It's time for us to spotlight the Wild World of Wrestling! To help us shout out the correct information; we have the Ring-Master man himself: Mr Criss Fresh! After a little bit of local toy aisle chats, we get to the crux of how wrestling became the juggernaut that it is known to be. Through the eyes of Fresh, how did Wrestling hit his radar as a kid. A captivating story of Fresh following Wrestlemania through TV & Tape trading's, plus all the schoolyard banter - then the natural progression onto toys. Fresh Smacks Down the facts & memories of indestructible LJN figures & their off-shoot bendy counterparts too. The discovery of WWF Hasbro figures & their great sculpts! The realisation that some of these 'Green-back' figures did not get a wider world release - but are quite plentiful in Australia! Galoob & ToyBiz toylines featuring WCW characters & Jakks Pacific covering WWF. Poppy covering the Japanese Wresting series & Remco spotlighting the AWA Federation. Original San Fransico Toy Makers covering the WCW & ECW. Then that new age era... The 'PG' era of Wrestling. Quickly followed by an Inverted Atomic Drop.... Mattel enters the Ring & takes home the Championship Belt in the Toy Aisles; & not forgetting that CharaPro winning over in the East, under their New Japan Wrestling toyline. All this & more! A genuinely energetic chat about not only about one man's History with Wrestling Toys, but the passion to the Ring & it's very Famous Inhabitants. Spooky Season is here and I start off October with memories of No Mercy - both the classic October PPV and the nostalgic video game of the same name on the N64. I talk all about Undertaker's dismal record at the PPV, being a PlayStation kid and everything that is right about the N64 No Mercy classic that still lives up to this day. Ringside Pre-Orders and a future video game episode centered around the Undertaker is discussed. Halloween Season creates a new Top 5 Countdown of my favorite Gravest Matches of the Undertaker - kicking off with the Boiler Room Brawl at SummerSlam 1996. That match sets into motion the future of the Undertaker character and peels back the layers that created the best story WWE ever told. James Russell Hornsby has spent his life cultivating the imagination of children. As one of the foremost inventors in the toy industry, he has been recognized the world over for his creative and innovative designs that inspire wonder as they bring magic to life. His entrepreneurial spirit and passion to improve the lives of others have inspired him to create new products in household, lawn and garden, and medicinal products. However, he is best known for his work in the toy industry where he has touched the hearts and minds of millions of children around the globe. As CEO and owner of Trendmasters Inc., he built one of the largest privately held toy companies in North America, which was sold to Jakks Pacific in 2001. In 2002, Mr. Hornsby founded Cepia LLC on the premise that a small group of people passionate about their craft could make technology indistinguishable from magic. In 2009, Cepia introduced its toy phenomenon, ZhuZhu Pets®. With more than 70 million of the popular robotic ZhuZhu Pets® sold worldwide, the brand was named Toy of the Year 7 times in 5 countries and has earned a place on Time magazine's "All-TIME 100 Greatest Toys" list. In 2010, Mr. Hornsby received the Excellence in Toy Design award from the Chicago Toy and Game Group, and Ernst & Young named him one of its regional Entrepreneurs of the Year. He holds numerous patents for his work and collectively his business ventures have generated over $4 billion in retail revenue. Russ will share his creative process for inventing and licensing toys that spark imagination and wonder. Russ is pictured with one of his daughters, Mia Hornsby. https://morfboard.com/ Eitan Kramer is an entrepreneur, actor, inventor, former professional inline skater, trainer, and Guinness World Record holder. He is the creator of the MorfBoard system, which was invented to bring action sports to everyone in a way that is accessible, simple, affordable, and fun — in a totally new and innovative way. Product licensing expert Stephen Key interviews Eitan about his experience becoming an entrepreneur and bringing the MorfBoard to market, including a Kickstarter campaign and a licensing deal. The MorfBoard is a skateboard that not only converts into a scooter, but is also a balance board and even a bounce board for catching big air. Meaning children can test out four different kinds of movement, to see which they might like best, before committing to just one. Today the MorfBoard is sold by toy company Jakks Pacific. Eitan left action sports for the fitness world, where he discovered that people who were getting fit weren't loving it the way he knew other movers did. So, how could he bring his love of action sports down to a micro level so more people could experience it? You can bounce on it, balance on it, roll out on it — all movements that are functional and fun. If you can be developing skill while moving, he realized, the play element would be brought back into movement. After raising $300,000 from friends and family, he did a Kickstarter campaign, but it failed, and he was devastated. He did everything we say you don't quite need to do at first, like paying for prototypes and patents. When he wasn't successful, his community hoped he would move on. But Eitan wasn't done. He realized his invention was a better product for kids instead of adults. With the MorfBoard, kids can experience a lot of really fun movement patterns without spending a lot of money on gear. Stephen asked Eitan about why he decided to go the licensing route instead, and how he landed on licensee Jakks Pacific. They also discuss the nuances of his deal, like Eitan's level of involvement historically and today. Eitan has been extremely involved with his licensee, which he describes as fantastic and offering tons of support. Eitan discusses the many new products he's working on, a couple of which are close to a deal. No surprise here: He loves outdoor active play products! He explains how he is essentially doing project management, trying to push all of his projects forward. His advice for inventors is patience, perseverance, and play. Even when everything is on your side of the court, like ideation and design, it's still going to take a ton of time! He's been rejected so many times. And if you aren't playful with your inventing projects, it's going to be a lot harder to be creative. Ultimately, he describes his motivation for inventing the MorfBoard. You have to be persistent to bring a product to market. Bringing an invention to market? Let inventRight, the world's leading experts on product licensing, show you how. Kevin Tong is an ambitious freelance illustrator who I've had the pleasure to know for quite some time. In the early stages of his career, he began working on packaging and art direction for toy companies, and now works on his own commission projects. Kevin also creates spectacular limited prints for high profile films, which have been distributed through Mondo. In this episode, Kevin & I have an open chat about how to keep the things you love in life balanced, how to establish yourself as an artist, and how to keep your creative flow ongoing. Its been truly great to track his achievements and progression as an artist. Keep up the excellent work, TONGINATOR!
