On Monday's Mark Levin Show, the American Marxism movement hates American institutions and is out to destroy America. And they have an ally: Islamism. Both ideas have been forced upon us by the Democratic Party. They seek to undermine our Constitution, our Judeo-Christian belief system, the nuclear family, our schools and universities. Despite their outward ideological differences, they share one goal: destroy the West. How? With immigration and open borders and using our constitutional protections against us. And there's a third problem: the Woke Reich neo-fascists, who are antisemitic and anti-Christian. The result is more young people who have been brainwashed to hate this country. We need to realize that we are under attack. Later, a recent 5-4 Supreme Court ruling that upheld states' post-election day ballot counting for federal offices undermines the Constitution. This weakens fraud detection, as the president is right that mail-in voting should be limited to those who are disabled, sick, or out of town—not universal. In states like California, ballots are sent to outdated addresses, and since such states are Democratic strongholds, pressure is ineffective, yet these practices improperly affect federal elections. Also, experience shows the Iranian regime lies, cheats, adheres to no agreements, and seeks to destroy all individuals, groups, or nations not complying with its 7th-century political-religious ideology through catastrophic worldwide war involving slaughter, torture, and rape until total submission. Unlike faiths that reformed, Islamists have not. Meanwhile, Zohran Mamdani is focused on de-populating NYC of as many Jews as possible and turning into a Dearborn, Michigan or Paterson, NJ. He's making it unsafe and unlivable for Jews in the City. Finally, Director of the Ronald Reagan Institute Roger Zakheim calls in to discuss an Axios article that misleadingly headlined Republicans souring on Israel based on the Institute's survey. Zakheim clarified that Axios engaged in clickbait, as the survey and its own report actually showed the opposite: 75% of Republicans overall, and 80% of MAGA Republicans, believe U.S. security and prosperity are tied to Israel's security. For the ad-free version of this episode, subscribe to Politicology+ at https://politicology.com/plus In this episode, Ron talks to Jay Solomon (executive director of investigations at the Program on Extremism at George Washington University and cohost of The Threat podcast) and Hagar Chemali (former spokesperson for the U.S. Mission to the UN and cohost of The Threat podcast) about what the latest war with Iran reveals about the limits of American power. They explore why allies failed to rally around the United States, how the Strait of Hormuz became a political weapon, and why both ends of the political spectrum increasingly argue that America itself is the problem. Then they trace the radicalization of one young American activist as a window into the forces pulling at the country from the outside. Later, Ron, Jay, and Hagar turn to corruption, transactional foreign policy, and where American leadership goes once the old institutions can no longer be rebuilt. They discuss: (5:01) What this war revealed about the limits of American power (6:41) Why allies didn't rally, and the Strait of Hormuz as a toll booth (8:34) The case that confrontation with Iran was inevitable (15:21) The left's turn: DSA, the Mamdani primaries, and a hollowing party (20:26) Populism meets foreign policy (25:52) The radicalization of Calla Walsh (35:02) Utopian movements and the dream of a perfectible world (39:09) The anti-war tradition versus foreign influence (46:30) The right's turn: JD Vance, Qatar, Pakistan, and the Quincy Institute (54:40) Transactionalism, corruption, and values that left the room (1:02:41) Anti-Semitism, legitimate debate, and the new litmus tests (1:09:47) What Israel does if American support collapses (1:13:12) The industrial complexes and their competing incentives (1:21:47) Iran's real motives and the lessons of the pallets of cash (1:33:49) Is this our Suez Canal moment? For decades, the Mafia was the face of organized crime in America. But while the mob's power has faded, organized crime itself has become more global, more sophisticated, and harder to track. Virginia Commonwealth University criminologist Jay Albanese has spent decades studying how criminal organizations adapt and survive. In this conversation, he explains how law enforcement weakened the traditional Mafia, how criminal enterprises shifted from controlling neighborhoods to trafficking across borders, and why he believes corruption remains one of the most important challenges facing modern societies.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
George Washington is perhaps the most familiar figure in American history. But most people really only know the image of him they see in marble statues and patriotic paintings. Behind those symbols was a real man: ambitious, self-taught, intensely concerned with honor, and constantly wrestling with the immense responsibilities history placed on his shoulders. In celebration of America's 250th birthday, we're taking an extended look at the life of the man more responsible than anyone else for the nation's founding. Here to unpack that life for us is H.W. Brands, a historian and the author of a new biography of Washington, American Patriarch. Brands traces Washington's journey from a young Virginia surveyor to military commander, founding father, and first president. Along the way, we discuss how Washington's upbringing shaped his character, why he became a surprisingly effective military leader despite losing more battles than he won, how he held together a fragile revolutionary army, how he shaped the presidency through the precedents he set, and whether a leader like Washington could still succeed today.Resources Related to the PodcastH.W.'s previous appearances on the AoM podcast:Episode #696: Theodore Roosevelt, The Last RomanticEpisode #908: Would You Have Been a Patriot or a Loyalist?AoM Podcast #223: George Washington, Benedict Arnold, and Valiant AmbitionAoM Podcast #366: Teach Yourself Like George WashingtonAoM Podcast #719: The Surprising Pessimism of America's Founding FathersAoM Article: George Washington's Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior in Company and ConversationConnect With H.W. Mea Culpa welcomes back to the show, legendary newsman David Corn, the Washington DC Bureau Chief of Mother Jones, and an on-air analyst for MSMBC. Corn and Michael Isikoff “co-authored, “Russian Roulette, The Inside Story of Putin's War on America and the Election of Donald Trump”. He's also the author of four New York Times best-selling books and was the long-time Washington editor for “The Nation”. For a good read, check out “Our Land” — his twice-weekly newsletter that covers everything from news of the day to entertainment, but all told in Corn's no bullshit style. Corn has been published multiple times, but his latest bestseller,” American Psychosis: A Historical Investigation of How the Republican Party Went Crazy” is a must-read for anyone interested in understanding our unprecedented times. He joins us today amidst unprecedented dysfunction in American government as the GOP continues for a third week without a House speaker, paralyzed by infighting between moderate and extremist factions of the GOP. On top of this, former President Trump awaits four separate criminal trials and has all but dared Judge Chuktan to jail him for violating his gag order. All the while war rages in Israel and Ukraine. It seems we are drifting without a rudder and American credibility is suffering.

Christopher Rufo is arguably the most successful activist of the MAGA era. He rose to prominence fighting D.E.I. initiatives and critical race theory. In President Trump's second term, he's had a huge influence on policy, from Trump's executive orders against D.E.I. and the attacks on the Department of Education to the ICE and C.B.P. deployments to Minneapolis. Rufo, helpfully, calls his shots. He has published a guide, “The New Right Activism: A Manifesto for the Counterrevolution,” in which he argued for the value of “agitprop” and counseled that “political life moves on narrative, emotion, scandal, anger, hope, and faith — on irrational, or at least subrational, feelings.” But more recently, in his writing and on the podcast he co-hosts, “Rufo & Lomez,” he seems worried about the new right he has helped build: its attraction to conspiracy theories, its racialist thinking, its internal fissures. So I wanted to have him on the show to talk about the problems he sees on his side, but also to interrogate whether he may have scored short-term victories while seeding profound long-term problems. Rufo is a senior fellow and director of the initiative on critical race theory at the Manhattan Institute. He's a contributing editor of City Journal and the author of “America's Cultural Revolution: How the Radical Left Conquered Everything.” This episode contains strong language. David Rothkopf joins Joanna Coles as the Supreme Court delivers a series of stunning rulings that pierce Donald Trump's carefully constructed “Golden Dome,” leaving him facing fresh legal humiliation in the E. Jean Carroll case while battles over presidential power, voting rights, and the future of the Federal Reserve intensify. From Natalie Harp's role as Trump's “human printer” to empty crowds at Trump's much-hyped National Mall state fair, David and Joanna unpack a presidency increasingly insulated from reality as new reporting exposes White House rivalries, family business dealings, and growing fears of political accountability. They dive into the political fallout of mass deportations, the corruption questions surrounding Kazakhstan mining deals, and the Democratic Party's fight over whether to prioritize affordability or accountability, all while asking what America's founding ideals mean on the eve of the nation's 250th birthday. Newt talks with former Senator Tim Hutchinson about his new memoir, From Spavinaw to D.C.: A Conservative's Journey Through Faith, Farm Life, and the Fight for America. Hutchinson reflects on his upbringing on an Arkansas farm, the faith mentors who shaped him, and how Ronald Reagan's 1964 "A Time for Choosing" speech sparked his political awakening as a teenager. He recounts becoming the first Republican popularly elected to the Senate from Arkansas in 1996, his role in the "Gingrich Revolution" and the Cracker Jacks freshman caucus, and the dramatic phone call that pushed him from a safe House seat into a Senate run. Their conversation covers the cultural differences between the House and Senate, formative trips to Israel and China, and his enduring friendships across the aisle, including with Senator Russ Feingold over golf. Hutchinson closes by sharing his Fourth of July plans with family.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Washington Roundtable is joined by Jeff Stein, the veteran political reporter and founding editor of the newsletter “Spytalk,” to examine Donald Trump's appointment of Bill Pulte as the new acting Director of National Intelligence, a position that, in theory, oversees the C.I.A., N.S.A., F.B.I., and fifteen other agencies. Pulte has no intelligence background and no national-security experience, but does have a track record of going after the President's perceived enemies. Plus, the panel discusses a recent Washington Post investigation that raised new questions about the outgoing director, Tulsi Gabbard, and her alleged ties to a religious cult. Murphy's new book “Crisis of the Common Good” argues that the country is suffering from a collapse of connection, belonging, and purpose. They discuss loneliness, powerlessness, liberalism, democracy, Trumpism, corporate power, social media, and why so many Americans feel disconnected from their communities, their institutions, and each other. Jon Lovett joins Joanna Coles for a blistering conversation on Donald Trump's political standing, his increasingly erratic public persona, and why Lovett believes the president is doing more to damage Republicans than Democrats ahead of the midterms. Drawing on his experience as an Obama White House speechwriter, Lovett reflects on the opening of the Obama Library, the future of the Democratic Party, the rise of its progressive wing, and the search for the next generation of leadership. He also delivers a blistering critique of Trump's handling of America's 250th anniversary, arguing the country has squandered what should have been a rare moment of national unity. You need to see this before the mainstream media buries it — the Supreme Court just ruled Trump can strip deportation protections from hundreds of thousands of Haitians and Syrians. Finally, some common sense on immigration. Pat breaks down the explosive 6-3 SCOTUS decision that lets the Trump administration end Temporary Protected Status for over 350,000 Haitians and 6,000 Syrians. These so-called “temporary” programs from years ago became permanent loopholes, and the court just said enough is enough — no more activist judges blocking the law. We also cover: Joe Biden is BACK … and he's still embarrassing himself on the world stage. Gracie the Texas giraffe is found alive. Sergei Ivanov, another top Russian general, “falls to his death” — suspicious much? Thirteen Democrats just rejected socialism in a bold new pledge. Are Democrats about to lose Bill Maher's vote? Do you think ending these endless TPS protections is long overdue, or is the media right that this is cruel? And what's your biggest frustration with our broken immigration system right now? - The episode opens with outrage over blue-state leaders refusing to fully join the America 250 celebration, framing it as another sign that parts of the Democratic leadership no longer want to celebrate the country at all. - A major focus is the Democratic Party's new anti-Israel litmus test, with Dan Goldman, Scott Wiener, Chuck Schumer, and Joe Biden all used as examples of figures now getting booed, heckled, or purged for not going far enough against Israel. - The show argues that Zohran Mamdani's New York victory is not an isolated upset but proof that socialists, Islamists, and anti-Israel activists now drive Democratic energy in major cities and primaries. - Phil Mickelson becomes a late-show target after a bombshell report paints him as a reckless, predatory fraud, blowing up the longtime public image of a loyal family man and threatening to permanently stain his golf legacy. - The episode spotlights the World Cup as another cultural fault line, mocking ESPN for calling Iran's scoreless exit a “remarkable” run while arguing that global fans are embracing America far more enthusiastically than the U.S. left is. Summer is here, and for years, Dan has spent part of his summer in New England visiting family and friends. This week he's visiting two New England summer institutions. First is Woodman's—known as the place where fried clams were invented—in Essex, Massachusetts, the clam capital of America. Dan chats with the owner, Steve Woodman, about the origin of their fried clams, and sits down for a meal with someone who's been coming to Woodman's for decades: his mom. Then, Dan heads to Grace Church on Martha's Vineyard, which has some of his favorite lobster rolls of all time. While there, Dan finds out a shocking secret about these very special lobster rolls. This episode was produced by Dan Pashman, Anne Saini, Ngofeen Mputubwele, Emma Morgenstern, and Andres O'Hara. It was engineered by Jared O'Connell and edited by Peter Clowney and Kameel Stanley. It's Fun Day Monday on The Majority Report On today's program: ABC's Jonathan Karl tells Mayor Zohran Mamdani that the Republicans will make him the face of the Democratic party to which Mamdani responds with, "let them". The mayor then lists all of the accomplishments of his administration - a list that would be impressive for an entire term, let alone in just under 7 months in office. Jen Psaki asks Rep. AOC to respond to Sen. Elissa Slotkin's call for the need for change in Democratic leadership. Cortez says that if elected officials are going to call for change, then they need to elaborate on what kind of change they're talking about. Do you want the party to be abashedly working class or do you want to deepen the ties between he parties and its corporate donors. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson holds a press conference where he reads the platform of the Democratic Socialists of America. Speaker Johnson fails at fear mongering as the platform sounds reasonable and includes some ideas that even conservatives would agree with. We are joined by Sufia Khalid, deputy director of the National Security Criminal Defense Center at the Muslim Legal Fund of America and an attorney for one of the Prairieland Nine—a group of anti-ICE protesters in Texas who were sentenced to 30 to 100 years in prison after federal prosecutors accused them of being an "antifa terror cell." Chris Geidner, journalist and publisher of the Law Dork newsletter, joins the program to discuss the past week's Supreme Court rulings. In the Fun Half: If one throws a Great American 250 State Fair in the Mall of DC but no one is around to see it, did it really happen? Fox News says that thousands of people are participating but unfortunately the camera shows that there aren't even hundreds of people at the fair. Meanwhile down the street from the fair at the reflecting pool the National Guard is patrolling for loiters as a recorded announcement warns people to keep it moving. Rep. Thomas Massie is stopped on the street by a Fox digital reporter and asked about some of his scandals to which Massie responds by calling the reporter gay. Senator Ted Cruz says that antisemitism is a gateway drug to anticapitalism. Renowned idiot Dave Smith blames the Iran war's historic unpopularity for the rise in socialism. All that and more. There was a time in America when shipping a dead body by railroad was as routine as sending a trunk of luggage... until somebody misplaced the coffin. In this episode of The Box of Oddities, Kat and Jethro uncover the strange and surprisingly common history of America's "silent passengers"—human remains transported across the country by rail. Discover the newspaper stories of lost coffins, bodies sent to the wrong families, funeral trains delayed by storms, and the unsettling realities of moving the dead before modern embalming. It's a forgotten chapter of railroad history that's equal parts fascinating, unsettling, and absurd. Then Kat takes a detour into one of history's lighter mysteries: Why is Connecticut called the Nutmeg State? Did crafty merchants really sell fake wooden nutmegs? Along the way, you'll discover the surprising origins of state nicknames like the Tar Heel State, the Sooner State, the Badger State, and more—revealing how folklore, history, commerce, and a little creative marketing shaped the identities of the United States. If you love forgotten history, strange true stories, bizarre Americana, railroad oddities, unusual facts, and conversations that wander gloriously off the rails, you've found your people. Because sometimes the weirdest journey... begins after the passengers stop breathing. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We're talking about the Earth, Wind, & Fire documentary, and the wild story of this funky 70s band. We discuss the insane hypocrisy of Tyra Banks suing Netflix over the America's Next Top Model documentary in which she participated. Turns out, it's not fun to be at the mercy of editors trying to tell a particular story. A woman got a tattoo of her child's name, but there was a typo, and her solution is WILD. We celebrate the pianist who got the chance of a lifetime to perform when the pro keyboardist fell ill at a concert. We debate the question of custody of an embryo in the event of a divorce. Susie talks about a mummy whose gut was growing yeast, and we are not happy with what the scientists decided to do with it. We'll give you one dumb guess.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Download HILY Dating App from the App Store or Google Play, or visit https://hily.comGo to https://thrivecausemetics.com/BRAINCANDY for an exclusive offer of 20% off your first order.Visit https://www.carawayhome.com/braincandypod to take an additional 10% off using code BRAINCANDYPOD on your next purchase.TDM-RESERVATION: 1.
