Im officially in preproduction for Sex In Your 40s, a comedic short I devised. I went to see a local comedy show, and it reminded me why I stopped doing local comedy. Coalesce? More like BLOW-alesce. I got my heartbroken, but qui bono; who benefits? The audience, because it means "more terrible dating stories." I went on one to see Jackass 2 at the New Beverly, details inside. Song Sung Blue? More like Song Sung BLEW.

Snowed in, chili on the stove, and toxic romance on the screen. This week on the Binge-Watchers Podcast, Johnny Spoiler dives headfirst into Romeo Is Bleeding (1993), the sleazy neo-noir crime thriller starring Gary Oldman, Lena Olin, and Roy Scheider—a movie where everyone betrays everyone and nobody gets out clean. Before the blood hits the subway tiles, Johnny rants about hating snow, surviving real-life blizzards, bikini porch dives, and why small victories matter when winter tries to kill you. Then it's Home Video Headlines, including Dragon Ball Super news, DCU Batman rumors, a possible Darkman sequel, and three essential dead-of-winter thrillers: Wind Chill, The Last Winter, and Dead of Winter. The main event breaks down Romeo Is Bleeding—a corrupt NYC cop seduced by a ruthless Moscow crime boss—with behind-the-scenes facts, Tom Waits trivia, brutal mob moments, courtroom chaos, and why Lena Olin's Mona feels like a loaded gun aimed at the audience for the entire runtime. We talk broken ribs, real stunts, moral emptiness, and why this movie insists that redemption is a lie life doesn't care about.Johnny wraps it up with favorite bits, a Binge Later rating, unfiltered He-Man discourse, staff picks (Code 3, not The Smashing Machine), and a closing that legally has to reference Closing Time.If you love neo-noir thrillers, Gary Oldman performances, toxic romance movies, mob betrayals, and dark 90s crime films that feel like they hate you personally—this episode is for you.Get Meatzy https://tr.ee/GetMeatzyJohnnyDrink Olipop use code BWPOD https://tr.ee/PopJohnny
Welcome to another episode of the Geek Freaks Podcast! In this session, hosts Frank and Jonathan dive deep into the psychology of fictional resistance, analyze the gritty evolution of a fan-favorite Sith, and discuss why the upcoming He-Man movie is embracing its vibrant roots. Episode Summary Are we living in an Empire? Frank and Jonathan kick off the show by questioning our fascination with fictional rebellions. From the underground movements in The Handmaid's Tale and Star Trek to the reality-shattering resistance of The Matrix, we break down which groups actually stand a chance. We also provide a full reaction to the Maul: Shadow Lord trailer, exploring Dave Filoni's darker shift in Star Wars animation. Finally, we look at the meta-fantasy world of the new Masters of the Universe film and share our latest HBO watchlist recommendations including Hacks and The Pit. Timestamps and Topics 00:00:00 – Intro, Question of the Week: Rebels in fiction we cheer for . 00:04:23 – Quick real-life check-in and keeping it together through a stressful news cycle . 00:05:08 – Star Wars: Maul: Shadow Lord trailer reaction and what the POV shift could mean . 00:11:13 – Masters of the Universe trailer talk, Jared Leto as Skeletor, tone, and first impressions . 00:16:29 – God of War series update: Cast talk, what fans should expect, and where the show could land. 00:22:05 – Fable showcase reaction: Humor, vibe, and why this reboot could work. 00:26:48 – Marvel's Wonder Man spotlight: Who he is, why he matters, and what the show might be going for. 00:39:58 – Release-week plan for Wonder Man and quick network updates. 00:42:48 – Weekly recommendations: Starfleet Academy, Hacks, and The Pit. 00:45:06 – Wrap-up. Key Takeaways Effective Rebellion: Jonathan argues that "The Dawn" from The Handmaid's Tale is a superior rebel group due to their infiltration tactics, whereas the Maquis were too easily dismantled. The Maul Evolution: The upcoming Shadow Lord series aims for a darker, "Rated R" feel, focusing on Maul's pursuit of freedom through the criminal underworld rather than the Jedi/Sith binary. Critique of the Jedi: The hosts discuss how the Jedi Order often pursued "control" under the guise of "balance," making Maul's perspective more relatable to some viewers. Embracing the Vibrant: Unlike many "dark and gritty" reboots, the new Masters of the Universe is leaning into the colorful, fun, and meta aspects of the original 80s property. Memorable Quotes "When did we vote for the Empire? Why did we end up this way?" – Frank "The Dawn... they are so well embedded. They're very sneaky." – Jonathan "The Jedi Order is not perfect either... the balance they were pursuing was not balance. It was control." – Jonathan "Justice comes at the tip of a lightsaber." – Frank Call to Action If you enjoyed this deep dive, please subscribe and leave us a review on your favorite podcast platform! The new MOTU trailer shares He-Man's pronouns, but with action this hot, his preferred verb must be “fuck” — as in “fuck ice, this movie will melt your face harder than Skeletor's.” Plus, McDonald's is bringing back Changeables Happy Meals—and those little bots have us so thirsty, fuck ice, fill that small soft drink up to the brim. And these Dunder Mifflin-approved Fortnite skins are so cold, you'll think “fuck ice” is the new “that's what she said.” It's The Reluctant Adult Podcast. As noted by the recent Tobies, awards season continues in full flight, so it's no surprise to have The Oscars drop their nominations just in time for Matt and Julian to break them down. 'Sinners' taking home 16 noms sets an Oscars record and (more importantly) validates Julian's recent Tobie pick. Plus, the guys return to a more traditional news format with headlines about James Bond, Game of Thrones, He-Man and more! Finally, the guys look into their crystal balls, gazing into the future, to make entertainment-based predictions for the year 2026. How will the WB/Netflix deal play out? Will Star Wars have a hit with 'The Mandalorian and Grogu'? Will Nolan's 'The Odyssey' be as big as 'Oppenheimer'? Only the ToB hosts can tell you! (No future lotto tickets or sports almanacs unfortunately)

As if on cue, several mainstream media outlets decided to write articles about "all the right-wingers" who are furious about He-Man's pronouns in the Masters of the Universe trailer. At the EXACT SAME TIME. But a lot of people got it was (probably) just a joke, and many more didn't care because MOTU is pretty dead with the general public. So what's going on here? Do they WANT to stir up unnecessary 'Culture War' drama for clicks and ad revenue? In this episode of DreamMachine, Arun and Patricia take a break watching DreamWorks Dragons to watch the 2018 Netflix animated series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. Based on the 1985 series She-Ra: Princess of Power, a spinoff of the 1983 series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, She-Ra focuses on Adora, a soldier of the villain Hordak's army The Horde who wishes to conquer the planet Etheria to bring peace to the land. One night, Adora and her friend Catra sneak out to the Whispering Woods and she finds a sword. After picking up the sword, she becomes She-Ra and is destined to stop Hordak from his evil plans. She leaves the Horde, joins two companions named Glimmer and Bow, and together they reunite the princesses from the other lands and stop the Horde from conquering Etheria. When the series premiered on Netflix, it received critical acclaim from critics and viewers with its engaging story, memorable characters, LBGTQ representation, and making necessary updates to the original source material. It has been called one of the greatest animated series of the 2010s and one of the few times a remake to a classic show is better than the original. What did Arun and Patricia think of this new incarnation of She-Ra?
