Hello voices from the bench community, John Wilson here and I wanted to share some news about the evolution of the Programill lineup. Most importantly, Ivoclar's new PrograMill 7. What stands out right away is the reduced air consumption this mill requires, but what you'll notice first is that impressive new touchscreen. For us, the biggest advantage has been increased spindle power. Next time you see your Ivoclar representative, be sure to ask about the PrograMill 7 and tell them John Wilson sent you. Thank you. At exocad Insights in beautiful Mallorca, we finally caught up with Felix from Imagine USA—and the timing couldn't have been better. As an exocad dealer on the front lines of digital dentistry, Felix shared his excitement about the strong turnout, the familiar faces, and most importantly, the innovation coming from exocad. What stood out most? The new exocad Hub and its cloud-based capabilities, along with powerful AI-driven tools inside DentalDB designed for efficient batch processing. For Felix and the Imagine team, it's not just about seeing what's new—it's about putting it to the test. By running new features through their own production facility first, they ensure real-world performance before bringing solutions to their customers. This week, Elvis and Barb continue their coverage from exocad Insights 2026 in beautiful Mallorca, Spain, where the conversations are just as valuable as the lectures. The episode starts with Dr. Zhiqiang Luo, who shares his perspective on educating the next generation of dentists in an increasingly digital world. The discussion explores how students are adapting to technology, why foundational analog skills still matter, and the challenge of preparing future clinicians for workflows that continue to evolve at a rapid pace. It's an insightful look at where dental education is headed and how digital dentistry is becoming second nature to new graduates. The conversation then shifts to one of the most memorable encounters from the event as Elvis and Barb sit down with Alyson Bravo, a passionate dental technician from Brazil who has traveled across the globe to attend exocad Insights. What starts as a discussion about digital workflows quickly turns into a story about chasing dreams, making connections, and experiencing the international dental community firsthand. Alyson talks about discovering digital dentistry, teaching himself advanced design techniques, and the excitement of finally meeting people he has only known through podcasts, social media, and online education. The episode wraps up with returning friend of the podcast Tobias Specht from Ivoclar. Fresh off several major product announcements, Tobias gives listeners an inside look at the collaboration between Ivoclar and exocad and how customer feedback continues to shape product development. He discusses the integration of Ivotion into the exocad workflow, the importance of training and education, and how Ivoclar works with customers around the globe to refine new products before they ever reach the market.Special Guests: Alyson Bravo, Dr. Zhiqiang Luo, and Tobias Specht.

On this episode of The Brian Crombie Hour, host Brian Crombie is joined by global cyber risk and digital security expert Rafal Rohozinski for a deep dive into artificial intelligence, digital sovereignty, and the shifting global balance of power. The conversation explores how AI is rapidly evolving into a geopolitical force, reshaping international competition and national security. Rohozinski outlines how the United States and China are developing competing AI ecosystems, and why control of digital infrastructure is becoming as strategically important as energy once was. The discussion turns to Canada's vulnerability, highlighting its dependence on foreign-controlled digital infrastructure and limited share of global AI investment despite a strong research talent base. Crombie and Rohozinski examine what digital sovereignty could look like for Canada and whether national AI champions or targeted innovation strategies are needed to remain competitive. The episode also addresses the growing role of AI in warfare, including autonomous systems, drone technology, and the ethical challenges of removing humans from lethal decision-making. Despite these risks, Rohozinski argues Canada still has opportunities to build strength in specialized AI sectors such as healthcare, defense, and industrial applications. The conversation concludes with a central question: whether Canada will become a leading participant in the AI era — or remain a dependent user of foreign systems.

By running new features through their own production facility first, they ensure real-world performance before bringing solutions to their customers. Fresh off the beaches and lectures of the beautiful island of Mallorca at the exocad Insights 2026 , Elvis and Barb sat down with three incredible women proving that digital dentistry is global, creative, and fueled by passion. First up is Andreea Bordea, a ceramist and lab owner originally from Romania who found her way into dental technology after narrowly missing acceptance into dental school. From analog waxing and staining zirconia with a single A2 shade to opening her own lab in Spain and building a digital workflow around exocad, Andreea shares the journey of learning everything the hard way. She talks about teaching herself digital dentistry, building a team, and how social media unexpectedly became her outlet while working alone in her lab. The conversation also dives into Ivoclar materials, zirconia, and the excitement around new products launched at Insights. Then the microphones turn to Denisse Ramos from for one of the most energetic conversations of the event. Denisse talks about her journey from Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Coca-Cola into the dental industry, eventually becoming a major force in digital workflows, 3D printing, and equipment sales. From Dentsply to Desktop Health and now leading sales at New Stetic USA, Denisse shares stories about mentorship, industry evolution, women in dentistry, and why labs need to charge for their expertise. We all talk about the rise of digital dentistry, treatment planning frustrations, social media, the future of dentures, and the importance of giving back through organizations like Ladies of the Mill and the NADL. Finally, Elvis met Daniela Torres, better known online as “Danny Designer,” a digital designer from Chile whose Instagram portfolio turned into a thriving business. Daniela explains how she taught herself exocad through YouTube before traveling to Madrid for advanced training, eventually working at the MOD Institute in South Carolina before returning to Chile to build her own remote design business. From designing full arch restorations and dentures to handling dozens of cases a day entirely through email and WhatsApp, Daniela proves how powerful digital dentistry and social media have become for technicians worldwide. The conversation wraps with excitement around exocad's newest updates, the exocad Hub, and what it means to be recognized as an exocad Hero.Special Guests: Andreea Bordea, Daniela Torres, and Denisse Lasso Ramos.

Have an idea or tip? Send us a text!A four-lens 3D camera lab. A crash course in corporate chaos. A front-row seat to the switch from film and chemicals to digital video and modern production. Gary Pageau interviews Bryan Wetzel about his path from photography school into Nishika Corp.'s R&D lab, experimenting with lenticular 3D imaging, large-format printing, and early efforts toward computer-based 3D, plus shooting Nishika projects including an instructional video with Alan Thicke and a commercial with Little Richard. Wetzel takes us inside his time at Nishika, where lenticular 3D photography meant optical processes, experimental rigs, and constant problem-solving. From there, we dig into the realities of shooting and editing, why “fix it in post” can become an excuse for sloppy work, and how being early to digital created real opportunity when clients suddenly wanted faster workflows and better quality. Then the conversation widens to the business of media and entrepreneurship: why Georgia's transferable film tax incentives helped studios and crews actually take root, how Wetzel helped build a teacher-led educational video platform before online learning was polished, and what happened when he accidentally became a gym owner and later took over a restaurant right before lockdown. Along the way, Wetzel shares the most useful small business advice he learned from a no-nonsense mentor: say no without explaining yourself, don't fall in love with your business, and write the business plan before your heart lies to your head.Wetzel explains transitioning from still photography to video because corporate clients wouldn't fund film, adopting early digital editing and cameras in Georgia ahead of the 1996 Olympics, and building a corporate client base. He discusses Georgia's transferable film tax credits, then describes launching an educational-video company around 2008 that produced about 1,500–1,900 teacher-led videos and assessments for schools before being sold. He later acquired a gym (2017), briefly ran a restaurant through COVID-era challenges, sold it, and now writes books, sharing key business lessons on saying no, not overcommitting emotionally to a business, and writing realistic business plans.Energize your sales with Shareme.chat, the proven texting platform. ShareMe.Chat ShareMe.Chat platform uses chat-to-text on your website to keep your customers connected and buying!MediaclipMediaclip strives to continuously enhance the user experience while dramatically increasing revenue.Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREEIndependent Photo ImagersIPI is a member + trade association and a cooperative buying group in the photo + print industry.Photo Imaging CONNECTThe Photo Imaging CONNECT conference, March 2027, at the RIO Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas, NDisclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. Layla King discusses her impactful Girl Scout Gold Award project to restore Lincoln Cemetery, a historically Black cemetery in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Partnering with the organization Saving Our Ancestors Legacy (SOAL), Layla took a hands-on approach to preservation, learning to clean and level headstones using specialized solutions to ensure the names of those buried there remain visible to future generations. Beyond the physical labor, Layla utilized her leadership role in SkillsUSA to launch a school-wide awareness campaign and donor drive, successfully bridging the gap between spreading a message and inspiring community action. Her project not only honored local history but also paved the way for her current success as a computer science major at Howard University and the founder of her own web design business. More from Layla: I'm Layla King, a freshman Computer Science major attending Howard University. I've been involved in Girl Scouts since I was little (about 2013), starting as a Daisy and working my way up, then finishing as a Juliette to earn my Gold Award in 2025. Outside of Girl Scouts, I own a web design business called A Young Mindset, where my long-term goal is to build an agency that values more than profit. I want to invest in community service projects and provide unemployed people with the opportunity to learn web design through a training program and eventually work at my company. I want my business to be a tool for lifting others up. In college, I'm involved in Howard's Inaugural DECA Cohort, the College of Engineering & Architecture Council as an Advocacy & Inclusion Intern, and the National Society of Black Engineers. In high school, I played soccer and ran track, participated in FBLA (won 1st in PA for website design and 10th nationally), SkillsUSA as Vice President (placed 3rd in PA for web development and design), the National Honor Society as Co-President, the National Technical Honor Society, and Four Diamonds. Arkansas is being rapidly targeted by companies building AI and cloud data centers because of cheap land, lax regulations, and low utility costs. The state and local elected officials will scream that AI data centers bring in so many jobs and revenue to Arkansas but they won't tell you about:1. The extreme amount of water consumption needed for data centers for the cooling.2. Massive electricity demand that raises utility rates for working families, all of our utility rates will rise while the billion-dollar corporations running the centers will get discounts on their bills.3. Noise pollution that harms nearby residents, that makes our small communities unlivable or undesirable for residents.4. Environmental harm on rural and low-income communities5. They are dealing in corporate secrecy and little democratic oversight, none of their contracts have been made open to the public.6. Few permanent jobs relative to the harm they cause.7. Potential displacement due to land grabs and pressure on small towns. What happens when a tech leader with a background in democratizing design at companies like Figma turns their attention to architecture? This week, we're joined by Radhika Parashar Narain, Head of Marketing at Arcol, a software company reimagining how architects design and collaborate.Coming from the world of Software as a Service (SaaS), Radhika offers a fresh and insightful perspective on a profession she finds fascinatingly complex and creative, yet overdue for better tools. She shares her initial shock at the fragmented, inefficient, and often joyless workflows architects are forced to navigate. Radhika discusses the cultural and practical hurdles to tech adoption in an industry rooted in tradition, from the high "cost of change" after years spent learning legacy software to a scarcity mindset around collaboration. The conversation explores how Arcol, founded with a "Figma for BIM" ethos, aims to bring simplicity, accessibility, and collaboration to the earliest stages of design.Ultimately, Radhika's vision is not about disruption for its own sake, but about empowerment. She argues that by embracing intuitively designed, cloud-based tools, architects can reduce friction, foster collaboration, and rediscover the joy in their craft. Her hope is for architects to raise their standards for the software they use every day."My hope for the profession is for architects to have as high expectations as we have of the tools that we can foresee and we can kind of imagine can bring that joy back to the process." - Radhika Parashar NarainThis episode concludes with a call for the profession to see technology as a leverage point. Radhika encourages architects, especially students and smaller firms, to experiment early, build collaboration as a muscle, and use new tools to "punch above their weight." By democratizing access to powerful, well-designed software, the next generation can move beyond the limitations of legacy systems and focus on what they do best: creating the built world.Guest:Radhika Parashar Narain is the Head of Marketing at Arcol, a software company building a new generation of design and collaboration tools for architects. With a background in SaaS and design technology, including a tenure at Figma, she is passionate about empowering creators with better tools and making design more accessible to everyone. Is This Episode for You?This episode is for you if:✅ You are an architect frustrated with your current software and workflows. ✅ You are curious about how the mindset of Silicon Valley (SaaS) applies to the AEC industry. ✅ You want to understand the challenges and opportunities of tech adoption in architecture. ✅ You believe in the power of technology to democratize design and empower smaller firms. ✅ You are a student or educator looking for the next wave of tools that will shape the future of practice.
