All eyes are on Florida this week as its combative governor, Ron DeSantis takes on Disney for daring to push back against his disgusting “Don't Say Gay Bill.” It's just the latest in a string of maneuvers that has made DeSantis the five star general of the culture wars and the state of Florida as a laboratory for a new kind of free market authoritarian conservatism. Michael Steele joins Mea Culpa to talk about Kevin McCarthy and what the Dems are facing in the coming midterm elections?
Today, Mike & Scott are here to start the weekend with a fun game of "Hit the Gas or Pump The Brakes?" on some current Disney topics! Should Disney go full-speed ahead on adding more capacity to 5K events moving forward, or hit those brakes? What about adding more specialty lounges to the theme parks? How about dynamic ticket pricing? Live music in the theme parks? We have lots more topics to discuss on today's show as well! Most companies don't have a marketing problem — they have a response problem. In this episode of WINNERS FIND A WAY, Trent Clark sits down with direct-response master John Dwyer to unpack why incentives, personalization, and execution still outperform brand-only marketing — and how even small businesses can scale fast without massive budgets. About the Guest John Dwyer is a world-renowned direct-response marketer and Founder of The Institute of Wow. His work spans global brands like Disney, McDonald's, Kellogg's, Hilton, and challenger brands that needed fast, measurable growth. He's also known for his legendary campaign that featured Jerry Seinfeld for an Australian financial institution — built not on branding fluff, but bold response-driven strategy. John's philosophy is simple:

We're building our ultimate Walt Disney World meal — pulling our favorite picks from all across property to create one perfect dining experience. From the location and atmosphere to the drink, appetizer, entrée, and dessert, we're drafting the best bites Disney has to offer right now.We last did this episode awhile back, and let's just say… a lot has changed. Over the years, we've tried new restaurants, revisited longtime favorites, watched menus evolve, and had some strong opinions shift along the way. With all that dining under our belts, it felt like the perfect time to update our picks and see what still holds up — and what's earned a spot on the new list.To keep things interesting, we added a few ground rules: we can't choose the same item, we can't pick more than once from the same location, and we can pull individual items from family-style meals. The result is a fun, conversational episode filled with debate, nostalgia, cravings, and plenty of “almost picked this” moments. This isn't about naming the “best” restaurant at Walt Disney World — it's about what we actually crave, what we go back to time and time again, and what makes a meal feel memorable. If you've ever thought about what your perfect Disney meal would look like, this episode is guaranteed to get you hungry and spark a few ideas of your own.

Almost all streamers offer some sort of discount via perks through Credit Cards, Cable and TV Providers, or Mobile Phone plans. On today's show we go through the top streamers and how you can get their services for free or reduced price. Neflix T-Mobile: Netflix on Us is included with many of their higher-tier unlimited plans. It provides Netflix Standard with Ads for free. Other carriers occasionally bundle it, but T-Mobile is currently the most consistent and prominent in the US. Xfinity (Comcast): Adding their "StreamSaver" bundle ($15/mo) includes Netflix Standard with Ads alongside Peacock Premium with ads and Apple TV+. Similar occasional perks appear with Spectrum, Verizon Fios, or others during promotions, but they're not guaranteed long-term. Peacock Instacart+ If you subscribe to Instacart+ about $99/year, you can get Peacock Premium included at no extra cost. Xfinity Internet customers on Gigabit or higher plans can get up to 2 years of Peacock Premium free. Xfinity NOW TV streaming service subscribers get Peacock Premium included. Xfinity Rewards members (especially higher tiers like Diamond/Platinum) can claim Peacock Premium as a perk at no extra cost. Walmart+ membership often bundles Peacock Premium for free as part of the subscription benefits. Promotional deals or bundles — These pop up from time to time, and can save money. Student/Young Adult discounts — heavily reduced about $5.99/month for students via verification or young adult offers. AppleTV+ When you buy a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV 4K, you get 3 months of Apple TV+ free. Apple One bundle trial — Plans start around $19.95/month (Individual) after the trial, making Apple TV+ effectively part of a discounted bundle compared to subscribing separately. T-Mobile (US) — With qualifying Magenta or Magenta MAX plans, you can get Apple TV+ included at no extra cost. Some carriers (like Verizon or others in the past) have occasionally bundled Apple TV+ free or discounted with phone plans, but T-Mobile is the most consistent. Peacock + Apple TV+ bundle — In some regions, you can bundle Apple TV+ with Peacock for around $14.99/month (saving over 30% compared to separate subscriptions). Paramount+ Walmart+ subscribers ($12.95/month or $98/year) get Paramount+ Essential (the ad-supported plan) included at no extra cost. You can choose between Paramount+ Essential or Peacock Premium (with ads) as a streaming benefit. DirecTV (top-tier/Ultimate packages) may offer complimentary Paramount+. Other providers like Hulu (as a Paramount+ with SHOWTIME add-on) sometimes have free trials or bundled access for eligible subscribers. Verified U.S. military members get 50% off any plan for life (via SheerID verification). This is a permanent discount. Teachers Discount — Teachers may get 50% off any plan. Hulu Eligible U.S. service members, veterans, and families can get 25% off Hulu (With Ads) through The Exchange (shopmyexchange.com). Select T-Mobile plans include ad-supported Hulu for free. Some plans also bundle Netflix or other services. This can make Hulu effectively $0 if you already have or switch to a qualifying plan. Occasional promotions from American Express Platinum and some other credit cards may offer free access to Hulu, Disney+, or HBO/Max bundles, but these are niche and time-limited. Bundles for Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu start around $9.99–$12.99/mo can save from $5 to $15 when compared to separate subscriptions. ESPN+ Verizon: Select Unlimited 5G plans include the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Bundle (often Disney+ Premium, Hulu with ads, and ESPN Select with ads) at no extra charge. T-Mobile: Offers Hulu "ON US" with select plans, but ESPN+ inclusion is less direct—some bundles or promotions tie in Disney/Hulu/ESPN elements. It's more Hulu-focused, but check T-Mobile's streaming perks for any ESPN-related deals. Other carriers like AT&T may have occasional streaming bundles—verify your plan. Provider-included access: If you have cable/satellite/streaming TV services like DIRECTV, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, Spectrum, Verizon FiOS, Cox, etc., you may get ESPN Unlimited or Select access included. Disney+ | Hulu Bundle - see above Disney+ Verizon: Several eligible Unlimited mobile plans (or certain home internet plans) include the Disney Bundle for free or at no extra cost. Disney+ | Hulu Bundle - see above Some cards (e.g., American Express Blue Cash Everyday) offer statement credits toward Disney+/Hulu (up to $7/month or similar). HBO Max If you have HBO through a cable/satellite package like DirecTV, or select plans from providers like Spectrum, internet service, or a wireless plan, you may get Max access at no extra cost. Sign in via the Max app with your provider credentials. Some older AT&T Unlimited plans or specific bundles still include it. Certain mobile carriers or services bundle Max for free or as part of a higher-tier plan. Examples include occasional Verizon or AT&T promotions (though many shifted to Disney bundles). Check your carrier's perks section—some offer limited-time free months.

Sarah is all hot and bothered for the "gay hockey show," Heated Rivalry, and she explains why lesbians would enjoy male on male heat. Susie is all wound up about something totally different: umbrellas. To each their own. We learn about a practice that was created in the 1980s where people dying of AIDS would sell their life insurance policies to investors, and we debate the ethics of betting on someone's death. We discuss the difference in written communication between women and men, and the reason women have to track their punctuation and balance perceived warmth and competence. We find out which celebrities are mentioned the most in pop songs, and the three factors that can increase your chances of being name dropped. Just Shoot It: A Podcast about Filmmaking, Screenwriting and Directing
How important is Sundance to your career as a commercial director? Matt and Oren talk about their experiences in Park City before the festival wraps up its last year in Utah. With Matt working to raise money for his latest film, “Bad Feeling”, there's a lively discussion about whether making narrative films can advance your career as a commercial director. And the answer is, for some directors, it can make you stand out. But for others, there's a better way. Then Oren talks about his latest experience shooting outside Los Angeles. And Matt and Oren talk about how to handle the shoot schedule your AD creates. And they raise some good points about what to watch for when shooting out of order. Especially when working with athletes. For example, in LA, actors and crews will help you manage issues related to continuity that have more to do with than just “was this there in the last scene”. It's Oscar time, Sundance season, and the festival circuit is just kicking off! And if you're looking to stay present in your work and while forging your career path forward, this is a great episode to help keep you grounded as the year gets rolling!Help Matts' film: wefunder.com/badfeeling---Help our Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/JustShootItPodMatt's Endorsement: The films "Marty Supreme" and "Hamnet". Marvel's latest Disney+ series Wonder Man features one of their most obscure characters—a struggling actor named Simon Williams who becomes Wonder Man. Matthew hosts Will and Steve from the Hype Is My Superpower podcast to explore episode one and dive into the comic book history of this B-list Avenger who's spent more time on movie sets than saving the world. The conversation examines why the MCU chose this particular character for a show that's more about Hollywood and acting than superheroism. From Wonder Man's 1960s origins with Baron Zemo and ionic rays to his modern role as an Avenger who'd rather be anywhere else, the discussion reveals how this character's comic book history makes him surprisingly perfect for a meta-commentary on genre entertainment.Questions We DiscussedHas the MCU reached a point where it's making satires about making MCU shows? How does Wonder Man compare to other Marvel characters who maintain civilian careers like She-Hulk's legal work? Why did Simon Williams leave the superhero world to pursue acting full-time in the comics?Does having an obscure character give Marvel more creative freedom without fan backlash?**************************************************************************This episode is a production of Superhero Ethics, a The Ethical Panda Podcast and part of the TruStory FM Entertainment Podcast Network. Confetti at the finish is only part of the story. We sit down with Walt Disney World Marathon champion Matt Hensley to trace the path from family running roots and college grind to a smart, tactical win built on adaptation, fueling, and a decisive late-race move. Matt walks us through race-week realities—working the expo, long park days, heavy legs—and explains how dew point data and small early adjustments can save a marathon when heat sneaks in. He opens his playbook on fueling (60–90g carbs per hour), mid-race decision-making, and the difference between racing for time and racing for place, including the surge that sealed the pass near mile 20.The conversation widens to purpose, mindset, and coaching. As the founder of Boulder Underground, Matt shares how he coaches beginners to elites by aligning big goals with daily habits, calling on a trusted network of PTs, dietitians, and mental performance experts. We dig into his three-part framework for 26.2—body, mind, and spirit—so listeners leave with practical steps: test nutrition in training, find early flow instead of forcing splits, and anchor to a meaningful why when the tough miles arrive. Along the way, you'll hear a hilarious nearly-Guinness-record family saga, Disney course highlights, and the energizing role of characters, music, and community on race day.We also spotlight our Disneyland meetup details, roll call an enormous list of racers, and celebrate listener PRs from 5K to marathon. Whether you're chasing a Boston qualifier, your first half, or a steadier long run, you'll find tools and motivation to sharpen your next start line. If this conversation helps your training, share it with a friend, follow our show, and leave a quick review—what's the one strategy you'll try on your next long run?Matt's LinkBoulder Underground Running Rise and Run LinksRise and Run Podcast Facebook PageRise and Run Podcast InstagramRise and Run Podcast Website and ShopRise and Run PatreonRunningwithalysha Alysha's Run Coaching (Mention Rise And Run and get $10 off) Send us a textSupport the showRise and Run Podcast is supported by our audience. Sometimes the quickest way to drain the joy out of marriage is turning your relationship into a strict routine, a running scoreboard, or a daily critique session. In this episode, Adam and Ashlee talk about keeping marriage fun—not by ignoring real issues, but by refusing to nitpick each other to death. They react to a viral “just let them be” video and unpack what it looks like to have a relationship where you support each other's hobbies, rhythms, naps, and personality quirks… without making everything a fight. Because not every annoyance deserves a confrontation—and not every preference deserves a rule. They also get real about what does need a conversation: when stress, exhaustion, or overwork starts changing who you are. From folded laundry sitting on the table to Disney passes, date nights, and learning to enjoy what your spouse enjoys, this episode is all about grace, teamwork, and healthy communication. Adam and Ashlee also share a serious warning about how “punishment patterns” (like withholding affection or constantly creating tension) can quickly spiral into bigger damage. The goal isn't perfection—it's building a marriage that feels safe, light, and full of joy again.--Join our AFTER I DO community for Exclusive Content & community!www.afterido.app--Have a question about relationships? I worked at Disney at one of my first side hustles when I was a teacher. All over the Disney properties, there are hidden doors, secret hallways, and restricted areas —places only cast members could access. And did you know that The Magic Kingdom has an entire underground world—for real--complete with a bank, post office, restaurants, and shops—all available exclusively to cast members. And recently, it clicked. Kingdom Revelation! When I relaunched my business in the fall, I shared that I help Christians “build a business and the Kingdom.” But God gently corrected me and led me to deeper study of The Kingdom.Girl, The Kingdom is already built. It's not something we construct—it's something we discover. As a beloved daughter, YOU have access to the special hidden places of God's Kingdom. It's in you and among you! Jesus said in Luke 17:21 "They can't say, ‘Here it is!' or ‘There it is!' You see, the kingdom of God is within you.”The Kingdom is here. The Kingdom is now.The Kingdom is YOU!It is up to us to discover it. We're back for more stories about the impact the David Eccles School of Business has on the lives and careers of our alumni, and today we are sharing another success story of connections made through the David Eccles Alumni Network with Ben Holley.Frances talks to Ben about how he went from earning a music degree at the University of Utah and an MBA from Harvard Business School to now the VP of Finance for Disney Entertainment Television. Ben discusses his career journey, the importance of curiosity, and how it has consistently opened unexpected opportunities along the way. Ben shares insights from his varied roles throughout his tenure with Disney and emphasizes the value of building relationships and connections along the way. He also touches on his philanthropic efforts supporting Ukrainian families affected by war through the efforts of To Ukraine with Love. This episode offers valuable advice for anyone navigating career changes, fostering curiosity, and maintaining optimism.Eccles Business Buzz is a production of the David Eccles School of Business and is produced by University.fm.Eccles Business Buzz is proud to be selected by FeedSpot as one of the Top 70 Business School podcasts on the web. Learn more at https://podcast.feedspot.com/us_business_school_podcasts. Episode Quotes:Ben reveals how building relationships and connections shaped his career path[12:41] The other theme besides curiosity that might emerge in this conversation you'll hear me say again and again is the importance of building relationships and building connections. Whether that be, as we've been discussing, to help manage a business that you're part of, or whether it's building your career, connecting to those that are further on in their careers that may be able to provide advice or guidance. I remember an experience as a student when I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I didn't really know what I wanted to do, and so I sat down and interviewed, in effect, 10 or 12 local businesspeople and asked them all about their jobs. I'd say, What do you like about your job? What do you hate about your job? What does your family think of your job? Do you make a lot of money? Do you not make a lot of money? What education did you have? Should I be thinking about an MBA? All of those questions. And the lesson I learned from that, walking away from all those interactions, there's not one that stands out to me as, Oh, that was the one; that was the silver bullet; that person knew everything that needed to be known. In reality, what happened was it was me talking about my interests and hearing other people react to those interests, and hearing a little bit about that helped me in my own mind to crystallize what I thought was sort of the right path for me, and that process of discussing and exploring different opportunities in different fields was really what helped me shape my own direction. On why students shouldn't be afraid to approach mentors and industry leaders[15:43] At the outset you do have to have a little bit of self-confidence to pick up the phone or send an email or a text or whatever to reach out and make that connection. But what I found, and I think what most people will find, is that people are eager to share their own experience and eager to give advice. They feel flattered, right? When you reach out to them and say, “Hey, you're smarter than me; tell me what I should do.” And so, if I could dispel the fear that some people feel about reaching out, know that most people are eager to share their experience and talk to especially students. How being curious and making bold moves helped Ben get to where he is today[17:18] I thought to myself, I'm capable. I can certainly explore it, right? Figure it out and try and make that move, and through a series of interactions and connections and opportunities that I was able to find myself in the role I'm in now supporting the television side of the business, which is so funny. I came into this a little bit naive, right? Thinking, oh, finance is finance and Disney is Disney. But in reality, the television business is very different than the parks and resorts business, and it took a long time for me to learn the business, to get to know the people, but it's the same thing. It's the same thing I was doing at the call center, right? It's, you know, find the guy who's running the tech, who's asking you questions, figure out how the business works, how the business runs. Connect with the people, understand who's making decisions and guiding the business, and get to know them and let them get to know you, and that'll serve you well. It served me well, certainly.Show Links:Ben Holley | LinkedInTo Ukraine with LoveUtah Entrepreneur ChallengeDavid Eccles School of Business (@ubusiness) | InstagramUndergraduate Scholars ProgramsRising Business LeadersEccles Alumni Network (@ecclesalumni) | Instagram Eccles Experience Magazine
“THIS IS YOUR TIME.“Hello everyone, we hope 2026 has been treating you well. We apologize for the lack of updates, its difficult to schedule time and be in the right mental space for regularly releasing episodes. We hope to keep doing them, as watching and talking about movies helps keep us sane and grounded against the insanity of the world. Movies might be make believe, but the stories they tell come from real people. Through the language of cinema we are made to feel real emotions. By sharing our favorite movies with one another we are sharing perspectives, values and interests. We are building community, which is vital for the times we live in and the times ahead. This podcast started because two guys shared interest in a movie after all, and through recording and releasing episodes we have gotten incredible movie suggestions from listeners. Movies that we have never heard of or have just never given a second thought. The podcast has expanded our palette, introduced us to different cultures, history and appreciation for the art of movies and those that make them. We can't stop yet. For this episode, we took a suggestion from fighting game prodigy BobaTeamo, and talk about 2004's Miracle, directed by Gavin O'Conner and starring Kurt Russel. This Disney film is based on the true story of the 1980 US Olympic Hockey team, and their David and Goliath-type game against the dominant Soviet Olympic team. Coincidentally, also takes place during a period when it just feels bad being an American. Miracle is a period piece set during the Cold War and Oil Crisis of 1979. The rising tensions with the Soviets, dire financial situation for the working class, and general L's America is taking are only relieved when on the ice. And even on the ice, our characters are put to the test with Kurt Russel's Herb Brooks's extreme coaching style, that gives the US Olympic council, his own staff, and family pause. We talk about how the political backdrop and post 9/11 nationalism of the early 2000's play a role in our reaction to the film today, and also how the message of comradery and reliance of teammates who care about you seemingly undermine the rugged individualistic messages of typical American propaganda. When it comes to sports movies, we often think of them as formulaic and readily accept the two different endings. They lose, but spiritually win, or they win and all the hard work and sacrifice is rewarded. However, some movies are more than just cliches and predictable endings. These reductive analysis do not take into consideration the craft of film making, and the acute attention to detail of capturing what it feels like to play a certain sport. Not all movies are terribly concerned about accuracy and making you feel like you are in the game, but that's what makes Miracle special. On this episode, we get into the lengths Gavin O'Conner and his crew went to to capture the essence of hockey. Heated Rivalry might have our hearts now, but Miracle was regarded as the greatest hockey movie ever made. After watching it for the episode and doing a bit of reading on how it was made, it's no surprise why.You can listen to this episode ANYWHERE you get your podcasts! You don't have to go to Spotify or Apple! If you don't see our show on your podcast preference of choice, just DM us on our socials and we will get right on it!
