Carl dives into a personal story about making assumptions and the importance of effective communication. This experience taught him the significance of clear communication and shared vision in leadership. Carl emphasizes the need for leaders to create awareness and build a hunger for change among their team members, rather than simply providing knowledge. He also highlights the importance of giving people time to process and accept change before taking action.EPISODE LINKS:https://www.carlkingcoaching.com/https://www.carlkingcoaching.com/bloghttps://www.instagram.com/carleking/?hl=enhttps://www.facebook.com/carleking2Confessions of a Terrible Leader is hosted by Layci Nelson and edited & produced by Fixation Point Productions. Meet Layci Nelson, president of the Transcend Leadership Collective, a leadership and communication consultancy. One of the stops on her career climb was as a director of youth services for a major nonprofit; at the age of 26 she was leading a team of 18 plus and managing a multi-million dollar budget, but didn't feel as though she had the leadership skills necessary for a healthy team. Layci was driven to become a better leader for her team, so she began to bury herself in leadership books and reach out to leaders she admired seeking insight and mentorship. That spark grew into where she is at today, helping others to expand their leadership abilities and step into greater depths of leadership. Key Takeaways: -If you need a sabbatical, take one -Hire around core values -Be willing to be vulnerable -It is okay to not know how everything will turn out https://www.transcendleadershipcollective.com/ https://www.instagram.com/transcendleadershipcollective/ https://www.facebook.com/LayciNMS https://www.linkedin.com/in/layci-nelson/ https://www.transcendleadershipcollective.com/podcast --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/compassionate-climb/message

Using work to avoid processing deep emotions will only get you so far, as Layci can attest to. We've all experienced the impact of body language, whether it was a positive or a negative experience. On this solo episode, Layci tells on herself about a time where her own body language did not align with her self-perception and the following impact it had on her team. Body language can be far more impactful than our words, and our perception of others' body language towards us is innate to our wiring for survival. Layci discusses the imperative need for self-awareness of how we as leaders present ourselves physically and how intentions so often do not align with impact. Join Layci as she shares her "Terrible Leader" moment and explores simple ways we can communicate availability and work on our approachability. She loves to embrace her sensuality and recognizes it as a part of herself. She encourages herself and others to do things for themselves and not for others! She shares her confidence with other women, teaching them that they don't need to depend on others.
