Do you ever pause and reflect on how God is working in your life?  Maybe you sit down and write the lessons you learned from Him? Or maybe you remember the ways He has answered your prayers? It is so important to pause, reflect, and remember what the Lord is doing in our lives. I am excited this week to have my mentor, Kathe Wunnenberg, back on the podcast. She was visiting, so we recorded in person in my new office! Excited to share about our ministry years. My ministry year goes from August to August, so we are going to recap any updates. But more importantly, we are going to talk about pausing, sometimes pivoting, and praising the Lord! You do not want to miss the wisdom that Kathe shares. In Episode 192 of the Best Coach Ever podcast, we're going behind the scenes of the launch of Obsessed—and more importantly, breaking down what happened before the offer ever went on sale that made it sell so freaking fast. But this wasn't because of a magical launch-day post. The real work happened during the weeks leading up to the launch. In this episode, Lynette breaks down exactly how she used her pre-launch runway to identify and agitate the problem her audience was experiencing, shift their beliefs around why that problem existed, demonstrate her solution in real time, and connect personal branding to the tangible outcomes her audience actually wanted. If you've ever launched an offer to crickets—or felt like you're constantly trying to convince people to buy once doors are already open—this episode will show you why the selling process needs to start way earlier. By the time you reveal your offer, your audience should already understand their problem, believe in your solution, and feel like buying is the obvious next step.If you love this episode, don't forget to leave a 5-star rating and a quick review. It's the best way to support the podcast and help us keep bringing you real, honest convos like this one.In this episode, we cover:1) Behind the Scenes of the Obsessed Launch [0:00 - 3:00]-Why the offer almost got scrapped before ever making it to launch.-How Obsessed went on to sell nearly three times as many seats as originally expected.2) Why the Launch Was Won Before Doors Opened [3:01 - 5:40]-Why a successful launch isn't just about what gets posted during launch week.-The difference between a strategic pre-launch runway and simply teasing “something exciting is coming.”3) Make Your Audience Understand the REAL Problem [5:41 - 8:20]-How to identify and talk about the specific problem your audience is already experiencing.-Why shifting their belief about why they have that problem makes your eventual solution more compelling.4) Become the Case Study for Your Own Solution [8:21 - 11:00]-How personality-driven content can demonstrate a personal branding strategy in real time.-Why showing your strategy working can create stronger demand than simply telling people it works.5) Connect Your Offer to a Tangible Outcome [11:01 - 13:45]-Why “build a stronger personal brand” isn't tangible enough to make an offer an easy sell.-How tp connecting personal branding to faster trust, warmer leads, easier sales, and more money 6) Make the Case Again…and Again [13:46 - 16:50]-Why repeating the same core argument across Stories, feed content, and emails matters.-How repetition gives an audience time to recognize their problem, shift their beliefs, and buy into the solution.7) The Pre-Launch Formula That Makes Buying Feel Obvious [16:51 - 20:00]-How to Identify the problem, demonstrate the solution, and connect it to the outcome people want.-How to get an audience bought into the solution before finally revealing the offer.Connect with Lynette:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lynettemariehFitness Coaching Business Accelerator: https://fcbaprogram.comThe Wellness CEO Mastermind: https://wcmprogram.com

Author Hafeez Lakhani joins Book Gang to discuss Abundance, a moving novel about an Indian-American Muslim family chasing the complexities of the American dream. I'm delighted to welcome Hafeez Lakhani to Book Gang for a heartfelt conversation about his debut novel, Abundance. Hafeez brings generosity and deep personal insight as he shares the family stories, cultural touchstones, and creative leaps behind this moving portrait of an Indian-American Muslim family. Together, we explore how the concept of naseeb—destiny—shapes both his own life and the emotional heart of the novel. Abundance follows Sakeena, a Miami Dunkin' owner facing a life-or-death decision, and her family as they navigate her agency and the messy realities of chasing the American dream. Through richly drawn characters and intimate moments, Hafeez invites us to consider what we control, what we inherit, and how generations care for one another. What does it take to make beekeeping look authentic in a Hollywood movie? In this BT Short, Jeff Ott and Becky Masterman talk with Adam Hickman of Foxhound Bee Company, who served as a bee wrangler and beekeeping consultant for The Rivals of Amziah King, starring Matthew McConaughey. Adam's involvement began when a member of the production team visited his Alabama bee supply business looking for inspiration. Before long, Adam and his team were working with the filmmakers—and teaching McConaughey how to look and move like a beekeeper. Adam takes us behind the scenes of several major bee sequences, including an elaborate cutout staged with a real colony and the striking scene of McConaughey holding a queen while thousands of live bees gather on his arm. The filmmakers wanted real bees, minimal protective equipment, and no CGI substitutes, creating some unusual challenges for the bee-wrangling team. He also explains how beekeeping equipment, honey-processing gear, colonies, comb, and even the layout of the honey house were sourced and managed for production. And while Hollywood occasionally wins out over absolute accuracy—yes, actors really do run while carrying full honey supers—Adam says the filmmakers made a serious effort to portray beekeepers and beekeeping authentically. It's a fascinating look at what happens when the craft of beekeeping meets the craft of filmmaking—and how a group of Alabama beekeepers helped bring the bees to the big screen. The system that produces the world's most important discoveries runs on metrics that nobody agrees on, odds that would stop most people, and mentorship that sometimes looks like cruelty in blue ink. Subscribe if you want science with evidence, not speculation. Lipomi is Professor and Chair of Chemical and Sustainability Engineering at the University of Rochester and the author of Science Nonfiction: Behind the Scenes in University Research. His lab works on organic electronics, materials science, recyclable polymers, and the science of human touch. He trained under George Whitesides at Harvard, one of the most cited chemists who has never won the Nobel Prize. The conversation covers the H-index, what elite mentorship actually looks like when your advisor writes “This is illiterate” in blue ink on your outline, and what the future of academic research versus industry careers looks like in an era of AI, demographic headwinds, and graduate school debt that can't be discharged in bankruptcy. We also get into homochirality, OLED displays, and why Lipomi thinks the nanotechnology revolution already happened, we just didn't call it that. What you'll hear: -Whether the academic system is designed to produce scientists or to filter them out -What is Baumol's cost disease and why it explains rising tuition costs -Why the nanotechnology revolution already happened and nobody called it that -How nanotechnology is used in cancer drug delivery today versus what science fiction promised -What it actually takes to build a PhD career at the intersection of chemistry, mechanics, and neuroscience -Whether engineering students should be reading Plato — and what countries that skip it are getting right “Find a skill at the intersection of three or more interests that no one else is working on.” — Darren Lipomi CHAPTERS 00:00 He says don't go to college. Children's fiction studio founder Jasmine Richards (Storymix), publisher Natalie Doherty (Puffin and HarperCollins Children's Books), and bestselling author Soman Chainani (The School for Good and Evil) on shaping an idea commercial enough to sell, what makes a children's book impossible to put down, and trusting the unconscious to write it.   You'll learn Why the most commercial idea is the one that centres its reader from the very first thought. How a single pithy log line can carry a book all the way from the slush pile to the playground. The counterintuitive trick of starting your story at chapter three. How to read what children are reading now so your pacing keeps up with theirs. What a publisher is really looking for when a manuscript lands on the desk — and why voice comes before plot. How the categories from early readers to YA actually break down on the bookshop shelf. The difference between weaving in a message and writing a book that feels worthy. The case for never self-censoring in a first draft, and saving the negotiation for later. How tiring out your conscious mind can unlock a freer, more instinctive way to draft. Why the goal of writing should be the writing itself, not the bestseller list.   Episode Links #050: Jasmine Richards — How to Pitch Commercial Children's Fiction & The Business of Children's Publishing #081: Natalie Doherty — The Magic of Writing for Children, Market Trends & Behind the Scenes of Publishing Children's Books #035: Soman Chainani — Writing Dark Tales for Children & Balancing Creative Work with Discipline   About the Guests Jasmine Richards is the author of over a dozen children's books, ranging from picture books to teen fiction. Her most recent novel, Keeper of Myths, was published by HarperCollins. She has over 15 years of experience as an editor, including roles at Hamish Hamilton, Puffin, and Dutton Books in New York. Jasmine is the founder of Storymix, a children's fiction studio, where she uses her unique experiences to develop new voices and inclusive stories. Natalie Doherty is a Publisher at Puffin, although during this interview she was at HarperCollins Children's Books. She's worked with award-winning and bestselling authors, including Tom Fletcher, Robin Stevens, R. J. Palacio, Tamzin Merchant, and Nazneen Ahmed Pathak. Before moving into editorial in 2010, she worked in Contracts and Rights at Hachette and holds a BA in Modern European Languages and an MA in Translation. Her recent middle-grade acquisitions include Simon Stephenson's The Snowman Code and Philippa Leathley's Inkbound. Soman Chainani's debut series, The School for Good and Evil, has sold more than 3 million copies, been translated into 30 languages across 6 continents, and became a major motion picture from Netflix starring Charlize Theron, Laurence Fishburne, Kerry Washington, and Michelle Yeoh, with Chainani as an executive producer. Each of the six books in the series — The School for Good and Evil, A World Without Princes, The Last Ever After, Quests for Glory, A Crystal of Time, and One True King — debuted on the New York Times Bestseller list. A graduate of Harvard University, Soman created his own fairy-tale major before going on to an MFA in film at Columbia University. He has made films that have played all over the world, and his writing awards include honors from Big Bear Lake, the CAPE Foundation, and the Sun Valley Writers' Fellowship. In Beasts & Beauty: Dangerous Tales, Soman reimagines old stories into fresh fairy tales for a new era. Rich Morgan graduated from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998, completed his residency at NYU Rusk Medical Center in 2002, and had everything a decade of medical school and training was supposed to produce — until a common dental procedure exposed him to opioids and changed the direction of everything he had spent his career building. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, he shares what the ten year opioid addiction that followed that dental procedure actually looked like, what writing fraudulent prescriptions to pharmacies to fuel his addiction and eventually selling prescriptions to drug dealers actually involved, what getting caught after a customer cooperated with the government actually felt like, and what being sentenced to 168 months in federal prison as a doctor — and navigating the federal system as a Jewish inmate — actually required of him before he was finally ready to rebuild what the addiction and the federal system had taken. _____________________________________________ #doctor #prison #truecrimestories _____________________________________________ Thank you to HIMS & FACTOR for sponsoring this episode: Hims: Visit https://hims.com/lockedin to get a personalized, affordable plan that gets you. _____________________________________________ Factor: Head to https://factormeals.com/lockedin50off and use code lockedin50off to get 50 percent off and 1 free breakfast item per box for 1 year, while supplies last until! _____________________________________________ Connect with Rich Morgan: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/richmorgan8761/?hl=en LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/richard-morgan-b45366143 _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Timestamps:  00:00 Introducing Rich Morgan 00:16 Growing Up on Long Island 01:04 Parents and Early Life 01:51 Dreaming of Medicine 02:17 The Incident That Inspired Him 03:33 Fascination with Fixing 04:33 Medical Shows and College 05:31 College and Med School 06:18 What is a DO? 08:46 DO vs MD Schooling 09:57 The Growing Prevalence of DOs 11:05 Salary and Residency 12:15 The First Pill 14:09 The Spiral Begins 15:12 The First Pill Experience 17:19 Dentists and Overprescription 19:30 Writing Himself Prescriptions 21:39 Life at the Height of Addiction 23:12 9/11 and Its Impact 26:10 Sponsor Break: Weight Loss by HIMS 27:33 No Oversight in Hospitals 28:56 Pharmaceutical Wild West 31:16 Self-Image and Dope Sickness 33:16 Patients and Slipping Up 38:53 The Deal with a Dangerous Patient 40:49 Arrest and the Fallout 44:00 Sponsor Break: Factor Meals 46:01 Released on Bail 49:01 Sentenced to 14 Years 52:32 Why No Manslaughter Charge? 56:56 The Real Reason for Selling 58:05 Wife's Reaction and Family Drama 01:01:50 Comparing Sentences: Jared Fogle 01:02:39 Meeting Mobsters in Prison 01:04:33 Father's Support 01:06:06 First Stop: Transfer to Prison 01:07:40 Life at Morgantown 01:12:44 Pedophiles in Prison 01:16:51 Respect as the Doctor 01:20:05 Medical Care in Prison 01:23:24 Jewish Power in the Federal System 01:27:00 Power of the Jewish Community 01:28:25 Money and Influence Behind the Scenes 01:31:03 Taking Advantage of Religious Rights 01:33:52 Smuggling and Prison Life 01:37:08 What Happened to His Medical License 01:43:13 A New Career at His Med School 01:48:49 A Bad First Date 01:51:15 Inmate Dating and Visiting Lists 01:56:40 Final Thoughts and Thanks _____________________________________________  To advertise on the show, contact sales@advertisecast.com or visit https://advertising.libsyn.com/LockedInWithIanBicka

Meghan's guest this week is Evan Barker, a former progressive operative, fundraising strategist, and author of Nothing Left: Confessions of a Democratic Operative. Meghan was eager to sit down with Evan after following her journey from a working-class Midwestern Obama campaign volunteer to a high-powered consultant who ultimately grew disillusioned with the modern Democratic machine. Together, they pull back the curtain on what actually goes on inside campaign "call time," how wealthy donor advisors hijacked progressive priorities, and why the party's relentless focus on identity politics alienated the very working-class voters it claims to represent.   In this conversation, they dive into: The Brutal Reality of Political "Call Time": What it's like to sit beside candidates for eight hours a day begging billionaires for cash, using psychological tricks, and maneuvering past corporate gatekeepers. How Identity Politics Captured the Donor Base: How wealthy donors, young staffers, and ideological consultants created race-based funding mandates and cultural litmus tests that backfired across the country. Behind the Scenes at the DNC Spectacle: Evan's bizarre encounters chaperoning TikTok influencers, dodging Chicago vasectomy vans, and realizing the party's messaging was completely detached from everyday economic strain. Marrying MAGA Populism with Bernie Sanders Economics: Why a working-class party offering real health reform alongside common-sense border control could dominate American politics—if the two-party monopoly ever allows it.   Grab Evan's book Nothing Left: Confessions of a Democratic Operative and check out her work:
