Is it EV fleets? Is it democratized tech-enabler platforms like ONDC which enables platforms like Nammayatri? Are we looking at the return of local taxi operators? India's EV landscape is changing, with startups emerging across the value chain – from all-electric cabs to e-bikes and innovative purchase options. But first, some headlines: Facebook and Instagram's parent company Meta Platforms knowingly employed methods that lured children on to these platforms, The New York Times reported on Nov. 25, citing un-redacted court documents from a federal lawsuit in the US, filed last month by California, Colorado and 31 other states in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Apple contract manufacturer Foxconn Technology will invest more than $1.5 billion in an Indian construction project to fulfill “operational needs,” CNBC reports, citing company filings in Taiwan yesterday. Tata Consultancy Services has launched its AWS generative AI practice, with an extensive catalog of use-cases for the technology, the company said in a press release yesterday. One thing today India's consumer EV landscape is changing. Startups are emerging offering new products like e-bikes and slow-speed scooters that don't require users to obtain a driving licence, and new purchase options are also being innovated to reduce the upfront cost of these vehicles to make them more competitive with their petrol burning counterparts. Yulu Bikes, for example, has started directly selling a consumer version of its low-speed moped Miracle, which it calls Yulu Wynn and which is being manufactured by Bajaj Auto. With a top speed of only 25kmph, one doesn't need a license to use this scooter on Indian roads. Yulu Wynn costs about Rs. 55,000 to buy, and then you will also have to sign up for one of Yulu's subscription plans to use the scooter. The purchase price doesn't include the battery or the software, which are included in the subscription plans, and you get access to the company's Yuma battery swapping network. This is similar to how Ather Energy or Tata Nexon users pay to use premium features on those vehicles, Amit Gupta, Yulu's co-founder and CEO told me recently. And you can find that detailed conversation on Forbes India's website. Kunal Khattar, a prolific VC investor in the EV space, points out that if we find ways to take out the cost of the battery, then that's practically half the cost of the electric vehicle. So models more like Yulu's will surely emerge, where a bank might finance the battery and the consumer gets an affordable subscription plan. Yesterday, TechCrunch reported that EMotorad Ventures, an electric bicycle maker in Pune, has raised $20 million in a Series B round. EMotorad's electric bicycle models feature self-diagnostics, removable batteries, dual disc brakes, portable chargers, and retractable aluminum frames. TechCrunch reports that the company offers a 48-hour resolution of customer complaints. Founded in 2020 by Kunal Gupta, Rajib Gangopadhyay, Aditya Oza and Sumedh Battewar, EMotorad today exports its e-bikes to more than 18 countries through white labeling and selling its own brand in the US, Europe, Australia, Japan, and some Middle Eastern markets. Of its 14 e-bike models, seven or eight are available in India and the rest are sold overseas, priced between $600 to $1,200 in the US, according to TechCrunch. Emotorad has raised more than $22.5 million in total funding, from investors including Singapore's Panthera Growth Partners, Alteria Capital, xto10x Technologies, and Green Frontier Capital. Economic Times reported yesterday that Gensol will make electric “reverse trikes,” which have two wheels in the front and one in the back, starting February, citing co-founder Anmol Singh Jaggi, who is also the managing director of Gensol, a solar engineering procurement and construction company. Jaggi expects to soon start production at a factory in Chakan, India's biggest auto manufacturing hub, with capacity to turn out 30,000 vehicles. So cheaper Blusmart rides may be on offer next year.
Trong văn hoá của Yulu- một quốc gia thuộc Châu Phi, khi mọi người gặp nhau, họ sẽ chào nhau bằng một lời chào với ý nghĩa là “I see you” - Tôi nhìn thấy bạn. Và người kia cũng sẽ đáp lại “I see you too.” In this episode, Amit Gupta, co-founder and CEO of Yulu Bikes, gives us an update on how the electric moped venture will continue its pincode-by-pincode approach to growth. Earlier this year, Yulu added a battery-as-a-service business, called Yuma. Yulu has also entered the OEM business, with Bajaj Auto making the Yulu Wynn, a more stylish version of the Yulu Miracle, that consumers can buy for about ₹55,000 upfront, and then subscribe to a battery and mobility plan. Amit expects to go from about 25,000 of Yulu's low-speed scooters on Indian roads at the time we spoke, in September, to about a 100,000 by June or so next year. He also expects Yulu to hit breakeven this year.

Company's total revenue declined by 3.3% from 315 million dollars to 305 million dollars. The main reason for this loss is acquisitions and marketing. 1/4th of the losses are because of WhiteHat Jr, a code learning platform which Byju's acquired back in 2021, which reported a loss of 212 million dollars alone. Funding this week: This week at least 10 Indian Startups raised more than $1 Million, in total raising $143.8 Mn. In this episode, we take a look at Top 10 Indian Startups who are making Two wheeler vehicles. #10 Revamp Moto: This Nashik-based two-wheeler EV startup was founded by Jayesh Tope, Pritesh Mahajan, and Pushkaraj Salunke, they're building scooters that double as miniature dukaans, or stores. Their scooters, called the RM Mitra 02 and the RM 25 are still in the development stage. The startup recently closed their pre-seed round at $1 million in June of 2022. #9 emote Electric: This Coimbatore-based electric motorcycle startup was founded by Pranav Singanapalli, and they're building something unique: India's first geared electric motorcycle, called Surge. According to Pranav, in certain conditions, this motor efficiency increase can be as high as 35%. This also means that their bike's motor can be 2.5x smaller than a gearless motor of the same performance, and this size reduction also results in a price reduction too. #8 InGO Electric: This Bengaluru-based micro-mobility startup was founded in 2018 by Nikhil Gonsalves and they are an indigenous competitor to Yulu. InGO's scooters are designed and manufactured in India. InGO recently tied up with Log9 Materials, which will be supplying them with Lithium ion battery cells. #7 Atumobile: This Hyderabad-based electric bike startup was founded by Vamsi Gaddam. Their first vehicle, the Atum 1.0, has a top speed of just 25 kilometres per hour, which is just an MVP. They plan to follow it up with a 50 kilometre per hour variant, the 1.1, and an even faster variant, India's 1st high-speed electric cafe racer, the AtumVader. #6 ElecTorq Technologies: This New Delhi-based micro-mobility startup has taken full-stack approach in offering micro-mobility for gig workers. They have battery swapping stations, they have an app so that their users can find scooters and batteries, and they have the hardware itself. Also, ElecTorq scooters are custom-built for Indian roads. #5 Orxa Energies: This Bengaluru-based performance electric motorcycle startup was started by Prajwal Sabnis and Ranjita Ravi. Orxa Energies revealed their flagship product, Mantis, in December of 2019, and while it's currently still in the testing stage, it's already breaking records: it covered a distance of 13,510 km in 54 days - this was done as a way of testing the motorcycle in all kinds of conditions #4 Simple Energy: This Bengaluru-based electric scooter startup was started by Suhas Rajkumar, when he decided to build a value-for-money EV in January of 2019. He was later joined by his friend Shreshth Mishra as co-founder. They have taken an indigenous approach to build their scooter and that's why the startup has had to delay the sale of these scooters repeatedly. #3 Ultraviolette: This Bengaluru-based electric performance motorcycle startup was built by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan. Their maiden motorcycle, the F77, has already received upwards of 60,000 pre-orders from around the world and is expected to start selling in 2022, although there have been several delays since 2020 so whether or not 2022 is the year of the F77 remains to be seen. #2 Ather Energy: This Bengaluru-based electric scooter startup was started by two IITians, Swapnil Jain and Tarun Mehta. Their first product was Ather S340 which they sold directly to consumers, Where they really made an impact was with the 450 Plus and 450X, the extremely impressive scooter duo that Ather is known for today. #1 Ola Electric: This Bengaluru-based electric two wheeler startup is a subsidiary of cab-hailing startup Ola, which was founded by Bhavish Aggarwal. They were the top EV two-wheeler seller for few months until April 2022, when they started seeing issues like fire in their scooters and were eventually toppled by other players.

His study evaluated and developed algorithms for calculating minute shifts in Heart Rate Variability against variable stressors, distinct practices for managing the Central Nervous System while under significant stress and integrative techniques to help high-level operators remain fully present in order to navigate extreme situations. 4:32 We'll rewind kind of go back and Can you unpack this idea you and I were talking offline about the waited the imbalance of the body? 5:51 The foundation of kind of the sandbag workout or kind of broaden it out to the unstable load object, we call it Yulu. Workout is, it's a different dimension, really, it becomes a very visceral expression in fitness in a way. 23:48 It's been very hard for me to change around that scarcity, approaching things from a scarcity mindset and the things that I say to myself, I have to catch. 27:09 The path that I'm now exploring to understand is, how do we move people down a line of, of releasing that originating sensation, right of, of giving that freedom to disperse and reregulate so that you can return to zero, you know, and it's not a, you know, space of stillness. 33:04 If you cannot, for the next however long we're going to be together, take judgment and set it aside. Then do me a favor and just leave because one judgment is the barrier to growth 100%. I firmly believe that we come from worlds that are highly developed to sit in constant judgment.

In today's video, we'll take a look at how Grip is building India's largest Alternative Investment Platform and how you can diversify your portfolio by investing in lease financing. Sharing economy and lease investing: At this point in the 21st century, it's possible to live completely within the sharing economy. You don't need to own anything! You can find an apartment or a PG on Stanza Living or Zolo, somewhere close to where you work, you rent furniture and appliances from Furlenco or RentoMojo, you can get your subscription water from DrinkPrime, and then if your office is close enough, you can hop on a Yulu to get there without walking. Or if you need to travel further, you've got Vogo or Bounce. And of course, you've also got ride-hailing companies like Ola and Uber, and while you're sitting in your cab, you're not gonna watch a DVD or listen to a CD or a song that you bought on iTunes, you're gonna pull out your phone and watch Netflix or listen to JioSaavn or Spotify. But if you're a startup founder and you want to build a company to meet the needs of India's rapidly growing sharing economy? How do these startups build up their inventory? This is where inventory financing through lease investing comes in. How Nikhil Aggarwal ended up starting Grip: After working at Morgan Stanley and helping startup founders take their companies public, Nikhil Aggarwal decided to jump into the world of entrepreneurship and started Chalo – a bus transport technology company. But that was not enough for Nikhil, he wanted to understand mobility at a global scale. So, he handed the reins of Chalo to his co-founders and joined World Bank as a consultant. One of the biggest problems Nikhil saw in the mobility space was scalability - startups like Chalo need tons of capital in order to build fleets or inventory - without this capital, they just can't get off the ground quickly enough to be competitive. Nikhil knew that India was full of investors looking for exciting new places to grow their wealth and this is where the lightbulb moment happens: Nikhil thought, “Why not just combine these two problems and create one solution?” With that in mind, in the summer of 2020, Nikhil launched this inventory financing, lease investing platform, along with his two co-founders, Aashish Jindal & Vivek Gulati - it's called Grip, and it's India's largest alternative investment platform. How does Grip work: Well, let's take a look at an example: ZYPP Electric - one of India's leading EV-as-a-Service platforms, they have a fleet of over 2,000 scooters across 10 Indian cities, but they didn't buy all of these scooters themselves. If they had, it would have cost them close to Rs 10 crore for their entire fleet. So this is where Grip comes in. Zypp paid Grip 10% of the amount that they needed to build this fleet, so let's say Rs 1 crore. This was a security deposit and then Grip went out and raised money from investors on Zypp's behalf. Once they'd gotten commitments from enough investors for the amount that Zypp needed to build its fleet, Grip created a Special Purpose Vehicle, an LLP that pays for and owns the fleet - that's why I said earlier that Zypp didn't actually buy their fleet of electric scooters, and they don't own it either - their investors, the ones who paid for the fleet and who make up this LLP, are the ones who own it. And for this ownership, they get fixed monthly returns up until the day that Zypp finishes paying for the fleet themselves.

Today we are going to talk to a phenomenal woman who has become a trend setter in zero waste living in India. She is none other than Sahar Mansoor Founder and CEO at Bare Necessities. Sahar says that she's and accidental entrepreneur and that Bare Necessities started in her pursuit to lead a zero waste life. Bare Necessities addresses serious flaws in manufacturing, distribution, and consumption by innovating and providing sustainable solutions to waste, and identifying problems that more companies need to address if they want to be innovative and socially-conscious. Their products take a cradle-to-cradle approach right from from the design to manufacturing to distribution. Recently, Sahar and her team launched an online course for those who want to switch to understand circular economy. Diwali just got over, and following the fatal trend of smog in the nation's capital for the past five years, it is here again. It is alarming to recognize that India is home to 7 of the top 10 cities globally, notorious for its air pollution levels. With increasing incomes, more and more people can afford cars, increasing the severity of the already worse air pollution scenario due to fossil fuels. All this emphasizes the need for greener transportation alternatives. Despite the bad news, we have several large companies and startups leading the way to clean modes of travel, be it the prominent players like Tata Motors, MG, and Hyundai or the startups like Ola Electric, Ather Energy, Yulu, and Blu Smart, among others. In today's episode, we've brought Arpit Agarwal, Director at Blume Ventures, to talk about the current scenario of EV startups in India. Formation Studio co-founders Roman Magbanua and Saschie Maclean-Magbanua are a couple completely in-synch with one another, in work and in life. Before opening their dance & movement space, Roman spent years in visual design for film, television, and videos, while Saschie paved her PR career path at Tourism Vancouver and agencies Yulu and Popcorn.Roman was born in Winnipeg and raised in Vancouver, growing up in an intense home environment. His tough & independent yet observant spirit led him to follow his creative pursuits in visual arts & motion graphics, working for companies such as Microsoft, Black Rhino Creative, and Loud Crow Interactive. Saschie grew up in Cloverdale, a competitive cheerleader through her high school years. A serious injury sidelined her, causing her to rethink her identity beyond the sport she was dedicated to for so long. Eleven years ago, it was a mutual love for dance that brought them together at a class and, after a short stint as just friends at first, they became partners in life and, eventually, business. In this conversation, we explore the delicate balance of Roman's childhood growing up with an addict father; how they do MDMA together once a year as a home date night in order to reconnect with one other; the loss of Saschie's younger sister in a car accident in 2014, the grief that came with it & healing through dance; Formation Studio's thoughtful approach to dance & movement as both a therapeutic activity and philosophy; what it means as a couple to put each other first, while taking care of oneself at the same time; and much more.

In this episode, Laszlo explains a little about the "Gagi Nang", the 自己人, known the world over as the Teochew (Chiu Chow or Chaozhou) people. Like the Hakka people, the Teochew's were originally from the Yellow River Valley and migrated to their present location on the Guangdong coast via Fujian province. Their language and culture is unique. Their food and Chaozhou culture is celebrated in more places than Chaozhou and not just by the people from that region. There are Chaozhounese people on every continent except maybe Antarctica. They're a proud group of people with a collective track record that is admirable by any standards of human achievement. The only mentions in this episode were of the Teochew's of South East Asia and the US. There are plenty of other lesser-known or unknown histories of Teochew's in Canada, Europe, Mexico, Central and South America, and of course Australia and New Zealand. The great 19th-century Chinese diaspora is filled with stories, legends, and historic events. The Chiu Chow people are a major part of everything that happened. They contributed not only to the society and the economy of their adoptive homelands, they still kept their ties with the eight districts of Chao-Shan.
