We explore one of Superman's greatest villains, Brainiac, as we discussed both a classic Superman story that redefined Brainiac going forward by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank (Action Comics 866 - 870) and Absolute Superman #7 by Jason Aaron and Carmine Di Giandomenico which gave us the twisted origin of the Absolute Brainiac. Escuchar audio
The whole world knows Rick Springfield, the performer, songwriter, idol, rock star, actor, hitmaker....but the real Rick is an introspective deep thinker who has overcome wrenching personal and professional obstacles while remaining true to his purpose and authentic self. Rick joins us this week to talk about a remarkable career trajectory, a new album, a coffee table book and an upcoming national tour!Rick realized at an early age that he was destined to make art, setting off on a unique journey which began in the suburbs of Sydney, then took him to England during the early days of the legendary British rock scene, back to Australia where he launched his music career and then deep into Vietnam to perform for the troops during the height of the Southeast Asia conflict in the late '60s.Rick shares astonishing recollections of playing live in an active war zone, ducking for cover in the middle of a set, flying in an Apache helicopter and his nearly fatal encounter with a grenade. Rick was able to secure a record deal that brought him to America, but while his first single, Speak To The Sky, landed with a flash, he quickly fell into a personal and career rut that lasted 8 years. Rick spent the disco era sticking true to his hook heavy power pop sound and eventually came up swinging with the instant classic Jessie's Girl, followed by 16 more top forty hits! Simultaneously, Rick's side hustle landed him on the soap that was addicting millions, General Hospital. Rick played Noah Drake who he describes as a better kisser than doctor.Rick's autobiography, Late, Late at Night is raw and honest about his struggles with bouts of deep depression. Therapy and medication have helped him and he's gratified that sharing his truth has been a beacon to others but he feels that music is the greatest comfort. That and possibly rum (use responsibly) Rick and Sammy Hagar have launched the Beach Bar Rum company. All of the above, plus a round of IMDB Roulette which takes Rick from Wonder Woman to Meryl Streep. In this week's installment of our At the Movies series, Pastor Ro shares his mother's powerful testimony and connects it with the movie Wonder Woman.
Kid, Hat Trick, and El Pres are back in studio, mashing AI anxiety with dick jokes and parental nightmares. This episode kicks off with an existential debate about whether being nice to Alexa might save your ass in the AI uprising—and derails spectacularly into tales of teenage pantsings, puberty-fueled drama, and genital-related suspensions. Hat Trick's twins are front and center in a battle of hormonal chaos, awkward crushes, and strong female energy. The crew dives into poly relationships, cuck culture, Wonder Woman's kinky creator, and a midget wrestler with a monster dong. Add in a live critique of Get Bent with Vincent Skinwell and some smutty commentary, and you've got one hell of a ride. Spoiler alert: butt calls are now a thing. You're welcome.

Case and Jmike are joined by Logan Crowley to discuss one of the few times where Superman is the underdog in the story, when he crossed over with the Silver Surfer! Overview In the latest episode of the podcast, hosts Case Aiken and Jmike Folson welcome guest Logan Crowley to discuss the recently published DC versus Marvel omnibus, centering on the 90s crossover story featuring Silver Surfer and Superman. The hosts delve into character power dynamics, plot setups, and the comic's creative team while highlighting their appreciation for artists like Ron Lim and writers like George Perez. As the discussion unfolds, they explore the narrative twists involving characters like the Impossible Man and Mr. Mxyzptlk, engaging in debates about iconic character matchups and the significance of their unique abilities. The episode concludes with reflections on the crossover's implications, Logan's upcoming podcast launch, and an invitation for listeners to engage with their online community. Notes Introduction and DC vs Marvel Omnibus (00:00 - 09:43) Case Aiken and Jmike Folson welcome Discord community member Logan Crowley as guest Discussion focuses on recently published DC versus Marvel omnibus The group plans to discuss Silver Surfer Superman crossover from the 90s Logan mentions it feels surreal to be on the podcast as a fan Ron Lim highlighted as perfect artist for Silver Surfer comics George Perez noted as writer for this issue (though the hosts prefer his art to his writing) Logan shares touching personal story about meeting George Perez at a convention Comic Setting and Character Power Levels (09:43 - 19:59) The comic features 90s 'Triangle era' Superman (post-Crisis, post-death) Superman is at his weakest power level compared to extremely powerful Silver Surfer Creative team: George Perez (writer) and Ron Lim (artist) Comic establishes two separate realities (Marvel and DC as different multiverses) The Contessa appears instead of Lex Luthor (specific to this Superman era) Silver Surfer's immense power emphasized - 'strides light year after light year in mere seconds' Silver Surfer discovers mysterious, rapidly evolving planet that shouldn't exist Plot Setup and Character Situations (19:59 - 29:44) Superman finds himself apparently on Krypton (with John Byrne-style mushroom dress designs) Silver Surfer crash lands in Metropolis and causes destruction with his powers Superman's powers begin to fade due to mental blocks related to the red sun Superman realizes he's not actually on Krypton and his powers return Introduction of Klert the Super Skrull as Superman's opponent (though it's a fake-out) Discussion of how the 90s-era Superman depiction differs from other versions Surfer in the Fortress and Character Revelations (29:44 - 39:35) Silver Surfer enters what appears to be Superman's Fortress of Solitude The Fortress attacks Surfer, first formally then with humor Mix of Fortress of Solitude and Batcave elements (dinosaur robot, giant coin) Superman realizes he's not actually fighting the real Super Skrull Brief glimpse of 'spaghetti-headed aliens' reveals the deception Superman punches 'Super Skrull' while shouting 'Game over imp' - suspecting Mr. Mxyzptlk Silver Surfer discovers Metropolis is bottled like the city of Kandor

Send us a textEver had one of those weeks where everything feels impossible—even the things you normally love? That's exactly what happened as I tried to record this podcast episode. Four separate attempts, four brick walls. But instead of forcing it, I decided to get curious about what was really going on beneath the surface. My body was sending signals through back pain and fatigue that something needed attention. As a Gen X woman, I was trained to power through discomfort—to ignore my needs until breaking point. People used to call me Wonder Woman because I just kept going no matter what. It served me well... until it didn't.Our bodies hold onto everything we've experienced—physical, emotional, spiritual. When we consistently ignore what we need, our bodies eventually force us to stop through pain or illness. But there's another way. By pausing to ask "what do I actually need right now?" we can break the cycle of pushing until we break. This simple practice of presence allows us to tune into our mind, body, and spirit before we reach crisis point. If you're running on empty and struggling to hear what your body is telling you, know that it's not too late to change the pattern. Grab my free guide "Five Ways to Practice Presence" from the show notes and start today. Remember, you don't need permission to take care of yourself—but if you do, consider it granted. The world needs what only you have to offer, but first, you need to take care of the vessel delivering those gifts.5 Ways to Practice Presence

Show notes provided by Joe PelusoWhat do you get when you take a police procedural, mix it with science fiction and super-heroes, throw in social and political overtones that reflect modern society--and--call it an origin story? You get one guess--and it has nothing to do with a dead planet named Krypton. Give up? Well, the answer is Timothy Truman's three issuemasterpiece--HAWKWORLD. Join you hosts Keith and Joe for another installment of "Thinking Out of the Longbox With Keith" as the boys strap on their Nth metal wings and fly into an adventure of dynamic discovery of one of DC's seminal characters--Hawkman. The later half of the decade of the 1980's saw many DC icons reimagined for a modern age as the Crisis on Infinite Earths opened the door to new, fresh version of Superman, Wonder Woman, The Batman, The Flash, Green Arrow, and the "wingedwonder" from the Planet Thanagar! Truman's Hawkworld is a gritty, commentary on the abuse of power, and how it can tear apart an individual who has had his life mapped out for him. Katar Hol is a man fighting demons of the heart and mind, as well as those that prey on the less fortunate in the real world. The guys discuss the themes and tones such a world would impose on one man, and how he must fall from grace to eventually conquer all his demons so that he may become the beloved Silver Age version of Hawkman. And as they extol the virtues of Truman's dynamic and nuanced writing, they fairly flip their minds when they profusely praise his incredible art. This is a book the guys have been wanting to wax poetic about for a long time. We feel sure you will enjoy the discourse of this somewhat overlooked gem from comics best decade. And that classic exclamation "Look up in the sky!"--takes on a whole new meaning after reading Hawkworld!

In this wrap-up episode, Stuart Rainbow takes us through his unforgettable Delirious West 2025 experience—a journey filled with epic scenery, wild mishaps, emotional highs, and some truly hilarious trail moments. After a DNF the previous year, Stuart returned stronger and more determined than ever, and his storytelling doesn't disappoint. From an early fall and a missed turn just 2.7km into the race, to a broken watch at the 175km mark and a surreal encounter with a jet-ski delivery and Wonder Woman (a.k.a. Darlene Dale) powering past, Stuart's recap is full of grit, gratitude, and a good dose of Aussie humour. He shares how he made peace with tech failures, why his custom gaiter setup was a total win, and what it meant to share miles with loved ones and strangers who became trail family. Key Highlights: •Overcoming early chaos: fall, wrong turn, and lightheadedness at 5km •Strategic sleep stops, crew coordination, and jocks-based recovery hacks •Gear win of the race: custom-fitted Raidlight gaiters—zero sand, zero regrets •That time his Garmin died mid-race, and how he reframed the frustration •Unexpected support: surprise friends from his hometown cheering him on •The emotional moment of returning to Perry's Beach—the scene of last year's DNF •Finishing with pride, presence, and some incredible sunset memories Connect with Us: Stuart's story is a masterclass in perspective and trail magic. If you've ever faced a tough trail, a tech fail, or a race that meant more than just miles—this one's for you. Don't forget to subscribe and share! Episode 2255 – Baseball corruption, Wonder Woman's boobs, and drinking your own piss—just a regular day in the Deep. Episode 2255 spirals from conspiracy theories about sports betting and AI-controlled strike zones into a nostalgic meltdown featuring Electric Woman, Jenny McCarthy's 1993 Playboy spread, and formative titty moments from B-movies. Meanwhile, laptops get threatened by rogue beers, boomers panic over Apple prices, and our hosts reflect on ghosting, picking battles, and why men are basically just horny apes with Venmo. Bonus: a musical masterpiece featuring “Suck the dick, drink the piss.” Classy as always.

With The Golden Circle making almost as much as the original Kingsman movie, Fox felt like they had a franchise on its hands. Yet, director Matthew Vaughn had plans that had nothing to do with continuing the story of Eggsy. Instead, he wanted to pull a George Lucas and go back to the beginning. The result is 2021's The King's Man, a WW1 set prequel that tells the story about how The Kingsman came to be. Or does it? Join Matt, Adam, and Garrett as they review the perceived flop and determine whether the film is worth the derision it has received. And be sure to NOT play a drinking game to how many times Adam or Matt mention 2017's Wonder Woman. Otherwise you will fall dead by the podcast's end. Come back next week as the boys close out this leg of Marvel by reviewing 2024's Argylle.

Jace and Rocky chat about the DC Comics releases for the week of April 16, 2025. We have the end of Challengers of the Unknown as some questions are answered and more are raised. Similarly, Detective Comics reaches the end of its first arc for this era in a very satisfying ending that shows that even in the face of great temptation, Batman has lines he will not cross. Nightwing starts a new arc that brings some personal context to the power vacuum that currentkly exists in Bludhaven, while Batman looks to help Wonder Woman solve a murder on Themiscrya. New Gods, Zatanna and Titans all continue their current stroylines in compelling fashion with gorgeous art. Finally Absolute Flash gives us even more personality for the absolute Rogues and shows just how out of control Wally's power are. It's a great week of DC titles so join us to hear all about these books and more.
