As we wrap up Season 3 of the Opening Minds, Opening Hearts podcast, we find ourselves reflecting on a season that has been both challenging and enlightening. We've had the privilege of engaging in conversations with guests from a variety of spiritual traditions, each offering profound insights into the nature of Ultimate Reality and non-duality from their spiritual traditions. It has been all about expansion—of our hearts, minds, and understanding. We've explored how our contemplative practices open us up to new ways of seeing and being, helping us move beyond the boundaries of dualistic thinking. The idea of Ultimate Reality as a shared experience, something we can only begin to describe through stories, metaphors, and silence, has deeply shaped our reflections. Our guests invited us to consider how connection, kinship, and the experience of God weave through all of life.To connect further with us:Visit our website: www.contemplativeoutreach.orgFind us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/prayerofconsentLike us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/prayerofconsentCheck out our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@prayerofconsentTo learn more about the founding theological principles of Contemplative Outreach, visit https://www.contemplativeoutreach.org/vision/Stream and Download the Opening Minds, Opening Hearts Podcast NOW for FREE on Apple Podcast, Google, Amazon and Spotify!

She emphasizes the need for equity, transparency, and a desire to win for true collaboration to occur. 00:24:24 - The Framework for Collaboration Priscilla outlines the three essential elements for successful collaboration: having something to lose and gain, being transparent and open, and having a desire to win for the benefit of all involved. 00:30:49 - Moving from Scarcity to Abundance Mindset Priscilla discusses the importance of shifting from a scarcity mindset to an abundance mindset. Instead of always trying to get their way, she encourages a mindset of helping others and believing that everyone can achieve their goals. 00:31:26 - Itchy Backs - Cultivating a Helping Mindset Priscilla explains the concept of "itchy backs," where you focus on meeting the needs of others. By being aware of what others need and offering help, you can build strong relationships and collaboration opportunities. 00:34:31 - The Rule of 15 - Inspiring Collaboration Priscilla introduces the Rule of 15, which emphasizes the importance of creating content that inspires collaboration. Building relationships takes time, and it's essential to pay it forward and show genuine interest in others before expecting collaboration opportunities. 00:35:53 - LinkedIn Cocktail Party - Shifting Mindset Priscilla suggests thinking of LinkedIn as an online cocktail party rather than just a social media platform. She highlights the importance of showing up correctly, curating a great guest list, and being a good conversationalist to build meaningful connections. 00:38:59 - Avoiding Pitch Slapping - Building Relationships Priscilla discusses the negative impact of pitch-slapping, where people immediately try to sell or pitch their services without building a relationship first. Centering Prayer is a practice that changes the way we see the world from the inside out and is important for our well-being both physically and mentally. To help us reflect on this important principle, we are excited to welcome Fr. Greg Boyle, the founder of Homeboy Industries, the largest gang intervention, rehabilitation, and re-entry program in the world. Fr. Greg was born and raised in Los Angeles and was a Jesuit priest from 1986 to 1992. After witnessing the devastating impact of gang violence on his community, peaking at 1,000 gang-related killings in 1992, he was inspired to adopt a radical approach at the time, treating gang members as human beings. Homeboy Industries employs and trains former gang members in a range of social enterprises, and provides critical services to thousands of individuals who walk through its doors each year seeking a better life.To connect further with Fr. Today on Encounters USA we discussed the issue of UFO Disclosure and technology and how it may apply to the mystery of Bigfoot and other cryptids. Encounters USA assembled a rounded panel of experts to give a perspective from differing viewpoints. For our well-grounded researcher, we chose Crystal Panek. Crystal is a researcher and a computer engineer in New Hamphshire. Crystal's first Bigfoot sighting happened when she was a young girl. She was literally besieged by a Bigfoot who entered her trailer. Crystal has no qualms about what she thinks Bigfoot is. To give us a skeptical and scientific viewpoint, we invited Dr. Simeon Hein. Dr. Hein is a sociologist and author. He has studied remote viewing, crop circles and the effects of encounters with strange entities. He has compiled his research into the books Black Swan Ghosts and Opening Minds. Finally, to expound the field or quantum capable Bigfoot theory, we invited world famous Bigfoot researcher Ron Morehead. Ron's famous books, Voices In the Wilderness and his latest, Quantum Bigfoot leave no question that Ron has theories about the Bigfoot mystery that go beyond the primate theory. With our well rounded panel of experts we began to look into the mystery surrounding the latest UFO disclosures, the mysterious ‘suicide' of Mark McCandlish and his discovery of Zero Point Energy Alien Reproduction Vehicles. Is the technology propelling UFOs also propelling Bigfoot? We will discuss the possibilities on Encounters USA.

FS31 Clean Language and Metaphor In today’s episode, host Nikki Wilson takes a deep dive into clean language and metaphor, and talks to three guests about their uses of them in their facilitation practice. First Nikki talks to Judy Rees about how she discovered clean language and metaphor and how they feature in her work today. Judy started exploring the use of metaphor as a child, when her father was studying its use in education. Following reading the book “Metaphors We Live By” by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson as a teenager she then talks of her further exploration on metaphor and clean language during her career as a journalist. Judy talks of her experience of using clean language as a key part of her engagement with freelance facilitation clients. Using a combination of clean language and metaphor allows her clients to express their needs for their requirements, which in turn allows Judy to understand whether she is the right person for them. She also talks about how she uses clean principles in her training of facilitators to use clean language with groups and teams. Judy also shares examples of how clean language can help to tease out the distinctions between things that seem quite similar on the surface, but have subtle distinctions, and how this is valuable in avoiding misunderstanding that can be very, very costly. For facilitators looking to extend their knowledge of clean language for use with groups, Judy recommends reading “From Contempt to Curiosity” by Caitlin Walker. Those looking for more 1-2-1 applications can read “Clean Language: Revealing Metaphors and Opening Minds” by Wendy Sullivan and Judy Rees. Judy ends by speaking about she is current exploring how to not just get people excited by clean language and metaphor, but how to get those people to effectively transmit that enthusiasm, joy and excitement to other people as well. You can get in touch with Judy here: Twitter: @JudyRees Website: www.reesmccann.com Website: www.learncleanlanguage.com YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/XraylisteningJR/featured Blog: https://reesmccann.com/2016/05/03/metaphor-get-group-started/   Nikki gives a quick reminder of the IAF England & Wales regular meetups which in April 2021 are still happening online. You can find out more on the website: https://www.iaf-world.org/site/chapters/england-wales Nikki then goes on to speak to Robert Taylor and Kevin Watson who ran “The Magic of Metaphor” session at the IAF England & Wales conference in October 2020. When asked about where the magic comes from when they use metaphor, Kevin describes how the magic in their sessions is all about the relationship that the participant has with the metaphor, and how it helps people to accelerate their ability to see something they have not seen before. Also magical is people’s imagination and creativity and how that never ceases to amaze him. Kevin and Rob talk about their experiences of using metaphor in both facilitation and coaching sessions. They talk about the use of physical objects in sessions to explore metaphor, and how it is important that it's something that is outside of themselves and seemingly unrelated to the topic on their minds. They go on to explain that it is important to have elements which the participant can touch and interact with as part of the exercise to get a different perspective. They talk about the importance of the facilitator in letting go of the worries about how people will react to using metaphor in a session. The important thing is that you as the facilitator work with what people present to you, as that will be the right thing for them at that time. Both Kevin & Rob go on to talk about the need to trust the participant, that they will come up with something that you can work with, and that they will have the things they need to figure it out. Rob & Kevin end by talking about how they will continue to explore metaphor further in the future, including looking at how you can use metaphor online to give people experiences that they can learn from. He covers a wide range of topics such as socio-economic development, leadership, education, and spirituality at these forums. One of his many significant accomplishments is founding the Isha Foundation, a non-profit organization run by over 11 million volunteers worldwide. Sadhguru is extremely knowledgeable about so many different things that affect our planet. In this conversation, we focus on his passion for preserving Native American culture and his initiative to heal the earth by planting trees. Inspired by what he calls “a spiritual encounter with a Native American spirit,” Sadhguru embarked on a 10,000-mile motorcycle journey across 16 states. His goal was to explore a 40,000-year-old culture that is disappearing every day. Sadhguru doesn’t just dip his toes into a mission. He fully immerses himself in it. And his wisdom and compassion compel others to do the same, which makes him such a powerful force to bring real, actionable change to the world. With his initiative, Project Greenhands, 42.1 million trees were planted in farmland in South India. I could talk to Sadhguru for hours, and I wish I could have since there was so much we couldn’t cover. However, if you’re not familiar with him or his work, this is an excellent introduction of what can be done when, as he says, “you have ecology in your heart.” Also in this episode: Sadhguru’s motorcycle journey across the states What drew him to Native American culture Little known facts about Native American culture Project Greenhands India’s farmers Why the world’s rivers are drying up Trees, trees, trees How to get involved How the world would change if everyone ate plant-based diets Links: Inner Engineering - https://www.innerengineering.com/ Project GreenHands - https://www.ishaoutreach.org/en/project-greenhands Sadhguru’s Website - https://isha.sadhguru.org/us/en Twitter @SadhguruJV Facebook: @Sadhguru Instagram: @Sadhguru Download Darin’s amazing new lifestyle app and get 3 days free at 121Tribe.com For amazing skin using an all-natural serum made with wild-harvested ingredients, get Caldera Lab’s “The Good”, the only skincare product I use. In early December we published the first Breakout Room podcast describing the Classroom to Boardroom program held this summer under the steerage of Derek Browne and Mitesh Sheth. To recall, the program was devised as a way to tackle under-representation of black talent in the investment industry. It was designed as a way for executives to “get out of their echo chamber” and hear directly from black youth about their perspectives, challenges they might face and maybe even identify talent. In that first Breakout Room we heard from the executives from the asset management industry and now we want to hear from the students themselves. This past Spring and Summer (2020) had a number of what Derek describes as "hard stops" in the education of some of these students as schools closed and exams were cancelled. Against this backdrop the program took on an additional value - providing a validating assessment experience in what had unexpectedly become an assessment vacuum. This ability to connect with peers and professionals as well as to get actionable and meaningful feedback on real-life assignments was even more powerful as a result.

Oma Episode Part II includes an interview with Art for the Journey's (AFJ) Executive Director, Cindy Paullin, and VCU's OT graduate student, Hannah Johnson. This episode complements the first part of the OMA episode series by exploring the evolution of Art for the Journey through its inception, which began as a non-profit, volunteer organization, until today, as it perseveres through the obstacles the pandemic has presented. It explains how Opening Minds through Art (OMA) was added to AFJ's programs and the impact that it has had on their development and subsequent programs. Art for the Journey overcomes barriers and transforms lives through creative expression, with a special focus on people who do not normally have access to such experiences.  They provide a range of art programs aimed at bringing a sense of wellbeing and even healing within an environment of personal engagement, support, and celebration.  AFJ provides instruction and art-making experiences to women in prison, low income elderly, at-risk children, children with Juvenile Diabetes, older adults with dementia and Alzheimer's, and veterans suffering PTSD and combat-related disabilities. While AFJ was not created by OT's, much of what they do in their work is very relatable to the field of OT and it's practiced. In this episode, we compare and contrast some of these similarities and bring light to the many ways in which this program is helping numerous populations of the community. Hannah Johnson discusses her experience completing her doctoral capstone project in response to the pandemic and a changing schedule to the curriculum and how she incorporated her OT knowledge into program development with AFJ. So they came and stood before the king. 3 And the king said to them, “I have had a dream, and my spirit is anxious to know the dream.”Daniel 2:10-1110 The Chaldeans answered the king, and said, “There is not a man on earth who can tell the king’s matter; therefore no king, lord, or ruler has ever asked such things of any magician, astrologer, or Chaldean. 11 It is a difficult thing that the king requests, and there is no other who can tell it to the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.”Daniel 2:31-35 31 “You, O king, were watching; and behold, a great image! This great image, whose splendor was excellent, stood before you; and its form was awesome. 32 This image’s head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, 33 its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay. 34 You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. 35 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed together, and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; the wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found. This week, Sam Falco is joined by Andrea Chiou to discuss the topic of clean language!   Andrea Chiou is an Enterprise Agile Coach with Tenable. Her past work includes many roles within IT, from developer to business and process analyst, technical lead, and PM. Her main focuses include Scrum, Kanban, strategy, facilitation, remote working, product visioning, conflict management, leadership, user experience, clean language, organizational learning, and coaching. Andrea’s mission is to help people at work connect to one another so that the best possible outcomes are available not only in the moment but over a sustained period.   In their conversation, they discuss clean language; what it is, what it is not, where it originated from, its applications, and the barriers or challenges to using clean language (and how to address them). Andrea also outlines key clean language questions, how to know when and where to use them, and what you can do to further improve your clean language!   Key Takeaways What is clean language? A label that describes a set of questions that are used in a process to help people think through their intentions and better understand one another Non-leading questions that elevate and amplify the inherent diversity of skills, knowledge, and styles of working in a team A powerful way of getting everyone to pay attention to one another and create a system of learning, listening, inquiry, and mutual support It is a set of 12 core questions that are non-leading and assumption-free The use of these short “clean questions” puts the emphasis on the keywords that demonstrate to the person that you’re asking that you are hearing them and you empathize with them (i.e. you’re using their words, not your interpretation of their words) Where clean language originated from: There are four main branches of how clean language has evolved: 1) symbolic modeling 2) systemic modeling 3) clean space 4) clean interviewing Clean language applications: In an interview (asking the right questions when hiring by stripping out leading questions and phrases so people can truly express themselves) It is often used in person-change work (coaches, counselors, psychologists, etc.) It can be used as an information-gathering tool by market researchers, journalists, business and systems analysts, developers, etc. Using clean language in a team setting improves communication, empathy, and understanding Barriers or challenges to using clean language: Even though you’re using someone else’s words it may go unnoticed or be done in a way that can make someone feel uncomfortable It’s easy to learn, but, much like Scrum, takes a lot of practice and support to become good at it It can be challenging to know when to use it Especially in IT, the pace and the need for quickness often hampers people’s ability to actually listen well How to use clean language questions: Two of the most common questions are 1) “What kind of…?” and 2) “Is there anything else about...” These get at the “nitty-gritty” details You put your attention on the person you’re asking the questions to and hearing them fully Repeating their words when asking follow-up questions, inviting them to continue List of clean language questions: Developing Questions What kind of X? Is there anything else about X? Where is X? or Whereabouts is X? Is there a relationship between X and Y? When X, what happens to Y? That’s X like what? Sequence and Source Questions Then what happens? or What happens next? What happens just before X? Where could X come from? Intention Questions What would X like to have happen? What needs to happen for X? Can X (happen)?   Mentioned in this Episode: Agile Coaches’ Corner Ep. 101: “Are Scrum Masters Expendable?” Clean Language: Revealing Metaphors and Opening Minds, by Wendy Sullivan and Judy Rees The Work and Life of David Grove: Clean Language and Emergent Knowledge, by Carol WilsonTenable Agendashift Agendashift: Outcome-oriented change and continuous transformation, by Mike Burrows Right to Left: The digital leader's guide to Lean and Agile, by Mike Burrows Deep Listening — Impact Beyond Words Podcast by Oscar Trimboli   Want to Learn More or Get in Touch? Joining Dan today is his colleague and collaborator, Sam Falco, to discuss whether or not Scrum Masters are expendable. Is it possible for things to be running so smoothly that you’re working yourself out of a job as a Scrum Master? Is there anything left for a Scrum Master to do once best practices become team culture, the team is self-sufficient, and the organization reaches a high level of performance? Why or why not should an organization keep a Scrum Master around? How does the role evolve over time? Tune in as Sam and Dan answer all of these questions and more on this week’s episode!   Key Takeaways Can or should a Scrum Master be trying to “work themselves out of a job”? The idea that they can work themselves out of a job is an inherently flawed concept as it arises from the common misconception that they’re only a team coach A Scrum Master can always serve an organization (as there is no such thing as 100% perfection; the goal post is constantly moving/evolving) Sports analogy: If a team is doing really well, you don’t fire the coach! The same goes for Scrum (you still need the Scrum Master to keep the team and organization at a high-level and help finetune their performance) Why is a Scrum Master necessary? To help the team and organization continually improve (there is no ultimate level of performance) What is perfect now, may change — there is no pinnacle; there is always room for improvement If you reach a plateau, more experiments need to be conducted and other areas need to be examined Even if everything seems perfect, it is important to stay on top of things and continue retrospectives, etc. Qualities of a high-performing Scrum Master that delivers continuous improvement and value to the team and organization: Help the entire organization embrace empiricism in what it’s doing; not just team development Make decisions based on sound data (through transparency, inspection, and adaptation) Teach about empiricism with the Product Owner, finding better ways to refine the product backlog, experiments to run, etc. Help the whole organization improve; not just the team Value outcomes rather than output Make sure that the whole organization is living the Agile values and Scrum principles Help the team and organization resolve problems themselves and remove impediments Don’t trade efficiencies for throughput (a bit of slack in efficiency is actually beneficial for higher throughput) Know that in any complex endeavor, there are many variables and you will never get everything correct; situations always change, so be sure to not be overly optimized and be willing to adjust and adapt How does a Scrum Master’s role evolve over time? Through innovation, experimentation, and creating new best practices Always have something to do, reevaluate, and ask yourself, “How can I be of service? How can I help? What can I do that’s useful?” Look at the overall system and figure out hidden/less obvious impediments Always find opportunities to further optimize within an organization Always find new ways to deliver value   Mentioned in this Episode: Live AgileThought Community Event: “Agile Heard Around the World” with Special Guests — Oct. 29th Peerfit Cynefin Framework The Age of Agile: How Smart Companies Are Transforming the Way Work Gets Done, by Stephen Denning The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement, by Eliyahu M. Spiritual Experience Appendix II page 399-400 THE terms "spiritual experience" and "spiritual awakening" are used many times in this book which, upon careful reading, shows that the personality change sufficient to bring about recovery from alcoholism has manifested itself among us in many different forms. Yet it is true that our first printing gave many readers the impression that these personality changes, or religious experiences, must be in the nature of sudden and spectacular upheavals. Happily for everyone, this conclusion is erroneous. In the first few chapters a number of sudden revolutionary changes are described. Though it was not our intention to create such an impression, many alcoholics have nevertheless concluded that in order to recover they must acquire an immediate and overwhelming "God-consciousness" followed at once by a vast change in feeling and outlook. Among our rapidly growing membership of thousands of alcoholics such transformations, though frequent, are by no means the rule. Most of our experiences are what the psychologist William James calls the "educational variety" because they develop slowly over a period of time. Quite often friends of the newcomer are aware of the difference long before he is himself. He finally realizes that he has undergone a profound alteration in his reaction to life; that such a change could hardly have been brought about by himself alone. What often takes place in a few months could seldom have been accomplished by years of self discipline. With few exceptions our members find that they have tapped an unsuspected inner resource which they presently identify with their own conception of a Power greater than themselves. Most of us think this awareness of a Power greater than ourselves the essence of spiritual experience. Our more religious members call it "God-consciousness." Most emhpatically we wish to say that any alcoholic capable of honestly facing his problems in the light of our experience can recover provided he does not close his mind to all spiritual concepts. He can only be defeated by an attitude of intolerance or belligerent denial. We find that no one need have difficulty with the spiritual side of the program. Willingness, honesty and open mindedness are the essentials of recovery. But these are indispensable.

'Inspirational' is a good way to describe Rithy Thul but it also captures what he wants Koompi to be for young Cambodians. Koompi is Cambodia's first locally designed laptop and Rithy Thul's latest venture. He discusses it, his company Smallworld Cambodia and his dream for education in Cambodia with Michael Waitze on Social Innovation Asia's first podcast on innovation in Cambodia. Smallworld Cambodia. started as a coworking space but soon became a platform for start-up ventures in Cambodia by providing office space, mentorship and capital in some cases. Smallworld Cambodia also engages in internal projects and for these Rithy follows a simple principle. If it is meaningful but people think is it too difficult, then Smallworld will try it. Its this principle that led him and his team to develop Koompi and their pursuit of changing how laptops are designed. Rather than hardware being designed for the latest software and dropping off in performance as the software is updated, Rithy believes software should be designed to work for the hardware and get faster over time. So, Rithy and his team designed KramaOS based on Linux. After launching Koompi with the KramaOS in just October, they are on track to sell 1,000 units by the end of the 2018. But they won’t stop with just designing the laptop and operating system. Next year they plan to start manufacturing motherboards in Cambodia. Koompi is not just an affordable and practical laptop. Rithy wants young Cambodia's to see Koompi and what his team is doing and "look up to the sky". Young people in Cambodia are brave. If you lead them and give them the right tools they have so much potential, Rithy believes. Rithy's bigger dream is to change education and the opportunities available to young Cambodians. He points out that Mark Zuckerberg was using a computer by the age of six, and Rithy wants to close the gap by giving more young Cambodians the chance to use computers and learn to code at a young age. He has a vision of bringing Koompi computers to every high school in Cambodia and training university graduates to go back to their hometowns for one year to give computer training to the next generation of young Cambodians. If it seems too difficult, Rithy and his team will give it a go. In Rithy's Cambodia, the only boundary is the sky.

Denn alles, was wir Menschen erleben, speichert unser Gehirn in Metaphern, also Bildern ab. ? Clean Language: #1 Way to Fix Poor Team Communication

"You want happy staff. You become more productive as the manager because you don't have to deal with the hassles." - Judy Rees Today on Lean Agile Management Podcast, we're talking to Judy Rees about effective communication in complex environments to learn how to improve team communication at work using a method called Clean Language. From the famous feedback sandwich to the Nonviolent Communication method, managers everywhere are eager to find an effective way to overcome the communication hurdles of a modern workplace. Different cultural backgrounds, distributed and remote teams make it even harder for contributors and managers to communicate effectively. Having poor communication in teams leads to misunderstandings and conflicts. Insufficient or ineffective communication is reported to have a direct effect on employee engagement, high employee turnover, and can even be the reason behind missed goals. Together, all these side effects lead to stress and anxious people are even harder to communicate with. Sounds like a vicious circle, doesn’t it? Wouldn’t it be great, if we could just glimpse into someone else's mind and just see why they do things the way they do? See what kind of meanings hide behind the words people say. The answer you’re looking for might be the Clean Language method. To understand what that is and how to use it, we’ve invited Judy Rees - a public speaker, trainer, and consultant as well as a co-author of a bestselling book called Clean Language: Revealing Metaphors and Opening Minds. Clean Language is a method initially devised by David Grove to help therapy clients explore their inner thoughts. In essence, it’s a very specific precision inquiry technique that’s built on the idea of probe request and response. The ultimate goal is to find out what it is that somebody really means by what they're saying even when they don't know themselves. The key points covered in the episode: The biggest challenge for modern management How to communicate effectively in highly unstable and complex environments Boosting team morale, company profits, and manager’s well-being with good communication What is Clean Language and how can it help you deal with business challenges? Giving feedback and understanding problematic employees Importance of effective communication (listening) skills in conflict resolution How to learn what's necessary for people to work at their best. We are pleased that Jacob Hornberger, Founder and President of the Future of Freedom Foundation, has agreed to return to our show.  During this segment, Mr. Hornberger will discuss the highly controversial concept of open borders.  This topic is rarely addressed by the main street media, especially presidential hopefuls.  The safe political position is to be "tough" on immigration.  Mr. Hornberger will explain why commonly held beliefs are actually detrimental to our way of living and violates the very precepts of our Constitution.  Listen in and call in with question, or comments, now toll-free 855-866-1170.
