Sarah Thompson is the chef of Casa Playa in the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts and is a Culinary Institute of America graduate who spent many years working in New York City at restaurants like Marea and Alder, but when taking a job with Enrique Olvera and Daniela Soto-Innes at Cosme, she fell in love with Mexican cuisine. When that restaurant wanted a variation of it called Elio in Las Vegas she was tapped as the executive chef. They opened right at the same time the pandemic hit, so after months of openings and closings and instability on the Las Vegas strip it closed. However, she was able to convince the Wynn to let her take over the space and serve her form of Mexican cooking.Casa Playa serves coastal Mexican food, but it's not attached to any specific region. She has no sentimental background with a grandmother in Michoacán or anything like that, so she doesn't try to insinuate that she does and just lets the flavors work together as she sees fit. She even whips the masa for her tamales with coconut oil. It's a very particular environment, running a restaurant inside of a casino. The way people dine is different. They often come in large groups. She has a late-night taco menu for those that want to stop in for a quick bite before during or after going to a club or some kind of attraction. The lighting is beyond her control at times. These unique attributes also give her an opportunity to do things a little differently. It's a really fascinating world in Las Vegas. I know it seems like a place I wouldn't like, but I've never really gone there for all of the money and excess and nightlife that it has a reputation for. We are live from the Blue Wire Studios at the Wynn Hotel here in Las Vegas. Looking at the Chiefs and Niners, it really shows you how far off the Jets and the Giants are from these two teams. The Giants don't have a single weapon on offense and who knows what's going on with their quarterback. Boomer reminds us the Jets only lost to the Chiefs by a FG. Zach Wilson played well in that game, which is why Boomer thinks the Vikings will want him. The Jets gave up a ton of rushing yards to the Chiefs that game. Both the Chiefs and Niners like to run the ball. As good as Brock PURDY has been, he is not in the same discussion as Patrick MAHOMES. Next year there will be no Tom Brady and no Bill Belichick for the first time in forever, although Brady will be in the booth at Fox.  Jerry returns for an update but first we talked about the drinking on our flight out here. The flight attendant asked Boomer if it was his first Super Bowl. Boomer can't believe we didn't tip the flight attendant. Jerry has audio from some of the players at the Pro Bowl Games. Would the Raiders trade for Justin Fields? We are taping a segment with Drew Barrymore on Wednesday. In the final segment of the hour, one of the guys working for us went to the weed store. Boomer is not a weed guy so he's not interested.

Hour 1 We are live from the Blue Wire Studios at the Wynn in Las Vegas. Boomer is drinking a White Claw. He thought it was an energy drink. Boomer said nobody has it better than the B&G team in Vegas. The studio is right in the hotel we are staying at. Patrick MAHOMES' dad got another DUI, his third. Will this have any impact on the Chiefs this week? Probably not. It's a distraction, but it's early in the week, and it's something Patrick MAHOMES has dealt with in the past. Dua Lipa opened the Grammys last night. Boomer didn't like that Taylor Swift promoted a new album while accepting a Grammy and didn't do a ‘go Chiefs'. Boomer seems very bothered that Taylor didn't thank Travis or reference the Chiefs at the Grammys. Jerry is here for his first update of the day but first we talked about Spike Eskin and how he's in a ‘lame duck spot' since he's leaving. Gio and Jerry golfed yesterday right after they checked in. Jerry starts with Taylor Swift's first acceptance speech, her ‘13TH Grammy'. Boomer said her speech was antiseptic, like ‘World War II Listerine'. Ben Simmons will miss tonight's game due to ‘back maintenance'. FIFA announced the World Cup Final in 2026 will be at MetLife Stadium. In the final segment of the hour, the Giants blocked the Seahawks from interviewing Mike Kafka for the offensive coordinator position. Boomer said this is a smart move by Brian DABOLL. You have to keep some stability with the coaching staff. Boomer could see the Seahawks drafting Michael Penix. Rex Hogan was let go by the Jets as assistant GM, which makes us think he was the leak in the building. Gio said the Giants are on the same track as the Jets were in their last year with Todd Bowles. The Giants are coming into Brian Daboll's third year with a sub par roster. Making the players actually hurt them with the rebuild. Boomer rattled off the good teams in the NFC for next year. DABOLL is going to have to ‘coach his ass off' according to Boomer. If the Giants get off to a bad start, every call to WFAN will be about hiring Bill Belichick. Maybe that's why Belichick turned down the job in Atlanta. We also talked about Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears. His camp came out and said they are not anti-Bears and would go there if drafted there. Why did the Bears keep Matt Eberflus? Jerry returns for an update and starts with audio from some players at the Pro Bowl Games. Patrick MAHOMES Sr was arrested for his third DUI. Jalen Brunson talked about the Knicks winning streak coming to an end against the Lakers. There were also a bunch of rumors about LeBron James and the Knicks. St. John's played UConn over the weekend with John Minko and Brandon Tierney on the call. Former porn star Lisa Ann got thrown out of the Matt Rife show and was arrested for some reason. In the final segment of the hour,  the first episode of the final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm aired last night. Larry is wearing lady glasses in this episode, just like Phil Simms. There was a prior ‘lady glasses' episode of Seinfeld with George.  Boomer said Brock Purdy should be the story for this Super Bowl. A guy who was picked last in the draft against one of the greats, Patrick MAHOMES. Niners are favored by 2.5 right now.                                                                                                                            Hour 4 Ravens TE Mark Andrews helped a woman having a medical emergency on a plane. It was a blood sugar situation and the woman was diabetic. Boomer wonders why he was on a Southwest flight with all the money he's earned. He's a large man and there's no first class on those flights. Maybe he's frugal. Gio was listening to the Theo Von podcast and found that the phrase ‘blowing smoke up your Ass' was something people used to do to try and help people with gut issues. We also talked about coffee enemas. Gio said he almost took a suppository to win a weight loss contest. Gio has nothing to do out here, with no family here. It's raining so there's no golf today.  Boomer was asked to measure his forehead for a temporary tattoo situation for the NFL Today. It's 6 inches long and 3 inches wide. How big is Peyton Manning's forehead? Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with audio from some of the players at the Pro Bowl Games. If Rutgers beats Maryland, Jerry gets $1,000. If Maryland wins, Jerry has to do a gummy on the show. This will all go down on Thursday's show. The Moment of The Day involves Gio, and what he'll do on rainy days in Vegas when he can't golf. In the final segment of the show, last year's Super Bowl week was dominated by the NBA trade deadline. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were traded in back to back days. Thursday, February 8th is the trade deadline. Could the Knicks and Nets make a deal?

In this solo Episode, Brock and Will share what they've been up to lately.  Brock just got back from Vegas, where he went to see his friend Morten, a DJ and music producer from Denmark. Morten was playing one of his several shows this summer at the Encore Beach Club at the Wynn Hotel. Brock shares how proud he is to see his good friend enjoying so much success, after seeing how many years of hard work Morten has endured.  Will has been working on many writing projects, including Kane, as well as producing a documentary which is in its final stages. Hour 1: The Mets swept the Phillies and the Mets TV broadcast booth said Max Scherzer is back. The Mets have suppressed their hump celebration in recent games. The Yankees are playing the Dodgers in L.A. this weekend and Giancarlo Stanton will be back. Boomer teased a strong, hot take. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with Mark Canha hitting another HR for the Mets as they swept the Phillies. Boomer is thrown off by Jerry's neck hair. Max Scherzer pitched well and talked about Canha's performance. The Nuggets beat the Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Nikola Jokic had a triple double. Stephen A. Smith has never tasted breast milk but he likes breasts. This in reaction to Josh Hart of the Knicks asking if anybody has tried breast milk. Jerry had lots of clips of Smith talking about breasts. Tom Brady told Sports Illustrated he is not coming back to play and he's sick of answering the question. Patrick Kane is getting hip resurfacing, whatever that is. In the final segment of the hour, Adam Silver said he will announce the Ja Morant punishment after the NBA Finals are completed. He said ‘we've uncovered a fair amount of additional information'. Is this additional good information or bad information?  Hour 2: Boomer's got a hot take that he's taking out of the oven. Boomer said there have been a lot of great games in NBA history, but we are witnessing the greatest individual playoff performance with Nikola Jokic. And we are right in the middle of it. The Knicks need another superstar player and now that the Knicks are pretty good there will be a lot of players linked to them. The latest is Joel Embiid to the Knicks. Gio said it will never happen. Jerry returns for an update but first Wally Szczerbiak is befriending Boomer & Gio's friend Lee from Casamigos. Gio is playing golf at a bougie place in Las Vegas this weekend. The Mets beat the Phillies completing the sweep. Mark Canha hit another HR. Max Scherzer is annoyed by the clock not allowing him to have 8 warm up pitches. Why can't another catcher warm up with Scherzer if Francisco Alvarez made the final out of the inning? The Nuggets beat the Heat in Game 1 thanks to a triple double by Nikola Jokic. Nick Nurse was asked if he wants James Harden back on the Sixers. In the final segment of the hour, last year Mike Breen had a house fire but his wife was able to salvage a signed Kobe jersey. Gio said if his house caught fire, and everyone was safe, is there something in the house he would go and get? Hour 3: We talked about the Mets and Shohei Ohtani. The Mets would have to give up a ton, and that doesn't make sense unless they are guaranteed to get him beyond this season. He is going to be the highest paid player in pro sports. The Phillies announcers thought Francisco Lindor was showing them up when he essentially bounced a ball to first base to complete an easy double play. Do you guys floss everyday? Al does, nobody else on the staff does. Jerry returns for an update but first we talked about the NY Rangers dentist. The Mets swept the Phillies behind an impressive performance by Max Scherzer and Mark Canha. Peyton Manning talked about liking Aaron Rodgers to the Jets. Tom Brady talked to Sports Illustrated to tell us once again he's certain he's not playing again. The Nuggets beat the Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Since we last spoke I attended the Digital Signage Experience along with the Restaurant Finance and Development Conference. RFDC was probably one of the best showing of operators, at any one event, in a very long time. Lots of takeaways from that event and excellent networking in the beautiful Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. While I was there, I was able to sit down with a good friend of mind and talk about what it looks like to run a restaurant chain that is heavily franchised. David Foster and Katharine McPhee have not recorded together in 17 years. What better excuse to get back into the studio than Christmas. The two will release their first Christmas album together this holiday season. Titled simply "Christmas Songs" the album will unwrap digitally on Black Friday, November 25th. (CD on December 2nd) The single, Jingle Bell Rock, is out The 16 time legendary Grammy winning producer has produced some of the greatest Christmas music of all time with artists such as Michael Bublé, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Rod Stewart and Mary J Blige. It's only fitting he now produces one with his wife, one of the greatest vocalists of today. This week’s featured guest on Chef’s Story is Paul Bartolotta. In 1980, Paul graduated from the Restaurant and Hotel Management Program at Milwaukee Area Technical College. His cultural education began with New York restaurateur, Tony May, owner at the time of the Rainbow Room and founder of Gruppo Ristoratori Italiani, the international food society devoted to maintaining the traditions and standards of classical Italian colleagues. Initially instituted as a six-month tour of duty for Paul, this stint evolved into a seven-year education of the highest order. Paul was Executive Chef/Managing Partner of Spiaggia, located in Chicago, from 1991 to 2000. He developed his culinary artistry in some of Europe’s most distinguished restaurants. Winner of the coveted James Beard Best Midwest Chef Award in 1994 and The James Beard Award for Best Chef Southwest in 2009, Bartolotta directed Spiaggia to every major national fine dining award. The honors include a Four Diamond Rating from the American Automobile Association, the Distinguished Restaurants of North America (DiRoNA) Award and numerous Critics Choice Awards from Chicago Magazine.
