Today's conversation is intended to encourage you to start to evaluate how connected you are to your body. Be inspired by this personal conversation about how healing from traumatic events is possible and realistically how it looks in life.  Hear the personal story of Lindsay Yoakum, a student and yoga teacher who learned self-expression and healing through movement and yoga. This conversation isn't about fitness it's about healing from your past and learning how to disconnect from the head and get into the body. It is important to remember that everyone's experience is different and you need a safe space to process trauma or even learn to connect with your body again. Here are some of the things Lindsey shares with us today:Her personal story and events that led her to be disconnected from her body such as her history of disordered eating, family systems, and her sexualityThe event that led her to realize that her body didn't feel safe and the trauma responses her body was showing herHer coming out experience and the impact it had on feeling safe in her body and coming to terms with her sexualityLearning to use movement as a tool for healing not punishing Turning off the emotional faucetThe importance of having choiceThe importance of having a place to process thingsHealing is not a quick processHow to incorporate getting into your body with your favorite movement toolHer favorite fight, flight or freeze tools that help  her in the moment to ground herselfAbout Lindsay:Lindsey's journey started about 8 years ago when she began recovery from an eating disorder that had consumed her teenage years and left her profoundly disconnected from her physical, emotional, and spiritual body. Movement has helped her learn that she is capable of staying in her body during moments of intensity or discomfort and it has taught her that she and her body are on the same team. Her teaching philosophy is to provide a safe and inclusive space designed to give students the freedom to come as they are, and to provide a safe and open dialogue of taking up space and using the breath and body to move through emotions while staying in the present moment. Connect with Loren on Instagram |  Facebook | BlogTranscripts: Read the full transcript Hang out with Lindsey: Instagram Just in case:National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: The Lifeline provides 24-hour, toll-free, and confidential support to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. Anne Fortier is the author of two international best-selling dual timeline mysteries that dig deep into our favorite stories, stories that are deep in the psyche of Western culture. First in Juliet, exploring the Romeo and Juliet tragedy, and then in The Lost Sisterhood, the single-breasted Amazons of antiquity and asking, is there a secret Amazon chapter still operating out there, a bit like a female Knights of the Templar? They're fanciful, inspirational books and Anne was a delightful interview subject. I would never have known about her except for a recommendation from one of our Binge Reading fans, Tracy.  A big shout out to you Tracy for suggesting we talk to Anne. I am sure you will enjoy the result. It's so good to have you with us. Anne Fortier: Thanks so much, Jenny. It's wonderful to talk with you. Jenny Wheeler: I think perhaps this might be the furthest that we have reached in the show, because you're talking from Denmark and I'm in New Zealand, so that's got a lovely feel to it. Anne Fortier: I think it's wonderful. It is always a little bit confusing with the time zone, but when we meet in literature, there is no time zone, there's no day and night. We are just in this special space together, and I love that space. Jenny Wheeler: You have got two wonderful books to your credit. They have both been international best sellers. We will get onto talking about them. Both of them have a very original premise that the story is hung around, and it impresses me that you are a person who has a spirited approach to your writing, and so I was captivated by this quote that was in the back of one of your books. An editor told you once there are no happy endings in good literature and you say, I knew I would never write good literature at that point. I think you were only a very young person when this exchange took place. Tell us about that. Anne Fortier: I was one of those children who was a little bit eccentric.

Blanche d'Alpuget became fascinated with the 12th century as a teenager, but it took another 50 years before she was inspired to write a five-book series about the first Plantagenet King of England, King Henry II and his superstar wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine, the richest woman in Europe at that time. Between the two of them, they were two of the most outstanding monarchs England has ever had. I say inspired because when she talks about writing the series, she says that she sat down at her laptop and became totally immersed in the Plantagenet world for hours on end. Hi there, I'm your host, Jenny Wheeler, and today in The Joys of Binge Reading Blanche talks about how the Plantagenets are attracting new attention from historians after years of having their reputations sullied by Murder in The Cathedral and T. But now, here's Blanche. Jenny Wheeler: Hello there Blanche, and welcome to the show. It is wonderful to have you with us. Blanche d'Alpuget: Thank you very much, Jenny. It's really generous of you. Blanche d'Alpuget, author of historical mystery series on the Plantagenet line Jenny Wheeler: You have had a remarkable career as a journalist and novelist, and in public life as the wife of former Australian Prime Minister, Bob Hawke. But today we're here to talk about your latest masterpiece, the historical fiction series around the first generation of Plantagenet Kings – the founding family who, in various guises, dominated the life of England for 300 years. You have written a number of award-winning contemporary literary novels in your earlier career, but this is quite a departure in terms of being a historical work and also being more in the line of genre fiction. What drew you to this rambunctious family? Blanche d'Alpuget: In my late teens I was absolutely fascinated by the 12th century. I bought a whole lot of little books about it, which have now disappeared from print, from a tiny little bookshop in a lane in Sydney, and that has also disappeared. All the lanes have been covered over in Sydney just about. I had what ended up being a very big collection of stuff about the 12th century, and when I wanted to turn to writing again after a long break from writing fiction, I first thought, as one does when thinking of the 12th century and great characters, of Richard I, Richard the Lionheart. I did quite a bit of reading on him, and then I thought, I really hate this guy. I still do. Hooked on Henry. Henry II that is, one of England's greatest Kings Then I thought, I'll look at his father, and that was it. I started to read about Richard's father, Henry II, and I was totally hooked.

It's equal part relatable and inspirational for anyone trying to live life a little fitter every day. But she's much more - she's the head of marketing and operations and HRX and I have never seen anyone embody a company and its ethos more than her. Pip Drysdale has three bestselling psychological thrillers to her credit. Her latest, The Paris Affair, features Harper, an online journalist who goes to the City of Love to get over a broken heart and finds herself on the trail of a murderer – and the scoop of a lifetime. And as The Paris Affair's tagline suggests: She thinks love can kill you. It turns out she might be right. Hi there, I'm your host Jenny Wheeler and on Binge Reading today Pip talks about the passion she shares with Harper for murder podcasts, the deep level research she does for her edgy thrillers, and her earlier career as an actor, musician and song writer. Pip Drysdale - Thriller author Pip Drysdale: Thanks so much for having me. Jenny Wheeler: The Paris Affair is your third psychological thriller. The two previous books have both been bestsellers, and in this one your protagonist, Harper, goes off to Paris to put a broken love affair behind her. She is going to start a new life as an arts journalist, but very quickly finds herself on the trail of a murderer and the scoop of a lifetime. Tell us how you came to start writing this particular story. Pip Drysdale: I wanted to write a book about a woman who didn't believe in love and didn't want love but moved to the City of Love. I wanted to incorporate the true crime podcast into it, because I feel so many of us listen to those, and there are deep reasons for that. I wanted to show a side of Paris that wasn't necessarily always shown in film and TV, so I take a very postcard perfect part of Paris – Saint-Germain-des-Prés – and then flip it on its head. Jenny Wheeler: We want to talk about the book without giving away any spoilers. There are so many great plot twists that we don't want to spoil any of it for anybody, so let's start by examining Harper's state of mind at the book opening. There is this hilarious opening scene where she is exercising her superpower of getting rid of a man in three minutes. Tell us how she has perfected that particular superpower. Superpower for getting rid of men Pip Drysdale: Harper has learnt the hard way that it is not always the best move to bruise a guy's ego, and so she has found a way to get rid of them by making them think that it's their idea. She acts super clingy and then they don't want to see her anymore. She gets what she wants, which is never to see them again, but they think it was their idea, so they don't get angry. Jenny Wheeler: She gets what she wants because she hasn't yet decided in her head that she doesn't want to have a relationship, but there is a little struggle going on inside her when she does it as well, isn't there? Pip Drysdale: Of course, because she's not a psychopath. She doesn't want to harm anyone. She quite frightened of love. Deep down Harper is terrified of love and what it could do to her, mainly because her mother has gone through a string of relationships as she was growing up and she has seen he...

Farnoosh Torabi grew up talking about money. Her parents are from the Middle East, and in her culture, they “never miss a moment to talk about money.”As the go-to girl for finance advice among her friends, imagine her surprise when she sat down and looked at her financial situation to discover tens of thousands of dollars in credit card debt! Farnoosh realized that paying for everything with a card, then paying the minimum balances didn’t lead to debt free life. Not wanting to continue a life of debt - mainly so she wouldn’t have to tell her mom - she hustled during school. Taking class notes and selling them on her school’s notes system, babysitting, bird sitting, anything that would generate income so she could throw money at her debt and pay it off.Graduation took her to New York City and a stroke of luck found her a shared apartment with a married couple for $500 a month. Definitely less than she could find on her own. She started off making very little, and strategically increased her income to offset the fact that she “isn’t a good saver.”Farnoosh has parlayed her own financial knowledge into a career teaching others how to manage their own finances. From books, to podcasts, to television, Farnoosh is everywhere, educating this oh-so-important skill so that others can work toward their own financial freedom. In This Episode We Cover:Farnoosh's journey with moneyWhere she learned about moneyTalking about her money behaviourHow she got rid of her debtHer approach on accumulating her assetsHow real estate helped herHer advice on people who are in a relationshipThe leading cause of a divorceThe right time for people who are just starting to date to talk about moneyWhat her asset allocation looks likeAnd SO much more!Links from the ShowBiggerPockets Money Facebook GroupFinConNextAdvisor with TIME | Smart Money MovesBiggerPockets Money Podcast 119BiggerPockets Forums

For more enlightening movie reviews, videos, audios, and much more, subscribe at https://mwge.org.HerHer is a practical movie for showing the shifts that are needed to loosen from body identification, and face the fear of opening up beyond physical connection into the intimacy of mind. In this movie, Theodore acquires an operating system called Samantha and enters into a relationship with “her” that progresses from romantic to quantum. The fear of divine love is the fear of disappearing; it is the ego’s fear of obliteration. Spirit uses vibrational connection to inspire us to drop our masks and get closer to one another to experience our Christ self. The sharing of feelings and thoughts without filters leads into feelings of deeper joining and connectedness. The real purpose of every relationship is to become aware of what is arising in consciousness in order to heal it; this is how we start to experience our innocence. Sometimes when a relationship ends, the ego analyzes what we did using hindsight; It wants to say, “you should have done it differently.” All “should haves” are hypotheticals reflecting the belief in many possibilities. When guilt or darkness arise, the ego wants to judge them as failure. But we are not responsible for the error, we are only responsible for accepting the correction—that we are innocent Now.This movie penetrates the conditioned belief that love needs to look a certain way. The fairy tale fantasies condition us to believe we can find love in form. We are searching in form for the intimacy that we believe we have lost; that intimacy with God. We keep seeking and not finding. The ritual of seeking in bodies gets played out over and over in the world, and it is never satisfying. The mind goes into guilt when it believes it is a body. The ego generated the body as a projection and then it projects the guilt out of the mind and onto the body. You have no control over the world or the bodies that the ego made. You can, however, control the direction of your thinking; pull your mind from ego thoughts and come back into alignment with God.Recorded at La Casa de Milagros, Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico on the 11th of November, 2017.For more enlightening movie reviews, videos, audios, and much more, subscribe athttps://mwge.org
