Studio Soundtracks takes listeners behind the scenes of how music is crafted for film and television by hearing directly from composers, songwriters and music professionals in the Entertainment Industry. Listen to inspiring conversations about composition and hear works from Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar-winning film scores on the show. DAVE PORTER Dave Porter is a Los Angeles based composer for film and television. He began his classical musical training at the piano at age five, but it was his interest in electronic music as a teen that led him to start composing his own music. He studied both classical and electronic music composition at Sarah Lawrence College under John Yannelli and started his professional career as an assistant in Philip Glass' recording studio in New York City. Dave is perhaps best known for his enduring creative relationship with one of Hollywood's most respected figures – Vince Gilligan. Since the remarkable pilot episode of Breaking Bad in 2007, Dave has written the original music for all of Gilligan's projects. He scored all 62 episodes of that groundbreaking series and created its iconic opening theme. Actor/Producer Bryan Cranston stated: “With his music, Dave Porter has created another character for Breaking Bad. Evocative and meaningful, Dave's work is an essential part of the storytelling.” Since then, Dave has also been behind all of the original music for Breaking Bad's equally acclaimed spin-off, Better Call Saul, and helped bring the Breaking Bad universe to the big screen with his original score to Gilligan's feature film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. 2024 will kick off a new chapter In Dave's career — his first collaboration with Marvel Studios, Echo, will release on January 10th. The first project to be released under the new Marvel Spotlight banner, it will also be the first Marvel series with a TV-MA rating. “The Marvel team made me feel at home right away and have created a television series full of all of the hallmarks that inspire me — real stakes, emotions, consequences, and a world in which all of the characters are always learning and evolving,” said Porter on his collaboration with Marvel. Dave has twice been awarded ASCAP's Composer's Choice Award for Best Television Composer — at the inaugural event for the award in 2013, and once again in 2017. He was also bestowed the 2019 Citation Award by his alma mater Sarah Lawrence College for his creative achievements. DAVID FLEMING David Fleming is an American composer who has written music for film and television. His signature sound is rooted in a synth-heavy design that subverts traditional scores and creates unique soundscapes for each project, including HBO's The Last of Us, the Top 5 debut Amazon series, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, starring Donald Glover, and the upcoming Netflix epic fantasy feature Damsel, starring Millie Bobby Brown. Blue Planet II marked the start of a collaborative relationship with David and Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer, encompassing music for films such as Dune and Top Gun: Maverick. David has also collaborated with popular recording artists such as Lady Gaga, Elton John, Pharrell Williams, Camilla Cabello and Beyoncé, with whom he worked on the Grammy-nominated song Spirit, for The Lion King soundtrack. He is currently composing the score for Barry Levinson's Alto Knights, starring Robert De Niro as well as the documentary Jim Henson: Idea Man, directed by Ron Howard. All three films are slated for 2024 releases. TRACKLIST: Dave Porter – The First Choctaw (ECHO)David Fleming – Hi Hi (MR. & MRS. Documentaries such as Blue Planet and The Great Reef have brought new wonder and awareness into our living rooms. Former Royal Navy underwater bomb disposal expert turned submarine pilot Mark Taylor now explores the planet's oceans as an integral part of the subsea documentary filmmaking community. He has seen eels dip into lakes 750 metres under the ocean, witnessed mud volcanoes on the sea floor and come face to face with a giant squid 10 metres long with eyes the size of basketballs. He also spent many hours submersed with his childhood hero, Sir David Attenborough, filming for Blue Planet II and describes the comraderie and lifelong bond that resulted from it.Show notes: https://www.battingthebreeze.com/our-blue-planet-up-close-and-personalWe love receiving your feedback - head over to https://www.battingthebreeze.com/contact/ Thanks for listening!
I'm watching one of those David Attenborough-narrated nature documentaries, because it's my day and I get to do whatever stupid crap I want. I love these shows, especially the ones about the ocean, even if the information goes in one ear and out the other. I think I just like bobbing around in the water with those crazy guys, and marinating in Big Dave's raspy whispers. He's definitely a compelling narrator, and I even think he's probably pretty smart, if only from just actually reading the information I let wash over me like whale guts while researching carpet cleaners on my laptop. But within a few minutes of this one, he dumped out something like “We've explored more of Mars than we have the deep ocean, and blah blah blah”, which made me look up from the computer in shock. That's some dumb shit I would say, not you. You're British! Do something smart! Anyway enjoy YKS: the show that's sometimes just as smart as Blue Planet II. And don't forget to #EatLikeOsama. Music for YKS is courtesy of Howell Dawdy, Craig Dickman, Mr. Baloney, and Mark Brendle. Additional research by Zeke Golvin. YKS is edited by Producer Dan. Want more YKS? The only place for it is YKS Premium! Get ad-free episodes and a bunch of other episodes and mainly the draw there is more episodes, I guess. You have to like listening to our show to really get much out of the deal, which is unfortunate really; I think we'd do a lot better if it was, for instance, brand new Apple computers or extra medicine that people didn't use all of when they were sick or something like that. But as it is, enjoy us talking more on there for about $5/month. Athletic Greens - Did you know: Vitamins are actually good for you? Yes! Frozen Planet II and Blue Planet II are landmark natural history series and masterclasses in climate change storytelling. Via captivating sequences, charming characters and compelling stories, the viewer is deliberately drawn into a world that they can't help but care about, before being told about the very serious threats facing it. Such powerful storytelling can have a big impact; Blue Planet II, for example, persuaded people across the world to give up single-use plastics. But how are these films made? Who crafts the stories? And how do you engage people in the climate emergency without freaking them out? At Wildscreen film festival in Bristol, host Isla sat down with film-makers Rachel Butler Scott and Yoland Bosiger, producers who have worked on both Frozen Planet II and Blue Planet II among many other series, to chat about filming in the most remote and hostile environments on earth, diving under sea ice, and connecting people to life under the waves. "The Good Listening To" Podcast with me Chris Grimes! (aka a "GLT with me CG!")
Please welcome Bristol Broadcasting legend, new talent champion and curator of the "Upload Festival" Adam Crowther to The Good Listening To Podcast: The Story Behind Your Story Show! Adam Crowther presents BBC Upload 7-10pm every weekday on BBC Radio Bristol - which he's presented since October 2018.He has worked as a broadcaster and presenter across live events and radio as well as live streams and videos for BBC iPlayer. Adam has spent most of his presenting career championing, encouraging and celebrating new talent - from musicians to writers, comedians and bloggers, Adam loves celebrating talent.Adam is also an award winning social media expert. He's managed social media brand accounts for the BBC (BBC Radio Bristol, BBC Breakfast and BBC Introducing in Shropshire) as well as a children's charity in Birmingham. Adam has also created content for BBC Two and BBC masterbrand instagram accounts, covering premiers of Peaky Blinders and Blue Planet II.“ Today you are youThat is truer than trueThere is no one alive Who is you-er than you.” The one and only Adam Crowther is inspired by these simple words from Dr Seuss. The choice reveals a lot about the broadcaster and his 24 carat authenticity. He appreciates honesty, expressed in accessible language. He is not 'hoity-toity' and has never wanted to be either. OK, he was cheeky in school. Yes, he sang in a band. And yes at 16, he was chosen to show the Prime Minister - Tony Blair! - around his school. On request, he even made the PM a cup of tea, under strict security supervision. After university in Aberystwyth, where he studied Drama, Adam became a Youth Worker and grew into becoming a pioneer broadcaster with BBC Bristol via BRMB In Birmingham. And this, despite underselling himself relentlessly at his first interview. Adam learned his lesson quickly and by way of reference, quotes Ray Charles's mother in the biopic: “ I tell you once. I help you if you get it wrong. After that, you're on your own.“ Adam was allowed that second chance and made the most of it. He pioneered a new take on Social Media strategy and execution for the BBC. He co-created Upload. Over time he has become less shy about banging his own drum - without becoming a secret narcissist. He readily acknowledges the benign influences of his parents, teachers and professional role models. Adam replaced his self-doubt/can't-do stance with a more positive 'can-do' model. He is still only 30 something, now confident enough to be who he is - never happier than when helping others to thrive and shine. To discover their own voices! Adam confesses he is a perfectionist. He appreciates originality and has no time for the ‘near enough is good enough' approach. He knows he has been very lucky and now wants to help create similar luck for others. Adam recently identified himself as bisexual. It is a simple matter of fact. He knows he is a consummate professional, not a drama queen. This lively conversation will convince you of that, right from the start.

Gavin Thurston is the award-winning Blue Planet II and Planet Earth II cameraman who worked with Sir David Attenborough for over 20 projects. In this podcast, he shares with us the extraordinary and adventurous true stories of becoming a legendary cameraman. I met Gavin in Dubai on his book tour at Emirates Literature Festival, and instantly I was moved by his stories and his kind personality. Gavin has been a wildlife photographer for over thirty years. Against a backdrop of modern world history, he's lurked in the shadows of some of the world's remotest places in order to capture footage of the animal kingdom's finest: prides of lions, silverback gorillas, capuchin monkeys, brown bears, grey whales, penguins, mosquitoes - you name it he's filmed it. From journeys to the deepest depths of the Antarctic Ocean and the wide expanse of the Saharan deserts, to the peaks of the Himalayas and the wild forests of the Congo, Gavin's experiences describe much more than just the incredible array of animals he's filmed. He invites you to come inside the cameraman's hidden world and discover the hours spent patiently waiting for the protagonists to appear; the inevitable dangers in the wings and the challenges faced and overcome; and the heart-warming, life-affirming moments the cameras miss as well as capture. Hi,I’m excited to some extent to share a few things in this news episode… Mainly because my favourite environmentalist, Sir David Attenborough has not just created an Instagram account but even made a guinnesse world record for being the fastest to reach a million. We do discuss few other things before that, like the US president testing positive for corona, Nobel prize for medicine, mars being closes to earth, NASA astronaut voting from space and so much more!I hope you enjoy viewing this episode as much as I enjoyed making it…Thanks,
Surprise! In this special episode on change, our planet and sustainability, award winning producer for Blue Planet II, Orla Doherty, shares her incredibly unique perspective on our oceans. Orla made huge changes in her life to get to where she is today - her love for the ocean came later in life at the age of 30 when she learnt to scuba dive, but when she fell, she fell hard!! She went on to quit her job in London as a TV producer and spent 10 years on a boat exploring coral reefs. After returning to dry land, turning 40 and moving back in with her parents, she went on to marry her TV work with her ocean exploration experience and spent over 500 hours at depths of 1,000 metres in three oceans filming ‘The Deep’ and the series finale of Blue Planet II. The series was a huge success being the most watched TV series on the BBC in 2017 sparking conversations around the world about the effect of plastic on our oceans - known as the Blue Planet effect. Orla shares her phenomenal journey and her thoughts on the changes we need to make, the biggest challenges in effecting change and why she would happily live under the sea. This special bonus episode is sponsored by The Mercedes-Benz A-Class which is now available as a Plug-in Hybrid with an all-electric range of up to 44 miles. Gavin has been a wildlife photographer for over thirty years. During that time he's lurked in the shadows of some of the world's remotest places in order to capture footage of the animal kingdom's finest: prides of lions, silverback gorillas, capuchin monkeys, brown bears, grey whales, penguins, mosquitoes - you name it he's filmed it. Victoria Bromley is a wildlife filmmaker and part of the BBC’s natural history unit. She has produced some of their most recognisable programmes, including Spring Watch, Planet Earth Live and Blue Planet II. She’s worked to highlight the plight of the Siberian Tiger and most recently of the little-known Pangolin. Growing up in Coventry, Victoria learnt much from her grandad - an encyclopedia on birds, who signed her up for the WWF (the World Wildlife Fund, not that Wrestling nonsense) at the age of 7. Governed by an agenda of authenticity, Victoria relishes the opportunity to change perspectives, move people and have them engage with nature through filmmaking. She explores what really goes on behind the scenes of a wildlife documentary, and the joy of going back to basics when camping out. She particularly focuses on fond memories of getting under the skin of Mexico whilst filming in the country. A new parent, Victoria has great optimism for the next generation and admits parenting is not unlike natural history filmmaking... trying to predict the behaviours of an animal that can’t understand you, always up when the sun rises, and forever carrying a lot of equipment! the weekend show ep 22 | We discuss the Netflix documentary series 'Our Planet' from the makers of Planet Earth and Blue Planet.
As president and CEO of Bleeding Fingers Music and Extreme Music, Russell Emanuel is a trailblazing leader, innovator, and producer in the music industry. Bleeding Fingers is one of the leading producers of quality-crafted film and television scores in the world, bolstered by a unique creative association and business partnership with industry legend, Hans Zimmer, and his long-term business partner, Steve Kofsky. Russell’s vision for Bleeding Fingers led to a thriving collaboration with David Attenborough and BBC on the music for Planet Earth II – a score that contributed to the series’ record-breaking viewership, international acclaim, and BAFTA and Emmy nominations for Bleeding Fingers’ work. This paved the way to his most recent project - producing the score for the highly-anticipated BBC One natural history landmark, Blue Planet II, which premieres later this year. Alongside his work producing the series’ orchestral score, Russell creatively produced a track for the prequel, titled “(ocean) bloom,” featuring a collaboration with Radiohead, one of the world’s most acclaimed rock bands, and Hans Zimmer. Under Russell’s leadership, Bleeding Fingers has amassed an expert crew of over a dozen in-house composers leading to an unmatched balance of musical creativity, collaboration and efficiency. Bleeding Fingers’ music has strengthened countless projects, with their prolific and diverse output including scores featuring sweeping orchestral pieces, industrial rock and electronic sounds, Americana, and everything in between. Operating out of their twenty-studio Santa Monica facility on the same campus as Remote Control Productions, the company is producing carefully-tailored scores for some of the most acclaimed series on television. In addition to Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II, Bleeding Fingers’ musical efforts include Netflix’s Roman Empire, Amazon’s American Playboy, and Crackle’s Snatch. Before creating Bleeding Fingers, Russell had already made a name for himself as a titan within the composing industry, thanks to the tremendous success of Extreme Music, which he co-founded in 1997. Extreme Music was conceived as a business that would provide production music for projects that did not have access their own composers, while retaining incredibly high standards of passion and quality. The company soon became famous, not only for the music it offered, but also for the notorious punk energy and marketing that Russell channeled through the company (most famously, he sent condoms to numerous industry professionals, printed with the massage “the only safe thing you will ever get from us”). Russell grew the company to such a large success that it was purchased by SonyATV in 2008 for $110 million with Emanuel still remaining as the active CEO. Russell is not only an entrepreneur, but an experienced musician within his own right. For many years, he was a session musician, producer and manager, most notably managing The Jam and Stiff Little Fingers. He’s also collaborated with musical heavy-hitters such as George Martin, Snoop Dogg, Rodney Jerkins, and Quincy Jones, and spent an early stint of his career engineering at Abbey Road Studios. Russell currently lives in Los Angeles. When not working, he likes to perform with his twisted pop-hit cover band "Courtesy Flush,” ride his Harley Davidson and serve as a chauffeur and entertainment officer to his wife and five children.

Sir David Attenborough discusses Our Planet, his new eight-part series and Netflix debut, which explores the unique wonders of the natural world, from the Arctic wilderness to the diverse jungles of South America. In partnership with World Wildlife Fund, the series continues the conservation campaign raised by Attenborough's earlier series Blue Planet II. Steve explains how he has pioneered new ways of listening to the ocean and of interacting with fish (including underwater puppetry), to understand whole soundscapes and to unlock the language of fish. He also discusses his engagement with key marine industries, which aims to reduce and manage human noise pollution in the quest for quieter seas. Steve’s research was featured in David Attenborough’s Great Barrier Reef series in 2015, and his work on underwater noise pollution screened in the final Episode of Blue Planet II. Previously this series of talks was under the branding of Intrepid Explorers Exeter
For as long as they’ve existed, neighborhoods that pride themselves on their exclusive single-family housing landscape have fought back against the notion that they should be forced to change as their city population grows. Call it NIMBYism (not in my backyard) or call it neighborhood pride, but there’s no doubt that these conversations can dominate a local housing debate—and, depending on who you ask, they can be a harmful force that keeps our towns under glass, and affordable housing out of the reach of the citizens who need it most, in the neighborhoods that might provide the most opportunity. That’s why a few corners of the internet are abuzz about an interesting (if not entirely new) idea: a “cap-and-trade” system for single-family strongholds. Cap and trade systems are better known in the environmental policy sphere—think companies in high-polluting industries that face new government emissions limits paying a more sustainable company for the right to use their extra emissions credits that they’ve got lying around. But when applied to the housing conversation, single family neighborhoods aren’t looking to exceed a cap—they’re trading money for the right to keep a cap firmly on their population numbers. New Jersey, for instance, utilized a cap and trade system for twenty years, inspired by their Mount Laurel doctrine, which required all cities to produce a certain quota of affordable housing—even if those cities had a strong identity that didn’t include apartments and renters. Frustrated, they crafted a counter-proposal: gated communities and suburban enclaves could pay the poorer towns down the road to take on their share of the affordable housing mandate for them. The poor town got a little richer; the rich town continued on happily as a utopia of deep front yards and three-car garages. But according to some, this cap and trade arrangement isn’t a clear win-win. And if you believe a recent article from Planetizen, cap and trade systems may not work in the way that we think, and the reason why has to do with some complex psychology that might surprise you. In this episode of Upzoned, Kea and Chuck dive into this intellectually tricky and fascinating idea. Do cap and trade programs keep low income families out of the affluent neighborhoods, when moving the poor into richer areas has been proven to improve their health and financial outcomes for generations? Or is cap and trade a healthy way to move sorely needed capital into the neighborhoods that need it most? Check out their conversation, then weigh in with your thoughts in the comments. Then, in the Downzone, Chuck and Kea talk about the media that’s been filling their winter days. Chuck has been reading along with his eighth grader’s latest school assignment, the very moving Night by Elie Wiesel. And Kea is something of a new mom herself—she just adopted a brand new puppy—but in between cuddles and housebreaking sessions, she’s enjoying the gorgeously shot deep-sea nature documentary series, Blue Planet II.

In humans if you have two X chromosomes you are female and if you have an X and a Y then you are male. It is textbook science. But CrowdScience listener Du in Singapore has done some extra homework and found a piece of intriguing fish research which suggests a different outcome, at least for one species – tilapia, a popular fish on restaurant menus worldwide and as it happens, the first fish to visit space. Whilst humans couldn’t exist without an X-chromosome, tilapia apparently, can. In fact, they are happy with just two Y chromosomes. The existence of this odd breed comes down to the tilapia fish’s ability to change from male to female. Nature has come up with an array of bizarre solutions when it comes to sex determination and what sets you on one genetic path or another. And like with the tilapia fish, the decision isn't always for life. Some species of fish, lizards and even birds sidestep the chromosome system and morph between the sexes to survive a changing environment. How can they have both genetic sex pathways latent within them? And why can’t humans do the same trick? Introduction Recently watching “Blue Planet II.” Incredible documentary done by BBC. When you watch this documentary you begin to realize how absolutely massive the ocean is. 71% of the earth’s surface is covered by water; only 5% of the ocean has been explored. Its incredible to think about what new mysteries await us in the depths, and how those discoveries may very well change the way we look at the world. Yet, even more incredible, is how important a small
[Watch the video interview on our YouTube Channel] Nature documentaries are unique in that the score is more important than ever in creating a narrative structure as well as an emotional pull. This genre is one of the purest forms of image and music working hand in hand, with only narration there as a guide for the audience. With Blue Planet II, Jacob Shea and David Fleming worked alongside Hans Zimmer to craft a hugely powerful and affecting score that brought our aquatic world to vivid life. Learn a little about how Jacob and David worked as additional composers to gain experience. Hear them dissect the process of working on Blue Planet II, and what their approach was to create this sonic world for some of the most breathtaking footage ever captured for a nature documentary. We chat about the collaborative nature of working with Hans Zimmer, how they built thematic structure, and what it means to work on something important from an educational standpoint. Jacob and David are quickly blazing their own paths in the industry. Please enjoy this fun and inspiring discussion with two leading talents in the next generation of composers working today. A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to ‘curate the BBC’s Tweet of the Week’ archive. This meant I was given the chance to introduce the Tweet of the Day (daily birdsong) on BBC Radio 4 for two weeks. This was an incredible opportunity and I’d like to say a big thank you to Andrew Dawes, the Tweet of the Week producer, who invited me. This episode is a little behind the scenes glance at my day at BBC Radio Bristol. I managed to record a conversation with Andrew, a seasoned natural history producer, as well as with Emily Knight (@EmilyPKnight) and Becky Ripley (@Becky_Ripley), the presenters of the amazing Blue Planet II podcast. The Blue Planet II podcast is incredibly informative and fun and well worth having a listen to. You can hear the podcasts of my Tweet of the Week here (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p068w3tf) and here (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p069jt4n) on the BBC website. Welcome To The Party Pal: The Mind-Bending Film & Television Podcast You Didn't Know You Needed!
Welcome To The Party Pal returns with a true deep dive into BBC's Blue Planet II. Blue Planet II is a 2017 British nature documentary series on marine life produced by the BBC Natural History Unit. Like its predecessor, The Blue Planet (2001), it is narrated and presented by naturalist Sir David Attenborough, while the main music score was composed by Hans Zimmer. Using breakthroughs in science and cutting-edge technology to explore this final frontier, Blue Planet II presents compelling stories featuring astonishing characters, otherworldly places, and extraordinary animal behaviors. This episode of WTTPP presents an interview with Roger Horrocks, a renowned and extremely gifted wildlife cameraman who acts as one of the cinematographers on Blue Planet II. Roger has worked from the frozen poles to the tropical equator, specializing in immersive imagery of dynamic and fast moving animals and events. Roger is currently working on Our Planet, an eight part series for Netflix produced by Silverback Films, and Dolphin World for Disney Nature. On this podcast we explain the unexplainable. We solve the unsolvable. Our method is simple: We take the tiniest problem you might have, the grain of sand scratching at the back of your mind, and we roll it down a hill to see what it might pick up along the way, until that grain of sand has picked up dirt and sticks, until it's grown and grown, until it's the size of the Earth itself. Does that mean that any question, any problem, no matter how small or dumb, when properly spun out past its breaking point, can explain the important truths of life itself, of our existence on this planet? Probably not, but we'll keep trying for some reason. So ask away! Just don't ask us to explain this podcast. Fifty episodes in, it's abundantly clear that's one question we'll never answer. Discussed: Valentine's Day, Valentine's Boxing Day, what this podcast is, David Lynch, a Mythbuster, busting, Thimbleweed Park, real-life hint system, staying on the phone, Albert Brooks, the quantum physics of the universe, y'all, the Google/Facebook mega-matrix, Alexa, J.J. First sexual experience - checking the facts A short film for the Draw A Line campaign has made the claim that one in three girls first sexual experience is rape. This seems shockingly high, but what is the evidence? Is it just for the UK or a global figure? We go back to the reports that were used to source the claim, and find the research has been misinterpreted. How long can a shark go for without eating? A recent episode of Blue Planet II stated that after a large meal a Sixgill shark might not have to eat for 'up to an entire year'. Tim Harford speaks to Dr David Ebert, a shark expert who has studied the stomach contents of Sixgills over the years. And to Professor Alex Roger, a zoologist who advised the Blue Planet team, to try and find out how accurate the claim is and why the deep sea is still a mystery. The wonder of Prime Numbers Oxford mathematician Vicky Neale talks about her new book - Closing The Gap - and how mathematicians have striven to understand the patterns behind prime numbers. Multiple grannies A Swiss mummy has recently been identified as a distant ancestor of Boris Johnson. But some people have been getting tangled up over just how many great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandmothers the Foreign Secretary might have. We tackle an email from one listener - none other than the broadcaster Stephen Fry.
Blue Planet II is one of the most stunning visual achievements of the year. The new BBC America nature documentary takes viewers deep beneath the waves to observe strange creatures and the delicate balance that keeps the world's largest habitat in harmony. The miniseries is also a huge sonic accomplishment in representing the sounds of the sea. Crackling icebergs, creatures scuttling along the seafloor, and water washing along — they all contribute to a show that sounds like nothing else. Much of that is thanks to the music, composed by the team of Jacob Shea, David Fleming, and Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer. The series' musical themes evoke the undulation of the waves and the beauty of the undersea habitat. What Zimmer describes as the ocean's "epic" quality is evident throughout. Zimmer, Shea, and Fleming joined Todd this week to talk about writing the series' music, and after that conversation, he talks with series producers Orla Doherty, Mark Brownlow, and James Honeyborne about how the series captured some of the most dazzling images of the ocean ever put on film.
Emily Knight, one half of the team behind the recent Blue Planet II podcast, introduces this week's collection of episodes from wildlife cameraman Doug Allan.
Elindult az Agents of Shield 5. évad. Reméljük, találtak írókat a szünetben. Kint van a Dark első évada. Uncsi. (?) Gotham: trash, de jó! Félidő környékén a Supernatural 13. évad. Megy, megy, de azért öregszik. The Orville - végső pálcatörés az első évad végén. Vajon megkapja Seth a lehetőséget, hogy megtekintsük a második évadot is? Izgalom! Rejtély! Dráma! Véget ért a Mr. Robot 3. évad, és AZTAK*RVA! Khmm… szóval nem volt rossz, na! Marvel’s The Punisher Nézzétek meg a Siberia c. 2013-as sorozatot, de ne olvassatok utána semmit! Megemlékezünk a Lemony Snicket’s A series of unfortunate events első, nyomasztó évadáról. Beteg, elszállt, de végülis jó: Future Man. (Altered Carbon trailer.) Közben szóba került pár dolog: Megjelent a Frontiers Saga legújabb része (angolul). Megint kicsit nosztalgiázunk R. A. Salvatore műveivel kapcsolatban. Aztán egy gyors áttekintés a jövőre érkező filmekről! Csak a rövidített lista rövidítése: Avengers: Thanos Mindenkit Szopat előzetes. Pacific Rim: Uprising. Meglátjuk… Jó lesz-e a Tomb Raider? Jurassic World 2. M-I-É-R-T-?-?-? Nem sokára itt a Bright! A Wrinkle In Time előzetes. Mackey bácsi húga karatéjozik! Alita: Battle Angel trailer. I ask myself three questions on today's Ocean Talk Friday episode: 1) Will charging 3 men with animal cruelty deter others from hurting animals?; 2) Did Blue Planet II help save the Ocean by raising awareness? Was it designed to do that? 3) Did you know some Shrimp are injected with a chemical called CMC to make them look bigger? Ocean Talk Friday is all about dealing with human issues (as much of marine conservation is!). I start off today by talking about a 210,000 gallon oil leak of the Keystone Pipeline in South Dakota last week as well as some news about the Keystone XL pipeline construction. Next I talk about how we should use science communication for conservation via the Blue Planet II series and their assumption that a pilot whale calf died of toxins related plastic pollution in its mother's milk and how one scientist (and some conservative websites) picked up on the inaccuracy.
