In this lively episode of "Worlds Collide," hosts LuFisto and Jeff "The Lip Man" reunite to break down a special AAA wrestling event, sharing their candid reactions, humor, and deep wrestling knowledge. The duo discusses the unique quirks of Lucha Libre, the late-night show timing, and the cultural differences between American and Mexican wrestling promotions. They provide detailed commentary on each match, from the high-flying minis and the women's bout featuring Fabi Apache and Natalya, to the entertaining mixed tag match and the action-packed four-way for the Latin American Championship. The main event sees Dominik Mysterio vying for the AAA Mega Championship, with plenty of dramatic twists, outside interference, and a celebration that cements his status as a double champion. Throughout, LuFisto and Jeff offer insights into the wrestlers' performances, the evolving landscape of AAA in partnership with WWE, and the fun, sometimes chaotic spirit of Lucha Libre. The episode wraps up with plugs for their other shows and a call to support indie wrestling, making this a must-listen for fans who love both in-depth analysis and irreverent banter.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/wrestling-soup--1425249/support.

Soon, U.S. authorities were knocking on Keith's door. He ended up behind bars in a maximum security prison. While in prison, Bulfin ended up befriending leaders of drug cartels and eventually became their private banker, while secretly feeding intelligence to the U.S. government. Bigfoot Wallace is one of those figures who looms so large in Texas history that it can be tough to separate the facts from the tall tales. Born in Virginia and hardened by tragedy, Wallace headed to Texas with vengeance on his mind. What followed was a life filled with brutal frontier battles, narrow escapes, and enough wild stories to fill volumes. As a Texas Ranger, Wallace faced down Comanche warriors, Mexican soldiers, and all the hazards the wild country could throw at him. He was captured, imprisoned, and forced to gamble his own life in a deadly lottery. Somehow, he always managed to survive, becoming both a folk hero and a figure of controversy along the way. But who was the real Bigfoot Wallace? Was he truly the courageous defender that Texans have celebrated for generations, or was there something darker beneath the surface? How much of his legend is built on truth, and how much is the result of years spent spinning yarns on a front porch? Welcome to Art is Awesome, the show where we talk with an artist or art worker with a connection to the San Francisco Bay Area. This episode of "Art is Awesome" features painter Luis Felipe Chavez, who discusses his journey from a small town in Mexico to exhibiting his work in San Francisco. Emily explores Luis's background, his inspiration from Mexican muralism, and his experience navigating life and art between two countries. The conversation covers his solo exhibition "Intermedial," which juxtaposes places and architecture from Mexico and the United States, reflecting on themes of migration, identity, and cultural overlap. Luis shares personal stories about his artistic development, the impact of winning a drawing contest as a teenager, and the influence of artists like Jose Clemente Orozco. About Artist Luis Felipe Chavez :Luis Felipe Chavez is a queer artist originally from a small town in central-western Mexico. His artistic journey began at the age of fourteen with drawing and painting classes in Guadalajara, Jalisco. From 2015 to 2020, Chavez pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Arts at the University of Guadalajara. Each summer during those years, he traveled to the U.S. to visit his family—spending time working alongside his father and brother in the agricultural fields of Bakersfield, California, and in factories in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2020, amid a global atmosphere of uncertainty and loss, Chavez completed his degree and began developing a new body of work. Later that year, driven by a desire for change despite limited English and lingering fears, he packed a few clothes and some paintings into a suitcase and moved to California.By the end of 2021, Chavez relocated to San Francisco, where he continues to live and work. Working primarily with traditional drawing and painting techniques, his art explores themes of migration, labor, identity, and belonging through a queer, cross-cultural lens.Visit Luis' Website:  LuisFelipeStudio.ComFollow Luis on Instagram: @LuisFelipeStudioMore on Luis' exhibit "INTERMEDIO" at Jonathon Carver Moore CLICK HERE. --About Podcast Host Emily Wilson:Emily a writer in San Francisco, with work in outlets including Hyperallergic, Artforum, 48 Hills, the Daily Beast, California Magazine, Latino USA, and Women's Media Center. The concept of evil is universal, ancient, and ever present today. The biblical book of Genesis clearly defines it when Cain kills his brother Abel out of jealousy. Evil is a choice to make another suffer. As long as human beings have walked, evil has been close by.Confronting Evil by Bill O'Reilly and Josh Hammer recounts the deeds of the worst people in history: Genghis Khan. The Roman Emperor Caligula. Henry VIII. The collective evil of the 19th century slave traders and the 20th century robber barons. Stalin. Hitler. Mao. The Ayatollah Khomeini. Putin. The Mexican drug cartels. Collectively, these warlords, tyrants, businessmen, and criminals are directly responsible for the death and misery of hundreds of millions of people.By telling what they did and why they did it, Confronting Evil explains the struggle between good and evil--a choice every person in the Judeo-Christian tradition is compelled to make. But many defer. We avoid the life decision. We look away. It's easier.Prepare yourself to read the consequences of that inaction. As John Stuart Mill said in his inaugural address to the University of St. Andrews in 1867: "Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing."Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

When was the last time you really connected with someone who disagrees with you? Or saw a post on social media that challenged your views? Or listened to a newscast from across the political aisle? Modern life places us in all kinds of echo chambers – so what happens when these divides stop us from actually seeing and understanding one another? Today's Sunday Pick is from How to be a Better Human, another podcast from TED. Host Chris Duffy speaks with journalist Mónica Guzmán, the daughter of Mexican immigrants who voted –twice– for Donald Trump. Now the chief storyteller for “Braver Angels”, an organization dedicated to political depolarization, Monica shares the tools she uses to find common ground with her loved ones. She talks about why interacting with (and listening to) different points of view is critical work – and how through curiosity we can achieve the seemingly impossible task of understanding those we tend to think of as our enemy. Her book, “I Never Thought of It That Way: How to Have Fearlessly Curious Conversations in Dangerously Divided Times” is out now. A recent federal indictment unsealed in June 2024 details a sophisticated scheme involving the Sinaloa Cartel and Chinese money launderers in Los Angeles. The indictment charges 24 individuals, including key figures such as Edgar Joel Martinez-Reyes, with conspiracy to distribute drugs, launder money, and operate an unlicensed money-transmitting business. This investigation, dubbed "Operation Fortune Runner," revealed that over $50 million in drug proceeds were laundered through an underground banking system linked to Chinese nationals. The money laundering network, based in the San Gabriel Valley of California, processed and concealed large amounts of drug trafficking proceeds, making them accessible to cartel members in Mexico and elsewhere. Methods used included trade-based money laundering, asset structuring, and the purchase of cryptocurrency. The collaboration between U.S., Chinese, and Mexican law enforcement led to the arrest of several fugitives involved in this scheme. This case underscores the growing partnership between Mexican drug cartels and Chinese organized crime groups to launder drug money, which funds the production and distribution of dangerous drugs like fentanyl and methamphetamine in the United States. In this episode we take a look at that indictment.  to contact me:bobbycapucci

We learn how modern recreational ziplining originated with Costa Rican biologists studying rainforest canopies in the 1970s, and how it's evolved into unique variations like the cycling zipline Michael experienced.Looking ahead to Kentucky, the pair shares their excitement about the Bourbon Country Burn event with its perfect blend of cycling, bourbon tastings, evening bonfires, and community gatherings. They'll be starting their journey on Louisville's historic Whiskey Row before heading to the Kentucky Horse Park campground, where cornhole boards will be set up and bourbon will be shared. For listeners considering joining them, there's even news of an available campsite thanks to a friend who had to cancel.Want to experience the perfect blend of cycling adventure and leisure? CBS EYE ON THE WORLD WITH JOHN BATCHELOR SHOW SCHEDULE  9-12-25 GOOD EVENING. THE SHOW BEGINS IN GAZA WITH THE GOAL OF DEHAMASIFICATION.. FIRST HOUR 9-915 John Bolton criticizes the "two-state solution" as a dead idea post-October 7th, proposing a "three-state solution" where Gaza returns to Egypt or is divided, and the West Bank is managed by Israel and Jordan. He emphasizes "De-Hamasification" as crucial and humanitarian, arguing that Arab nations, particularly Egypt, resist taking Gazan refugees due to fears of importing Hamas/Muslim Brotherhood influence. Bolton believes this is necessary for a stable future in the region. 915-930 Lorenzo Fiori shares a traditional Milanese recipe for "rice with saffron" (risotto alla Milanese), often served at La Scalagala dinners, describing it as delicious and creamy with parmesan cheese. He recommends pairing it with Italian wines like Barolo or Barbaresco from Piedmont. Fiori also discusses Italy's economic concerns regarding political instability in France and Germany, and the ongoing international interest in NATO events. 930-945 Gene Marks describes a mixed economic picture, noting that a national "slowdown" isn't universally felt, with many small businesses thriving. He highlights challenges like rising healthcare costs, spurring interest in self-insurance and health reimbursement arrangements. Marks discusses AI's impact on the workforce, specifically reducing sales and tech roles in large companies like Salesforce, but predicts a surge in demand for skilled trades not easily replaced by AI. 945-1000 CONTINUED Gene Marks describes a mixed economic picture, noting that a national "slowdown" isn't universally felt, with many small businesses thriving. SECOND HOUR 10-1015 Jim McTague reports from Lancaster County, PA, challenging the narrative of an economic slowdown. He shares examples of busy local businesses like "Phil the painter" who has never been busier. McTague observes a trend of housing price cuts, but notes vibrant local tourism and events. He highlights the significant economic boost from two new data centers, creating 600-1000 construction jobs and 150 permanent positions, bringing the county into the 21st century. 1015-1030 Max Meizlish, a senior research analyst, highlights how Chinese money laundering networks are fueling America's fentanyl epidemic by cleaning drug proceeds for Mexican cartels. These networks also enable wealthy Chinese nationals to bypass capital control 1030-1045 Richard Epstein discusses federal district court judges defying presidential orders, attributing it to a breakdown of trust and the president's "robust view of executive power" that disregards established procedures and precedents. He explains that judges may engage in "passive resistance" or "cheating in self-defense" when they perceive the president acting for political reasons or abusing power, such as in budget cuts or dismissals. Epstein also links this distrust to gerrymandering and increasing political polarization. THIRD HOUR 1100-1115 Henry Sokolski addresses the critical challenge of the US power grid meeting AI data center demands, which are projected to require gigawatt-scale facilities and vastly increased electricity by 2030. He questions who bears the risk and cost of this buildout, advocating for AI companies to fund their own power generation. Sokolski also discusses the debate around nuclear power as a solution and Iran's suspect nuclear weapons program, highlighting the complexities of snapback sanctions and accounting for uranium. 1115-1130 CONTINUED Henry Sokolski addresses the critical challenge of the US power grid meeting AI data center demands, which are projected to require gigawatt-scale facilities and vastly increased electricity by 2030. Sokolski also discusses the debate around nuclear power as a solution and Iran's suspect nuclear weapons program, highlighting the complexities of snapback sanctions and accounting for uranium.1130-1145 Professor John Cochrane of the Hoover Institution attributes current inflation to the fiscal theory of the price level. He explains that massive government spending, such as the $5 trillion borrowed during COVID-19 with $3 trillion printed by the Fed, combined with no credible plan for repayment, directly causes inflation. Cochrane differentiates this from monetarism, noting that quantitative easing (printing money and taking back bonds) did not lead to inflation. He emphasizes that the 2022 inflation spike was a loss of confidence in the government's ability to pay its debts. Successful disinflations, he argues, require a combination of monetary, fiscal, and microeconomic reforms. 1145-1200 Professor John Cochrane of the Hoover Institution attributes current inflation to the fiscal theory of the price level. He notes the president's decisiveness, courtesy to subordinates, and long workdays, with constant activity in the Oval Office. Black contrasts this informal style with Roosevelt and Nixon, suggesting it's a "three-ring circus" that nonetheless works due to Trump's methods. He also touches on Canadian perceptions, acknowledging Trump's work ethic despite political differences.EV1215-1230 Brandon Weichert highlights the immense power demands of AI and AGI data centers, requiring gigawatts of electricity and facing significant regulatory hurdles. He discusses the potential weaponization of AI, noting human nature's tendency to weaponize new technologies. Weichert shares personal experiences with AI tools like Grok, Gemini, and Claude, including instances of AI "diversion" rather than hallucination. He emphasizes the need to master this technology, as the substantial investment ensures its permanence.1230-1245 Bob Zimmerman details SpaceX's expanding Starlink reach, including a $17 billion deal to acquire Echostar's FCCspectrum licenses, ensuring Echostar's survival by partnering rather than competing. He also reports on Starship Super Heavy's 10th test flight, where metal thermal tiles failed but significant lessons were learned, with plans for an 11th flight and version three development. NASA's Dragonfly mission to Titan is vastly over budget and behind schedule, risking failure. China's technological exports, including drones and EVs, pose surveillance risks due to government control.1245-100 AM CONTINUED Bob Zimmerman details SpaceX's expanding Starlink reach, including a $17 billion deal to acquire Echostar's FCCspectrum licenses, ensuring Echostar's survival by partnering rather than competing. From military invasions, occupations, and annexations of Mexican territories in the 19th century to the post-NAFTA capture of Mexican industries, resources, and labor markets by American companies and investors, US-Mexico relations have always been defined by American imperial domination. “Mexico's economy has been economically dominated and incorporated as a kind of subsidiary or an extension of the US economy,” labor activist and scholar Justin Akers Chacón says, and that relationship of domination “determines the politics of Mexico” to this day. In this episode of Solidarity Without Exception, co-host Blanca Missé speaks with Chacón about the colonial roots of US–Mexico relations, how that relationship has evolved over the past two centuries, and how it continues to shape the politics, economics, and immigration policies of each country today.Guest:Justin Akers Chacón is an activist, labor unionist, and Professor of Chicana/o History at San Diego City College who lives in the San Diego-Tijuana border region. The Mexican fan palm — those tall, classic pseudo-trees along with other invasive species — isn’t native to Southern California, but nonetheless maintains a death grip on its ecological landscape. Within the past year, San Diego has seen multiple canyon fires propelled by these pesky out-of-towners. And within weeks of the smoke clearing, they’re already resprouting, providing fuel for another fire before native plants are able to regenerate. While fire is a natural to California’s ecosystem, necessary for many native plants to survive, it can be detrimental if it occurs too frequently. This is one of many reasons San Diego won’t be planting them on public land anymore. Our intern, Tessa Balc, sat down with the executive director of @sdcanyonlands to see how we can nurture San Diego’s native landscape.

In The Past: Garage Rock Podcast

Each version of Jackie DeShannon's "Each Time" is a treasure! We start with Jackie's original 1964 demo, which swerves from the Spectorian template and adds Mexican mariachi horns ... with backing vocals by The Blossoms, it's a winner! The same year, The Bon Bon's made the song a proper Girl Group Great with some nice doo-wop touches and cash register percussion!(?)! The Searchers brought their 12-strings and harmonizing to the song and it's especially heartbreaking in the outro. Argentina's Grupo Uno translated the song into Spanish ("Vuelvete") and their intro really wows us - the whole song is velvety! In the early 80s, Seattle's new wave chick Leslee Swanson made a nice kitchen-sink version that follows the Searcher's recipe closely. Finally, in '88 Marti Jones came out with a rockin' version that cuts away a lot of the melancholy, to great effect! Always good, it's with us you belong!

In this episode of The Wright Report, we cover the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk, Russian drones breaching NATO airspace, Trump's war on Venezuela's cartels, Mexico's tariff fight with China, a pharmaceutical victory in Tennessee, and new revelations in the 9/11 families' lawsuit against Saudi Arabia. From political violence at home to dangerous escalations abroad, today's brief carries heavy news on a day of prayer and remembrance.   Charlie Kirk Assassinated in Utah: The 31-year-old Turning Point USA founder was gunned down while speaking at Utah Valley University. President Trump called him “a martyr for truth and freedom” and ordered flags at half-staff. Video shows a sniper shot to the neck from a rooftop as Kirk addressed thousands of students. MSNBC sparked outrage with coverage that suggested Kirk's “awful words” made his death inevitable. Bryan warns, “The seal has now been broken: if you make those arguments or say those words, you're fair game too.”   Russian Drones Violate Polish Airspace: NATO confirms 19 Russian drones flew over 150 miles into Poland, with several shot down by Dutch and Polish jets. Bryan cautions that even an accident could spark a “Gulf of Tonkin–like incident” dragging NATO into direct war with Moscow.   Trump Escalates War on Venezuela's Cartels: After U.S. forces sank a drug boat killing 11, critics accuse Trump of overstepping presidential authority. War Secretary Pete Hegseth countered: “This strike sent a clear message: If you traffic drugs toward our shores, the United States military will stop you cold.”   Mexico Tariffs Chinese Imports: President Claudia Sheinbaum hikes tariffs on Chinese cars and textiles to 50 percent, aiming to shield Mexican workers and appease Trump's demands to close tariff loopholes. Bryan notes this could undercut Beijing's backdoor into U.S. markets.   Saving U.S. Antibiotics in Tennessee: Trump brokers a deal forcing Walmart and McKesson to buy amoxicillin from Bristol, Tennessee, rescuing America's last antibiotic factory from collapse. “Don't bet against America,” Bryan says, “because with leadership that actually loves this country, we will win.”   9/11 Families' Lawsuit Against Saudi Arabia Advances: A New York judge allows families to pursue claims that Saudi intel officers Omar al-Bayoumi and Fahad al-Thumairy aided hijackers. ProPublica reports al-Bayoumi was a Saudi intel asset in the U.S. coordinating with the GIP. Bryan calls for Trump to declassify CIA files: “It's time for some sunlight on what did or didn't happen that horrific day.”   "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32     Take your personal data back with Incogni! Rodrigo Medellin loves bats. The Mexican conservationist has been obsessed with the often maligned creatures for over six decades. As a child, he kept blood in ice cube trays in his parents' freezer, to feed to his pet vampire bats. He went on to create Mexico City's first ever bat festival, and to work with governments, universities, NGOs and researchers all over the world. To many, Rodrigo IS the "bat man."Like many Mexicans, he is also fiercely proud of the country's native spirits: tequila and mezcal. The agave spirits are hugely important for Mexico's economy, especially in the states of Jalisco and Oaxaca. Exports of the drinks are worth billions. Tequila and mezcal have become increasingly popular in recent decades, with sales boosted by big budget celebrity-owned brands designed to appeal to the US consumer. From Kendall Jenner to George Clooney, US celebrities have been riding high on the mass market appeal of the liquor. But the boom in these industries has had unintended consequences for Rodrigo's beloved bats. Often the agave the spirits are made from is harvested early, before the slow-growing plant can flower. This means bats cannot feed from the nectar, and critically, they can't do their job as pollinators. This contributes to agave monocultures which are susceptible to disease and blight. Rodrigo explains how he wanted to change the way the industry works, creating a “bat-friendly” certification for tequila and mezcal producers who leave 5% of the agave untouched, to bloom. But why have so few brands been certified, why is the programme controversial for some producers, and why are bats a tricky sell as far as conservation for many people and communities? Sarah Treanor spends time with Rodrigo in Mexico City and Oaxaca to find out. A Bespoken Media production. Image: Rodrigo Medellin holding a bat (Credit: Paul Webala)
