I really appreciate you coming on. Well, thank you. I appreciate you having me for this talk. Yeah. Now, Daniel, tell the guys a little bit about yourself. So tell the guys a little bit about your story. Well, oddly enough, I am a newspaper writer, but not the type you would think. I've been writing for over 25 years now, actually, a column or columns for local newspapers. And I cover, of all things, high school sports. I go out to area high schools. I watch the games. I take notes, take interviews, grab comments from players [1:00] and coaches, go home and write it. And a couple of days later, it's in the newspaper. Is that in the Boston area? Yes. Great Boston area. 25 years I've been doing it. You know, it's funny you say that because I did a library presentation for my first book. And one of the questions in the audience from a woman was, how do I translate writing high school sports into writing mob books? Yeah. And I told her, you know, there's two aspects of both. You have to, number one, be able to research, find out information. [1:29] Keep track of information, and be able to do an interview with your subjects. And in this case, it would be athletes and coaches. On the book writing side,

THE ELDEST SON of good King Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, was more like his mother-in-law, Jezebel, than his father. After Jehoshaphat's death, Jehoram killed his brothers and turned his kingdom toward the gods of the Amorites (i.e., Phoenicians) worshiped by Jezebel. As a result, Jezebel was afflicted with a terrible and horribly painful disease that killed him seven years later. Jehoram's son, Ahaziah, reigned only one year when he was killed by Jehu while visiting his uncle, Ahab's son Joram. Upon his death, Jehoram's wife, Ahab's daughter Athaliah seized the throne, killed the royal family of Judah—the House of David—and reigned as queen for seven years. She appears to have been cut from the same cloth as her mother, Jezebel.  But after seven years, the high priest Jehoiada, who'd been secretly raising Ahaziah's youngest son, Joash, declared the boy king, had Athaliah put to death, and tore down the temple of Baal in Jerusalem. At the end of the day, all of the political machinations involving the land of Israel down to the present day are reflections of the war in the unseen realm for control of God's mount of assembly—Zion. THE WAR between Israel and Iran is just over a week old—but not really. This is a continuation of what began October 7, 2023, which in turn is a continuation of a low-grade conflict that's gone on for decades. Iran was the primary source of financial, technical, and military support for Hezbollah and Hamas, which have been responsible for attacks inside Israel since the 1980s in the case of Hezbollah, and since the mid-2000s in the case of Hamas. The attack on October 7, 2023 was the final straw for the conservative government in Israel, which is determined to put an end to the threat to its citizens. Was Iran close to developing a nuclear weapon? No one has said so publicly, although the Israeli government and conservative talk show hosts in the US have made that claim for more than 20 years. However, the International Atomic Energy Agency recently assessed that Iran had enough uranium refined to 60% purity to produce ten weapons (note: 90% purity is required) and that Iran was preventing IAEA inspectors from accessing areas they needed to see. Not surprisingly, media accounts of the IAEA report ranged from “Iran close to developing nuclear weapons” to “No evidence Iran is developing nuclear weapons.” At the end of the day, the theocratic government of Iran, run by men in their 70s and 80s who may see this as their last, best chance to see the Mahdi in the flesh, cannot be allowed to develop nuclear weapons, and—sadly—their religious worldview prevents them from reaching a negotiated settlement. Pero según Raúl Ulloa, co-host de Wizards of Ecom, lo único que realmente necesitas es entender cuál es el modelo adecuado para vos según tu presupuesto y tus objetivos. “Digamos que tienes un presupuesto muy bajo, menor de 500 dólares, tienes la opción de Merch, Kindle y Amazon Influencer. Son opciones con las cuales puedo empezar con 0 dólares de inversión”, explica. Estos modelos tienen un punto en común: el riesgo es prácticamente nulo, porque no se invierte dinero, sino tiempo y creatividad. Sin embargo, esa accesibilidad también trae consecuencias. “La mayoría de las personas se van a estos modelos porque tienen riesgo cero, básicamente nada que perder… No invierto y gano algo. El problema que trae es que ocasiona saturación y competencia, y ganancias algo bajas”, advierte Ulloa. Ahora bien, si cuentas con un poco más de capital, existen caminos con mejores retornos. “Si tienes más de $500 para invertir, puedes optar por Arbitraje, que es básicamente comprar y revender, aunque conviene más si estás en Estados Unidos. Es un modelo más profesional, con márgenes más bajos (alrededor del 10%), pero con menos competencia y una mayor escalabilidad. “Es un modelo escalable hasta millones de dólares, pero cada vez se pone un poquito más complicado este modelo como revendedor”, alerta nuestro co-host. Raúl lo deja claro: no hay una única manera de vender en Amazon. Todo depende de cuánto estés dispuesto a invertir, cuánto riesgo estés dispuesto a asumir, y sobre todo, qué tipo de negocio quieres construir.

Jay's foray into alcoholism stemmed from a difficult childhood in a home where his father drank, and fear and confusion reigned. By the time he started drinking in his early teens to quell the fear and ease his dissonance, he had set the pattern for a life of alcoholic behavior. Dishonesty and narcissism both isolated him and caused pain to those who cared about him. As his adult life was rapidly spinning out of control, Jay realized he needed help. He went into treatment and, subsequently, AA. But what started out as a good idea, inevitably failed as he continued to drink, paying lip-service to both treatment and half-hearted involvement in AA. In fact, as he collected countless desire chips on what seemed like a weekly basis, he labeled himself as Ph.D. in relapsing. Neither pride in nor practice of that degree did much to mitigate Jay's incomprehensible demoralization. As the elevator plunged towards the bottom, his moment of clarity finally came into focus, Jay was finally ready to stop drinking and do the actual work to stay sober.     Though Jay's story is hilarious at times and tragic at others, it remains a cautionary tail of what can go wrong in the pursuit of sobriety. It's value as a stark backdrop to Jay's sober life in AA cannot be undervalued. In this episode of Gangland Wire, host Gary Jenkins welcomes Anthony Pesare, a retired Rhode Island State Police Intelligence officer turned crime novelist. Gary and Anthony dive into the notorious Providence neighborhood of Federal Hill, a hotbed of mob activity. Anthony offers first-hand stories of surveillance, navigating tight-knit communities, and the challenge of identifying criminals who blend seamlessly into everyday life. He based his recent true-crime novel, They Always Win, on the exploits of Frank “Bobo” Marrapese Jr., a member of the New England Mafia Family led by Raymond Patriarca in the Federal Hill neighborhood. Anthony also wrote Back in the Game in his series on Gino Peterson, a Rhode Island State trooper investigating organized crime. He recounts one of his most notable cases involving a coin shop owner named Stephen Saccoccia, who orchestrated a sophisticated multimillion-dollar money laundering scheme using “Smurfs” to move drug money back to Colombia. When a low-level Providence area mobster tried to move in and extract a tribute, Saccoccia made one phone call, and the guy backed off. It's a fascinating look into how organized crime adapts and evades detection. After retiring from law enforcement, Anthony served as a professor and dean at Roger Williams University before returning to police work as the Chief of Police in  Middletown, Rhode Island. These experiences further enriched his understanding of police culture—something he brings vividly to life in his fiction. His debut novel, They Always Win, features Detective Gino Peterson, a character shaped by Anthony's real-world insights. Through Gino, Anthony explores themes like addiction, loyalty, and psychological strain—pressures many officers face behind the badge. The novel includes storylines inspired by the murder of mob figure Richard “Dickey” Calley, with confidential informants and witness protection playing key roles in the investigation. Lisa and I found ourselves talking about a frequently asked question in our communities: Won't thinking about my dark stuff make me worse? This is a typical fear of many people endeavoring TMS work. I have such empathy for the perceived quandary - it makes sense that paying attention to seemingly negative content might make it grow. Yet, we both know this is the opposite of truth. Then Lisa suggested a juxtaposition: let's consider the difference between rumination and excavation. Whereas rumination is automatic and unproductive, excavation is intentional and leads to healing.
