How do you balance his edge with making him someone readers want to follow? With Manchester Black entering the picture, what excites you about putting those two characters in conflict specifically? Any Superman elements/tropes you want to touch? Iron Man You've said Tony Stark is one of your favorite characters. What's something about Tony that you feel hasn't been explored enough in past runs? Madame Masque and A.I.M. feel like they're operating at a higher level here. What makes them the right villains for this phase of the story? Read transcriptLook, at some point you have to respect the audacity of putting the entire Justice League on a Game Boy Advance cartridge. Not one hero. Not two heroes doing a buddy-cop thing. The whole league. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the works. All crammed onto a handheld that also had to share shelf space with Hamtaro games. That's ambition. That's vision. That might also be a cry for help, but we're not here to judge. Justice League Chronicles was Ubisoft's love letter to the animated series, which means it had genuinely great source material to pull from and a screen roughly the size of a Post-it note to work with. The Justice League animated series was the kind of show that made you sit down and watch it with your kids because it was actually that good, and somehow that energy had to survive the trip to a device that ran on two AA batteries. Here to help make sense of it all is Doug Adamson from The Monitor Tapes, a man whose podcast is literally named after the thing the Justice League uses to watch for trouble. Which means he was cosmically destined to appear on this episode whether he wanted to or not. Armed with the powers of the Greek Gods, and the awesome capacity to win the day with love andcompassion, Wonder Woman was an instant hit with four color readers.By 1943, the Amazon Princess was appearing regularly in "Sensation Comics", "Wonder Woman", and "Comic Cavalcade".Wonder Woman was going toe to toe with the big boys on the block--Superman, Batman and Captain Marvel! And when almost all the heroes fell into obscurity bythe early 1950's, Wonder Woman kept pace with only two other survivors--The Man of Steel and The Dark Knight Detective.   In the following decades, Wonder Woman's star would shine and dim. Its orbit caught in the vagaries of current tastes and trends.But there came a time when one legend was due to meet head on with another; a living legend of the comic book industry who had previously made his mark on such books as "The New Teen Titans", "The Fantastic Four", and "The Avengers". We talk about why, as kids, we were so obsessed with where these heroes came from—so much so that Marvel and DC built entire issues around origin stories. We debate the scientific accuracy behind how our favorite characters gained their abilities, while also exploring what truly motivates them. For instance, Batman and Spider-Man are driven by loss, while Captain America and Wonder Woman are fueled by duty and a sense of mission. Along the way, we ask a few questions: Have certain superhero origins been rebooted too many times? Do heroes like Zatanna and Ghost Rider feel less “super” because their origins are rooted in magic and the occult?
