She also explores the struggles of modern relationships and the impact of societal messaging on unrealistic expectations. Tune in to gain practical tools for navigating conflict, addressing past traumas, and practicing self-care for personal growth and healthier relationships. [00:00:06] Summary: Dr. Nicole Lepera, a holistic psychologist and author, is featured on the Dude Therapist podcast. They discuss various topics related to love, relationships, and personal growth. [00:03:29] Feeling disconnected, unfulfilled, and seeking change. [00:08:04] Increased awareness of relationship struggles. [00:12:33] Humans evolved in group-based living in villages with emotional connection and physical support. However, modern society has shifted towards relying on one primary partner for all needs, leading to frustration and disappointment. This pattern stems from early developmental experiences and the belief that the right person can fulfill all emotional needs. Society and culture also reinforce this idea. [00:16:09] Summary: The damaging beliefs and patterns in relationships need to be challenged and reframed. [00:20:11] Love requires intentional choices, and conflict is natural in relationships. Learning how to navigate and resolve conflicts is important to create a safe and secure environment for self-expression and growth. [00:24:15] Issues arise from conflicting beliefs. [00:27:46] Summary: Awareness of our nervous system's role in relationships and the ability to tolerate differences can lead to compassion and acceptance. [00:31:26] Value-driven differences can impact relationships. It's important to have open conversations about values early on to determine compatibility. Sometimes, a break or ending is necessary for personal growth. [00:35:16] Moving on from deep relationships requires grieving. [00:37:39] Summary: Consciousness and mindfulness are key to authentic relationships and personal growth. [00:42:17] Mindfulness is about being present and aware. It involves paying attention to our thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. We can make new choices and change by becoming conscious of our patterns and narratives. The conditioned self is a byproduct of these patterns, such as overachieving or people-pleasing. Breaking these patterns is challenging because they are deeply ingrained in our holistic model of being. [00:46:09] Beliefs shape our actions and identity. Ricky Williams has devoted his personal life and professional career to inspiring greatness, whether in himself, his teammates, or those around him.  Williams founded Highsman in 2021 to empower professional and everyday athletes as well as sports enthusiasts alike through cannabis. He brings a deep knowledge of herbs, sports and wellness to the brand. His belief in the healing properties of cannabis is intertwined with a distinguished football career, and he credits smoking herb as a way of coping with the challenges associated with being a professional athlete, from social anxiety to physical injuries.  His widely acclaimed football career began at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was named a two-time All American. Shortly after, he was drafted by the New Orleans Saints and continued an illustrious football career, known as one of the most electric running backs of the century. Most notably he played with the Miami Dolphins for the span of seven seasons. He faced two suspensions during his tenure due to the NFL's strict marijuana policy. He finished his career with over 10,000 rushing yards and 74 total touchdowns and retired in 2011 after playing his final season with the Baltimore Ravens. Williams was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2015.  No longer burdened by the NFL's marijuana policy after retirement, Williams began his professional journey into herb and wellness. In 2018 he co founded Real Wellness, an alternative health brand after studying Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine. This, along with his personal exploration of cannabis, paved the way for the launch of Highsman.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thedudetherapist/support

We chatted with him about what drew him to psychotherapy, and what he finds so special about helping people. He opened up about how hearing people's difficult stories affects him, and the self-care he follows to stay grounded as a therapist. He then delves into what it's like working specifically in couple's therapy, and where he fits into the equation as a therapist. He celebrates the beauty of love, and the opportunity he has to help people figure out the puzzles of their relationships. He lets us on in the ingredients of a healthy relationship, and the top signs that a relationship isn't going to work out. We dig deeper and talk about the significance of cheating, and if a relationship can genuinely be salvaged after cheating occurs. We then shift to the struggles of being single - especially in the Jewish community - and how to work on ourselves during singlehood by finding out what we need. He tells us more about why he started a podcast about mental health, and how many amazing people he's had the opportunity of meeting and connecting with through his podcast. We discuss how Eli is able to manage his busy schedule and his mental health along with being a husband and a father. Apparently, Shabbat plays a major role in keeping him grounded. I simply love connecting with people that I don't fully know their entire storyline. Last year with the Fit in Faith podcast, I only interviewed people that I knew, that I trusted, that I was able to even have in person. And before COVID, thank you, Jesus, for the idea, I felt going into 2020 I wanted to interview people from around the globe and it has just opened my eyes to so much. It gave me the opportunity to see how other people are activating and their own version of illumination, as well as how their faith is presented in their life and in their storyline, and all of the different components of their health.   Today's guest, Eli Weinstein, is an incredible man of God, an incredible man of wisdom, an incredible man of just knowledge and intellect and also heart. And I love that he's a real guy. He's a therapist, and so often you think "doctor." And yet his podcast is called The Dude Therapist, which makes him so relatable. He is a new dad, a husband, and a public speaker. And he just has so many well-rounded pieces of who he is.   And in this episode, he shares a lot about how that was developed and what personality traits led him to the career path that he has today. We talked a lot about emotional intelligence, which is something I'm currently learning a lot about and something he knows a lot about. So it was neat to hear his perspective as well. And so I would just encourage you if you are looking to just establish, maybe re-establish your mental health, your understanding of self, of others and the environment, this is an incredible podcast to round out your 2020 and give you fresh perspective, fresh desire to step in to this next season with just hope and grace for other people. And so I am so grateful for him to be on the show. He's got Elivation and I'll tag all of his stuff here. But you've got to tune in to what he's got going on.    Guest Bio: Eli is a Social Work therapist who has worked in a psych hospital, intense outpatient clinic and currently works in a community clinic in queens. He created ELIvation to fill a need to help those in struggling times and add extra inspiration and motivation into everyday life. Eli has been featured on Kelly Clarkson show, IVF Warrior, Fruitful, Breaking Taboo and on multiple podcasts ranging from parenting, relationships, mental health, and infertility.   His main goal is to help people on their journey to add support, care, empathy, expertise, and insight. He runs events, seminars, and individual coaching on topics from mental health awareness, public speaking coaching, relationship coaching, and confidence-boosting.   Connect with Eli: https://www.elivation.org/ https://www.instagram.com/elivation_therapist/ https://thedudetherapist.buzzsprout.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/eli-weinstein-lmsw-95a0a26a/   Connect with me, Tamra Andress - The Fit in Faith Podcast Host!
