And I think I'm sharing quite a lot with her, so that means that she's a really trustworthy person."("我通常不会在第一次见面时分享太多个人故事,但这次我分享了很多,这意味着她是一个很值得信任的人。") 所以,第一印象不只是"看到"对方的样子,更是从对话、肢体语言和相处方式中,慢慢建立起的感觉。他会再次约我出去吗?(Would He Ask Me Out Again?)Mattic 的回答是: "I would ask you out again because I think there's a lot of things that are still hidden in there that need to be discovered. Overcoming Call Reluctance

In this episode of the Power Producers Shoptalk, David Carothers addresses the pervasive issue of call reluctance among commercial insurance producers. He explores the psychological, environmental, and personal factors contributing to this hesitation and provides actionable strategies to overcome it. David emphasizes the importance of maintaining confidence, avoiding perfectionism, and adopting a proactive mindset to improve sales performance. He also highlights the role of visualization, self-assessment, and stress management techniques in building resilience and effectiveness in cold calling.  David encourages producers to create supportive work environments and utilize tools like CRMs and call recordings to refine their approach. He stresses the importance of setting realistic goals, following structured routines, and continuously reflecting on and improving their techniques. Throughout the episode, David underscores that addressing call reluctance is crucial for long-term success in the industry.  Key Points: Call Reluctance Defined: An irrational fear or hesitation to make sales calls, often rooted in psychological, environmental, and personal factors. Fear of Rejection: Producers often avoid calls due to fear of being told "no." Reframing questions to get a "no" response can empower the prospect and keep the conversation going. Lack of Confidence: Confidence issues can be perceived by prospects, especially gatekeepers. Sounding self-assured improves chances of getting through. Perfectionism: Trying to be perfect before making calls leads to procrastination. It's better to act and improve with each call than to over-prepare. Reflection and Feedback: Regularly review call recordings to analyze performance, and seek feedback from peers or supervisors for improvement. Stress Management: Managing stress and maintaining work-life balance is key to avoiding burnout and giving your best to clients. Practical Tips: Use visualization, set specific call goals, schedule dedicated call times, and leverage CRM tools for tracking and improving performance. Take Action: Address call reluctance by diagnosing the issue, setting goals, and using supportive systems like coaching and role-playing. In episode 10, I'm diving deep into the art of asking for business.   Do not assume just because you tell people you are a realtor this means they automatically know that you can help them I explore WHY we avoid asking for the business & I'll walk you through some practical steps on HOW to ask for the business I find Realtors become reluctant for 3 reasons: ‘ Fear of Rejection: It's a hurdle we all face. The fear of rejection can be crippling, preventing us from seizing opportunities. But imagine for a moment if fear didn't exist in your entrepreneurial journey. What could you achieve? To conquer this fear, reject it instead of letting it consume you. Remember, God provides us with confidence and strength. Rejections are a part of our journey, but they don't define your worth. Instead, focus on the countless 'YES' moments you've had.   Not Wanting to Appear Salesy: As realtors, we often worry about coming across as too 'salesy.' To avoid this, prioritize care, value, and contribution in your interactions. Build trust, listen actively, and address concerns. Always remain client-centered, focusing on their needs and goals.   Lack of Confidence: Confidence is key, and a lack of it can hold us back. Overcoming this roadblock involves embracing affirmations, celebrating your achievements, and practicing visualization. Remember, it's an ongoing journey.   As we venture into the HOW, I must clarify that I'm not offering scripts, but rather suggestions. Your unique personality and personal touch make these approaches relatable. The 'Direct Approach' may work for some, but many find it off-putting. Instead, consider the 'Storytelling Approach,' where you share your journey and make a genuine connection. We are more than just Realtors; we change people's lives   The bottom line is this: Don't be afraid to ask for the business. If you don't, someone else will.   Thanks for tuning in.    Remember, you are worthy of a purposeful, joyful, and abundant life.   Want to learn more about me and my work? These emotions can lead to market bubbles and crashes, highlighting the need for economists to analyze and manage such sentiments.Cryptocurrency and Changing Finance:Central Bank Digital Currencies: Dawie discusses the emergence of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and their programmable nature. CBDCs could be used for various purposes, including controlling spending and ensuring tax compliance.Decentralized Finance (DeFi): The clip explores the concept of DeFi and how it operates outside the control of central banks. It raises questions about whether DeFi will coexist peacefully with traditional financial systems or face regulatory challenges.Episode Highlights

Clarity - It's time to get clear So often we don't feel confident because we're not clear on what we want or what we're going after. Commit - to your success and outcome! Certainty - Once you're clear on what you want then decide. Decide on what you're going to do right now in this moment, in this month, in this quarter. Conviction - fully believing in what you're about to do. Communicating with conviction that you know that what you do can help your clients. That you know that what you have is great. Do a check-in. When you link on your website is there is conviction around what you talk about - that clarity and certainty is there staring at me? Connecting in a deeper way - Is there that certainty in the way you connect with your audience through your content? in your conversations? with your community? Courageous action - Take courageous action. No one ever knows what the outcome is going to be but what you can know or control is the action that you take. Right now you know a whole bunch of things that could help you grow your business - but you're not taking that action and you've got to work on that. You've got to sit and take the time to work out why you're not taking that action. One of the many things I loved that Tony Robbins talked about was the difference between desire and motivation. You might want something but if the motivation isn't strong enough, if the pain isn't strong enough then you won't take that action. So if you don't take massive courageous action then you'll have to go and get a job or you won't be able to pay your bills, then what would you be willing to do? Confidence - Confidence it's the guarantee of a successful outcome, it's the willingness to try. In this week's session, I sit down with Christy, as she opens up about her struggles with being active, connecting with people, and finding a suitable partner. The Covid pandemic severely restricted her social life so much that she considers herself a roadblock or obstacle to achieving her goals. “Once you start to walk through all your fear (because the fear is going to come); it's just a part of the human condition. But once you walk through all that, that's when you get fully into that 2nd phase where you start feeling better about yourself.” Lauren – (15:23)   During this episode, you'll hear many tips and proven strategies to make sure Christy takes the right steps increasing her confidence and empowering her along the way.    “I also think having an accountability partner is really important. Somebody else that keeps you on track. I always have an accountability partner. The universe sort of always lines me up with the perfect person” - Lauren – (05:58) When it comes to leading a fun filled life, half the battle is making up your mind and coming to terms with the fact that something needs to change. With a little determination and hard work, one would find that help comes from the most unexpected of places; something that Christy says herself, “God does meet you when you make decisions and when you push yourself forward.”  “When we want to do something, and we start taking action towards that thing, the universe rises up to meet us. I don't know how, it just does.” Lauren – (14:35) Listen in as me and Christy list down several key action steps that anyone can take up to get reinspired, gain clarity, boost confidence, and lead a fun filled life.   In this episode: (00:37) – Describing a fabulous life, 6 months from now. Welcome to part two of this series based on the Confidence of Young Women. In the last episode we talked about college aged women, their confidence, and the challenges they face. In this episode we are going to be having a similar discussion, but this time, with high school women. We are going to discuss how do they manage their confidence, and really, how much has changed over the years, despite women making more and more headway in education and the workplace.   Clarity Empowers is a new community at New Tech high school that is focused on elevating teen girls by teaching them life skills, encouraging leadership, education and most importantly confidence. Clarity, as they call it, was created and is led by teacher and educator Shannon Howard. She will be joining us today with two students of New Tech who are co-founders and key leaders of Clarity Empowers. Vibha R. and Sophia S. Together we are going to talk about what it is like to be in high school today, what challenges women face and how they get through it.

In this podcast series, we talk a lot about women's confidence. We discuss our trials and tribulations as adults in our professional and personal lives. But what has been intriguing lately to me is the confidence of the younger generations. How are the college and high school aged women faring? I wanted to know more about what is affecting and impacting their confidence at their young age, and importantly, how we can provide them support. I decided to record a two-part series to address this topic. In the next two episodes you will hear revealing conversations with the leaders of the Texas Woman's University Center for Women Entrepreneurs and then from the creators of a new organization at New Tech High School, specifically for young women's empowerment, titled Clarity Empowers. I think you will find these discussions in the next two episodes honest, a bit challenging, but also inspiring. My two guests in the first part of this series are Tracy Irby, Director of the Texas Woman's University Center for Women Entrepreneurs, and Dr. Donalisa Stinyard the Associate Director of the Texas Woman's University Center for Women Enterpreneurs.

This episode of The Beauty of Conflict was inspired by a LinkedIn post written by a colleague of Susan and CrisMarie, who explained that in leadership, confidence is being so self-aware of who one really is and our competencies. This episode is our take on confidence! For us, being confident implies a strong connection between two things: body and mind. In her work with horses, Susan recognized that they are unaware of what's happening in the human head; they only read the physical reactions of their bodies. We know that it's easy to say “build your confidence” but hard to actually do it, so we hope this episode was full of tips you can use when you feel uneasy and uncomfortable. The Case:  Leila has been dealing with Hashimoto's, Lyme and Crohn's disease for years.   She was managing her symptoms through a strict regimen of supplements, diet, and various practitioners. Emotionally, she was feeling disconnected, discouraged, and joyless. We so often focus on the biochemistry side of autoimmune issues that we forget the importance of taking care of our emotions and connection to life. In other words, there's more to feeling good than just the physical.  The Investigation Getting to the root of health issues, especially chronic and mysterious ones, is quite multi faceted. We really have to address it from all angles. While biochemistry is important, it's just one part and there are many areas that also play a very large role. This was what was missing for Leila and felt it was going to be important for her to really connect with herself and discover her true self.  This is not always easy so to help out, I invited a self-discovery coach to join me on this episode of Health Mysteries Solved.  Sara Katherine is the host of the podcast, Be Your Own Badass and the author of Your Self-Discovery Journal, I'm Awesome: Here's Why, and Be Happy. Be Calm. Be YOU.  Her mission is to help women achieve their goals without letting people-pleasing or perfectionism get in the way.  What is Self-Discovery? Before we can dive into self-discovery, it's important to be able to frame it. For Sara, self-discovery is understanding what you want and what makes you you. She says the ultimate goal of being in tune with who you are, your values, what motivates you and your passions is that the more you're in tune with these, the more action you can take in life. And, that action will feel authentic and right.  For someone like Leila, or anyone who is so focused on their symptoms and their health journey, it's easy to start to feel disconnected with that authentic self. Being able to tap into what makes you you again will help you take care of your symptoms and day-to-day issues but also remind you that you're more than what you're dealing with right now. How to Get Started with Self Discovery For anyone who has never looked into self discovery, it can be a bit daunting. Sara recommends starting small by tuning in to your intuition (which is just like doing a gut check). She says to hold space and check into how you're feeling about something. Pay attention to how your body responds to that thought. Too often our minds are going a mile a minute and we don't stop to check in with ourselves. She explains the concept of listening to our intuition as having an inner mentor (the opposite of the inner critic).  It's the part of you that understands you and wants the best for you. It has the best results for you in mind. Checking in with your inner mentor can take as little as 5 minutes. To do it, start by sitting in silence. Then, do a life audit and scan through what you're going through on a day-to-day basis. Pay attention to what comes up from your inner mentor. This is a great first step in reconnecting with yourself again.  How to Tell Intuition from Fear The challenge that many people have with intuition or listening to their gut is that sometimes, when we have fear, we call it intuition. Sara says that she has also struggled with this because anxieties can creep up and get in the way of intuition. She says it's all about understanding that deep connection to your truth which comes with practice. Practice by paying closer attention to your emotional and physical responses to things. Meditation is also a way to hone your intuition skills. She also suggests paying close attention to which feeling comes first. Usually, the fear comes first but when you sit with it for a moment you can let the intuitive response in.  Misconceptions Around Self-Care Ask someone for an example of self-care and chances are the response will be either get a message or take a bubble bath but are these really examples of self-care? Sara says they may be but only if that's what personally fills you up. Self-care is personal. Each person has a different way of recharging their batteries. For some, it might be connecting with friends while others prefer time alone.  There is no one size fits all for self-care - it is highly personal.  If you don't know what fills you up or recharges your batteries, you need to try new things and pay close attention to how it feels before, during and after. But, don't wait until your cup is empty - find what fills it up before you need it filled. For example, for me, if I don't sleep, I don't feel well. One of my forms of self-care is going to bed early and getting lots of sleep. If I wait until I'm tired to get more sleep, it's already too late. The Difference Between Self-Care and Self-Love The act of self-care is an act of self-love because it cultivates self-love. Sara also says to think of self-care as the action and self-love as the state you achieve. Being able to take care of yourself and understand yourself throughout the process, that helps you be kinder to yourself and appreciate different pieces about you. This all brings self-love into your life. Self-love also has to do with the inner critic versus the inner mentor. When we are in a state of self-love, we listen more to our inner mentor instead of our inner critic.  Being kind to ourselves, and honoring the inner mentor can be a challenge especially for those who are people-pleasers or perfectionists. The inner critic is strong in these personalities, so there is a lot more work that needs to be done to combat the inner critic. For anyone dealing with autoimmune issues or who are on a health journey, it can be very hard to focus on the inner mentor because things don't always go smoothly and the path isn't always linear. So, practicing self-care and cultivating self-love are really important because a negative mindset can affect the healing journey.  How Can a Lack of Self-Love Manifest Physically While this is difficult to prove scientifically, anecdotally there are many stories of people struggling with health until they are able to cultivate self-love. Sara says that she notices it physically. For her, it's the digestive system that responds to times when she is allowing stress to creep in, when she's not getting enough sleep or when she listens too much to her inner critic.   When you let the inner critic win, you end up in a negative state and that can spiral. You stop appreciating the positives, you may not do the things you need to do to feel good (like take time to go for a walk in nature or even just to take some deep breaths). It can compound if you don't combat it with some self-care practices.  Fueling Self-Care and Confidence Confidence and self-care go hand in hand. When your self-care and self-compassion are low, it affects your self-love. If your self-love is low then it's hard to be confident. For anyone dealing with autoimmune disease, this confidence is critical. However, Sara points out that nobody feels totally confident every single day. Confidence comes and goes. Sara says that confidence is more like a muscle than a state of being. Building (and maintaining) confidence requires regular practice, just like self-care. One common way to boost self confidence is through daily affirmations. Another is to remind yourself of what's good in your life by keeping a daily gratitude journal. These practices help you focus on the positive each day and give you support through the challenging days. Even when things are challenging, you can always find something to be grateful for - even if it's just the roof over your head or the apple in your hand.  All of this adds up. When you're taking care of yourself, you're practicing self-care and cultivating self-love and confidence, you'll find yourself in a positive state. Your body is more likely to respond positively to that state.  How to be Grateful When You're in Pain or Your Autoimmune Symptoms are Acting Up One of the first things to let go of when you are struggling to find something to be grateful for is the stress of trying to find the positive. Don't be so hard on yourself. It's okay to just feel what you're feeling; to sift through it rather than push it down. It's important to process the emotions that come with the struggle of autoimmune symptoms.  Processing these emotions allows us to move and find those little things to be grateful for. The more you do these practices, the easier it is to get through the hard days. It's a culmination of your daily habits, your emotions, your gratitude, and listening to your inner mentor. You can do big things but it's really about the culmination of the smaller habits that you integrate into your daily life. Even starting on such a simple level of gratitude of just what even exists right now in your situation. Spark Joy Another great positivity practice is noticing what brings you that spark of joy, passion or purpose. It could be anything from a book, a television show, spending time with a specific person or anything, as long as it makes you feel good. This is something you can start doing right away - just start by noticing feelings of joy. Ask yourself what the source of that joy is and note it. You might keep a notebook handy or use an app on your phone to make a quick recording. Be mindful and appreciative about it. And then you can use this to combat negative feelings and also to look for more opportunities to spark that joy again.  As you do this, you'll start to reconnect with who you are and what you want. This will lead to a deeper understanding of your passions and purpose.   For anyone dealing with a health issue, whether it's due to autoimmune or something else, this practice can help take the focus off your sickness or symptoms and shift it to the positive. Too often we start to identify with our illness instead of remembering who we really are. What is Perfectionism and How does it Impact our Health?  A perfectionist feels a need to achieve all things to the best of their ability, and often that means without any errors, missteps, or mistakes. They feel that if it's not perfect, it's wrong. Anything they do that is not perfect is seen as a failure. They have extremely high expectations of themselves.  Many high achieving people deal with perfectionism and it can be quite destructive to their inner mentor. And, it can make taking action impossible because the fear of not getting it perfect is debilitating.  This can be a challenge for anyone dealing with autoimmune disease or health issues because they have an expectation of their body that if they do everything they are supposed to do then the body should respond. If they don't get the result they are looking for then they take it personally. This further damages their inner mentor and allows the inner critic to take over.  Getting over perfectionism is a process - you can't just decide one day not to be a perfectionist.  Conclusion When it comes to healing, there are so many areas that play a role and mindset is one of them. This is where we started with Leila.  Leila had quite a few limiting beliefs around healing so this was where we began our work together. It took some time for her to realize the difference between what was reality and what was a belief. Deactivating limiting beliefs can take some time because they often come from a trusted source like a past caregiver or authority figure. If we believe these things then our body will also believe these things.  Leila also worked on appreciating her blessings. For so long, Leila had focused on fixing what was wrong that she stopped seeing what was right. Starting a gratitude practice helped shift this focus.  We also worked on her mind-body connection. I designed a set of exercises that she added to her daily routine. These helped her feel instead of just think. She never realized how much she can actually feel in her body and how much she was able to move and shift her own energy until she tried. Doing all of this really raised her mood and energy and sky rocketed her motivation. She was able to feel so much more in charge of her circumstance than she realized. Everything began to flow better.  Next Steps  We also did some new blood work because despite having Hashimoto's, she'd never been evaluated for her thyroid type. If you are unfamiliar with thyroid type, I covered it in this Free Training and I also have a step-by-step, customizable program you can access on my website: https://www.thyroidmysterysolved.com/ We discovered that Leila was ‘Unavailable Thyroid Type' so it was no wonder that her medications weren't working optimally since they weren't being absorbed properly.  We worked on shifting that by further supporting her biochemistry. She was already on a restricted diet and taking many supplements. I wondered if this might be having an effect on her mindset. So, we started looking at what we may be able to take away. I know this sounds weird but sometimes, the body can be overwhelmed with too many things.    Happy Ending After 6 months of working together, Leila's energy was higher, she was sleeping better, her aches and pains had improved, and she had a much better outlook on life. She was able to go out and enjoy life including seeing friends, eating out without worrying about it, and doing the things that she considers to be part of a normal life. She's so happy and grateful now.   Eliminating Health Mysteries For Leila we were able to find that missing piece of the health puzzle and help her regain her health. In this business, the agent of choice is the agent people know. Making cold calls and working with leads is uncomfortable because you feel like a stranger to those people. So, what is best way to get past being a stranger to everyone you've never met? Make them see you EVERYWHERE so it feels like they already know you! I'm talking about ad retargeting. The Wolfe of Real Estate, Erica Wolfe, has used this powerful strategy to skyrocket her business, save a ton of time, and build a wolf-like level of confidence. I sat down with Erica and Jason Pantana to talk about what ad retargeting is and how you can start using it today. If extra time, money, and confidence sound like something you might be interested in, make sure you watch or listen, right now.

Full show notes at www.LearningLeader.com Twitter/IG: RyanHawk12  https://twitter.com/RyanHawk12 Steve Magness is a world-renowned expert on performance, co-author of Peak Performance: Elevate Your Game, Avoid Burnout, and Thrive with the New Science of Success and The Passion Paradox: A Guide to Going All In, Finding Success, and Discovering the Benefits of an Unbalanced Life, and the author of The Science of Running: How to Find Your Limit and Train to Maximize Your Performance. His new book is called Do Hard Things. Notes: “The best aren't concerned with being the best. They're concerned with being the best at getting better.” Confidence: Confidence needs evidence. Acting with bravado we haven't earned only works on easy things. It backfires on anything truly challenging. Doing difficult things, even if you don't quite succeed at them, is how you develop real confidence. How do you find a good mentor? Do interesting things. Be open to learning and guidance. Be motivated, driven, and curious about something. Put your ego aside. Do good, quality work. The difference between real and fake toughness. Fake toughness is easy to identify. It's Bobby Knight losing control and throwing tantrums in the name of “discipline.” It's the appearance of power without substance behind it. Researchers out of Eastern Washington set out to explore the relationship between leadership style and the development of toughness. After conducting research on nearly two hundred basketball players and their coaches, they concluded, “The results of this study seem to suggest that the ‘keys' to promoting mental toughness do not lie in this autocratic, authoritarian, or oppressive style. It appears to lie, paradoxically, with the coach's ability to produce an environment, which emphasizes trust and inclusion, humility, and service. Sustained Excellence: Observation: the people who sustain success over the long haul are rarely shooting for success. They are focused on the path. Their goal is mastery, which knows no end. What characteristics do the best performers have? Don't get tired of the boring stuff Masters of compartmentalization Can flip the switch Know how to lose well Cultivate perspective Delayed gratification Drive from within Creating an enemy: Whenever an organization, group, or individual works hard to create an enemy to pit their idea/group against, it's a sign you probably shouldn't listen. Us vs. Them is the easiest way to exploit human nature, to get people on your side. It often means there's no substance there. The best way to get the most out of someone is to make them feel secure enough that they can take risks and fail. Most of us don't reach our potential because we default to protective mode. Threatening & demanding makes us protect further. Security and belonging frees us up. “Growth comes at the point of resistance. Skills come from struggle.” “The fact is that often coaches figure out what works in training and then the scientists come in later and explain why it works.” What can we learn about success and performance from Eliud Kipchoge? He is not fanatical about trying to be great all the time. He is consistent & patient. His coach says that the secret is that he makes progress “slowly by slowly.” Motivation + Discipline = Consistency He told The NY Times, "He estimates that he seldom pushes himself past 80 percent — 90 percent, tops — of his maximum effort when he circles the track." "I have a mindset whereby I am a human being. I am walking around as a human being. I learn to perform well at the same time being grounded. And I trust that being humble and being on the ground is the only way to concentrate" "You cannot train alone and expect to run a fast time. There is a formula: 100% of me is nothing compared to 1% of the whole team. And that's teamwork. That's what I value." “To be precise, I am just going to try to run my personal best. If it comes as a world record, I would appreciate it. But I would treat it as a personal best.”

216: Your Emotional Intelligence Profile

Hey – if you haven't checked out my FREE monthly webinars, now's the time! On the third Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m. Eastern, I offer a 1-hour webinar on a job search topic. To see this month's topic and to register: https://mastercoachwebinars.carrd.co Emotional Intelligence has been a hot topic for some time now. To my mind, this focus on emotional intelligence is recognition that it isn't just what you can do for your employer that is valuable, but rather how you do it. How you show up for your coworkers, your boss, your direct reports, your customers, your vendors. I'm pulling heavily today from “Leading with Emotional Intelligence” by Reldan S. Nadler, Psy.D. Let's start with the difference between IQ (Intellectual Quotient) and EI (Emotional Intelligence). We'll also introduce Technical Expertise into the mix – and how each of these play out as we progress through our chosen careers. Here's a definition of each: IQ “A number used to express the apparent relative intelligence of a person.” Harvard Health Publishing defines EI as follows: “Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to identify and regulate our own emotions, to recognize the emotions of other people and feel empathy toward them, and to use these abilities to communicate effectively and build healthy, productive relationships with others.” Technical Expertise is “The capability to perform the duties of one's profession generally, or to perform a particular professional task, with skill of an acceptable quality.” Research shows that as performers move up in their organizations, more of their success comes from leadership skills and EI than their IQ or technical acumen. We all know of people who were great at their lower-level jobs and so were promoted to a leadership role for which they had no experience, training, or natural ability. This often times is a source of job dissatisfaction. In the book, “Leading with Emotional Intelligence,” the author provides an EI assessment. This assessment can be used on yourself, your direct reports, in 360 evaluations, and in establishing goals with your direct supervisor. Here's how I want to use this profile: As I describe the 20 facets of emotional intelligence, identify the 10 that are most important in your career and industry. Next, think about how often you display that competency, on a scale of 1-10. 1 means you display that competency 10% of the time; a 5 would mean you display that competency 50% of the time, and so on. Feel free to stop and start the podcast so you can give some thought to each, or listen to this list multiple times. Finally, identify just 1 of the competencies that you want to give particular attention to over the next 30 days. It could be one of your weaker ones that is very important to your career; it could be one you rated yourself fairly high on but want to display even more frequently. Set some specific goals as to how you will improve that competency. Who do you need to speak to? What do you need to do? How will you measure success? Note that these competencies are important to develop throughout your career. It is never too early to being consciously working on competencies…and it is never too late. Here are those competencies (note that other experts will have a slightly different list): The first three competencies fall under the general category of Self Awareness. 1.    Emotional Self-Awareness: Recognizing your feelings and how those feelings affect you in your job 2.    Accurate Self-Assessment: Recognizing your strengths and shortcomings and focusing on how to improve your shortcomings 3.    Confidence: Presenting yourself in an assured, forceful, impressive, and unhesitating manner  The next general category is Self-Management.  4.    Emotional Self-Control: Staying calm, unflappable, and clear-headed in high-stress situations 5.    Trustworthiness: Openly admitting your faults or mistakes and confronting unethical behavior 6.    Adaptability: Being comfortable with ambiguities and adapting to new challenges and situations 7.    Conscientiousness: Taking personal responsibility to make sure tasks are completed 8.    Achievement Orientation: Working through obstacles and taking risks to meet challenging goals and continually improving 9.    Initiative: Seizing or creating opportunities for the future  Next we have Social Awareness.  10.Empathy: Understanding others' perspectives; being open to diversity 11.Organizational Awareness: Understanding the political forces and unspoken rules of work 12.Service Orientation: Being proactive about customer satisfaction and addressing underlying customer needs The final category is Relationship Management.  13.Developing Others: Giving timely and constructive feedback and mentoring 14.Inspirational Leadership: Communicating a compelling vision and inspiring others to follow 15.Influence: Finding the right approach to build buy-in; developing a network of influential people 16.Change Catalyst: Leading change efforts and championing new initiatives 17.Communication: Effectively giving-and-taking with others; continually fine-tuning your messaging and delivery 18.Building Bonds: Building strong networks and using them for answers and support 19.Conflict Management: Understanding all sides and finding common ideals to endorse 20.Teamwork and Collaboration: Being encouraging; drawing others into an active commitment for the collective effort  In the spirit of full disclosure, I decided to take this assessment myself. Here are the 10 I believe are most important in my career as an entrepreneur and subject matter expert: 1.    Emotional Self-Awareness: Sometimes people say something negative about me or are critical of my work. It is important for me to give those comments the proper place without derailing me. 7 2.    Accurate Self-Assessment: This one goes hand-in-hand with Emotional Self-Awareness. Can I take feedback and make improvements? Am I in continuous improvement mode? 6 3.    Confidence: Confidence is essential as an entrepreneur. If I don't believe in myself, how can I expect anyone else to? 9 4.    Emotional Self-Control: I live my business life on deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. I have to remain calm and level-headed no matter what. 5 5.    Trustworthiness: I'm not perfect, and my clients need to know when I missed something or messed something up. 8 6.    Conscientiousness: This one is a particular challenge as I build my team; everything is still my responsibility, even if I'm not the one personally doing the task. 6 7.    Achievement Orientation: No matter what obstacles are in my way, I have to meet my goals. 9 8.    Empathy: I have to be able to listen to my clients and understand their concerns – while still relying on my expertise. It's a delicate balance. 6 9.    Service Orientation: My clients know they can trust me to do what I say I'm going to do, when I say I'm going to do it. 8 10.Communication: As my team and clientele is growing, I am continually evolving my communication methods and tools. 7 Conscientiousness is the one I plan to work on for the next 30 days – and for the rest of 2022. As I grow my team and expand my business, I will keep a close eye on making sure all the systems and process I have in place or put in place serve a purpose of creating a delightful experience for my clients and my team members.   Are you in the wrong job that chips away at you every day? Suppose you don't do it, then you are out.  It's a cult-like mentality.#3 Gaslighting - you can't trust your judgment so that you can trust mine as a leader.  How you see the world is flawed, so you need to start seeing it the way I see it#4 Preach an illusion and continue to repeat.  We should be preaching a vision and continue to promote it.  His style is preaching an illusion (no basis in reality), and continue to repeat it to engrain it as reality.# 5 Surrounding yourself with Yes Men. It is OK to push back and be the squeaky wheel, but not playing the game right can cause damage and prohibit your growthTwo things about Trump's Leadership Style that are GREAT.#1 - Communication - He is very good at repetition and consistency.  Keeping his message the same. #2 - Boil down a complex message to something straightforward. Repeating things over and over again is designed to keep people in-line (example, "Fake News."Once Trump leaves office one day, how do we repair the concept of leadership? If we are going to get back to some resemblance of normal, it will be about emotion  It will not be easy for anyone taking over after a Narcissistic leader to redirect the teamTaking over and being a servant leader makes it much more challenging, but ultimately it will be what is necessary to get any organization back on track Guest Info GUEST INFORMATION! David Hauser, PhD Twitter: @realDavidHauser  Order Trump on LeadershipTrump on Leadership: Executive-ish Strategies for Tough Times https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08J1WX4BB/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_i_aN2BFbH3QA3A2  GLINTER SOCIAL MEDIA AND CONTACT INFO michael@michaelglinter.com (Email) https://www.michaelglinter.com/podcast-1 (Podcast) http://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelglinter2 (Linked In) #MichaelAGlinter (Twitter) http://www.facebook.com/michael.glinter (Facebook) https://www.youtube.com/c/MichaelGlinter (YouTube) www.michaelglinter.com (Website)

Tip #3 of the 4 Essentials of Effective Communication is: A Message with Confidence Confidence is an essential role in being able to come across as a master of effective communication. If you demonstrate that you aren't confident in your abilities, people will instinctively think that you lack experience and are bluffing your way. This may lead to one of three outcomes: 1) the client tries to talk you down from your initial quote; 2) the client doesn't hire you at all; 3) the client hires you at your original rate but isn't confident that you can complete the task to his or her expectations. If you're selling a quality service, you should be confident about your skill set. The more time you spend communicating with clients, the more comfortable you both will feel. In turn, you'll grasp the true concept of effective communication. Your Action Step for this tip is: If you tend to be nervous during a call, practice the conversation with your assistant or colleague. The more confident you are in the conversation, the more effective your communication will be. This is a great opportunity for questions to be addressed, so you can adjust the content as needed to ensure clarity. Tune in tomorrow for the last Tip of the 4 essentials of effective communication. Today we look at the myths or fears on aging and discover that there are things we can do to offset the aging process as well as discover the purpose, drive and enjoyment in our lives while we age.  Everyone is different, different life experiences, circumstances, environments, which makes every body and mind different.  It is an inevitable fact, we will grow old or older (or die), right?  Most people don’t look at aging until they have to, until they see wrinkles or find they are not moving like they used to. The word aging, promotes many emotions, both negative and positive. Words like been around the block, silver haired, blue haired, white haired, no spring chicken, on your last leg, fizzlin’ out, slowin’ down, becoming older, declining, fermenting, maturing, stale, getting on, senior, over-the-hill, retired, advancing, evolving. I tried to do it in one Pilates breath. Aging in America carriers weight. Let’s start with myths? A myth is a widely held but a false belief. It’s where we get mythology. When it comes to aging, myths have shaped our outlook, as well as our fears. The Frameworks Institute is an organization that identifies cultural norms that the public used to base an opinion or a fear about. A cultural norm is an attitude learned from family or friends that guide and often determine our behavior. This institute looks at research and a cultural norm and compares it to what is true and what is a myth. They’ve done that with aging. The Frameworks Institute have categorized aging like a Health Swamp. They explain it like a murky, dark, unpredictable, never knowing what’s underneath the mucky waters in America. Their biggest discovery is that our culture has developed ideas about aging that is not necessarily true and these mistruths have guided us into developing fears, and actually laws sometimes. Myths are a powerful thing. What guides these myths is information from social media, articles and ads in magazines, TV commercials, movies, even the mirror. Remember these not necessarily truth, they are myths. Today we’re going to talk about the first 3 myths according to the Frameworks Institute. Most older people will end up in nursing homes and will eventually lose their memory. Older people are completely responsible for how they age. There’s nothing to look forward to in aging.   I asked my friends about aging who are close to retirement age, threw it out on social media and tried digging deep for everyone’s opinion as to their own aging ideas. Most were brutally honest, most felt that aging was a real trip and they are attempting to embrace it will better attitude, more sex and movement. Everyone spoke of FEAR, as well, in particular, the three mentioned myth-fears. I’ve had older people around me my whole life. All my grandparents lived to be well in their 90s, highly productive and moving, and I’ve taken an interest in aging. I’m in an age study myself. My interest is aging started in my 30s when a conversation came up about the value of aging with my twelve year old daughter. We read a book entitled The Giver, by Lois Lowry. A 1994 controversial Newbery Medal book award. It’s an unusual book about community and characters, which you think at first is a utopia, where everything is perfect. You of course later discover that it is a dystopian society, the opposite of utopia, a society that dehumanizes their people, where there is no memory, no color, no choices in who you are or what you’ll be, no climate, no emotions and if you’re different, or not up to the norm that society thinks you should be, you were RELEASESED. They released children who were different, slower developers and the old, the aged. You later discovered that being RELEASED meant you were killed, erased. You did not fit in. My daughter was disgusted, she had two grandmas that epitomized strength. It put a light on aging for me. We can lose purpose when we age or lose our way briefly and often it’s due to fear. That’s when I decided I was not going to age the way everybody else ages. Wasn’t going to pay attention to fear. So I came up with my HALFTIME plan. That’s where I am today. It’s HALFTIME. What’s halftime? Just think basketball. Where you go to the locker room and discuss the front half of your game and plan for the next half. Well I am at halftime, a time where I can look at the front end of my life and all the life lessons, constrained choices and gifts I was granted. I can look at the next half and can then focus the best on the last half of my life where I had the complete choice or for the most part. I’m there now, at halftime. Aging is not easy, to see yourself change. The amazing part about aging and HALFTIME is you have the CHOICE in being the best you can be. Is there some fear? You bet. We can’t predict the future but we can mold it! The 1st myth and fear that the Framework Institute mentioned is that you end up in a nursing home. Only about 20% go to nursing homes to finish out their lives. That does not include people who have surgeries and go there for rehab. Science also tells us that cognitive impairment or memory loss doesn’t decline until age 85? Only 50% experience a decline. The problem is we expect it to decline which pushes the cart before the horse. We see information telling us it should decline as we age. It’s the same rate as most age groups. Think about how many times our child forgot their lunchbox, homework, backpacks, then think about the times you forget something! The really cool part about aging is you get to have selective memory. We are increasing our existence on earth in age, but not necessarily increasing our health as we age. Falls are still the top problem for older people but as whopping obesity issue is right behind falls. Obesity in ages 65 to 74 is the highest than any other group in America because of seniors eating pre-packaged foods and slowing down movement. The 21stcentury is presenting new challenges for scientists. The US Census Bureau predicts by 2030 that people 65 and over will inhabit 25% of earth’s inhabitants and will edge out children in population. They anticipate a demand for health care. In America, the general attitude is that we worship youth in our society, we don’t worship aging. Generally we don’t look at it until we have to look at it square in the eyes. Speaking with two experts on aging, they commented on this very same issue quite frankly. One was from America that had live in Africa, and she stated even though with Africa’s health crisis and govt. issues, one thing they did well was celebrate their elders and take care of them. The other, whose parents were from Japan said the same exact thing. They embraced their elderly and honored them. So is it America’s culture? When we get older does our value decrease? Generally speaking. The 2nd myth spoke of how older people are completely responsible for their aging. Genetics, according to the Centenarian studies, is the primary factor for aging fit and healthy. You don’t really have a choice as to who your patents are. Research says that the more education you have and use, the better health and fulfillment you’ll have as you age. While genetics and education play a part, it’s the functional part that provides independence as we age. It’s also the part we control. Research shows that the changes attributing to aging are actually caused largely by disuse of the body or lack of movement. Movement or exercise is not a fountain of youth, but it’s a good long drink of vitality! We need to move as we age. It’s estimated that in the last thirty years, neuroscientists have discovered that the brain is designed to improve with age. Not only can our bodies move, our brains can further develop too. Let’s look at the 3rd myth that there is nothing to look forward to as we age. Now, because I’m at halftime, I can take a different attitude about the ending of my life. If I’ve learned anything in the 1sthalf of my life, it’s this – “what you BELIEVE carries you”. Knowing and living by this has offset the mindset of aging. If you ask the 90 to 100 year old’s that still run, ski, hike, and move religiously their optimism and attitude carry them. For me at Halftime, I’ve learned how to be more optimistic, which is good because optimists live seven years longer than pessimists. And guess what? Optimism can be learned. So at halftime I use what I all a Hi-5, promoting the 5 Cs for the sole purpose of bettering ME and bettering YOU too as we all age. All 5 of these C words are woven into the concept of volunteerism to some degree. To volunteer, to give of yourself. Volunteerism helps you keep your eyes open wide to aging and to the choices you have! They stand for: Community– Many move to what is referred to as BLUE ZONES so they can be in communities that are just senior like. Research shows that if you are in a community of any kind, even creating one through volunteerism, makes your health better, increases your movement more, improves your life and offsets the aging process. Companionship– Having a family, friends to commune with research shows that you establish more wholesome relationships, which offsets aging and loneliness. You create companionship when you volunteer. Conversing– This is probably the most powerful piece according to science. Having a conversation with someone else is one of the biggest brain developers and remember our brains do continue to develop if we choose it to. Multi-cultural conversations, multi-generational conversations and even talking to yourself is found to increase your brain’s capacity. Core – I’m talking about the core of your body – your muscles, movement, strength training, the activities that get your blood flowing kind of movement. When you speak to highly functional 90 to 100 year old’s. They are always moving and exercising. Your body’s functions run smoothing when you move. Our bodies have the capabilities of getting better and stronger even at age 90! When you have a community with some level of companionship, you’re conversing daily and are actively moving it will lead to the 5th C. Confidence – Confidence means being comfortable with your own power. That’s one of the sweetness’s of growing older. If you are able to grow older with solid lifestyle choices, developing good habits of movement and developing your brain, you grow into yourself, finding an inner peace and happiness. Are there fears? Sometimes, but seeking, being aware of what we are capable of doing and being as we age, creates a better, more confident person. Growing older can mean you’re growing better and wise…BELIEVE IT! Everybody wins.    Show Notes [1:35] – Flipping has a lot of benefits and there's more to it than just money. Learning how to ‘flip' makes you better, sharper, and smarter. You become more valuable. More business savvy. More sharp. [2:43] – Once you start getting into the flipping business, you have to know a series of different strengths and skill sets that are vital and critical in making a profit. Eye for the Deal™: You must learn how to find the right items to flip. Research: Be a fast and effective master researcher. Selling: Learn how to sell better and be a better marketer. The moment you start making a profit is the moment you're in business, and that's right away. You get to develop critical skills and traits like discipline, hustle, and time management skills. Every time you flip something, you're not ripping anyone off. You're not scamming anyone. You're adding value to the marketplace. To the economy.   [26:19] – 3 WINS of flipping: What happens when you flip things? In the flipping business, there's always three people or three parties who win. The "Flipping Triangle" -- or the "3 Wins of Flipping" [31:30] – Flipping is FUN. Once you get into the flipping business, you won't believe the amount of fun you're going to have. You'll get this certain feeling that you can't experience anywhere else because everything is so random, new, and exciting. Every day is an adventure into the unknown. Besides all the money you're making, you're having such a fun time. It's exciting. Quotes: "Flipping, in general, the very act of you making a decision to learn this skill set makes you better... makes you sharper... makes you smarter. And without a doubt in my mind, I'd say it's even more valuable than a college course." "The moment you start flipping is the moment you become an entrepreneur. The moment you start making a profit is the moment you're in business -- and that's right away." "...it's everything you would have to learn as a successful businessman or woman or entrepreneur. That means in order to make a lot of money and be successful, you have to have a series of different strengths, traits, and skill sets. Ones that are vital and critical, ones that'll help you in all parts of your life." "We call it having the 'Eye for the Deal'. This will overall sharpen and improve your awareness all across the board with all sorts of things. You're constantly training yourself to see new opportunities. Then you start doing it on autopilot. It's like you become this beacon. It becomes second nature. You're fast, you're sharp, and you can quickly recognize profitable money-making opportunities." "This will immediately start paying you. I will immediately give you this Midas touch; one that'll shock and piss off your friends at the same time who are working their butts off all week long to make what you can make and maybe a couple hours." "Besides the money, it injects confidence and a feeling of power, making it such a valuable, rare and prestigious skill set you can be proud of. You become in charge of your destiny and finances." "...and you're just like, Wow, you know what? I don't want to work anymore for someone else. Those skills that you were building up the whole time – the skills of discipline, hustle, ambition, time management – all those skill sets will be there for you; ready to serve you because you spent all that time outside of your day job building them up."   Want me to answer your questions about flipping, side hustles, marketing, entrepreneurship, personal development, motivation, mindset, lifestyle — or anything else? That's why I go we get I'm like. I don't think I've ever said your last name but regardless welcome to Her Legacy Podcast.Raeeka: Thank you. Thank you. I do feel like a celebrity.Patty: Well okay so the cool thing is in this episode we're going to get a two for one. And by that I mean one of the passions of Raeeka is known for and is just an expert at is dating. Dating for single women. And at the same time we're also going to be diving into her business. This whole thing about being a dating coach and how to set yourself apart. So really meaty great conversation chock full of wonderful things that you can take away. So my first question is I like to get braggy with my guests. What do you believe Raeeka is your superpower?Raeeka: My superpower. I'm Raeeka. No I'm kidding.Patty: You're so funny.Raeeka: Well I mean my superpower is that I. Really "Love what I do" I. I just I mean I it lights me up what I do is I don't have to think twice about did I make the right decision. You know. And I think that. What sets me apart is the fact that I. Is that what you mean by super power? Like what sets me apart or what.Patty: Yeah we have to leave this one space that you know that you're damn good at.Raeeka: I'm damn good at helping. Women. Empowering them and attracting quality men in their lives.Patty: Perfect's.Raeeka: That's where I. That's where I shine.Patty: That's amazing. So how do.Raeeka: You know I'm good at being on stage because I'm an opera singer.Patty: I know I see that oh my gosh which is a total segue we have to get into but for this right now. How did you get started in this line of work of being a coach in this space?Raeeka: It had actually a lot to do with me being a very tortured performer for many years and because the world of classical music is very you know 1400's. It's stuck in the past. And so it's very. It is.I mean at least at the time that I went to school had nothing to do with mindfulness and consciousness and nothing like that was very you know patriarchy very you know you do what I tell you or get out kind of bang. And. So that and also 11 relationships that didn't work out that the guys cheated on me.And I finally after my fiancé left it kind of with a text message for Sex and the city I realized I am the common denominator between all these 11 guys. So you know the combination of like getting my confidence totally why nobody can break your confidence of being in an environment where my confidence was not being built in the opera world and constantly walking on eggshells and then having the situation with men.I was just like you know what I've got to figure out what's going on with me. And I got into really working on me. I really that was a big aha moment when I realized I'm the common denominator.Patty: That is a very humbling moment as well to be accountable for the fact that looking path past in terms of other relationships that you had and why they did it work and so switching because most people wouldn't have the wherewithal to think Oh it's me.You know most people would say oh it was him. And then he did this and then the other one did that. And really placing the blame and so for you to look inside and to really realize like wow this has something to do with me. That's really amazing. So how did you. Because it sounds like being an opera singer a trained opera singer had you in a place of as I'm interpreting you correctly. A lot of fear.Raeeka: In that world is still backwards.Patty: And so. Do you think that fear was also a part of the way that you felt in the relationships that you had.Raeeka: Hundred percent hundred percent and almost half my of my partners were actually opera singers. So you know and there is there's this huge difference between I mean talk about equality that it just doesn't exist. And you know women still get paid less than men in that war. It is just its ridiculous. But yes it had a lot to do.And you know there's something I want to I want to add into this because I don't want your listeners to be like well you know we're not all as enlightened as Raeeka is you know to hear that all of a sudden you don't realize where the common denominator. This was work in progress.I mean you know I got really you know like finding love you know being and being an opera singer required me to audition you know hundreds of auditions you know I mean and being rejected all the time like any business woman or any business. You know smart business savvy person who puts herself out there and the sells you know some people get your product and some don't. I. Fell into a big depression before this. You know enlightenment came over so it was work in progress. And you know I always had two mentors. Jim was our coach is one of them Jim's Fortun and then you know then my voice teacher Jane Randolph who was and they start with Jane are you crazy they initiate she is my mentor and she's really she's the one who got me started on looking inside and trying to figure out what's going on.So this was this was coming you know about four years before this realization and and thank God for that realization because that's how I became you know I built this business.Patty: Exactly. So the whole purpose of kind of drying on that the fear the self-doubt what you brought in from your business your career side into your personal life it all kind of it blends together because inevitably you can't separate them clearly and so I'm bringing this back to the listener who is maybe in a situation where you're working extremely hard and we know that that doesn't necessarily give you the net results that you're looking for.And I know that the performance arena. You are you all are true athletes. I mean some of the hardest working people I've ever seen because I have a son who is in this space and so I just know the incredible diligence and so when you do that it's at the sacrifice potentially of really building a relationship that is meaningful. And having the heart to cultivate that. So tell me because I think this is so perfect like. Entrepreneurs or people that are self-employed or building their own business. They're doing it potentially at the sacrifice of the relationships.Raeeka: Oh yeah. And this is why I love working with you know high achieving and ambitious women because those are the women who time and again say I don't have time for a relationship. I don't want to waste my time on a relationship and many times the fear of. If I am with a man he's going to take away everything that I've built in his.You know this fear of losing their freedom losing their life that they feared losing their authority where they are. And all of that is just as you say you know as you and I know. It's an interpretation. Right. And I hope I realize I grew up because I've been doing this for 25 years as a professional presenter.I grew up in an environment where as far as I can remember when I was like you know 22 or 23 I was told that hush hush if you have a boyfriend don't talk about it. I have friends who got who lost the role that they were given because they were pregnant.Patty: Oh my Gosh.Raeeka: Oh yeah I'm not kidding. This is a fruit. I mean again I asked if things have changed. Right. I mean as we know the conductor of the Metropolitan Opera was fired because of the #MeToo Movement.Things are changing in the classical world but it's always behind's of. I get it. When a woman you know or when as you know very focused work oriented woman. Says I don't have time. For a relationship.Patty: So you've identified that moment in which they say and they could be a moment that lives with them consistently. Oh I just don't have time for that. So tell us what are the things that keep. These women single. Is it just because it's comfortable being single and keeps doing what they're doing or like what it is like what keeps them are they are for ok fear.Raeeka: Fear. 100 percent is fear and. And you know and and. It's it's basically here's the thing. You know and this is something I want to give credit to Jim because that's really where I I I was able to put words to what I was feeling. You know we either can think in a vertical way or we can think in a horizontal way. Right. And when we get stuck in horizontal thinking and there's just that seed of fear that says what you don't get in the relationship. A man is going to come and change your life. And then then the horizontal thinking. Another thought is made and another thought is made and another thought is. And before we know it we're stuck in this chain of. Really interpret nothing but interpretations.Nothing but what we made up in a matter of seconds for ourselves. And then because smart people who get are people who have their own business. They're smart they are ambitious they are opinionated right. You have to be right because you believe in yourself. You have worked on your confidence. But here's the thing. When you. Have that's.The quote unquote I'm doing air quotes smarts. You also think that you're saving yourself or holding yourself back from getting into a mistake. Right. So what do you do? You want to protect yourself. So you started having these thoughts to protect yourself and what you don't really realize is you're actually sabotaging your productivity or sabotaging your success because human beings and I don't care what what type of a relationship you know. You know if you're gay if you're straight if you're whatever you are we are made to be in pairs. We are made to have partners. It's just it's an instinct it's an it's science it's not it's not a matter of Raeka's opinion. So when. We go against that. It's against our nature it's against the flow. It's against what actually makes us derive. In what we're doing.Patty: So I'm sure you've coached just you know so many people through this of what are in your opinion that as a savvy single lady. What are some thought provoking. You know stop you stopped to get thinking and say wait a minute. Is this me in my operating on a fear. So that you do have some tips like a call to action for them to recognize.Listen it's time. To focus on what's really going on here. Right. The fact that you are not in a relationship maybe you don't want to be in a relationship but ask yourself this question a deeper question how would you how would you get them to stop in their tracks and realize if there is.Raeeka: Well here's the thing I always say I'm not in the business of convincing anyone that they need to find love right. You've got to be it just like it just like you know we can't convince somebody to build a business. If that's not what they want so I can't I can't you know for someone to see what I'm seeing which is you know steps ahead of the situation. Obviously like any coach that's right. So here's the thing. I guess. You are if you are operating from fear I can tell you when you go to bed at night. These are some of the thoughts that you have. Is this it. Am I ever going to share this with someone. What if I am 80 years old and I'm alone.Do I want to leave any legacy other than my job. You know you want to have kids. And if the thought of that comes to you but then the fear stops soon in your tracks and says no you shouldn't be doing that right now. It's not the time right now you have you know your priorities are that you have to build the business or fix your roof or you know get a car or whatever it is.Right all these excuses that we come up with. I mean just nothing but excuses. Because finding love is something so instinctual that there is and as Jim's as plain and simple. There is nothing good about finding love that is against you being a successful business woman. In fact you are a and I will say this. I bet some of your audience is going to like Shrek their you know their shoulders or be like whatever you know and I say this again because maybe you will listen that you are sabotaging your business because when you do have love your energy. Is going to be very different. It's a fuel. The first person I want to talk to Patty when I enroll a client when I launch a program and its successful when I nail an audition is Tim. It always is Tim. So you have found love. Of course yes.Patty: As a dating coach you walk the talk. So what was it.Raeeka: You know there might be a day that we might not be a match and that's ok too.Patty: Right. So OK so that said like what is it that people receive from your coaching that you've seen time and time because you say dating with confidence so.Raeeka: Oh my goodness. The first thing that happens before they're coaching because I work you know with working you know as a high achieving ambitious women who are career women and their career focused women who have focused on their career all this time and then you know they're like shit I guess I want to be in.You know I want to be in a relationship what happens. Right. So that's when they realize they need help. Right. So I'm sorry what was the question or what happened to them. OK so what happens is before they find love time in again again they've either nailed an interview. And they got promotion when they many of them are like I cannot believe I finally got off my butt. And I you know changed my job. They become entrepreneurs. You know like they finally bite the you know what is it. Bite the bullet.Patty: Or yeah that's the expression Bite the Bullet.Raeeka: You know I hear these things as a foreigner but I don't know sometimes its part of the expression just doesn't stick with it. Yeah exactly. So you know they they become on. I mean time and again that has happened. I make all of my clients read dollars fought so easily.Patty: So there's definitely a correlation. Between having that synchronicity or the synergy that happens when you are in love and things are flowing and you bring that and it just crosses over into your business and it just makes the business better.Raeeka: One hundred percent because here's the thing. Our love life is the only part of our life that is related to all parts of our life our love of life is the most intimate relationship that we have and with ingenuity. That in order to be intimate with and I help single straight women. So what this is for anybody. So with intimacy. If you want to be intimate with a man or with your partner you must know how to be vulnerable. It's impossible. To find that and that's why you know. Hide shooting an ambitious career focused women have a hard time finding love. Not all of them of course you know those who do have a hard time because the vulnerability is missing now. As entrepreneurs we also got to learn to be vulnerable but we don't need to be vulnerable about every aspect of ourselves.I mean we are bringing a partner into our lives where sharing our bank accounts with them we're sharing our home with them. Maybe our kids with them you know we're sharing our sexuality with them. We're sharing our mannerisms as a as a human with them. I mean we're sharing a bed with them.Patty: Yeah.Raeeka: Right. So your love life examines your financial life your career life your health life your real your communications your spirituality. All of that goes. In to question for the person who wants to find love so that normally what happens with me is they've they get a jump in their careers or business.Patty: FantasticRaeeka: And then they they start building. Confidence Confidence. And self-esteem are two very different true selves. Confidence. Is very different than self-esteem self-esteem is when you constantly get a at school. And you're like yeah I can do this. But confidence is really related to self-love. When you love yourself and true. When in my method the you know I teach you know I walk my women through the quality man method. Right. And what do we do. We break patterns that are not working. We reprogrammed that dating operating system. And you know that the way that we're showing up and so that we can find love when you really goal. Into this process you realize that. That. You're building this. Deep Self-love for yourself and I know it's cheesy you know love your love for you love somebody else.Patty: Yeah But it's true.Raeeka: But when you do that. Finding a guy and onboarding a guy you know you know I'm talking like business language But boarding a guy.into your life is a piece of it. It happens so. Much with ease. I mean I've had single mothers with you know like the whole Brady Bunch happen with my clients. I've had you know women who are you know I'm you know picky. You know I like to travel the world and he needs to be this that and the other find love. You know it's it's possible for anyone to have that. And it's it all has to do with the way that we. Really truly. Respect ourselves and trust our self a person who truly loves herself and trusts herself will never say a guy is going to come and take my freedom away because you trust yourself that you'll never let that happen. But at the same time you don't have to wear your boxing gloves so to speak and go out there in the dating world and you know show men who you are.You don't have to wear the pants. You can still be very feminine and you can be that feminine energy because you know I always say if we want women and men to have true equality at work there needs to come a time where we all Embrace as women we embrace our femininity. Are feminine energy the nurturing listening compassionate because that's what's missing in the man's world and that's because our natures are different whether we like it or not as much as we want to be equal. One has a set up something that the other doesn't on their body.So we are difference. And you know I always say to my too women who are career oriented look at RBG. Or RGB who RBG Ruth Bader Ginsbarg.Look at her When she was starting she always wore her skirt. She always talked softly and that if you watch the documentary she says her mother taught her to always be a lady. And what did that mean to listen. And that was her key to success because she let these guys blah blah blah talk all they want to talk.Patty: Wait and she was supposed to take kind of a secondary seat at the table because that's the way that she was taught and so she was like really quieting her power.Raeeka: No she listened she let them blabber and then.Patty: And then she came in.Raeeka: And then she came in. No no no no. Her mom was always like her mother always told her makes sure that you are an independent. And she was a lady and if you see her talking and she was a beautiful woman. I mean talk about attraction. And she's very attractive woman. So she had a lot of you know that of that going on and she what do you think. Got her to be on the Supreme Court. How do you think she got there.Patty: But it was almost like she let everybody blabber and then she made her calculated right. She put herself in a place where she was being heard after all the noise was gone.Raeeka: Well that was her way of attracting people to listen to her. That's right. But the person the reason she got on the Supreme Court seat. Now if I'm saying it right now is. Her husband. She had partnership with her husband her husband believed in her. Her husband. Lobbied for her. Her husband wrote to Clinton. Wow. Her husband said. That. I I'm looking at this woman and she has to be out there. And and he she could he could in fact like not father but he could just sit back and do nothing.Patty: Right. That's right.Raeeka: That's what. Real partnership does for your business to think twice when you think that your business or many times you know I'm remodeling my house so I don't have time for this. Then you're not prioritizing.Patty: Right that was a better imperative.Raeeka: Let's just say it's not about it's never about time or money. You know that you guys are all entrepreneurs. Let's get real. Yeah. It's about that fear that tells you that if I do this does that mean I'm putting my you know mind on the wrong thing my energy on the wrong thing. I mean look at her life and let's all learn. And this is a woman who is in pop culture now.I mean she is. The other thing about it is that. She. Never forced herself she wanted to be a mom. She never went into the marriage with this fear that she is going to you know bring this man into our lives and not be who she wants to be because she knows she wants to fight for equality and justice like that was her. Dream.Right. Like all of us you know women entrepreneurs who are trying to leave a legacy. You know of ourselves. So. She found a man that was not the woman in the relationship but the man understood his strengths and her strength. That's what true partnership is.Patty: And they complement each other because of that.Raeeka: Yes. That's what Tim and I do. I don't for a second. Sacrifice my business or my and I do to. You know I mean I am a love strategist right. And dating strategies for women. And I also I'm a professional singer. I have liked a Wagner concert coming up in two weeks. So it am not a joke. The amount of time I have to practice and coach and go to voice lessons you know so it's it's a busy time and Tim is there for me. And likewise he is right now changing gears he used to you know he's a website design developer and he was working for himself and he's the one that he likes to work. For a company he doesn't like the management parts look he's looking for a job and we all know looking for a job is a lot of, it's work. So I support him.So when I can't I do the dishes. When he can't he does that. There's no like you know you have to do it or I have to do it. We come this from a place of love. It's when you come from a place of love. Anything is possible.Patty: So tell tell me about your business so somebody. And what do they get from hiring some of the concierge service that you provide. I supposed to say going to E Harmony or match right to say oh OK I'll just go out like that. I want to be practical about it. What's the difference. What's unique about what you do.Raeeka: Well because I'm Raeeka I'm not kidding. Just the mere fact that I'm Raeeka here's the deal you can go on and all the apps in the world that you want but if you're dating operating system is broken. And if you're showing up in that area with. Fear or merely just not knowing how to do dating in 21st century which is a very different world than where our sisters or mothers or cousins got you knows married. And obviously I mostly work with women in their late 30s and up. Right. That's that's the women I'm talking to though though I do have people in their 20s you know. I mean some some of them want to get started earlier with you know knowing how to know the ropes so and that's fine too. But when you go into that arena what are you going to do. It's exactly what. Einstein said. You know you're going to do the same thing over and over and over which is the because you haven't change anything. And it's the definition of insanity. What I do. The difference is of course we're going to go on the apps for soul teach your heart which apps are the better apps to go on and I'll teach you exactly what you need to put on your online profile because the whole point of working with me is to bring in quality men not just men.Right. So. As I said earlier I have a method called the quality man method QMM and in that I really. What I do is I show women how to break the repeated patterns of attracting the same wrong guys. Because if you were in your late 30s and your 40s and your 50s or 60s and you are not getting results then we are going to break that pattern first you don't go out there and do the same thing again.Patty: Right because whether you're swiping left or right and doing all that it's still it's just it's almost like that's such an external process as opposed to I'm sure the fact that you help them get internally aligned right through.Raeeka: Oh my goodness. Here's the thing. Don't waste your time. My suggestion is if you haven't done that work please don't waste your time. Because here's the thing. Let me just finish how I help them. And then this is really an important point that I want to bring home before we end . So what. Even after we break that pattern then we reprogram their dating operating system. What's your dating operating system. Our brain. You know it's a very brain based approach. To Dating. Brain and Heart. Because our heart is our second brain. Or. Whatever. You know it's it's a part of ours. Operation. Our feelings are very related to how we think and what we believe and what we perceive around us. Right. So. So I'm going to teach you. Techniques to reprogram it. And then. Find your life partner. Now. Dating in today's and this is the point that I wanted to talk about is dating in today's world has come down to milliseconds of swiping left or right. So you got to know how to. It's like knowing how to operate your computer. Knowing. We all took some sort of class to learn how to do this.Patty: Right.Raeeka: This is a different time than when our parents would say oh such and such as family has a son when they want to recommend to you and you might as well. Isn't that a time is not there.Patty: Right.Raeeka: Most of us don't get set up though it's still a very valid way of finding a life partner. But because of the individualism of our lifestyles and all of us being on our phones all the time we swipe more than we meet somebody that our parents or families or cousins set us up with. It's just the reality of what our life is and we text with our parents nowadays.Patty: Yeah.Raeeka: So let's get real. So. You have a very short window of time to show the person that you are. On the inside and outside on these dating apps to attract the quality men because a man who has worked on himself has done the work. Is going to be smart and who has that a choose on line. So. You want a quality man. You've got to be that quality woman.Patty: I love that.Raeeka: Quality woman is a woman who has balance. In all areas of her life. And I don't necessarily like the word balance because balance means equality so harmony. Because they're going to be times where you're going to be focusing more on your relationship. And less on your job because you onboard it you know 60 clients and you're good. And then there's going to be a time where you are launching and your relationship is going to take less of your attention and during that time you want to have a guy who gets that.Patty: RightRaeeka: So the fear of guys are not into supporting women that all of that. Quick let let's work on that. That's not true. What are you doing. Patty what am I doing. Well you know.Patty: I love the idea of harmony. I really do. I kind of it's come to this point where balance in general is so vague and it doesn't really mean anything and I think it's an all or nothing in this situation that I'm like.I'm fundamentally opposed to this whole balance idea because I think it's been so misconstrued versus I love when you said harmony. Because it's not internal harmony that is yours that is in a real time based on where you are.Raeeka: Yeah.Patty: Which I think is genius though.Raeeka: So this is I am sorry I know we're at the end of our call but I had so much to say with me audience I think we're you at the end. OK. So look at it here. Here is the thing that I really want to leave your audience when I know you asked this for me earlier. But you know I'm strategizing.Patty: Yeah.Raeeka: If I'm sure you all you know because you're smart women or you're like yes they're like oh look here's the thing you asked me earlier what is it that these women need to ask themselves. And I said I'm not in the business of common sense. This is the question I want to review with.Patty: OkayRaeeka: How long are you going to go before you realize that your job is not going to love you back.Patty: I literally just got chills because that's exactly right.Raeeka: And might drop.Patty: That as it might drop. That is lay literally hashtag because I know. I know women who are single that are sacrificing rebates like they sacrifice mentality that they're building their business. In the name of being focused on success. They think that that milestone whatever it may be is going to give them everything that they're looking for and they've and they've left everything else by the wayside. And the sad the sad thing is is that they're going to get there and realize like oh.This isn't what it was. What I thought it was going to be this didn't give me the internal peace of fulfillment and harmony like you talked about that I felt it was going to give me and end their show further along on the timeline. But then they're like Oh so this means I have to start from zero. Yeah. So what you're really saying is stop. And recognize. That you can't. I love this whole idea of Harmony. I really do. It's very powerful concept is really recognizing hey that not dealing with it not facing it not realizing it it's like you're you deserve to have it all. And guess what it is. But if you're only focused here it's just not going to happen.Raeeka: If you don't work towards having it all. So the whole point of entrepreneurship and leaving your legacy is to have. The life that you want to have. And this concept you're very I mean I love what you've said Patty this mentality that women have that we have to sacrifice because time and again it has been. Pushed into our dear conscious consciousness is DNA right. And we have passed that on generation after generation that in order to be equal with men. We have to do that. Ladies time. Times up. If worse than if we're saying hashtag Time's up. You know equality. This is what we need to stand up for. And I always say I I am all for the hashtag MeToo movement. I am a victim of the hashtag MeeToo because of being in the industry that I was. I wore a ring. All of my undergrads you know just so that I would repel men do not come close to me. So I get it. Well here's the thing. We are. The changers of our society.Women. We are the changers we are because we're nurturers because we're mothers. We change the society by the way we. Teach and nurture and bring up the next generation. If we want to be the equal to men at work space then we need to equally go to work with our boxing gloves wearing our skirts not our pants being in our feminine have our kids have love have that harmony feel fulfilled and have a hashtag boss lady position at work. That's when we're equal. And if we continue wearing our pants suit trying to look like a guy. Act like a guy. Being our masculine energy bossy boss energy just so that we. like. Battle of powers.Patty: Yeah.Raeeka: That you're just fighting. And finding energy is a catabolic energy whether you like it or not it's a negative destructive energy. How much energy are you're wasting per day trying to be like a man.Patty: It's exhausting.Raeeka: It's exhausting just like these. You're turning yourself into a pretzel. Yeah be like a man and then you don't want a man in your life. I mean see how that how crazy that is.Patty: It is crazy. You're so right. It is so true. It's time I love it. You said that like. Time's up.Raeeka: Time's up.Patty: Time's up playing this game that we all know it's not real anyway and it's like and we're doing it at the sacrifice of so much of who we are what we want to do feeling that we have to parlay or or put to the side or marginalize what we really want and it's just ridiculous.Raeeka: It's ridiculous. And we call that equality there's nothing equal there that it's so against our nature. That's not equality. That's totally not being integrityPatty: I love that. All Right. So one big question for you after all is said and done. What do you want your legacy to be.Raeeka: My legacy. You know I used to say I want to be singing I'm the biggest opera houses in the world. And I have no interest in that anymore. If I go there that's wonderful. But I am so not interested in that lifestyle. It's still not fulfilling for me anymore. So my legacy is that by the time I want. When there is when my memorial so service happens. I want. To have touched. 1 Million Women. And I have changed their lives to have this harmony. And love. Self-love loves all of them. PARTNERThere is nothing sweeter than that kiss that night. You know rubbing their feet and knowing that you have someone that has your back. I want to touch that I want to do that and you know really what I do at dating with confidence is empower women so if I can empower one million women to be better mothers to not just get out of this battle of sexes to not bash men to love to come to work to the world with loving energy and kick ass I've done my work.I will. I am happy to leave life you know and that's a dream that's a go. And you know as we're learning with our coach Jim if I were to leave today I'm still very happy because I've touched many lives. I know that. And I have been touched in many ways you know.Patty: Well that is beautiful. Raeeka Yaghmai. Thank you so much for being on her legacy podcast. We want to know how did people get in touch with you and I understand that you have a little freebee of how the audience can engage with you. Tell us more about that.Raeeka: Yes sure. So for those of you who are looking you know who listen to this and you're like you what you are. I got to do something great. Let me do something I want to give you a really cool training that's going to guide you find because in the arenaI'm dating. There are four types of men three of which. Four types of men that come across as relationship ready three of which are not.Patty: Oh wow.Raeeka: Right.Patty: There is a 75 percent failure rate is what you're saying. If you don't know what you're doing.Raeeka: Yeah. Yeah. See. See that's why you are the marketing lady with numbers and I'm the opera singer who like my mind was just blown away. Now that I think about the numbers yes 75 percent. So here's the thing. The reason we don't succeed in dating we're dating becomes such a burning out process is because we haven't educated our self. It's like launching you know our you know core is like wanting to launch our product without knowing how to do online marketing. It's exactly that you educate yourself so you got to educate yourself about dating.Patty: Right.Raeeka: It's like because nowhere in our education system we learn about this. So I have put. I am the Education right. So I've put a comprehensive handout which is called the broken picker solution. It's a solution to a broken picker. You don't pick the wrong guys right. That's how we're going to change your dating operating system. It's to understand men the characteristics. And it's a really cool handout. You're just going to download it for free and you read it on your iPhone. Right. It's totally mobile friendly. So you read it or you or if you're busy and you don't have time and you want to listen to when you're driving then you listen to any downloading pizzeria and you listen to it.Patty: Great.Raeeka: Because if you go out there and you don't know these characters. That's why you get burnt out. You think that you're not really listening to the guy and while he's a player or a needy or a noncommittal or you know you know quality casual guy and that's not some way that's a waste of your time. So educate yourself so you don't have to waste your time.Patty: Perfect. So that link as well as social media handles website how to get in touch and connect with Raeeka Yahgmai or Raeeka She's known all over the World.Raeeka: R A E E K A that's just fine.Patty: That's it. Learning how to communicate effectively is crucial to the survival of your business; unfortunately there's no other way to cut it. If you approach people too casually, don't take the time to communicate clear information, or don't appear cordial, you are risking the success of your business. Below are four essential tips to ensure effective communication. 1. Listening is the No. 1 Rule Contrary to what some seem to believe, the most important aspect of effective communication isn't talking, it's listening. A great amount of miscommunication could be avoided if business owners took the time to communicate effectively, first by listening to the needs of their clients and prospects. Remember, your clients may not need you, but you definitely need your clients or you're going to be out of business. Your focus should be filling the needs of your clients, not the other way around, and that starts with listening. Granted, it can be challenging to listen without speaking, but it will get easier with time when you understand the purpose behind first listening. Not only do you have an opportunity to really listen to what your client needs, but you have time to form the best reply or answer. Give your client all the time they need to explain their concerns. If you are short on time, politely offer your help at the beginning of the conversation and add that you are limited on time. Also offer an opportunity for the clients to speak to you at a later time and offer to call back when it is convenient for both of you. Be sure they understand you want to help them and will do what it takes to listen. 2. Clarity is Always Key What may be second nature to you may seem like a foreign concept to some people. When in doubt, leave out the jargon. However, if a client shows interest in understanding the small details, offer the acronym after you've explained what it means. The goal here is to be sure your clients understand what you're specifically discussing. One word of caution: don't over simplify. Speaking to your client as if they are unintelligent will not win you any fans. You will have to pay attention to their personality and try to gauge how much detail they really need or want. As you know, there are some clients who need to know every single detail of a project or process, while there are others who could care less about the details - they just want to know how to get from point A to point B. It's up to you to look for clues as to the personality of your client and how to direct the conversation. It is better to provide less information as those who want more information will ask for it. Don't waste people's time with things they don't really need to make a decision, unless you are legally required to do so. 3. A Message with Confidence Confidence is an essential role in being able to come across as a master of effective communication. If you demonstrate that you aren't confident in your abilities, people will instinctively think that lack experience and are bluffing your way. This may lead to one of three outcomes: A) the client tries to talk you down from your initial quote; B) the client doesn't hire you at all; C) the client hires you at your original rate but isn't confident that you can complete the task to his or her expectations. If you're selling a quality service, you should be confident about your skill set. Of course, if you're a startup entrepreneur know that it gets easier as your experience increases - just don't let the client see that you are at all insecure about your talents. Honestly, being new to entrepreneurship is not a deal breaker. What is a deal breaker, however, is if the client feels you cannot competently complete the task. The more time you spend communicating with clients, the more comfortable you both will feel. In turn, you'll grasp the true concept of effective communication. 4. When You Can't See Eye-to-Eye It happens - your personality sometimes clashes with that of a client's. Does this mean you need to immediately end the business relationship? No, it certainly does not. When you can't see eye to eye with your clients, it's important to let go of your ego, and remain calm. Your disagreements may stem from the fact that you're not communicating effectively. If you've offered your professional opinion to a client, and your opinion was ignored, take it with a grain of salt. You've fulfilled your professional and ethical duty by informing your client. It's nothing personal, it's just business. If you allow the rejection to get to you, you'll lose out on a lot of valuable business and will ultimately never be able to understand how to communicate effectively; when it comes to practicing effective communication with clients, emotions shouldn't be involved. When you take on the role of business owner, you take on the commitment to never-ending personal and professional improvement. Here are four steps that you can implement now that will help you provide effective communication: Action Step #1. Listen before speaking. If you must set the tone for the call, reword the phrase so the subject is about your client, not about you. Instead of saying, “I want to discuss….” you could say, “What questions or concerns would you like to discuss today.” Action Step #2. Be clear with your words. An easy way to keep track of what needs should be addressed, write a brief outline of topics to be covered and check them off as they are discussed. You could additionally, go over the checklist during the introduction part of the call so your client is clear about what you will be providing. Revisit the checklist at the close of the conversation and encourage the client to ask questions if they are unclear about any of the topics. Action Step #3. If you tend to be nervous during a call, practice the conversation with your assistant or colleague. The more confident you are in the conversation, the more effective your communication will be. This is a great opportunity for questions to be addressed so you can adjust the content as needed to ensure clarity. Action Step #4. It's going to happen - there will be some clients that you just don't jive with. Don't take it personally and focus on the commonality and areas where you see eye-to-eye. Remain professional and pay attention to providing quality service or products until the client moves on. If you do get value from these Podcasts, please take a minute to leave me a short review. CM19: How to decide which features to add, keep, and kill to avoid "Experience Rot" w/ Steven Ray

Welcome to episode #019 of Custom Made and today I’m joined again by Steven Ray, Partner and Head of Research and Design here at Dialexa. Steve leads experience and creative direction at Dialexa partnering closely with clients and developers to create a seamless user experience. Steve previously joined me on Episode #7 of Custom Made where we discussed the value of designing the wrong product. Once you have finished with this episode, be sure to check out Episode #7. Steve believes that focusing on the user frequently gets over-shadowed by focusing on the interface and that it’s important to learn about the person and cater the technology to the user rather than make the user figure out how to use the technology or interface. Steve and his team continually bring the latest thinking and techniques in how we design products here at Dialexa, both visually and from a user experience - there is a difference between these two approaches that should never be undervalued. On this weeks episode Steve and I are exploring how to decide which features to add, keep, and kill to avoid “Experience Rot”. We define Experience Rot as a product that has ever increasing features being added, leading to increasing complexity, which decreases the user experience and ultimately starts to cost you users (and revenue). When working on your product roadmap it is as important to assess which features need to be removed from your product over time, as it is which existing or new features will continue to drive growth and increase engagement. Not all feature bets will pay off, and it is better to move them to a feature graveyard than have them clutter your user experience. As you look at all of your existing and potential features it can be difficult to identify which to add or remove, and in what order. During our episode Steve suggests the following: - Carefully review the usage analytics of each live feature - Leverage simple surveys of the small percentage of people that use a low-used feature to see if they would have an opinion if went away - Prioritize your current and potential feature list in two ways - user segments affected and by using an I.C.E. score By understanding which user segment or segments a feature aligns with, you can make sure you see who, and how many, of your users and potential users will be affected by either adding, removing or keeping a particular feature. This ensures that you are focusing on your business critical users as you make feature decisions. A feature I.C.E. score is defined as 1-5 grading of the following elements: - Impact: Impact can be on the Business or the User - this could be the cost to the business to run the feature or opportunity to increase retention of a particular user segment - Confidence: Confidence in the impact on the business or customer. Make sure you are armed relevant data points and feedback from your - Ease: Find out how difficult it is to add, remove or maintain the feature. What is the level of resources required? Does your business even have the current skills set to make the change? You then total these up for each feature and rank highest to lowest to prioritize.
