So often when businesses fail to meet their revenue targets, the CEO asks leadership what happened. The finger pointing starts. “Marketing isn't giving us enough leads!” “Sales isn't closing the leads we give them!” It doesn't have to be this way. As a B2B sales and marketing leader, I have built aligned GTM teams that focus on outcome-driven goals - opportunities and pipeline - and I structure organizations and workflows to remove the silos and encourage collaboration and cooperation throughout the lead to pipeline to closed-won business. I've seen the dysfunction from both the marketing and sales sides. I've seen the silos. I founded What Great Looks Like to bring greatness to your business. Call me when you want a thorough assessment of your GTM function, covering product marketing, demand generation, brand, customer marketing, marketing operations, and organizational structure. When you want to scale your business and align your teams to win!   Gary's Glossary of Acronyms: •    OKR - Objectives and Key Results (impactful, outcome-driven metrics that deliver business results) •    KPI - Key Performance Indicators (often thought of as key leading indicators as to whether OKRs will be met) •    SDR - sales development representative •    BDR - business development representative (however they're named, people in these roles are responsible for creating qualified opportunities that result in a pipeline for the business.) •    AE - account executive (the salesperson responsible for running with and closing opportunities) •    MQL - Marketing qualified lead (this is a KPI that indicates a person's engagement with marketing content or activities. Often confused with a person who's ready to buy.) •    SQL - Sales qualified lead (this is a person who has been qualified by a BDR to be in market and potentially ready to buy, pending further qualification in an IQM). •    IQM - initial qualifying meeting (a meeting set by a BDR, including the AE and the prospective customer. This is where the AE decides that there's a qualified opportunity to enter into the CRM system) •    CRM - customer relationship management (this is software that allows companies to track prospective and existing customers and all of the interactions with those companies and people at those companies)      About Salesology®: Conversations with Sales Leaders Download your free gift, The Salesology® Vault. The vault is packed full of free gifts from sales leaders, sales experts, marketing gurus and revenue generation experts.  Download your free gift, 81 Tools to Grow Your Sales & Your Business Faster, More Easily & More Profitably. I'm joined by the curator of International collections at IQM, Marin Hanson, to hear what it was like to put together the exhibition for A New Deal for Quilts. I know very little about how curators pull off such a quilt feat, so I had all kinds of questions. In this conversation Marin and I discuss: ① a curators calculus for choosing the perfect quilts ② the significance of feed sacks in quilt-making ③ the impact of quilts on the human experienceYou can see images of quilts we discuss on the episode websiteWHY LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE?Listeners interested in textiles, history, or art will find this episode particularly engaging. She is a co-editor on the American Quilts in the Industrial Age, a brilliant (and quite heavy) book, available at Amazon https://amzn.to/3IRZiRR (and yes, worth the price). She is pretty all-around awesome. We talk about the history of the IQM, about museums in general and many more things. A great introduction to the International Quilt Museum.Note: these are raw, in the field interviews and so no intro/outro music. Ironically, I think the sound quality is better than usual! Hope you enjoy it.

Mitä kubitit ovat? Kuinka niillä voi laskea? Miten toimii kvanttisiru? Kuinka kvanttitietokoneita voi ohjelmoida? Arkijärjen vastainen tietojenkäsittely on suuri lupaus tulevaisuuden supertehokkaasta tietojenkäsittelystä. This week's podcast guest and his team are moving quantum computing forward in Europe like no one else and they want to make it the new hotspot for the technology. His name is Jan Goetz and the company he co-founded and now is the CEO of is the German-Finnish startup IQM, which has just recently been all over the news because it received another 39 million Euros in funding. This round, which was led by deep-tech-investor MIG Fonds, adds the total amount of funding up to 71 million Euros. And with that support IQM as a European player enters the race for quantum computing which has so far been mostly between the big tech companies from the US and China.  This podcast episode is all about building up a company around a technology which is not even fully developed yet but which is expected to have a huge impact on all of us. Even if at the moment we're still talking about research machines as Jan stresses, the vision is huge:  “And if this only partly becomes true, then it will really, really revolutionize society in many, many aspects. So it's still a big promise, but I think we have pretty good chances to see the impacts on society.“ In conversation with Bits & Pretzels podcast host Britta Weddeling Jan talks about 1) what he and IQM are up to, 2) what learnings he has to share as a founder and person from IQM's journey and 3) what potential he sees for this fascinating technology for every single one of us in the future!  More to explore: Stay updated on news & insights from us about founders, startups in Bavaria, Austria & Switzerland at www.bitsandpretzels.com.
