People have been programmed to think about fashion in a way that has them disconnected from the deeper truth of fashion. The deeper truth is that fashion is a tool that can offer multi-dimensional healing to humans. Alyssa Couture, fashion industry expert, explains a new modern approach to the industry - fashion for healing. In this episode, Cathy and Alyssa discuss: Alyssa's book, Healthy Fashion, The Deeper Truths. The concept of how fashion can be used for improving our overall wellness Cosmetic fabrics as a health treatment - Manufacturing fabrics with herbs and botanicals Ergonomic VS Non-ergonomic clothing - how certain clothing supports our well-being and other clothing does not Therapeutic fashion and how it's designed to help with particular health problems The relation of fashion to health - physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, & energetic How our fashion plays a big role on our mindset Memorable Quotes: “Because really what we're going through right now, in this day, and age is a fashion process, we've moved from mainstream conventional fashion into more of the Eco sustainable fashion, which is the trend. And the future trend, which I pose in the book is fashion for wellness, fashion for health, fashion for mind, body, and spirit and soul.” “If you put something on your body,… you're picking clothes to really help your day and help your consciousness and help your mind in regards to achievements and trying to express personal self. So yes, I believe, absolutely. Fashion is a direct connection to our mindset.” Alyssa is a fashion industry expert, with over 15 years of fashion industry experience in a number of roles. For today’s episode of Health Coach Conversations, Cathy talks with Dr. Rhonda Cambridge-Phillip about being a doctor and a health coach, and why it’s important to her to do both. Rhonda shares the reason she went back to school to become a health coach and what it means to follow her calling. In this episode, Cathy and Rhonda discuss the following: What it means to be proactive about your health The benefits of being a doctor and a health coach Rhonda’s approach to self-care Rhonda’s membership programs for getting healthy As a traditional MD, Rhonda realized there was more of a focus on acute care instead of holistic care. From her experience, she also knew so many people wait until they develop symptoms to seek treatment and are reactive to their health instead of proactive. Rhonda decided being a physician and a health coach would allow her to enjoy the best of both worlds in giving her patients the best care possible. Her patients love how she presents both sides of health and wellness. Rhonda’s patients tend to understand the importance of self-care but need help with strategies and accountability, and she provides assistance with both. She reminds them to be gentle and kind to themselves and to love themselves in the process enough to stay healthy. She gives permission that it’s okay to take care of yourself, and teaches that if you take care of yourself, you have more to give to others. Instead of prescribing medications, Rhonda provides her patients with a structured, strategic, organized plan to follow so they can practice “extreme self-care” under “doctor’s orders”. Goals for Self-Care Focus on being proactive Focus on being present in the moment Allow time to explore what really works best for you Focus on lifestyle changes that lead to healthy habits In 2019, Rhonda is offering two new membership programs. Her Detox Membership focuses on detoxifying impurities and toxins not only from the physical body but from an emotional and spiritual aspect as well. The Detox program works on ways to clear your digestive, spiritual, and physical environment from negativity with noticeable results within just a week. The Natural Health Immersion Membership centers on holistic health and provides a slow and steady, natural approach to create long-lasting changes by completing simple tasks each day for an entire year. Welcome to Health Coach Conversations! Today we have a unique guest on the show, Dr. Gailla Strong, a functional medical doctor is here. She discusses her background in functional medicine, what drew her to that field, and how you as a health coach can be an important asset to that type of practice! In this episode Cathy talks about the following: Traditional medicine, integrative medicine, alternative, and functional medicine. How to team up with a doctor in your area as a health coach. Care not covered by insurance - when they need that help they’ll come in. Reviews and online reputation. Importance of overall health. Just as humans are all biochemically and genetically unique, medical complications can also manifest uniquely in each individual. Functional medicine strives to look at the body as a whole to get a better understanding of the bigger picture. Traditional medicine can miss things, and though it isn’t ideal to just give up on traditional medicine by adding in these other functional methods it becomes easier to see a clearer picture of what is happening and how to treat that specific individual. The ideal world of medicine would include looking at each patient as a whole unit instead of just focusing on the one body part that is showing symptoms. Health coaches can be very beneficial for doctors throughout all types of medicine. But particularly teaming up with an integrative or functional medicine doctor can help those patients stay on track with their overall health needs, as well as help educate those patients on why health, diet, and nutrition is so important to their overall health. You can call or email offices in your area and explain how and why you can help them as a health coach, offer them a lunch meeting to talk about your success and experience as a health coach and why you feel that a partnership would be a good fit. Welcome back for another episode of Health Coach Conversations! This is a special episode featuring Marsha of Yes Yes Marsha . Today we are going to address marketing your practice, and the best ways for you to grow your business through marketing. As a bonus, we give you the 5 best FREE ways to market your practice. In this episode Cathy talks about the following: How to make your dream clients fall in love with you by using stories. Science behind how storytelling can affect our brains. Tips to stand out storytelling to grab potential clients interest. Emotional engagement, via storytelling. What did it look like, how did it feel. Humans love stories. As humans we are wired to connect, we need it to survive, and storytelling has been in our blood for generations. Storytelling affects our brains - when you tell a story and tell it well, people’s brains respond as if they were in the story. When you engage potential clients emotionally, they get to know you very quickly and if you have similar viewpoints you instantly build trust there. The emotions in your stories can also affect the emotions of the listener; which not only helps them to remember what you said but also to remember you. We base all our buying decisions based upon emotions, so let your stories help you. We all have a ton of stories, but to tell a good story there are a few things to keep in mind. It’s less about the narrative itself and more about how you tell it. Emotions are how we connect with others, break each story down to what did it look like, and how did it feel - leaving out these details are the difference between a story that jumps off the page and into the readers head vs something they scan over and immediately forget. Only use language that you would use conversationally, if you don’t actually exclaim “Tally-Ho!” on a regular basis, don’t put it into your stories. Start your stories with an action sequence, this is where you see the granular details that keep people hooked. There are also things you should avoid with your stories. Never share a story that you haven’t come to peace with yet, you emotional distance from it. If you don’t feel okay when telling the story, the listener will pick up on that and feel unsafe. Only share one idea per story, anything that you edit out right now can be used again later or somewhere else - but keep your stories focused around one central idea. You are allowed to write and share more, I promise! One of the best things you can do for yourself to grow your own storytelling skills, is to read and listen to others tell their stories. Tricks to Telling Unforgettable Stories! The way you tell a story is much more important than what happens in it. Ask yourself two questions: What did it look like? And How did I feel? Always tell things in the chronological order that they happened to you. In order to edit your stories, think about what you most want to get across as a result of the story, and cut everything else. “Kill your darlings.” Always start your stories in an action scene - this is where you find granular details. Welcome back to another episode of Health Coach Conversations! Today I’ll be discussing an important topic for health coaches and their businesses, guaranteed income! Discover how you can be making guaranteed income by offering monthly subscriptions today! In this episode Cathy talks about the following: Guaranteed income through memberships or subscription programs. One on one coaching vs membership programs - how to help more people. Who should be offering membership and subscription programs. How subscription programs add value to our lives for all kinds of customers. The subscription business model has so much to offer not only for you, but also for your clients. Clients in membership programs have the peace of mind they won’t forget anything or have to scramble to reorder, making the program a more enjoyable experience for them overall. Clients in membership programs also feel like they are getting better overall service, because the membership is always there and so are you as their coach. On the flip end of that, as the coach or mentor, you are more relaxed when you know you have that stable income coming in, you are more likely to form closer relationships and better rapport with clients in a membership style program, and you have more time to create additional content or even new programs. If you’ve got something of value to offer, it will sell. Things To Consider When Creating A Subscription/Membership Program Content! What type of value are you going to be giving? Your personal time, access to an online group with peer support, a library of resources, additional reading materials, meal-plans, recipes, giveaways, work-out plans, etc. Decide on your membership/subscription style and delivery. Pricing - how much will you charge and how will you collect payments? Will you offer monthly, quarterly, or annual invoices? Know your ideal client when it comes to your price point and how much you should be charing based upon your target audience. How will you deliver your content? Weekly emails, online message boards/forum, daily emails, closed or private Facebook groups? Market and launch your membership/subscription! Nobody can buy from you if they don’t know that your membership exists. Member retention - find ways to keep customers in your program month after month to retain that steady income. Referrals! They’re a great way to get more people into your membership, can work as a retention tool, and is a great way to market your program. So many people subscribe to various membership programs already and might not even realize it. From small, independent online businesses to multi-million dollar corporations, subscription services and membership programs have been helping to deliver value and convenience to individuals all over the world. It is a proven business model that can also work for your online health business. If you can offer a subscription that offers both value and convenience to your own ideal clients for a good price, I can tell you right now - people will sign up! On Monday, May 21, 2018, I am stepping out of my comfort zone and producing a new podcast series called “Health Coach Conversation”. We all do hard things. I believe it’s good to expand our reach and voice when we have something important to say and that Health Coaches need to hear my message – not long rambling talks, but short, sweet mini-courses. That’s what this podcast will be all about. I’ll be sharing with you what I myself have to teach, and we’ll have wellness, coaching, and business experts in for short interviews to learn what’s new and better! We can do hard things, all of us. In 2014, at our Club Med Event, I got on the flying trapeze and flew. That helped me to do anything in my business because there’s absolutely nothing as terrifying as climbing up that ladder and crawling across on that tiny little swing and letting go. I can still feel the shaking and the sweat as Lisa Fraley and a group of health coaches yelled at me that “I had this.” Scarier than climbing higher, would have been to chicken-out and turn back. So up I went and, though it wasn’t pretty – I did it. Compared to that, this is just a little scary. By the end of this first podcast, I’ll have done it and all will be well. You health professionals have a lot to share and this podcast is meant to empower you to get out of your comfort zone and take the steps necessary to uplevel your business and get more customers. What will it look like? We’ll have podcasts twice a week! One podcast on Monday with new information and interviews and another on Thursday. It will be “Throwback Thursday” where we’re taking some of my old interviews and tutorials that are most popular, cropping and sharing. You won’t want to miss them. If you subscribe, you’ll access it easily on iTunes. If you want to access it on our site, you can. There will be a gallery on our website where you can access any of our podcasts and even search by topic if you’re looking for particular information. What can you do? Subscribe. Then, give Health Coach Conversations a 5-Star Review and Rating on I-Tunes. THEN…tell everyone you know! Share on social media, it will help us to grow and enrich the results and what we can offer to you. THANK YOU in advance! Who should listen? Any health professional. Health Coaches, doctors, nurses, nutritionist, dietitians, personal trainers, physical therapists, massage therapists. Anyone who is in the physical, mental, or spiritual health and wellness industry can benefit from what I’ll be sharing on the podcast. My purpose for this podcast is to give you the clarity, confidence, knowledge, and motivation to grow, fine tune, and strengthen your business and get more customers. Do you want more clients and money? Do you lack the time to do what you want in your business and life? Do you sometimes suffer from lack of motivation and/or follow through? Do you feel like you’re “bad” at business or being the “boss” of others? Are you technology challenged? Are you uncomfortable with sales? Do you envision a coaching business where you make a difference in the lives of others? We’ll be covering things like: Coaching Techniques Law Business Planning Online Marketing Business Growth Social Media Health and Wellness Mindset and much more. We’ll be having conversations with: some of the most respected people in wellness, business, and coaching, as well as some health professionals who will talk to us about how they nailed it. Why should you listen to me? I know what I’m doing. I’ve done it myself and for 1,000’s of health professionals. We have a community of over 100,000 health coaches. We went from 0 – to that. I’ve documented everything we’ve done and we teach it. We create researched, accurate, well-sourced programs for health professionals to work with their clients without being physically there. The nice thing is that the programs are so professional, that they perform a second job of expressing your professionalism and expertise. We’ve designed websites for health coaches and made them so affordable and easy that you won’t cry over them. We’ve created workshops for coaches to learn better ways of doing business. I put together teams like no other. Engaged, caring, smart, and effective. We’ve partnered with exceptional companies to provide you what we don’t and you need. Plus, I’m a health coach. I know what you’re going through. I want to make a difference in the lives of others and helping all of you does that.
