John is joined by American singer and songwriter d4vd, to talk about how he wrote and recorded his debut album ‘Withered'.  David Burke, aka d4vd, broke into music after beginning to produce tracks of his own to accompany Fortnite videos. Having taught himself how to make music on BandLab and uploading tracks online, he first saw success with the single ‘Romantic Homicide', becoming a viral hit. He has since released multiple singles and two EPs ‘Petals to Thorns', which charted on the Billboard 200, and ‘The Lost Petals'.  In this episode, John and David dig into the creative process behind his debut album ‘Withered' and chart David's journey from YouTuber to recording artist. They discuss the details of producing with BandLab on his phone, creating his own vocal chain presets from scratch, and the themes of vulnerability and emotion behind this new record. Wer cremt schon? Und was bringt's überhaupt? On top gibt's Insta-Doppelmoral deluxe: „Ich will ne feste Beziehung“ – aber liken, was das Jock hergibt. Widerspruch? Darüber sollten wir diskutieren. Wir blicken nach Marrakesch, wo queeres Leben überraschend offen (und wild!) gefeiert wird. Und schauen nach London zur Roast Party – 5 Floors, Männer only, Darkroom inklusive. Last time Gerry Duggan was on the show, we were talking about his photography project Timing/Luck and ironically what made me a fan of his work isn't The X-Men or any other of the of great titles and characters he's penned and developed over the years, what made me fall in love with it was a breakdancing skeleton named Walt. You might be asking yourself why that may be. A few years ago I lost one of my best friends to a motorcycle accident and at the time while processing the grief as best I could, Walt dropped in the pages of The Dark Room, a book Gerry cooked up with the uber talented Magic Johnson of comics Scott Buoncristiano. Walt's energy was a mirror image of my friend Tommy's, and it turns out The Dark Room was a project centered around the loss of one of Gerry and Scott's mutual friends so this project has been one of dealing with grief through comedy, and I'm forever grateful to them both for being willing to share that vulnerability with the world. This series will go down as one of my favorite of all time and it was a pleasure to get a chance to pick Gerry and Scott's brains about some of the motivations behind it in advance of the second volume being released later this year. Gerry on BlueSky Scott's website The Dark Room Volume 2 from Image Comics From the publisher Gerry Duggan (X-Men & Uncanny Avengers) rejoins your favorite artists Scott & Tamra for the anticipated return of your favorite fantasy/horror/comedy series! Dounia, her ex, a werewolf, and her pal Walt, an incandescent blue skeleton, are joined by a mysterious psionicist fresh from a terrible prison. This time the world is threatened by a powerful old Necromancer that's resurrecting the dead from Finland's Winter War. More curses, more threats, zombies, wizards, cursed objects and the threat of the war to finally end mankind. PATREON We have a new Patreon, CryptidCreatorCornerpod. Wait for it. Have you ever felt like success, love, or happiness was just out of your reach? Do you feel like there's something bigger waiting for you, but you're not sure how to grasp it? On our Love University podcast, we explored what it means to step into your Invincible Self—and achieve your dreams—not by forcing change overnight, but by making small, meaningful shifts that open doors you never knew existed. Here are 8 powerful ways to unlock your unstoppable success in 2025: The Thing You Seek Is Seeking You What if your biggest desires—love, success, purpose—are also looking for you? Consider Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx. With only $5,000, she noticed a problem (uncomfortable shapewear) and realized the solution was calling her just as much as she was searching for it. The same happened with Tim Berners-Lee, who invented the World Wide Web—his vision for a connected world was something humanity was already yearning for. The Dark Room: Desire Versus Resignation Imagine standing in a pitch-black room filled with everything you need, but you can't see it. You fumble for a light switch but come up empty. Frustrated, you think, maybe I should just accept the darkness. Then a thought hits you: What if the switch isn't on the wall? You feel around, find a button on the floor, press it—and suddenly, light floods the room.  You see everything you need. Do You Want It as Much as a Dying Person Wants Life? True desire is intense. Imagine someone fighting to survive—they don't hesitate, doubt, or give up. They fight with everything they have. That's the level of passion you need for your goals. Be the Thing You Long For If you want love, be loving. If you want success, act as if you're already successful. The moment you embody what you seek, the world starts reflecting it back to you. Lift Your Mind Above Effort and Resistance Many people struggle because they fight against life instead of flowing with it. Imagine trying to swim upstream—it's exhausting and gets you nowhere. Now, picture letting go and allowing the current to carry you. When you do this, love, happiness, and success will surely flow to you. Attract High-Value Relationships Your relationships are a direct reflection of your energy. If you radiate confidence, kindness, and self-worth, you'll attract people who have the same qualities. Now your relationships become your golden treasure. Search for Worthier Prizes Sometimes, failure is just a redirection to something better. Consider Lady Gaga who was dropped by her first record label after only three months. Devastated, but determined, she refined her artistry and soon became one of the biggest pop stars in the world. Reverse the Desire Not every desire is meant for you—and that's okay. Sometimes, the greatest act of self-love is letting go. Holding on to something that isn't aligned with your true path—whether it's a relationship, career, or outdated dream—only blocks the right opportunities from finding you. When you release what no longer serves you, you create space for something far greater to take its place. Remember this: What you seek is also seeking you. Align your energy with your desires, and opportunities will follow. Even when life feels like a Dark Room, keep searching—the light switch is there. Success, love, and happiness require full commitment. Sometimes setbacks are actually redirections toward something better, but you must be willing to let go of what no longer serves you. The moment you fully embrace your worth, act with purpose, and let go of what doesn't belong to you, you will naturally attract the success, love, and joy that were always meant for you. Here's to your Invincible Year.

We're a day away from February, which is not important. We're also a day away from Phobruary, which is very important — so important, in fact, that we slapped it at the top of this episode. If you've somehow not partaken of Phobruary in its previous 11 years of existence, the gist is that it's an annual celebration of the Vietnamese noodle soup at a handful of restaurants in Milwaukee's Silver City neighborhood. The 12th installment includes the following three eateries and their respective specials:Vientiane Noodle Shop — $7 small beef/meatball pho bowlThai-Barbq Restaurant — $7 small steak pho bowl, $5 for three egg rolls, #3 BBQ meat skewer, $5 shrimp skewerPK Palace — $7 small beef/meatball pho bowl, 10% off total purchase (not valid for pho promotional price)All three of the restaurants are on National Avenue between 34th and 38th streets, so if you really like your pho, you could easily eat your way from one to the next to the next and then probably feel uncomfortably full for the rest of the day. But satisfied.Speaking of which, here's what else we discuss to satisfy your weekly need for Milwaukee culinary news:Momo Mee has whipped up a very special menu to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Two special dinners at Lupi & Iris will focus on winter cocktails (Feb. 7) and petite black truffles (Feb. 11).Marcus Hotel restaurants have Valentine's Day events galore at Mason Street Grill, The Pfister and The Dark Room.Venturing outside Milwaukee, we talk about Our South, a cookbook focused on Black Southern cuisine.Back inside Milwaukee, we've got something special baked into this episode, Radio Milwaukee's Dori Zori. She and Kristen Schwab from The Wolf on Broadway talk about their food-and-music pairing at the upcoming SoundBites event happening at the Harley-Davidson Museum on Feb. 27. You can learn all about it here or just skip right to buying tickets.
