross References Bible Study. Or, that's what was, but earlier this year, we finished the book of Ezekiel. And many of you encouraged me to keep this going but to dive into another book of Scripture, another prophet. Which means the name of the podcast needed to change. So here it is: God and His Prophets. Because I really like teaching the prophets of the Bible. I don't think they get enough attention. There's a lot in these books that I don't know about and that I'd like to discover. And so I'll let you take a front seat on the ride with me. So starting in September, the first Monday after Labor Day- which is September 8, 2025- we will start back into this podcast with a prophetic profile of Elijah. It's just a one-and-done. I might not even do it, but I just feel that the Lord has been showing me something this summer from the life of Elijah. If I can collect my thoughts on it, I'd like to share them with you. Then on September 15, we'll start into my favorite of the Minor Prophets: Zechariah. And from then on, the regular format of this podcast will be going verse-by-verse through various books of the Bible. It will go at about the pace that my Ezekiel study this past year. It's gonna take us 3 or 4 episodes just to get through chapter 1. And also like my Ezekiel study, we may take a week here and there to examine an issue that relates to what we're studying in Zechariah- or whatever book we find ourselves in in the future. So that's the plan. If you liked how the Ezekiel episodes have gone the past year, that same basic format will continue in the future for more books. That's the plan, anyway. James 4 tells us, 13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”So, if the Lord wills, that's the plan for the future of this podcast. If God wants to interrupt my plans with the rapture, that's fine, too. I won't complain. I even kinda hope that's the case.In the meantime, I continue to produce new episodes of Weird Stuff in the Bible. If you're subscribed here, I'm assuming you already like the Bible. So if you don't mind me making it a little weird, you can go check out the Weird Stuff in the Bible podcast. But if the Lord wills- if Jesus tarries- I'll be back right here as well, September 8, with a fresh look at some ancient prophets- and my prayer each time will still be that the Bible makes more sense to you after every episode.

This week on the Labor Radio Podcast Weekly: What happens when union leadership tries to shut down support for women, LGBTQ members, Black and Latino caucuses—all in the name of “compliance”? On the Labor Notes Podcast, the rank and file are pushing back inside the building trades, and they're not backing down. Then: over in Boston, the Pipe Up podcast is thinking outside the pipe—literally. If electricians can represent blackjack dealers, why can't plumbers organize chimney sweeps? We'll also hear from Working to Live in Southwest Washington, where delegates reflect on solidarity and strategy at the Washington State Labor Council convention. Why “everybody should be union”? Let's just say it starts with healthcare—and ends with dignity. From Cincinnati's Boiling Point to labor YouTubers calling for collectivization over corporatization, this week's shows aren't afraid to tackle the deep questions: Who gets a voice in our unions? What kind of future are we organizing for? And how do we fight disinformation at the hyperlocal level? And speaking of solidarity: you don't want to miss out on participating in the Unions Power America sweepstakes      ! It's your chance to win cash prizes—just for being union. In this final episode to the Summer Q&A Series, Nicole responds to a heartfelt question from a listener: “I feel the Holy Spirit urging me to speak, but I’ve been taught that women should not preach. How do I stay obedient to the Spirit?” Nicole unpacks Scripture—including the often-debated passages in 1 Corinthians—to explore how spiritual gifts are given to both men and women for the building up of the church. She highlights the difference between preaching and prophesying, and reminds listeners that obedience to God’s voice is never limited by human rules. Nicole also shares what’s coming this fall: a brand-new series on the book of Daniel, exploring how to live “right-side up” in an upside-down world. Don’t miss the preview at the end of the episode! Government. The Big G. We like to imagine the free market and the invisible hand as being independent from political influence. But Nobel laureate, Simon Johnson, says that influence has been there since the birth of economics. Call it political economy. Call it government and business. Call it our big topic each Wednesday through Labor Day. We're kicking off another semester of Planet Money Summer School asking the biggest question: Why are some nations rich and others poor? From a chair that killed 60 people to a haunted doll that demands written apologies, these stolen and cursed artifacts have exacted terrible revenge on those who dared to take them — through death, illness, and supernatural torment that forced their terrified owners to return them with desperate warnings to others.Join the DARKNESS SYNDICATE: https://weirddarkness.com/syndicateIN THIS EPISODE: It was Labor Day, 1980 when Cynthia Clements disappeared – it wouldn't be until more than a month later that her body would be found. And we still don't know who killed her. (The Unsolved Murder of Cynthia Clements) *** A harbinger of doom is a sign, a warning of bad things to come. A supernatural forerunner to disaster, you might say – which several do, in Canada. There, they are more than familiar with forerunners of disaster and have several examples they could point to from over the years. (Canada's Harbingers of Doom) *** Can you sue a schnauzer? Can you take a cat to court? Put a Terrier on trial? Can you arrest a mule for murder? You'd be surprised how many animals have been put on trial – and for what reasons! (Accused Critters In Court) *** Wilford Sweeten was found dead of food poisoning. Then across town, a pastor's wife was found dead of food poisoning as well. And that' when rumors already circulating in the small town of Ida, Illinois began to be confirmed – and the identities of the killers would shock people nationwide. (The Murdering Minister) *** It was probably said best by Old Time Radio's “The Shadow” when he said at the beginning of each episode, “The weed of crime bears bitter fruit… crime does not pay.” But true life criminals don't seem to be too concerned about that. Some thieves, however, did learn it the hard way – when they stole what turned out to be cursed relics… and paid the price for swiping them.
