Jacob is joined by Kevin Lee Kharas (@kevkharas), lead singer of Real Lies and devoted Arsenal fan, for a wide-ranging conversation that blends music, football, and the madness of modern fandom. From his surreal day filming content with Myles Lewis-Skelly and watching Piero HincapiĂŠ model Christmas knitwear, Kevin dives into why he sees Mikel Arteta as building nothing less than a dynasty. The two discuss the cult-like intensity of Arsenal players, the tactical evolution under Arteta, and why football podcasts might just be the most powerful addiction in modern Britain. Expect hot takes on the âFat Manâ Viktor GyĂśkeres, Martinelli's role as an impact sub, Eze's best position, and how Arsenal's defence could be the foundation for turning 1â0s into fours and fives. They also look ahead to the huge clash against Manchester City at the Emirates. Britain's leading forensic pathologist Dr Richard Shepherd has performed over 23,000 postmortems and given evidence in some of the most high-profile cases of our time, from Hungerford to Hillsborough, from Princess Diana to David Kelly. But his fascination with death began much earlier, when his mother died suddenly from heart disease and he was left with questions no one could answer. In this episode of Full Disclosure, Dr Shepherd tells James O'Brien how that childhood loss set him on the path to forensic medicine, how his father's emotional openness shaped him, and how a book brought into school by a friend gave him his first glimpse of a profession that would define his life. He reflects on the leap from observing to performing autopsies, the responsibility of telling the truth in court, and the lasting emotional toll of cases that never leave you.Candid, unflinching and deeply human, Dr Shepherd shares how a lifetime spent uncovering the truth about death has shaped the way he lives.Find out more about Dr Richard Shepherd Time of Death tour here

First: a warning from history Politics moving increasingly from the corridors of power into the streets, economic insecurity exacerbating tensions and the centre of politics failing to hold; these are just some of the echoes from Weimar Germany that the Spectator's editor Michael Gove sees when looking at present-day Britain. Ever since modern economic growth began three centuries ago, people have suffered from periodic bursts of anxiety about the technologies of the time taking on the work that they do. This opening lecture explores the history of âautomation anxiety' â from the Luddites who smashed framing machines at the start of the Industrial Revolution in Britain to the protestors who set driverless cars on fire on the streets of San Francisco today. Time and again, their main worry â that there would not be enough work for people to do â turned out to be wrong. But they did have legitimate grievances as well. This lecture was recorded by Daniel Susskind on the 9th of September 2025 at Barnard's Inn Hall, LondonDr Daniel Susskind is a writer and economist. President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a $350 billion tech investment plan dubbed the "Tech Prosperity Deal." President Trump says the tech partnership could generate $50-billion in 'economic value' and create 2,500 jobs in the U.S., and Prime Minister Starmer added it will create 15k jobs in Britain. This, a day after the Feds announced interest rate decrease, and on the same day Intel was up 25% ahead of the opening bell after Nvidia announced it will invest $5 billion in Intel. FOX's John Saucier speaks with Chris Markowski, financial expert and host of the 'Watchdog on Wall Street' podcast, who says the tech partnership is a good deal but possibly better for the United Kingdom. It's been a hellish week for our Disunited Kingdom. First Tommy Robinson mobilised ten of thousands in his âUnite the Kingdom' march. Before we could recover from that toxic side show, the headline act arrived: President Trump. He was kept behind a ring of steel in Windsor where he enjoyed British brown nosing at its best from flatterers-in-chief, the Royal Family. What a state we're in. Coco and Nish reflect on what they learned about their fellow Brits this week and the conclusion is scary. But before they abandon hope there was another march. Thousands of âStop Trump' protestors came out onto the streets of London - to hear from a range of the UK's loudest progressive voices, from Zarah Sultana, to Zack Polanski and Jeremy Corbyn. Two protests, two faces of Britain. Can we ever bridge the divide? Finally - to round off the show, an injection of hope. Josie Naughton CEO of charity âChoose Love' joins the pod to show us that there definitely is a way through this. What mattered most for survivors of the Holocaust, indeed, what made their survival possible, was not only that the Allies had better ideas about democracy and civilization, though of course Britain, America, and the other Western Allies did. It was that they actually won the war. They defeated the Germans on the field of battleâon sea, land, and air, in the hills and in the streets. It's not enough for us to rest contentedly on the superiority of our ideas. We also have to fight. But at this moment, the fundamental political fact of the last 80 yearsâthat it was an indispensable and untarnishable achievement for the Allies to have destroyed the Third Reichâis itself under revisionist assault. The Internet talk-show host Tucker Carlson last year promoted the podcaster Darryl Cooper, calling him âAmerica's most honest historian,â and airing his claim that Winston Churchill was the âchief villainâ of World War II who âescalatedâ what Hitler supposedly intended to be a limited conflict. As one of this episode's guests reports in the Wall Street Journal, when the Holocaust-denying podcaster Jake Shields polled his social-media followers about who they thought was âthe biggest villain of World War II,â 40.3 percent chose Churchill over Hitler (25.3 percent) or Stalin (25.9 percent). Darryl Cooper or Jake Shields are teaching a new generation of Americans a grotesquely distorted view of our own history. To understand why that is, what can be done about it, and what's at stake for Jews and America, Mosaic's editor Jonathan Silver sat down Rabbi Meir Soloveichik and Andrew Roberts. Roberts is a distinguish historian and the author of more than twenty books. His 2018 biography of Churchill, Walking with Destiny, was the rare work that deserved all of the glowing praise it received, and there is perhaps no person living who knows more about the 20th century's greatest man than Roberts. On November 1, 2022, he was elevated to a peerage as Baron Roberts of Belgravia. Rabbi Soloveichik is the religious leader of Congregation Shearith Israel, the director of the Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought and Yeshiva University, and vice-chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. This conversation took place at a private event held for members of the Tikvah Society. You can learn more about its activities and how to join here.

In the aftermath of Battle of Britain Day, both sides struggled to understand what had really changed in the aerial war over Britain. While the Luftwaffe leadership blamed their fighter pilots for the costly losses on September 15th, faulty intelligence drastically underestimated RAF strength at just 177 fighters when the actual number was 659âa miscalculation that would prove decisive. As the German high command faced the reality that their air campaign had failed to achieve air superiority, the logistical challenges of Operation Sea Lion became insurmountable, from RAF Bomber Command's devastating "Battle of the Barges" to the impossible timeline for moving armored divisions across the Channel. On September 17th, Hitler quietly postponed the invasionânot with fanfare, but with a bureaucratic whimper that effectively ended Germany's hopes of conquering Britain in 1940. The final daylight raids of September would see the Luftwaffe's grand campaign dissolve into desperate, costly attacks that only confirmed Fighter Command's continued strength, marking the end of one of history's most crucial air battles. Donald Trump says America owes the UK for its legacy of free speech - but why do some Republicans believe the hallmark of modern Britain is censorship? The Matts take a deep breath and work their way through a tumultuous few days ⌠starting with the visit of Donald Trump - is the UK becoming a vassal state? - through the unfolding aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and finally to reflections on the Tommy Robinson March in London. Are there Bigfoot that roam the small isles of Great Britain? If so, how can they hide? Are there wolfman type of creatures haunting the woods and fields? Are they native to the shores of the UK or have they appeared out of no where like ghosts? Maybe they are ghosts, but a different kind. Monster hunter and paranormal expert Deborah Hatswell joins Neil, Andy and Ben on the Paranormal Peep Show this month to discuss strange encounters with creatures that should not be here. Deborah investigates on her Youtube channel the Unexplained and the Unknown. Convinced this phenomenon goes back generations her research has led Deborah to her theory that some people have Paranormal Bloodlines stretching back centuries. We discuss cases of Bigfoot being sighted in Scotland, wolfman creatures jumping over fences at military bases, like RAF Alconbury. Large dog like creatures that stand up right and communicate with children. Greenman type figures that peer through bushes at humans. Landed UFOs where a big foot jumps out and attacks cars. All this and more in this edition of The Paranormal Peep Show.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/paranormal-uk-radio-network--4541473/support.
Reel Britannia - a very British podcast about very British movies...with just a hint of professionalism. Episode 179 - North Sea Hijack (1980) Forget your suave, tuxedo-clad spies. The hero of North Sea Hijack is Rufus Excalibur ffolkes, a man whose only true loves are his cats, a strong Scotch, and a perfectly executed bit of underwater sabotage. When a group of rather impolite terrorists, led by the chillingly polite Kramer, decide to hijack a massive oil rig and its supply vessel in the middle of the tempestuous North Sea, the British government is in a pickle. The villains' demand is simple: a staggering ÂŁ25 million, or they'll send the pride of Britain's oil industry to the bottom of the ocean, creating an environmental and economic catastrophe. With the clock ticking and the North Sea winds howling, the Prime Minister and her advisors are running out of options. Who can possibly handle such a delicate, high-stakes situation? Enter ffolkes. He's a freelance counter-terrorism consultant with a magnificent moustache, a deep-seated dislike for all women, and a plan so audacious and meticulously bonkers it just might work. Leading a team of tough-as-nails commandos he calls "ffolkes's fusiliers," he boards a nearby ship to mastermind a counter-strike. What follows is a delicious cat-and-mouse game between a truly eccentric genius and a band of ruthless criminals. Will ffolkes's penchant for precision (and needlepoint!) be enough to outwit the villains before they send billions of dollars' worth of hardware to a watery grave? You'll have to watch to see if this feline fanatic can pull it off. But, he says, âthere are grounds for hope' â what are they? Michael joined the podcast to discuss.   Next: why did science succumb to the âculture wars'? Biologist and peer Matt Ridley bemoans the âcultification of science', arguing that âleft-wing ideological nonsense' ended up permeating through all scientific disciplines. Thinking âneutral facts' were safe, Matt admits he â and colleagues â may have been naĂŻve as one by one different battlefields emerged. Matt joined the podcast to discuss. Has science thrown off the shackles of the âculture wars'?And finally: how many books have you read?Emily Hill delves into the world of competitive reading this week â the rise of people publicising the books they've read, particularly through social media. Emily calls this âconspicuous' and notes it appears to be a trend amongst mainly female influencers. But is this solely performative or â in a world of diminishing attention spans â could the trend be promoting the act of reading? President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a $350 billion tech investment plan dubbed the "Tech Prosperity Deal." President Trump says the tech partnership could generate $50-billion in 'economic value' and create 2,500 jobs in the U.S., and Prime Minister Starmer added it will create 15k jobs in Britain. This, a day after the Feds announced interest rate decrease, and on the same day Intel was up 25% ahead of the opening bell after Nvidia announced it will invest $5 billion in Intel. From the BBC World Service: Microsoft has announced a $30 billion investment in the U.K.'s artificial intelligence sector, its largest outside of the U.S. The announcement was timed to coincide with President Donald Trump's second state visit to Britain. Plus, Taliban officials have banned internet via cable in three Afghan provinces. And, a South Korean worker who was detained during an immigration raid at a car battery factory says the experience was traumatizing.
President Trump enjoyed a warm welcome to Britain's Windsor Castle, where his royal hosts put on a display of pageantry, pomp and military parades. It's an unprecedented second state visit for Trump, and it comes with both regal spectacle and real-world diplomacy, including a civilian nuclear power deal to power and a massive trans-Atlantic tech agreement.
