Originally Aired 9/13/2018 Before Brass hit number one on the BGG charts the Snobs discussed both Brass games (like every other BG podcast likewise did). Is one superior over the other? Why does Jerry not consider them Euros? Was Gaby happy with his deluxe kickstarter game Rise of Tribes? Did Micheal Bay direct Con Air? These questions and more answered this episode. Probably not correctly, but they're answered nonetheless. Welcome to the latest episode of Cult of the Old! Each episode your hosts Iain McAllister, Matt Thrower, and Nate Owens are going to turn back the clock to look at games that are at least 10 years old. They'll give their own critical impressions, tell you about the history of the game and its impact, and what relevance these games still have in the modern hobby landscape. In this episode of Cult of the Old we visit the industrial revolution in England through the game Brass. With a new edition, called Brass:Lancashire, released through Roxley Games in the not too distant past, this game has caught the limelight again and reminded everyone what a powerhouse designer Martin Wallace is. The original release was through Warfrog Games. Artists who have worked on the game are Gavan Brown, Lina Cossette, Peter Dennis, David Forest, Eckhard Freytag, and Damien Mammoliti. Show Links Below are links to the games and anything else that the team mentions during the course of the cast. We will be linking to BGG for games, designers, artists, and publishers as that is a good place to start for raw information about the game in question. Warning: This podcast contains strong language and adult content Any other podcast would make a big song and dance about releasing their 50th episode. Not the boys from the PHC, because they weren't paying attention and didn't realise they had reached such a prestigious milestone. Instead they talk about four games that may well make their best of the year lists; Steve gets his arse handed to him by Arkham Horror 3rd Edition, Andy goes into a Deep Madness and Jon tackles Monolith Arena. Andy and Steve then quickly say how much they love Brass (Brarse), while Jon tackles the news and Steve's delves deep into his sack, mail sack that is. The Snobs discuss the two new Brass games. Is one superior over the other? Why does Jerry not consider them euros? Is Gaby happy with his deluxe kickstarter game Rise of Tribes? Did Micheal Bay direct Con Air? These questions and more answered this episode. Probably not correctly, but they're answered nonetheless. boardgamesnobs@gmail.com https://twitter.com/boardgamesnobs https://www.instagram.com/boardgamesnobs/

It's easy to get caught up in the cult of the new. So easy in fact, that we got caught up in the rerelease of an older game! Thank goodness, though, because Brass (a game Chris and Anthony both missed out on), is amazing. Which is why this week's episode is full of all things Brass. To kick things of, we ask At the table this week, Anthony dives into not only Brass: Lancashire (the update to the 2006 classic), but also Brass: Birmingham, a newer version with updated rules and new mechanics. Chris then looks at Rise of Fenris, the campaign expansion for Scythe. Excuses daarvoor. We gaan op zoek naar waar die bug in onze studio zich bevindt... 00:00 Intro / 00:37 Welkom (Denemarken & Cards Against Humanity) / 04:47 De spellen van Jumbo: Isidore, Okavango, Forbidden City, How to Rob a Bank / 48:05 Spellennieuws & Hotness: Root (Leder Games), Hail Hydra (Spin Master Ltd), Caverna: The Forgotten Folks (Lookout Games), Everdell (Starling Games), Brass: Lancashire 2018 Edition (Roxley Games), Discover: Lands Unknown (Fantasy Flights), Kickstarters Quined, Kingdomino Roll&Write, beursseizoen in België en Nederland, spellenprijs, naamsverandering Enigma, Kickstarter Chartered: The Golden Age van Jolly Dutch Productions, aankondiging HLG speeldag / 71:10 Afsluiting (toch nog meer nieuws) / 72:45 Outro / 73:20 Blooper (water) Meer details op onze Facebook pagina: https://www.facebook.com/HetLudiekeGezelschap Reageren? Ambie, Cassadi, and Crystal discuss Brass: Lancashire, Paperback, and Clank!: Sunken Treasures. We talk about board games that trap you or that you have to escape, and Crystal goes over the origins of the word "escape."
This week, we're digging into some of the games that have come out in the last 3 years that are worth a place in your essential games collection. Chris and Anthony both pick one game each from light, medium, and heavy weight euros to help you pick up some games that fit your next game night and that will always have a good place at the table. In addition to our weekly feature, Anthony digs into the Kickstarter for Brass: Lancashire and Brass: Birmingham, and Chris investigates Petrichor. We then discuss recent plays of Unfair and Fresco with its big box modules.
Dead Man's Doubloons: En Dead Man's Doubloons, nos convertiremos en ¿simpáticos piratas? ¡NO!
