Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network Growing up as one of North America's top tennis players, who ranked as the second-best at one point, and traveling around the world competing to be the next Andre Agassi, Shawn was told at age 23 that he had to decide whether to try and become a tennis professional or get an MBA. He chose a university education. Shawn Finder always was an entrepreneur at heart. At age 24, he stepped into the entrepreneurial world and never looked back. He started out importing packaging from the Orient and selling it to top retailers in North America. However, as selling was his passion, Shawn founded a list-building company ExchangeLeads in 2013, in order to help salespeople build quality lists for reaching out to new prospects. In early 2018, Shawn parlayed ExchangeLeads into his second startup called Autoklose, which is a new, revolutionary sales automation platform used by thousands of sales professionals around the world to help them save both their time and money. Even today with a team of over 50 people, Shawn Finder still loves doing sales, and you can often see him giving demos or answering customer support questions, but also attending different conferences around the world. Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network Like many of us, Bob Miglani felt overwhelmed and anxious. He worried constantly about his job, his finances, and his family. It was a chance invitation to India, the land of his birth, that finally freed him. India, Miglani writes, is “the capital of chaos”: over a billion people living on one-third the space of the United States. And it was there that he learned to let go. The secret is to stop trying to control the chaos and focus on what you can control—your own actions, words, and thoughts. Move forward, make mistakes, trust your intuition, find your purpose. In this inspiring book, Miglani shares the experiences and encounters that helped him finally get it. What happens when you find yourself in an Indian village with no money and a plane to catch? How could an educated urban woman agree to a marriage after two dates? What keeps a rural health worker motivated despite the enormous need and such limited ability to help? What does trying to catch an insanely overcrowded bus teach you about perfection? Embracing the chaos, Miglani found, “leads us down paths we never would have walked on...It brings out strengths we never knew existed inside of us.” Chicke is a philanthropreneur • she zigs where others zag, creating value, growth and bringing to life crazy good ideas that will leave a legacy

Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network Companies around the globe are increasingly pursuing M&A as a growth strategy. Odds are, at some point in your career, your company will be one of them. Jennifer J. Fondrevay, an M&A expert who has led teams and brands through three separate multibillion-dollar acquisitions, reveals that these transitions are as stressful as a major loss or moving to another country. The normal human reactions of fear, anger, anxiety, and denial can make the experience hellish, make leading change overwhelming, and keep you from capitalizing on opportunities. To help you navigate the chaos and your emotions and see how M&A can, in fact, further your career, she has written NOW WHAT? the guide she wished for years ago. Based on 60 interviews with M&A integration survivors and practitioners, NOW WHAT?: Explains the drivers behind M&A so that you can anticipate what's coming and start to appreciate where the opportunities might be. Exposes the post-deal experience for what it is: a journey from denial to acceptance through the M&A stages of grief. Identifies the "cast of change" characters (e.g., the Former Rock Star, the Black Widow, etc.) and how to engage them. Helps you construct a total "survive and thrive" game plan for cultivating the right mindset, collaborating with the "other side," and finding your niche to succeed. NOW WHAT? helps anybody in the middle of it all, from C-suite executives to team leaders and players, come out stronger on the other side to help their companies do the same. ******** Jennifer J Fondrevay is the Founder and Chief Humanity Officer of Day1 Ready™, a consultancy that advises forward-thinking business leaders, owners, entrepreneurs and C-Suite executives on how to prepare for the human capital challenges of M&A. As a Fortune 500 C-Suite "survivor" of three multibillion-dollar acquisitions, Jennifer has been on all sides of the deal equation. She saw countless growth strategies fail due to a workforce that couldn't pivot and adapt as quickly as leadership anticipated. When her Harvard Business Review (HBR) article, "After a Merger, Don't Let 'Us vs. Them' Thinking Ruin the Company" went viral, Jennifer recognized the power and interest in a human-centric approach to business transformation, where employees are at the heart of the change and not on the sidelines. Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network We all want to be customer centric…but most of us struggle with that vague term, and how to measure it. Radical Value reveals that the measurable, trackable, trainable thing you really seek --at the core of customer centricity--is customer-perceived value. Radical Value breaks through the confusing tangle of sales performance solutions available today. There's radical simplicity –and radical power -- in focusing everything your company does on customer value. Radically flipping the 10% of today's training/coaching effort currently devoted to value: the thing that moves 90+% of customer decisions. Radically re-thinking how -- and how widely – we engage customers who are more distracted and siloed than ever, causing buying decisions to dissolve into a confused mess favoring “no decision”. Radically re-thinking how we organize our companies, often every bit as siloed as our customers, where one role “sells”, while many serve customers but never relay value discoveries they make almost daily. Radical Value doesn't stop at high-level theory, but provides intuitive, easy-to-implement tools that should integrate into your existing systems and workflows, implementing radical value focus. Sellers will learn how to sell and price to value. Marketers will master outcome-based messaging. Product/ service managers will gain insights into current customer outcomes...and guide more powerful future innovations. Executives will be able to form value-based feedback loops between every function in their companies. The Game Changer is featured on C-Suite Network. Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network Many digital marketers are exceptional in their roles, but what can make them extraordinary is understanding classic sales techniques that work wonders. By applying these timeless truths to a new medium, marketers can understand the underlying principles and extend them into the digital age. When I started building websites in the mid-1990's, I did not have any definitive resources. Technology was young. It was the "Wild West" when it came to designing and developing websites. However, what I could use was the training I had received from two unlikely sources. The first was my journalism concentration from my degree in Communications. The second was a comprehensive sales training course. These two resources enabled me to create websites that gained attention, had high rankings in the search engines, and were converting visitors into customers. Back then, I did not know that my background provided a perfect methodology for dealing with technology through the lens of persuasion and sales. Even as marketing technologies changed and increased, they simply built on the basics of sales and persuasion. My focus on the business side of things only solidified as I learned how to use analytics and how to improve rankings, increase visitors and conversion rates. Ultimately, sales increased because of the focus on the right things to affect the right results. Now, as marketing technology and marketing automation are poised to transform sales and marketing forever, I find that the basic sales skills are more important than ever. Understanding why people respond the way they do and why certain tactics work are both essential to growing beyond the technology and knowing the "WHY." When you know the WHY, you can change anything. These skills are irreplaceable - even by robots. The Game Changer is featured on C-Suite Network. Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network 21st century customers are demanding more than ever - they will communicate with a company in whatever channel they need at the time they want. They want their interactions with the company to be seamless, convenient and simple. They want to get whatever they want to do with your company done as fast as possible. AND they want more than just good products and services, , the tools they need to control their interactions with your company and consumable experiences. All in all, if you can't compete by engaging them in ways that make them want to come back, you lose. While this is a complex effort, because you have to satisfy the needs of potentially millions of customers, it is simple in its fundamental principle - if a customer likes you and continues to like you they will continue to do business with you. If they don't they won't. Simple, but the execution isn't because you have to identify what each of those millions of customers wants and needs and keep the provision of those individual needs cost-effective enough to be of value to you and yet still provide value to them. Plus they have to e able to retain control over their own interactions with you - because if they lose the option of control of their conversation with you, they are gone. To do this takes a substantial effort. That's where the Commonwealth of Self Interest: Business Success Through Customer Engagement by Paul Greenberg comes in. This book is the first of its kind to present the definitions, frameworks, strategies, programs, business operations, cultural transformation, systems technologies, and measurements to successfully engage your company's customers - whether your company is small and growing or an immense enterprise with millions of customers. The changes in sales, marketing, customer service and commerce are profound and how to navigate those changes and provide the right approaches and programs are addressed and the impact of successfully addressing those changes is shown by case studies and stories - as is what happens when you don't adjust to what your customers have already adjusted to. Throughout the book, which is written in a entertaining and conversational style, you will find dozens of case studies, proven best practices, expert advice and analysis from Paul and nearly 20 of his closest friends - all experts in their respective fields. Paul Greenberg, known as the "Godfather of CRM" is a best selling author who wrote CRM at the Speed of Light, called "The Bible of CRM" that has been through 4 editions and 9 languages. An adviser to many companies at the enterprise level, over the years (and there have been many of them - years that is), he has been able to piece together a strategic framework at the highest level and a lot of best practices/tips & tricks at the deepest level including things like mapping customer journeys to help you structure your company's efforts around providing and receiving value to and from your customers. If you don't want to believe him, read Brian Solis on user experience, Bruce Temkin on customer experience, Ray Wang on digital transformation, Brent Leary on the future of the engagement technology landscape or Esteban Kolsky on why building ecosystems is a practical matter not an academic exercise. And many others. Others may claim that theirs is the only book you'll ever need to do....whatever. This book probably isn't the only book you will ever need. No one is saying customer engagement is simple. But it is likely to be the first book you'll want to read on your journey to becoming a company that is both better for your customer and great for you. How to talk to customers & learn if your business is a good idea when everyone is lying to you Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network They say you shouldn't ask your mom whether your business is a good idea, because she loves you and will lie to you. This is technically true, but it misses the point. You shouldn't ask anyone if your business is a good idea. It's a bad question and everyone will lie to you at least a little . As a matter of fact, it's not their responsibility to tell you the truth. It's your responsibility to find it and it's worth doing right . Talking to customers is one of the foundational skills of both Customer Development and Lean Startup. We all know we're supposed to do it, but nobody seems willing to admit that it's easy to screw up and hard to do right. Why Some Organizations Transform While Others Fail Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network Many companies make disruption their goal. They believe that if they develop the right innovation, they will disrupt their markets forever and drive the kind of growth worthy of a magazine cover story. But as bestselling author Charlene Li explains, that's not how disruption works. Disruption doesn't create growth; instead, growth creates disruption. Growth is always hard, and disruptive growth is exponentially harder. It requires companies to make tough decisions in the face of daunting uncertainties: Should we bet our company's future on next-generation customers or today's reliable ones? Should we abandon our current business model for an entirely new one? Making bold changes demands bold leadership and, often, massive cultural transformation. Over the years, Li has seen some organizations beat the odds and succeed at becoming disruptive: Adobe, ING Bank, Nokia, Southern New Hampshire University, and T-Mobile, among them. Their stories make it clear that organizations don't have to be tech start-ups or have the latest innovations to transform. What they need to do is develop a disruptive mindset that permeates every aspect of the organization. Li lays out how to do so by focusing on three elements: a strategy designed to meet the needs of future customers; leadership that creates a movement to drive and sustain transformation; and a culture that thrives on disruptive change. Drawing on interviews with some of the most audacious people driving disruptive transformation today, Li will inspire leaders at all levels to answer the call to lead disruptive transformation in their organizations, communities, and society. The Project Management Revolution Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network Imagine a world in which most projects – personal, social, corporate, organizational and governmental – are successfully accomplished. That is the purpose and the reason for writing this book. There is work to be done. Only a select few projects deliver their purpose, meet their expected goals, achieve sustainable benefits, satisfy most stakeholders, meet their deadlines and stay within their original financial budget. So what is the secret? What can we learn from the thousands of failed projects? And how can we develop a framework or tool that guarantees, or at least significantly increases the chance of, project success? In fact, every aspect of our lives is becoming a set of projects. The speed of change witnessed in the past decade has radically affected the way we organize and manage our companies and work. Many of the traditional activities in organizations will soon be carried out by automation and robots. In this new landscape, projects are becoming an essential model to create value. In short, we are witnessing the rise of the project economy. Leading projects thinker Antonio Nieto-Rodriguez explains the tremendous consequences that this unnoticed disruption is having on our lives and the reasons behind it. He also looks at how leading companies, governments, schools, and universities have already embraced projects as the way to deliver on their strategy and ambitions. Ultimately, this book explains how individuals and companies can develop the competencies required to transform and thrive in the new digital and project-driven economy. A Complete Guide to Writing, Editing, Marketing & Selling Your Own Book Back by Popular Demand - Jan Yager Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network, showcased on C-Suite Network A new world has opened to writers who wish to have their words turned into finished books. With technological advances in typesetting, printing, distribution, and sales, self-publishing has become a reality. But while converting your writing into a commercially available title may sound relatively easy―based upon the claims of some companies that offer this service―there are many important considerations you should be aware of before going to press. Publishing expert Dr. Jan Yager has created an easy-to-follow guide that will take you from a book's conception and writing to its production and sales. Whether your work is fiction or nonfiction, How to Self-Publish Your Book offers sound and proven advice at every turn, enabling you to avoid common pitfalls along the way to becoming a self-published author. The book is divided into three parts. Part One takes you through the initial manuscript preparation―setting your goals, writing, sequencing, editing, and proofing, as well as creating a business plan for your book's eventual release. Part Two focuses on the actual production of your book. It explains the importance of cover and interior design, what you need to know about producing physical books and e-books, and how to turn your title into an audiobook. Part Three provides key information on how to market and sell your book―subjects that are crucial to a title's success, but of which most writers have very little understanding. Also included is a valuable resource section that guides you to websites which offer essential information on self-publishing service providers, including complete self-publishing companies as well as freelance editors, proofreaders, printers, distributors, marketers, and publicists. Today, self-publishing workshops and lecturers charge hopeful writers hundreds of dollars, promising to turn their self-published books into bestsellers. The fact is that your book's chance of success starts at its origin, not with the finished product. However you choose to produce your book, whether through a self-publishing company or through separate services, here is a complete road map to what lies ahead―based not on hype or wishful thinking, but on Dr. Jan Yager's lifetime of experience in the world of publishing. Why Learning Beats Knowing in the New Game of Work Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network. The original live interview was 3/11/16. In a time of constant change, success depends on seeing the world through rookie eyes, and in this essential guide, the bestselling author of Multipliers explains why we are often at our best when we are doing something for the first time—and how to reclaim and cultivate this curious, flexible, youthful mindset called Rookie Smarts. Leadership expert Liz Wiseman argues that the most successful rookies are hunter-gatherers—alert and seeking, cautious but quick like firewalkers, and hungry and relentless like frontiersmen. Most importantly, she identifies a breed of leaders she refers to as “perpetual rookies.” Despite years of experience, they retain their rookie smarts, thinking and operating with the mindsets and practices of these high-performing rookies. In a rapidly changing world, experience can be a curse. Being new, naïve, and even clueless can be an asset. Rookies are unencumbered, with no baggage to weigh them down, no resources to burden them, and no track record to limit their thinking or aspirations. For today's knowledge workers, constant learning is more valuable than mastery. Rookie Smarts addresses the questions every experienced professional faces: “Will my knowledge and skills become obsolete and irrelevant? Will a young, inexperienced newcomer upend my company or me? How can I keep up?” The answer is to stay fresh, keep learning, and know when to think like a rookie. Rookie Smarts isn't just for professionals seeking personal renewal; it is an indispensable resource for all leaders who must ensure their workforce's remains vital and competitive. Liz Wiseman teaches leadership to executives around the world. She is the President of The Wiseman Group, a leadership research and development firm headquartered in Silicon Valley, California. On the surface, not much, other than consistent success in their fields. But below the surface, they share a common approach to finding, nurturing, leading, and even letting go of great people. The way they deal with talent makes them not merely success stories, not merely organization builders, but what Sydney Finkelstein calls superbosses. After ten years of research and more than two hundred interviews, Finkelstein—an acclaimed professor at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business, speaker, and executive coach and consultant—discovered that superbosses exist in nearly every industry. If you study the top fifty leaders in any field, as many as one-third will have once worked for a superboss. While superbosses differ in their personal styles, they all focus on identifying promising newcomers, inspiring their best work, and launching them into highly successful careers—while also expanding their own networks and building stronger companies. Among the practices that distinguish superbosses: They Create Master-Apprentice Relationships. Superbosses customize their coaching to what each protégé really needs, and also are constant founts of practical wisdom. Advertising legend Jay Chiat not only worked closely with each of his employees but would sometimes extend their discussions into the night. They Rely on the Cohort Effect. Superbosses strongly encourage collegiality even as they simultaneously drive internal competition. At Lorne Michaels's Saturday Night Live, writers and performers are judged by how much of their material actually gets on the air, but they can't get anything on the air without the support of their coworkers. They Say Good-Bye on Good Terms. Nobody likes it when great employees quit, but superbosses don't respond with anger or resentment. They know that former direct reports can become highly valuable members of their network, especially as they rise to major new roles elsewhere. Julian Robertson, the billionaire hedge fund manager, continued to work with and invest in his former employees who started their own funds. By sharing the fascinating stories of superbosses and their protégés, Finkelstein explores a phenomenon that never had a name before. And he shows how each of us can emulate the best tactics of superbosses to create our own powerful networks of extraordinary talent. A fascinating exploration of the world's most effective bosses—and how they motivate, inspire, and enable others to advance their companies and shape entire industries, by the author of How Smart Executives Fail. A must-read for anyone interested in leadership and building an enduring pipeline of talent. “Maybe you're a decent boss. But are you a superboss? That's the question you'll be asking yourself after reading Sydney Finkelstein's fascinating book. By revealing the secrets of superbosses from finance to fashion and from cooking to comic books, Finkelstein offers a smart, actionable playbook for anyone trying to become a better leader.”—Daniel H. How Dreams Take Flight at Midlife Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network Are you going through your life on autopilot? Are you doing the day-to-day things that need to be done, but not doing what your heart is telling you to do? Finding the Wow is the uplifting story of a mom who realizes that she's not happy, just busy. When MJ and her friends—the Chicks in Charge—fight to redefine their second acts, they discover their strengths as they face their individual challenges—a failing marriage, long-forgotten dreams, and illness. MJ shares her own moments, harrowing and wonderful, great and small, on her journey to becoming a pilot. On these pages, you will find tales of humor, tragedy, excitement, disappointment, vulnerability, and the friendship of the invincible Chicks who battle obstacles, find courage, and triumph! Like the Chicks, you may find purpose in unexpected ways. But whatever your airplane is, fly it! MJ Marggraff is a commercial pilot, author, and a project leader who has created a unique and new space experiment which is currently on the International Space Station. Twelve years ago MJ would not have listed these things about herself; but that was before making a major course correction and adding something new to her calendar —Flight School— that changed her life completely. Her latest book, Finding the Wow – How Dreams Take Flight at Midlife, tells how, at age 45 and while an at-home mom of two young children, she decided to follow her childhood dreams, overcome her fears, and learn to fly. Making a change following a passion, and learning how to fend off fear and doubt began when MJ lost her planning book, decided to refill it with her dream and then make a remarkable experience come true for others. And there were plenty of fears: starting something new, being the only mom-female-older member in a flight class of young men, worrying her family, and wondering how she could pull over if something went wrong flying solo. Over the years, and after receiving several pilots' licenses, more doors opened to even higher dreams. MJ became a mission support assistant and trained for sub-orbital spaceflight, published articles on her flying stories, received an award for best humor in aviation, and keynote speaker at several events. Her stories inspire others to not let fear rule our life and to realize that we can reinvent ourselves at any age. Most importantly, she hopes that readers of Finding the Wow will be motivated to do what they love. Her experiment to space is underway as a pilot project that has already inspired students to touch the stars; NASA's education center is interested in offering it to thousands of students nationwide. Her background includes FAA Flight Instructor, M.Sc. in Education, and leadership and management positions at Hewlett-Packard and Genetics Institute where she worked to create better teams. She is currently researching issues on long-duration space flights and the ways to help on-board crews succeed on their difficult missions. MJ has been accepted to a doctoral program where she will continue her research, during which time she will find herself in strange and distant places. People will make the wrong decision. People will not respond well. I will lose my authority. I will no longer be needed. Nanette L. Steffenhagen review- "This book pertains to improving leadership skills by drilling down into issues using the "Tell me more" technique, which gets "all the cards on the playing table". Using this fresh approach, the leader's facilitation enables their direct-reports to figure out how to address various situations. The end result is that the subordinate gains confidence, ownership, and more buy-in with the resolution, which in turn benefits the leader. This technique could be used in any coaching capacity. The book is easy & enjoyable reading, which helps after a full day of work!" JSC review- "So many leadership books are dry and simply deliver their step-by-step bullets to success coupled with some analysis and a pile of statistics. Ms. Sherlock's book differs in that it is fictionally set in a corporate sales organization with character types we've likely seen before in our own experiences. That familiarity makes it easy to relate to the characters she develops and helps us remember the points being made in each all-too-true situation. I found myself rooting for each as they explored better methods and earned the resulting victories. The importance of positive relationship development and the resulting value when the topics suddenly get real (the book relates the story of denying promotion to 1 of 2 qualified internal candidates) are points well made in the book. I was reminded that honest, direct and genuine dialogue can transform a potentially negative situation into a positive. Leadership qualities like humility, fairness and empathy are displayed by the characters, as is the payback that can be gained from building such a culture and pushing that down from the senior management level. Michael is an Author, Dynamic Speaker, Sales Coach, Executive Leader, and founder of Sherlock Enterprises, LLC. An aspect of the story that resonated with me involves our desire to solve problems and execute solutions quickly, without giving enough thought to the development of each individual teammate. We all want a shorter task list and that can lead to implementing half-baked remedies. Pushing back the chair to truly understand the problem, then guiding the person facing it to come around to his or her own understanding of the problem builds confidence and achieves buy-in to the solution. While it may still be your solution, they have arrived at it on their own through the ‘tell me more' discovery method. Finally, the story deals with the issues of personal confidence and vulnerability that many leaders feel. Can I do it? Will my people listen? Can I get out from under my own shadow? It describes the necessary transition from executing everything directly to empowering people to find and execute their own solutions. As the saying goes, ‘many hands make the work seem light.' This book gets right to that point." To order the book click HERE Michael's website is http://shockyourpotential.com The Game Changer is featured on C-Suite Network. How Great Companies Fuel Innovation Through Diversity by David Livermore Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network Today's workforce is more diverse than ever before. But despite new perspectives and talents, the promise of increased innovation rarely materializes. Why are so few businesses seeing results? Studies show that diverse teams are more creative than homogenous ones–but only when they are managed effectively. This research-based plan turns diversity's potential into economic reality. David Livermore is a Researcher, Speaker &, thought leader in cultural intelligence (CQ) and global leadership and the author of ten books on cultural intelligence and global leadership. 8 Powerful Strategies for Remarkable Conversations by Paul Axtell Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network Meetings have become a pain point for millions. Many see them as useless sessions that take time away from meaningful tasks. But one consultant with more than 30 years of experience has a different perspective: that meetings matter and they can be mastered. In Meetings Matter, Paul Axtell emphasizes the importance of meetings, and he redesigns them using the vital foundation of conversation. Paul provides consulting and personal effectiveness training to a wide variety of clients, from Fortune 500 companies and universities to nonprofit organizations and government agencies. A large focus of his work is how to run effective and productive meetings: to turn them from the calendar items that so many dread into useful, productive sessions with measurable results. With real-life examples and actionable advice, he shows you how to design meetings for results, lead them to achieve agendas that move projects forward, and even allow time to build the relationships that make working together in a remarkable way possible. This book will revolutionize the meeting, moving it from that dreaded obligation to the most powerful way to get things done in business and in life. Meetings are at the heart of effective organizations. Each meeting is an opportunity to clarify issues, set direction, sharpen focus, create alignment and move ambitions forward. We have to change the way we think about meetings, the way we design and lead them, and, most importantly, how we manage what happens between meetings. Axtell offers eight powerful strategies for fixing our meeting problems, and within each strategy, he provides concrete advice you can put into action immediately such as limiting participants, being vigilant about what gets on the agenda, designing the conversation for each agenda item, and managing the experience for everyone in the room so people leave feeling heard and appreciated. Further, he explains how meetings can be your primary way to create and maintain your network of relationships. We go to meetings. A lot of them. So let's put creating and building relationships in front of us as one of the desired outcomes. What would you do differently if you looked at each meeting as an opportunity to add to your network? Paul has an engineering degree from South Dakota School of Mines and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. He has ten years of engineering manufacturing experience and fifteen years of experience in corporate personnel and training. The last twenty years have been devoted to designing and leading programs that enhance individual and group performance within large organizations. He is the author of Ten Powerful Things to Say to Your Kids: Creating the Relationship You Want with the Most Important People in Your Life, which applies the concepts of his work to the special relationships between parents and children of all ages. Thus far, it has been translated into Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, French and Spanish. He is also the author of Being Remarkable, a small but power-packed collection of action items gleaned from more than thirty years of coaching people toward greater personal effectiveness aimed at developing the awareness that is the beginning of true and lasting change. Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network Karen Hough doesn't want you to be "perfect." People fear public speaking because they worry about having to conform to all sorts of handed-down rules that tie them up in knots and put their audiences to sleep. It's authenticity and passion that win people over, she says, not "polish." But you can't be authentic if you're following guidelines that drain the life and personality out of your presentation. Hough debunks over a dozen myths about presenting to make it more fun and natural for everyone. She explains how practicing in front of a mirror makes you worse, why you should never end with questions, and much more. She includes true stories of people who not only were able to become great presenters by being "bad" but actually came to enjoy it! Like them, by following Karen Hough's wise and witty advice, you'll be able to tear up the old rules and embrace and develop your own style. You'll be freed to be a living, breathing, occasionally clumsy human being whose enthusiasm is powerful and infectious. The Game Changer is featured on C-Suite Network. THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP AND HOW IT SHAPES OUR LIVES Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network Does Friendship play a role in being successful in business? Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network Here you will find the answers to your questions about friendship: how do friendships start, how do you keep it going, why do some friendships last a lifetime and others end? You will also find out about friendship throughout history and in the social sciences as well as friendship throughout the lifecycle. FRIENDSHIFTS is divided into five parts: Part 1, “That's What Friends Are For,” covers the power of friendship, definitions of casual, close, and best friends; perspective on friendship including the Great Friend and the Modern Friend Approach; the process of becoming friends, from acquaintance to friend; and friendship patterns (two-way, three-way, four and more friendships); Part 2, “Friendshifts, or How Friendship Changes Throughout Life,” has chapters on childhood and the single years and marriage and friendship; Part 3, “How to Be a Better Friend,” has chapters on how to maintain and improve a friendship; how to prevent a friendship from ending; and how to handle friendships that end; Part 4, “Work and Friendship,” has two chapters including “How Friendship Enhances Your Career” and “Male and Female Work Friendships;” and Part 5, “Life and Friendship” has two chapters including, “The Friendship Factor in Everyday Life,” on how to apply the author's friendship principles to befriending your relatives including your children, your father or mother, and your spouse (romantic partner) and “Summing Up.” The book is based on the author's doctoral thesis and additional original research consisting of surveys and interviews. "Friendshifts" is a word Dr. Yager coined to denote how sometimes our friendships may shift throughout our lives, and even how we define a friend. Fortunately, in some instances, lifelong friendship does happen. FRIENDSHIFTS explores what you can do to help a friendship to last. Even with the most enduring friendships, there may be an ending because of death. (There is a section in FRIENDSHIFTS on “Coping with Endings Because of Death.”) The examples, anecdotes, quotes, and studies cited throughout the book reinforce the notion that the right friends will help you to get ahead or to be happy in life, and even to live a longer life; the wrong friends can sabotage you or even get you hurt or killed. Dr. Jan Yager is a sociologist, freelance writer, coach, speaker, artist, and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York. She also teaches at Baruch College and William Paterson University. The Game Changer is featured on C-Suite Network. 12 0824 Whitney Johnson Book by Chicke Fitzgerald Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network. Whitney Johnson, popular Harvard Business Review blogger, has a goal: to help us identify and achieve our dreams. Her belief is that we can each achieve greater happiness when focusing both on our dreams and on other people in our lives. In this inspiring book, Johnson directs her attention to teaching women, in particular, a three-step model for personal advancement and happiness. She first encourages us to DARE to boldly step out, to consider disrupting life as we know it. Then she teaches us how to DREAM, to give life to the many possibilities available, whether to start a business, run a marathon, or travel the world. She shows us how to "date" our dreams (no need to commit!) and how to make space for dreams. Finally, Whitney's model brings out the businesswoman in her; she teaches us to DO, to execute our dreams. She showcases the importance of sharing dreams with others to give them life, creating your own "dream team." Rich with real stories of women who have dared to dream, DARE, DREAM, DO offers a practical framework to realize one's true potential. In her mid-twenties, Whitney found herself in New York, where she landed a secretarial job on Wall Street. With no relevant experience, and a bit shy on confidence, she contemplated her future and her dreams. Through determination and hard work, Whitney became an investment banker, moving to the analyst side of the business, executing the plans she'd laid out for herself. Naively, she thought most women were following similar paths until she started talking and found that many women were not daring to dream at all. It was because of these conversations that she started a blog in 2006, which became the inspiration for this book. DARE, DREAM, DO is full of remarkable stories of women, which will no doubt inspire others to follow suit. Although Whitney focuses on the stories of women, her blog is popular with men as well, and her advice speaks to either gender. The Game Changer is featured on C-Suite Network. Interview by Chicke Fitzgerald of the Game Changer Network as a part of the Best of the Game Changer series, showcased on C-Suite Network“Most people just laugh when they hear that the secret to success is giving. . . . Then again, most people are nowhere near as successful as they wish they were.” The Go-Giver tells the story of an ambitious young man named Joe who yearns for success. Joe is a true go-getter, though sometimes he feels as if the harder and faster he works, the further away his goals seem to be. Desperate to land a key sale at the end of a bad quarter, he seeks advice from the enigmatic Pindar, a legendary consultant referred to by his many devotees simply as the Chairman. Over the next week, Pindar introduces Joe to a series of “go-givers”: a restaurateur, a CEO, a financial adviser, a real estate broker, and the “Connector” who brought them all together. Pindar's friends teach Joe the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success and help him open himself up to the power of giving. Joe learns that changing his focus from getting to giving—putting others' interests first and continually adding value to their lives—ultimately leads to unexpected returns. Imparted with wit and grace, The Go-Giver is a classic bestseller that brings to life the old proverb “Give and you shall receive.” Nearly a decade since its original publication, the term “go-giver” has become shorthand for a defining set of values embraced by hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Today this timeless story continues to help its readers find fulfillment and greater success in business, in their personal lives and in their communities.
