In this episode of The Path, I'm joined by my longtime friend and brother Aleks Rybchinskiy—a practitioner who's walked the holistic performance path for decades and played a key role in the creation of BERSKI, a nutrient-dense organ meat snack line co-founded by Richard Blomberg of Eleiko. This conversation is for the man who's done a lot of things right—built a strong body, built a business, maybe even a family—but is still seeking more alignment with his values. We explore how nutrition, especially ancestral foods like liver, can become a tool for reclaiming energy, clarity, and leadership from the inside out. We also get real about fatherhood, time, and discerning what's truly worth showing up for.In this episode, we cover:Why liver outperforms muscle meat in protein and micronutrient contentThe problem with most liver supplements—and what “desiccated” really meansUnderstanding the labels: grass-fed vs. grass-finished vs. pasture-raisedHow Aleks reversed his father's fatty liver through daily liver intakeHow conscious nourishment supports masculine leadership and family lifeLINKS:BERSKI10% Discount Code: THEPATHWork with Mike:1:1 Coaching | Vital Man Collective | RetreatsFollow Mike:Website: Coaching.mikesalemi.ioMay 17-20th Primal Reset Retreat, Mt. “At Eleiko, we work to make people stronger for better performance in sports and life” (ELEIKO, 2024).

On this week's episode of the Escape Your Limits podcast, our guest is Roy Simonson. Whilst he may not be a household name, there are few gym-users who would not have seen or trained on equipment he designed or inspired. Roy revolutionalized the fitness industry with his game-changing strength equipment innovations. Firstly, when in his early twenties, Roy sold his company, Eagle Fitness, to CYBEX, where as Head of Product Development, he introduced its highly acclaimed VR and VR2 lines and launched more than 100 new strength and cardio products. Fast forward to 1999 and his cable-based weight stack machines, designed by his own company Ground Zero Designs, later renamed Freemotion Fitness, made it possible to train in multiple planes. This effectively launched the concept and application of ‘functional training' to the masses. Since then, Roy has gone on to design for other major equipment brand including Resolute and Eleiko. Alongside has professional success, Roy has enjoyed 30 years of competitive single speed track cycling, racing on a bike he designed himself. Roy has very little interest in self-promotion which is why you won't find him on social media. Today, Roy Simonson talks about: · How strength training products designed for CYBEX ended Nautilus' market dominance. · Creating machines that drive health, mobility, activity and fitness. · The inspiration behind Hammer Strength. · The launch of CYBEX's best-selling VR & VR2 lines. · The lack of good education in the industry. · Snowboarding and how it inspired the design of Freemotion's cable machines. · Trends and predictions. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Lorna Heyes opened CrossFit West Dublin back in 2011 when there were only a handful of CrossFit affiliates in Ireland. In 2021, she made the tough decision to sell her 10 year affiliate and move north to Ballycarry on the Antrim Coast, Northern Ireland. However, this was never going to the end of affiliate ownership for her & she has since opened CrossFit Livin - right next to where she now lives. A decade of coaching & affiliate ownership have allowed her identify what she enjoys - and it's certainly coaching. Moving from a box with over 100 members to 15 at CrossFit Livin is certainly smaller, but she feels just as welcomed & supported by the wider affiliate community. This series of episodes is sponsored by Eleiko. As Div 1 softball player & scholar at Georgia Tech. Sarah MacDonald was no stranger to an athletic lifestyle and pursuing her goals. When family brought her to Scotland CrossFit certainly rekindled that fire & ultimately led her to opening her own affiliate, CrossFit Haddington. We chat about her own journey with coaching and supporting others with a coaching development pathway before rounding out talking about plans for the future, particularly for teens and providing increased structure & support in the methodology & sport of CrossFit.This series of episodes is sponsored by Eleiko. We continue our Female Affiliate Owners Series, sponsored by Eleiko, with Oakley Woodhouse, owner of Forrest Flow CrossFit.Finding CrossFit at a relatively early age, Oaks' competitive aspirations were clear and she sacrificed a lot, along with the rest of the CrossFit JST team, to make the CrossFit Games in 2017. We talk frankly about that opportunity, how she has moved on from that achievement as an athlete, member of Seminar Staff & since early 2020, owner of Forrest Flow.Forrest Flow certainly isn't your typical affiliate - sitting in the remote woodland of Wyresdale Park - many cautioned it couldn't be done. However Oak's persevered and has created something rather unique & special at Forest Flow! This series of episodes is sponsored by Eleiko. This week's survey questions were all over the place. There wasn't a proper theme but many "random-ish" questions that had been asked back in 2020. For the podcast, we had a special guest analyst - Matt Pendergraph. He's a fellow home gym junkie and added quite a bit of insight throughout. Plus, a Q&A where he answers some questions about his equipment preferences is later in the episode. Survey Questions: (0:43) When buying gym equipment, how important is it that it was made in your country (if possible)? (1:38) What proportion of your gym was made in your country? (4:05) What do you lift with? (4:56) Is it okay to finance gym equipment? "and" Have you financed gym equipment? (6:21) Would you consider yourself an "equipment snob?" (8:21) How many people work out in your home gym? (10:24) Kabuki or Eleiko? (12:28) Do you drink a "pre-workout" before working out? (14:41) Is it worth spending $30-$40 more for a barbell that will not rust? (15:09) Battle Rope or Inertia Wave? (17:54) Do you actually save money by owning a home gym? (22:29) How many home gym Instagram accounts do you follow? (24:33) REP or Rogue Bench? Q&A with Matt Pendergraph (26:30) You've had experience with quite a few benches. What's your favorite? (27:29) What's the most overrated one you've tried? (28:13) Slinger vs. Surplus Strength? Which do you prefer? (31:17) What's your favorite attachment to go with them? (33:37) You are a master with the lever arms. What's your favorite thing to do? (34:38) There are a number of lever arms out there. Any tips for choosing the right ones? (36:59) One barbell for the rest of your life. What are you choosing? (39:13) Lastly, what are the top 3 specialty bars you've ever used? Eleiko is a Swedish based, 60+ year, family owned, seminal brand in the HALO sector founded in 1920's which has a massive following among strength athletes globally. "Quality has always been at the core of what we do," states Erik Blomberg, CEO. "We want to bring design into strength equipment, an area that's been lacking for many years . . . We're looking to create the ultimate lifting experience for people that feels as if it's part of your body." This interview is going in as a substitute for episode 79 of Barbell Buddha, the "Barbell Shrugged Thanksgiving special w/ Christmas Abbott" that took place in Sweden while visiting Eleiko's Headquarters. That episode is fun and loose and there are some gems scattered in this episode, so I encourage you to go listen to it after this interview. Dr. Galpin is a tenured University Professor with a PhD in "Human Bioenergetics". He teaches classes, publishes research, and works with athletes in the areas of health, human performance, strength & conditioning, and nutrition. If you're a fan of Chris and Barbell Shrugged you've heard his name many, many times. Andy was a colleague, former roommate, and close personal friend with Chris. I can't thank him enough for coming on the show and paying tribute to Chris's legacy and giving an honest, raw, and at some times, emotional take on Chris's life and legacy. I'm going to kick the show off with a song called “All or Nothing” by my favorite band, MuteMath. I encourage you to listen deeply to the words and carry that forward into the show. “Don't waste your whole life, on just a half try, it's all or nothing” Please enjoy this special episode of Barbell Buddha Rediscovered called “The Story of Two Chris's.”
In this episode of Chalk My Back! the boys discuss what Anas thought of the April fools prank and if he preferred talking with your current hosts or if he wants the girls to come back and replace them. Does it really matter if Josh and Abe get recasted if no one listens to their opinion? probably. We originally wanted to talk about self coaching for the beginner lifter but then talked about something far more interesting. Gym barn? Servants... I mean employees? Lifting out in the boonies? Does Abe love his wife? (Yes he does) Eleiko? Rogue? What do all these things have in common? We take a deep dive into what the boys really want in a "home gym" and learn who has the most financial skill and intelligence (Yes you guessed it, it's not Abe). All of this and more in this episode of CMB!
Get ready for quite a ride!
Events like German Throwdown are very important for new sports and it is important to have professionals taking care of them. This episode we meet Benedict Gebhardt who is the Managing director of the German Throwdown. He comes from a totally different realm of sports but fell in love with CrossFit while studying and being a semi-pro in golf in USA. In this episode we talk about how CrossFit can grow in Europe and how the future looks like in Germany. We also talk about the importance of having a fitness routine outside your regular sports such as Golf, Rugby and Ice-hockey. Benedict also tells us about his urge to open an own box and how that pivoted him into getting to know the founder of German Throwdown leading him at the end to become the man in charge. The event grew unexpectedly last year and he got sponsors like Reebok, Foodspring and Eleiko to help to run the event. This year we some changes in the lineup and the event will be more prepared for more expectators. We hope that German Throwdown will ignite the CrossFit torch in Europe for real and that it will inspire more kids to start doing CrossFit. Finals are held 11-12 November!
