Then the Yankees ‘started kicking the ball all over the place'. KFC from Barstool calls in to revel in the Yankees losing the World Series. He said he might stop rooting against the Yankees because it's not fun anymore because they always lose in the end. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of Ian Eagle as Garrett Wilson scored his first TD of the night. Jeff Ulbrich talked about getting his first win as head coach. Jerry accidentally said ‘early season sex' instead of ‘early season success' in regards to the Washington Commanders. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer's East Islip is playing Gio's Bellport in high school football.

Hour 1 The Jets got themselves a win in prime time. Garrett Wilson made an unbelievable catch but Boomer can't figure out how that was reversed and called a TD. Aaron Rodgers even found Davante Adams a few times including a TD. The first half of this game was very boring. Jets WR Corley had an easy TD but let go of the ball before crossing the goal line as some sort of celebration. So it was a touchback instead of a TD. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of Ian Eagle as the Jets beat the Texans. Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit channeled Phil Simms' ‘oh my gosh' after the great catch. Wilson didn't think he was in bounds at the time. The Jets sacked CJ Stroud 8 times. Anthony Richard talked about being benched for Joe Flacco. In the final segment of the hour, Gio may have a double secret leech spot. Both Joe Benigno and Big Zoo were at the Winters Bros Jets tailgate party. Hour 2 Eleven teams have already reached out to Juan Soto and we tried to figure out which teams they were. We also found out that Big Zoo took his girlfriend to the Jets tailgate and he has tickets to take her to Wicked. We wonder if he will show up to Broadway with a Knicks jersey on and his hairy armpits out. The cayenne pepper water must have worked in the second half last night for Aaron Rodgers. Jerry returns for an update but first Boomer makes him eat a piece of pie. Bill Belichick and his girlfriend dressed up for Halloween. Bill as a fisherman and his girlfriend as a mermaid. A caller tried to give Jerry hot sauce for B&G but said Jerry refused it. Jerry has the sound from Jets radio as Aaron Rodgers hooked up with Davante Adams for a TD. Shannon Sharpe, Ochocinco and JR Smith talked about Halloween candy. Evan Roberts accidentally said ‘Reese's penis-butter cup'. In the final segment of the hour, Gio gave out hundreds of candy bars yesterday. Boomer said Gio is living the American Dream out there. Gio doesn't like when teenagers show no creativity with their costumes. Hour 3 We played audio of Joe Kelly from the Dodgers after the game, saying that after they put Fat Joe on the board they knew they were winning. Hour 4 The Jets are clearly not winning the AFC East, but Boomer still thinks they can battle for a Wild Card spot. Gio isn't interested in talking about that until they get back to .500. We talked about the terrible pass defense of the Ravens and how when they get going to the playoffs they are going to have to score 40 points a game. Boomer still sounds confused as to why the Garrett Wilson catch was overturned and called a TD. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds from Ian Eagle as Garrett Wilson made an incredible catch and somehow stayed inbounds. It is driving Gio crazy. Aaron Rodgers talked about the win and is happy to be 3-6 instead of 2-7. The Jets defense sacked CJ Stroud 8 times. Anthony Richards talked about getting benched for Joe Flacco in Indianapolis. Joe Kelly of the Dodgers was excited when they put Fat Joe on the video screen. He knew they would come back and win after that. Moment of The Day was a live one, Gio doing the Eddie voice when discussing the Garrett Wilson catch. In the final segment of the week, our NFL picks.

Hear about travel to Long Island, New York as the Amateur Traveler talks to Vanessa Gordon from EastEndTasteMagazine.com about her home. https://amateurtraveler.com/travel-to-long-island-new-york/ Why should someone go to Long Island? Vanessa says, "Long Island, there truly is so to discover, even from living out here for many years, whether part-time or full-time there's truly so much to do, whether you're in Nassau or Suffolk County, the two counties that make up Long Island. I've lived here in the Hamptons, been here for over 30 years and this New York region never ceases to amaze me. There are ocean beaches. We have Bay beaches. We have beautiful nature preserves, bountiful farmers markets, and endless amounts of summer events." Vanessa suggests visiting Long Island in September or October, mentioning the abundance of events, family activities, and cultural events during these months. She shares her favorite spots in Montauk, including the Montauk Point Lighthouse and the opportunity for seal watching and whale sightings. Moving to Shelter Island, Vanessa recommends taking the ferry and exploring the island's unique attractions, such as Rams Head Inn and Mashomack Preserve. She also suggests Sunset Beach as a hotspot for live music and sunsets. Vanessa then talks about Sag Harbor, her favorite village, and its family-friendly beaches. She highlights The Beacon restaurant and Barron's Cove Hotel for breathtaking sunset views. The discussion extends to wineries on the North Fork, with recommendations like Wolfer Estate and Channing Daughters. She covers various family-friendly activities, including museums like the Parrish Art Museum and Guildhall and theaters such as Bay Street Theater. Vanessa mentions the presence of celebrities in the fall. The itinerary continues with a move to Riverhead, described as the gateway to the North Fork and South Fork. Vanessa appreciates the town's historic charm, new businesses, and attractions like the Long Island Aquarium. She highlights the East End food market as a one-stop shop for local food purveyors. Vanessa suggests considering staying in Brookhaven instead of the Hamptons to save on your travel budget. She highlights Patchogue on the Great South Bay as a vibrant spot, particularly for nightlife, and recommends Fire Island for its popularity among the LGBTQ+ community. She emphasizes historical sites like Fire Island Lighthouse and Bellport, suggesting the Bellport Inn as a cozy stay. Moving to the "Gold Coast" on the north shore, Vanessa mentions historic mansions like Teddy Roosevelt's Sagamore Hill, the Old Westbury Gardens, and Oheka Castle, the latter featured in a Taylor Swift music video. She advises dividing mansion visits over two days. Whether you are visiting Long Island on your yacht or by train, whether you are visiting mansions or living in one, this area near New York City offers a very different world to the city with its beaches, farms, and vineyards.

A tree-lined street running gently down to a flat blue bay, flanked by over two hundred years worth of American architecture. Bellport in all its glory, from its  founding by the Bell brothers through its growth as a waterfront resort destination and the ensuing years as a sleepy, forgotten village. But there came a time when the old place needed saving - when all the Greek Revivals and Victorians could have been razed or replaced with McMansions. Victor Principe's new book, Unhampton Preservation and the Happiness of Place in Bellport Village and Environs, documents the history of preservation in the area. On this episode, he discusses the importance of preserving a sense of place in an area, protecting streetscapes and historic districts as well as conserving the natural landscape. We also talk about the careful balance of forces needed to make historic preservation work, from dedicated individuals to willing political leaders to a commitment over time to following the plans and specific codes hammered out at the local level. In the early morning hours of January 11, 1975, 14-year-old Sherese Watson was murdered by strangulation after leaving a house party in Bellport, New York, and her body was found that evening in a field near the party. There were groupings of small stab wounds in her back, and a hair pick was found near her body. Over 20 alibi witnesses placed 17-year-old Keith Bush in the house party at the time of Sherese's death, but one alleged partygoer, Maxine Bell, gave a statement that she would one day recant: that she saw Sherese and Keith leaving together after 1 AM.  Ignoring a more compelling lead, Keith was tortured by detectives into signing a confession that he had not read which contained details that did not match reality. Keith recanted, but with  the signed statement, Bell's testimony, as well as detectives and a medical examiner who gave either false or erroneous testimony, Keith was convicted and sentenced to 20 years to life.To learn more and get involved, visit:https://www.trafford.com/en/bookstore/bookdetails/358402-POETIC-RAYS-VISIONARY-AND-MAGNETIChttps://www.tiktok.com/@ktbush5?lang=enhttps://www.nyls.edu/post-conviction-innocence-clinic/https://lavaforgood.com/with-jason-flom/Wrongful Conviction is a production of Lava for Good™ Podcasts in association with Signal Co. Ep 124: Marikit Santiago

Talking with Painters

Marikit Santiago is one of Australia's most impressive artists, combining a skilful representational painting technique with powerful imagery. Mythology, Disney, her Filipino heritage, religion, guilt, motherhood and family are examples of the subject matter she draws from and her upcoming show, 'For us sinners' at 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art in Sydney, is set to contain some of the most impactful work she has produced to date. What's equally striking is the contrast between her painting style and the surface on which she often chooses to paint: found cardboard, typically in the form of flattened packing boxes complete with rips, creases and packing tape! Marikit won the Art Gallery of NSW's Sulman prize in 2020 with her work ‘The Divine', a painting of her three children who were also her collaborators. We talk in this episode about how they contribute to her practice and why that collaboration is so important to her work. Apart from winning the Sulman, Marikit has been a finalist in many other prizes including the Archibald prize twice.  She has exhibited in 6 solo shows and her upcoming exhibition at 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art is her first institutional show. It is curated by Micheal Do and opens on 26 March 2022. We recorded this conversation in Marikit's garage studio with her stunning recent work, Thy Kingdom Come, leaning precariously against the easel. Rich with cultural and religious symbolism, as well as quite a few cartoon characters, the complex painting had been finished the day before our interview, after nine months' work. A short video of Marikit in her studio will also be uploaded to the Talking with Painters YouTube channel and this website soon. Green Stream Holdings Inc. (ticker symbol GSFI) an emerging leader in the solar utility and finance space, announces today what it believes to be a new era for Renewable Energy and its Solar Utilities/Financing model as stocks rise in advance of the inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States.Biden's agenda is to transition the U.S. from an economy reliant on fossil fuels to one driven by wind, solar and other renewable-energy sources. The shift from fossil-fuel companies to renewable-energy firms accelerated during the Trump administration, despite the president's vows to support the U.S. coal and petroleum industries.Big and small investors have moved their assets away from fossil-fuel producers and toward renewable energy companies. Big investors like BlackRock Inc., the world's largest asset manager, overseeing $7.8 trillion, have said they plan to take into account corporations' disclosures of environmental risks, including carbon footprints.According to Wells Fargo senior market strategist Scott Wren, quote, “Since the start of the year, cyclicals have outperformed, with energy gaining the most, up 15%, helped by higher oil prices. Financials were up 5.1%, and materials were up 4.4%. All of these cyclicals stocks have moved in advance of what we think will be a higher rate move. Rates have moved up to support that idea. We think they could go up quite a bit more over the course of the next several months.” End quote. As well, The iShares Global Clean Energy ETF, which tracks S&P Global's index of clean energy companies around the world, has risen by nearly 30% since July 2020. The fund's assets under management swelled to $1.2 billion from $431 million at the start of the year.GSFI CEO Eric Fain is encouraged by the increased opportunity Biden's new agenda could mean for companies like Green Stream Holdings. Quote, "I believe we are at the dawn of a new era for renewable energy and, in turn, an increased access to market with ability to expedite shareholder value as we cultivate new opportunities alongside our current projects in New York, including:160 Imlay street. We also do a post-mortem analysis of the 2020 election cycle and think forward to what will happen in 2021 and beyond. Paul Weiner is a 27-year-old artist who makes abstract paintings imbued with political and social meaning. Many of Weiner's violently obscured and distressed artworks grapple with the contemporary identity and history of the United States. He also makes sculptures, prints, and drawings that contain a library of political and cultural symbols. Aside from abstraction, his work is best known for addressing the American flag and the 2012 Aurora theater shooting, which occurred in his hometown. Weiner's recent text drawings address the COVID-19 pandemic, American activism's relationship to power, and social media's role in contemporary culture. Weiner's recent solo exhibitions include venues such as Krupic Kersting Gallery in Cologne, Nancy Littlejohn Fine Art in Houston, Carthage College in Kenosha, Long Road Projects in Jacksonville, and TWFINEART in Brisbane. His work was included in group exhibitions at Pablo's Birthday in New York, Athens Institute for Contemporary Art in Georgia, Museo Jumex in Mexico City, se! rum in Denmark, Delphian Gallery in London, Arvada Center in Colorado, Neuer Aachener Kunstverein in Germany, Re: Art in Brooklyn, Marquee Projects in Bellport, New York, and Mana Contemporary in Chicago among many others.
