In the late 18th century, the newly independent United States of America faced its first major domestic crisis. Settlers in its westernmost regions rose up in open armed rebellion against the government. The cause of the rebellion had to do with taxes, which was the very thing that the American Revolution was about in the first place. The rebellion was seen by some as a threat to the very existence of the new country. We have a new Brain Candy seal of approval, inspired by Sarah, created by Adam, and loved by all. Pay attention to our approvals with our new device. We learn the origin of Pac-Man, why the game was revolutionary, and what makes us love it still. We talk about the strange success of the sporting goods story, Dicks, and how Sarah thought Dick divorced someone and she had a spinoff store called Chicks. We debate AI for therapy, wellness, and friendship, and share what we think people should do instead (and it involves, you know, talking to actual people). Horse racing was the most popular sport in early America, drawing massive crowds and fueling a cultural obsession with horses’ speed and pedigree. In the early 1800s, every town in America with a few thousand people had a horse racing track, with major cities drawing crowds of up to 50,000. In the midst of this was Alexander Keene Richards (1827–1881), one of the nineteenth century’s most significant Thoroughbred importers and breeders. Richards was like automotive designer Carroll Shelby, Matt Damon’s character in Ford v. Ferrari, who revolutionized the sport by blending innovation with a relentless drive to perfect the breeding and training of Thoroughbreds. Today’s guest is Gary Odell, author of Reinventing the American Thoroughbred: The Arabian Adventures of Alexander Keene Richards. We explore how Richards traveled thousands of miles on expeditions into the heart of the Syrian desert to obtain Arabian stock of the purest blood. He became the first American to venture into the desert to bargain directly with nomadic tribesmen for their horses. The Civil War interrupted Richards’s equine breeding experiment. After the war, he was bankrupt and spent the rest of his life attempting to rebuild his Thoroughbred facility. But Richards’ willingness to look globally for solutions—traveling to the Middle East for superior bloodlines—parallels today’s international talent scouting and cross-cultural exchanges in sports, fostering a legacy of globalized athletic improvement that shapes how American sports, from horse racing to other disciplines, prioritize scientific innovation and cultural adaptability.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Trump strikes a deal with Nvidia and AMD to send 15% of their China chip sales to the US government in exchange for export approval. The crew debates if it is smart business or a dangerous precedent, tying it to tariffs, national projects, AI dominance, and fears of opening the door for abuse.
Episode 435 is the eighth episode in the Hundred Year Pivot podcast series. In it, Demetri Kofinas and Grant Williams speak with leading realist scholar Jonathan Kirshner about how eroding cultural norms, weakened political guardrails, deepening polarization, and the collapse of shared narratives and belief structures are leading to a break-down in the American-led order, paving the way for a new moneyed elite to seize power in Washington. Their discussion begins with a deep dive into the realist tradition: its origins, how it differs from other ideological schools, its various interpretations, and why classical realists grant primacy to uncertainty and the inherently unpredictable nature of world events. They explore what it means for states to define and pursue their national interests at a time when the American-led world order is fragmenting and deep domestic polarization is weakening the institutional checks and balances that once constrained presidential power. Jonathan also educates the audience on the parallels between the United States today and France in the 1930s—politically fractured, inwardly focused, and increasingly unable to act with purpose on the world stage—and why Kirshner believes the situation may now be closer to France in the 1940s, marked by a willingness to collaborate with the occupying forces of a new plutocracy. Grant, Demetri, and Jonathan also grapple with how the politics of scapegoating, the collapse of shared narratives, and the deliberate erosion of truth claims are undermining the foundations of participatory democracy. Jonathan explains how this epistemic breakdown accelerates America's imperial collapse, undermining its political influence abroad, weakening its alliances, and threatening the long-term stability of the dollar-based global financial system. Donate (no account necessary) | Subscribe (account required) Join Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Operations Officer, as he dives into today's top stories shaping America and the world. In this episode of The Wright Report, we cover explosive new evidence of an Obama-era conspiracy against Donald Trump, major shifts in U.S. manufacturing and agriculture, high-stakes diplomacy before the Trump–Putin meeting, the collapse of Ukraine's front lines, and a mysterious American drone mission deep into Mexico. Newly Declassified Email Exposes Obama-Era Conspiracy: A Top Secret 2016 email from NSA Director Mike Rogers to James Clapper, John Brennan, and James Comey reveals deep concerns over Obama's rushed Intelligence Community Assessment on alleged Trump–Russia collusion. The correspondence confirms intelligence officials were pressured to rubber-stamp a politically driven report that included the discredited Steele Dossier. Bryan details why this is foundational evidence of a seditious conspiracy. GE Appliances Moves Production Back to the U.S.: Trump's tariff strategy prompts GE Appliances, formerly owned by a Chinese company, to relocate manufacturing of ranges and refrigerators from Mexico and China to plants in Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, and South Carolina, creating 1,000 new jobs. U.S. Farm and Ranch Report: Bred heifer prices hit record highs as cattle herd sizes remain at 1950s lows, keeping beef prices elevated. Favorable rains and cheaper feed are encouraging herd rebuilding, while the dangerous New World screwworm threatens to cross the border from Mexico. Crop conditions are generally good, but trade restrictions tied to tariffs are shifting agricultural export strategies. Mexico Sends 26 Cartel Members to U.S. Custody: President Claudia Sheinbaum transfers dangerous cartel figures to the United States, defying Mexico's constitution under technical loopholes. The move follows White House pressure to prevent cartel leaders from escaping Mexican prisons and resuming drug and human trafficking operations. Trump and European Allies Set Ukraine Negotiation Red Lines: Ahead of tomorrow's Alaska meeting with Vladimir Putin, Trump and European leaders agree on five conditions for peace talks, including a cease-fire, starting territorial discussions from current front lines, and securing binding Western security guarantees. European leaders will not attend the Alaska talks, leaving the White House to own the negotiations and their outcome. Ukraine's Front Lines Near Collapse: Russian forces, bolstered by North Korean mercenaries, gain six miles in the Donetsk region through relentless “meat wave” assaults. Ukrainian soldiers are frustrated with leadership, and public support for the war has collapsed, with 69 percent now favoring a negotiated settlement. Bryan warns that without fresh troops or a change in strategy, Ukraine risks losing the entire country. U.S. Drone Conducts Deep Strike Recon in Mexico: An American MQ-9 Reaper drone flew 600 miles into cartel-controlled territory in Michoacán before shutting off its transponders. The mission likely signals upcoming U.S. military action against cartels, with or without Mexican government cooperation, as Trump accelerates his campaign against foreign and domestic enemies. "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32 Keywords: Obama-era Trump-Russia conspiracy, declassified Mike Rogers email, GE Appliances reshoring, U.S. cattle herd prices, New World screwworm threat, Mexico extradites cartel members, Trump Putin Alaska meeting, Ukraine front lines collapse, Donetsk Russian advance, U.S. drone Mexico cartel mission

We're diving into a major development at the intersection of tech, trade, and national security: the U.S. government's decision to allow NVIDIA's H20 chips back into the Chinese market. Brad Carson (former defense official and member of Congress) of Americans for Responsible Innovation and Liza Tobin (former CIA and National Security Council staffer) of Garnaut Global join Ryan to explore what this reversal says about America's approach to protecting its tech edge, whether NVIDIA's justifications hold water, why normal Americans should care about this, and what it could mean for the future of AI and semiconductor strategy. This episode also features a short clip from our new, free show, Cogs of War. You can listen to this exciting new show on defense tech and industrial issues on your podcast app of choice.
In this episode of America's Founding Series, Professor Nick Giordano uncovers the real story of Elbridge Gerry. Gerry was a Revolutionary patriot, signer of the Declaration of Independence, and Vice President of the United States, and his name has become forever tied to the controversial practice of gerrymandering. From his pivotal role in the fight for independence and his stand for a Bill of Rights, to the political pressures that led him to sign a bill he privately opposed, Gerry's life reveals the brilliance, courage, and human flaws of America's Founding Fathers. Discover the man behind the myth, and why his legacy is far more than a political cartoon. Episode Highlights How Elbridge Gerry rose from a wealthy merchant's son in Massachusetts to a key figure in the American Revolution and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Why Gerry refused to sign the Constitution, and how his principled stance helped pave the way for the Bill of Rights. The origin of “gerrymandering,” and how political loyalty led even an extraordinary Founder to a moment of human weakness.
We start off this episode talking about how dial up internet is finally going offline in September of this year! followed by a discussion about how abandoned malls all over the world may become vertical gardens in the very near future. Trump may have just brokered a peace deal between Azerbaijan and Armenia, but not for the moral reasons you may think. We then talk about how the Democrats abandoning their posts in Texas has now directly effected aid being delivered to flood victims! There is a flesh eating bacteria making its way all over the southern coastal states, and we talk about ways to stay safe from it. Appeals court has determined Trumps $2 billion budget cuts to USAID is approved, and he has also ordered an audit to be done on eight Smithsonian museums to ensure that the history is "accurate" his ideals of what makes America look great in preparations for the 250th anniversary. We briefly talk about the explosion at the US steel manufacturing facility, then transition to international news. Europe has wildfires all over the continent! Zelinsky and European leaders want to have a call with Trump right before he has his big meeting with Putin in Alaska. We finish the conversation with a discussion about two Chinese coast guard ships that crashed into each other while trying to out maneuver a Phillipino merchant ship!To join in the conversation next week, come to patreon.com/CajunKnightBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/cult-of-conspiracy--5700337/support.

Is Canada making a huge mistake by pivoting away from the U.S.? The U.S.–Canada relationship has been one of the most stable alliances in modern history – but political shifts, global instability, and rising threats from China, Russia, and Iran are testing that bond like never before. In this hard-hitting episode, we dig into the reality behind the headlines and ask the tough question: Can Canada survive – economically or militarily – without the United States at its side? We have a new show on Lions of Liberty! The Politicks Podcast! Be sure to subscribe to the standalone Politicks Podcast feed. This is the absolute best way to support the show! Listen and subscribe on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. And remember, they're all Blood Suckers! Studio Sponsor: Cardio Miracle - "Unlock the secret to a healthier heart, increased energy levels, and transform your cardiovascular fitness like never before.": CardioMiracle.com/TBNS For decades, Canada and the U.S. have fought alongside each other in major conflicts, defended shared interests, and benefited from an open, secure global trade system. But now, Canadian leaders are entertaining new defense and trade alignments, some even calling for a “pivot” away from Washington. Is this bold independence… or dangerous overconfidence? Joining me is Anthony De Luca-Baratta of Young Voices, who argues that the U.S.–Canada partnership isn't just about friendship – it's about survival. From shared geopolitical goals to economic interdependence, we explore why both nations need each other more than ever. We also unpack Canada's defense spending gap, its reliance on U.S. protection, and what that means in a world where American voters are increasingly skeptical of global policing. We don't shy away from the hard truths: America's foreign policy has been messy, sometimes overreaching, and costly – and Canadians have followed us into conflicts with questionable returns. But what happens if the U.S. steps back completely? Could Canada stand on its own in a hostile world, or would it be forced into dangerous compromises with regimes that don't share its values? If you care about national sovereignty, North American security, and the future of one of the world's most important alliances, you can't afford to miss this episode. This is more than just U.S.–Canada relations – it's a case study in how nations balance independence, alliances, and self-interest in an increasingly unstable world. ❤️ Order Cardio Miracle (CardioMiracle.com/TBNS) for 15% off and take a step towards better heart health and overall well-being!
Our throwback August continues as we go way back to Episode 33 with Paul's fascinating conversation with the sole living Medal of Honor Recipient from the Iraq War. It's a hell of a distinction–and a hell of a conversation. Take some time and listen to this timeless talk about war, humanity and the drive to push forward, even after horrific loss. From inside the very cool Classic Car Club in Manhattan. In a raw and powerful conversation, Paul sits down with David Bellavia, the first living Medal of Honor recipient for the Iraq War. David is a man Paul has known for years and a true American hero. But this isn't a conversation about glory and medals; it's a raw, honest discussion about the weight of sacrifice, the nature of heroism, and the deep, often painful, bonds forged in combat. Bellavia, an unapologetic conservative and proud New Yorker, doesn't shy away from the hard truths. He reflects on his time in Iraq, the emotional burden of the Medal of Honor, and the painful division among veterans that "ripped the soul" out of him. This is a candid discussion about the complexities of a war many Americans want to forget, the burden of being a "courier" for the fallen, and the love and loyalty that truly fuel a soldier's fight. Bellavia's perspective is a crucial reminder that at the end of the day, it's not about politics—it's about the men and women to your left and right. And it's good perspective and inspiration to absorb as we get into the final weeks of summer.
