Os contamos en este podcast como es el compromiso neutro en carbono en 2050 para el grupo BMW. Se trata de suprimir la emisión de más de 200 M de toneladas de co2 ya en 2030 que son 20 veces lo que emite una ciudad como Barcelona al año. En 2023 ya tenderá 15 modelo EV en 2025 2M de coches eléctricos en carretera y en 2050 que la mitad de los BMW en carretera sean eléctricos. En 2030 MINI será ya eléctrica completamente también. El acuerdo con Gravity Wave se ha hecho por la calidad de las personas que lo integran, porque es muy tangible porque se puede tocar los plásticos que se reciclan, el tercero la cercanía porque el mar Mediterraneo es el más cercano y sucio y porque todo lo reciclado es para hacer mobiliario urbano y a lo urbano MINI le debe mucho. En 1959 ya MINI ya nació para solucionar un problema de carestía porque había la crisis del petróleo y el MINI nació como un coche que consuma poco para su público. Ahora lo que quiere es que emita menos. Fabricar y vender coches que no contaminen nuestras ciudades. Primero porque la legislación lo obliga y lo segundo porque la sociedad ya lo demanda. Y es que el MINI eléctrico ya se fabricó en 2008 (600 unidades) cuando nadie estaba obligado a hacerlo ni la sociedad lo demandaba. Los pasos de MINI en la electrificación lo podíamos resumir en: 2008 Mini E, 2017 Mini PHEV, 2019 Mini electric y en 2030 toda una gama de vehículos cien por cien eléctricos. 2024 puede ser el año mas importante de Mini en su historia por la renovación que va a suceder. Nuevo interior de MINI basado en el MINI clásico. El interior se basa en una frase que dice que el mundo tiene que quedar mejor después de fabricar un MINI. Por eso solo habrá en su interior lo estrictamente necesario. Máxima de MINI: Reducción de co2 en toda la cadena de suministro, reducir las emisiones de co2 en todo el ciclo de vida del coche y potenciar la economía circular con una gestión eficiente de los recursos. Comparación del ciclo de vida de las tecnologías donde los BEV mejoran al de los modelos de combustión. ncrepar gradualmente el uso de materiales reciclados en hasta un 50% como los plásticos de los paragolpes o paneles el aluminio de las llantas o el motor o los tejidos del interior. Mini no va a utilizar nunca más pieles de animales. MINI se hace vegana. Cada año caen 8M de toneladas de plástico al mar. Casi el 80% son redes de pesca. Modelo de negocio de Gravity Wave es reciclar, transformar, crecer, limpiar, reciclar y volver a empezar. Trabajan en Grecia, Italia, España y van a empezar en Egipto. Mini se compromete a limpiar este año 10.000kg de plástico del mar para producir elementos de valor. La marca alemana lo hace con una colaboración 360 en la que se recicla, se transforma y se conciencia. Han hecho bancos y papeleras hechos con plásticos del mar para ayuntamientos costeros. PPE platform the same as Porsche Macan, it's sister/cousin car.  BMW i4 the i4 is decidedly mainstream in appearance and specification. The BMW i4 will have two versions available—The eDrive40 will have 335-horsepower and rear-wheel drive, with estimated to have a range of 300 miles from an 80.0-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack. The all-wheel-drive M50 with a maximum of 536-horsepower is the performance version with a zero to 60-mph acceleration in under 4 seconds and a lower range of 245 miles. The price will be around $55,000. £74,845  if you spec it properly for the M50 with the 20” Bicolour Jet Black double-spokes, and BMW blue metallic paint - BMW iX1 With the i3 not getting an immediate replacement, the iX1 will become BMW's entry-level electric car when it arrives in 2022. Essentially an electric version of the X1, in the same way the iX3 (shown above) is an electrified X3, the new car is expected to be offered with battery size options of 38 and 74kWh, producing a respective range of approximately 120 and 240 miles. BMW have shared a lot of charge curve charts and it can add 90 miles of range in just ten minutes at over 200kW charge speed. - BMW iX M60 Whilst some countries don't have the iX yet, there's already a spicy version on the way. The M version will have uprated suspension, less weight, possibly carbon ceramic brakes and aero tweaks Production will start in March, expect 600 hp and 4 seconds to 60 mph. - Bollinger B1 - It's boxy, it's unique, and you can remove parts of it to turn it from a cab truck to an SUV. There's a huge 142-kWh battery which somehow only does 200 miles but the performance from the dual motors is strong at 614 hp. - Citroen Ami - This will arrive in the UK in spring, tops out at 28 mph and had 42 miles of range and yet it already has a small army of fans. But will they part with £6,000 for a 2 seat city car. Expect the cargo version to follow later in the year, and possibly a subscription option too like France. - Cupra Born - We've already reviewed the Cupra Born ahead of its arrival early next year and we were impressed by the looks, the battery range, the finish and the chassis set-up. It's let down somewhat by a below-par infotainment system, the fact that maximum power is only available for 30 seconds at a time and that, so far, it's only available in rear-wheel drive.  -The Born will come with 45kWh, 58kWh and 77kWh battery options, giving a maximum range of 335 miles in the top-of-the-line versions. · Original Source : https://www.investors.com/news/10-hottest-electric-cars-trucks-suvs-of-2022/ - Fisker Ocean - 17.1-inch infotainment display is a point of difference, as it can rotate from landscape to portrait, and we love the styling. As for specs, expecting 18 minute 80% charge on a 350kW HPC. They promise "vehicle to load" as the new Hyundai group cars do. - Ford F-150 Lightning - “563 hp and 775 pound-feet of torque are provided by dual electric motors. Two battery options offer 230 miles of range from the standard pack and 300 miles for the Extended Range model. You also get a huge “frunk” (front trunk), thanks to the lack of an engine, the ability to tow up to 10,000 lbs, and the Pro Power Onboard system, which provides up to 9.6 kW of power for all manner of tools, electronics, microwave ovens, and other appliances via 11 outlets spread across the cab, bed, and front boot.” · Original Source : https://www.wired.co.uk/article/18-best-evs-coming-in-2022 - Genesis GV60 - The third car to roll out on the e-gmp platform, this will be up again the Audi e-tron, BMW iX3 and iX, I-PACE, Merc EQC and VW ID.5.  Cameras for mirrors work well, the large 77.4-kWh battery, RWD spec gets 228-hp 280 miles.  But get the performance version for sub-4 second 0-60 times. - Genesis Electrified G80 As the name suggests, this is a battery-powered version of the G80, which comes from Genesis, a new luxury brand from the Hyundai Motor Group. Visually almost identical to a petrol-powered G80 that launched in 2020, the electric model has a claimed range of over 300 miles and an 800-volt system architecture that enables super-fast charging of up to 350kW. Also, WTF mode hits 60 mph in three seconds. Due to that huge pack the range will be 350 miles per charge, and on a 350kW HOC expect to add 100 miles in 10 minutes. - Hyundai Ioniq 6    - Lucid Air - A bit of a cheat here because the Air Dream Edition is already on sale and in customers hands, but that's really only the first 520 buyers paying $169,000. - Next up we'll get the more affordable trim level and for me that's the real start of Lucid.  - Lotus Evija - “The first British all-electric hypercar sports a preposterous quad-motor powertrain (two per axle) that outputs some 2,000 hp—yes, two thousand—and can go from standstill to 186 mph in under nine seconds. That's five seconds quicker than a Bugatti Chiron. 215 miles on a single charge. The cost of such performance is £2 million, and only 130 cars will be made. Rivian R1S The seven-seat SUV sibling to the R1T starts at $70,000. Four motors (one on each wheel) provide a combined 750 hp from the electric drivetrain, while drivers can enjoy supercar-like speeds of 0-60 times in three seconds and an estimated 316 miles range - Maserati MC20 - All we know at this stage is the car will come in 2022 and be a proper Maserati supercar, so in excess of 700 hp and enough to put the fossil versions of their cars to shame. Tri motors, with two on the rear and using the front for more performance. Do you need to do 60mph in 2 seconds? Probably not but that's what they're promising. - Mercedes-Benz EQE - The Mercedes EQE will be to the E-Class what the EQS is to the S-Class — a high-tech, aerodynamic electric equivalent with a class-leading battery range. A large 90kWh battery should give the EQE a range of over 400 miles between charges. Along with its approximate price-point of £60,000 will make it a strong and direct rival for the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4 Original Source : https://www.driving.co.uk/news/new-cars/nine-of-the-most-exciting-new-cars-arriving-in-2022/ - NIO ET5 - In 2022, this electric vehicle will join the previously announced ET7 as a second sedan offering from NIO.  NIO promises 1,000 km (~621 mi) of (CLTC) range.  Other features include LiDAR technology to support NIO Autonomous Driving (NAD), NIO Aquila Super Sensing, and NIO Adam Super Computing, allowing the new EV to gradually achieve safe autonomous driving in scenarios such as highways, urban areas, parking, and battery swaps. - Nissan Ariya Nissan's second electric car, and to be the flagship of the range, the Ariya is due out in 2022. Up to 310 miles of range is on offer, while a performance model will produce 389bhp. A compact hatchback, the Cat is to be priced from just £25,000 in the UK, yet promises an impressive range of 209 – or around double that of the similarly priced Mazda MX-30, or the pricier Honda e and Mini E. - A £28,000 version of the Ora Cat, equipped with a larger 63kWh battery, promises 261 miles of range. This will share parts with the Volvo XC90 all electric, rumoured to be called Embla.  We're thinking range just under 400 miles and 20 minutes for 80% full charge.  Porsche Macan EV As mentioned with the Audi Q6 e-tron this will be on the PPE platform, but expect more sports performance and tuning. Plus will sell better than a Taycan. - Renault Megane E-Tech - Tesla Cybertruck - When will this arrive? Some say it's weeks away from test builds in Austin, some say none will appear in 2022. It's certainly a new production ramp for the stainless steel. - Pricing has now disappeared from the website so good luck with that $39,900 price. They still say it can tow 14,000 lbs and will go up to 500 miles with a sub 3 seconds 0-60mph. Don't write off Tesla, but equally, don't expect anything soon. It's all about their custom made 4680 cells. - Volkswagen ID.5 Following on from the ID.3 and ID.4, Volkswagen's third purpose-built electric car will land in 2022. The ID.5 is VW's largest EV to date, taking on a family-friendly, mid-size SUV form and to be priced from around £47,000. A 77kWh battery pack offers a claimed range of up to 323 miles, while a maximum charge rate of 135kW will see a charge to 80 percent completed in under 30 minutes. Con Marco Tronchetti Provera, amministratore delegato di Pirelli e Stefano Ronzoni, direttore di Mini BMW Italia Sono passati 20 anni da quando Mini è stata acquistata dal gruppo BMW, e per l'occasione Electa pubblica il libro "The Big Love - Mini, una storia (d'amore) lunga 20 anni". Nata nel 1959 da un'idea di sir Alec Issigonis, la Mini è diventata fin da subito un oggetto di culto. Un'auto iconica che rappresenta uno stile di vita e che nel 2030 sarà il primo il brand totalmente elettrico del gruppo – commenta Stefano Ronzoni, direttore di Mini Italia. Un'altra icona intramontabile del nostro paese è il calendario Pirelli, firmato quest'anno dal cantante rock Bryan Adams, che da oltre vent'anni affianca alla musica la sua passione per la fotografia. ‘On the road' è il titolo del calendario, con immagini che raccontano la vita ‘sulla strada' di celebri artisti come Cher, Iggy Pop o Rita Ora. The update was confirmed by CEO Elon Musk on Twitter Monday morning." says Simon at Teslarati: " owners of electric cars such as the Model S 40, Model S 60, and Model S 70 will be able to gain extra range for their electric cars. This is made possible by Tesla equipping the vehicles with a larger battery pack that is software-locked. The Model S 40, for example, is equipped with a 60 kWh battery that’s software-limited to 40 kWh. Tesla is yet to confirm if the Standard Range Model 3 will also have its full battery capacity unlocked.  Musk’s recent tweet seems to confirm that free unlimited Supercharging will also be enabled for owners in areas that are affected by the ongoing CA wildfires. Whenever a trial vehicle enters a controlled zone, its electric-drive mode is triggered and the zero-emission driving green miles are documented. Linux's regular filesystem disk cache is very predictable; if you do disk IO, the cache will relentlessly grow to use all of your free memory. This sometimes disconcerts people when free reports that there's very little memory actually free, but at least you're getting value from your RAM. This is so reliable and regular that we generally don't think about 'is my system going to use all of my RAM as a disk cache', because the answer is always 'yes'. (The general filesystem cache is also called the page cache.) This is unfortunately not the case with the ZFS ARC in ZFS on Linux (and it wasn't necessarily the case even on Solaris). ZFS has both a current size and a 'target size' for the ARC (called 'c' in ZFS statistics). When your system boots this target size starts out as the maximum allowed size for the ARC, but various events afterward can cause it to be reduced (which obviously limits the size of your ARC, since that's its purpose). In practice, this reduction in the target size is both pretty sticky and rather mysterious (as ZFS on Linux doesn't currently expose enough statistics to tell why your ARC target size shrunk in any particular case). The net effect is that the ZFS ARC is not infrequently quite shy and hesitant about using memory, in stark contrast to Linux's normal filesystem cache. The default maximum ARC size starts out as only half of your RAM (unlike the regular filesystem cache, which will use all of it), and then it shrinks from there, sometimes very significantly, and once shrunk it only recovers slowly (if at all). It’s labeled as being the “first purely electrically powered premium small car” (what about the BMW i3?) and combines just about everything we like about the Mini with a zero-emissions powertrain." reports Motor1.com: "At the heart of the Mini Cooper SE is an electric motor located underneath the hood where you’d normally find a gasoline or even a diesel engine. It produces 135 kilowatts (181 horsepower) channeled to the front wheels promising to lend the car that go-kart feeling thanks to an “innovative driving dynamics system with wheel slip limiting close to the actuator.” the Mini Cooper SE goes from 0 to 60 kph (37 mph) in 3.9 seconds and needs 7.3 seconds to complete the 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) task. Interestingly, Mini says the all-electric hatchback can keep up the pace “effortlessly” with ICE-powered sports cars over the first 60 meters (nearly 200 feet). Flat out, it will do an electronically governed 150 kph (93 mph). Installed in the floor is a 32.6-kWh lithium-ion battery pack with enough juice for 235 to 270 kilometers (146 to 168 miles). Mini points out the info about range “has already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle and adapted to NEDC for comparison purposes.” According to Automotive News, the electric hatch is estimated to have an EPA-certified range of 114 miles (183 km). To entice buyers, Mini will throw in a lot of standard goodies: LED headlights, two-zone automatic AC, 6.5-inch infotainment with navigation, and even auxiliary heating. The so-called Pininfarina GT is based on the Revero GT and, as its name suggests, has been designed by Pininfarina." according to Anthony Karr from Motor1.com: "The official press release says this is the “first result of a partnership with Pininfarina, the iconic Italian design and engineering house,” which hints at potential future products developed in cooperation between the two companies. While the coupe has the exterior dimensions of the Revero GT, the overall appearance is sportier thanks to the shorter rear overhang and the long hood. While the questions asked were not disclosed to us, the brand claims that a resulting average range of 75 miles was deemed “sufficient”." says BMW blog: "MINI also learned from this survey that the majority of customers find EVs to be best used in city driving or for commuting. The latter of which is assuming it’s a relatively short commute. This information is likely to factor into the size of battery packs used in upcoming EV MINIs. In just the last few months there have been a huge number of price changes, particularly on the Model 3" says a Forbes article which goes on to track every price change since, a 12 point list which follows the changing face of Autopilot and the $35,000 Model 3 which came and (partially) went. It's a toughtful article by Brad Templeton and talks about buyers remorse, how cellphones have been commodotised. "Elon Musk has had a few things to say about this. First, he points out that prices on other maker's cars fluctuate all the time due to specials, dealer rebates, and plain old negotiation. He says Tesla is just doing it transparently and should not be blamed for doing the right thing. There is some merit to this, but the fact that somebody can get $3,000 off a car by negotiating at the dealer does not affect the price of existing cars nearly as much. Those that do not meet the quota themselves can purchase credits from rivals that exceed it, but if they do not have enough credits they face government fines for their operations in China. Singulato is developing a mini EV which it hopes to release later this year. This will generate credits for the startup, some of which Toyota will then purchase. Well good morning, good afternoon and good evening, wherever you are in the world, hello and welcome to the Thursday 12th July edition of EV News Daily. It’s Martyn Lee here with the news you need to know about electric cars and the move towards sustainable transport.   MINI ELECTRIC LOOKS ALMOST READY Let's talk about the BMW Mini! I had a petrol one for a year in 2008, black, petrol bags of fun even not the Cooper variant. Around that time before I was interested in EVs there was the original Mini E, it was a pilot program and is now discontinued. I'd have another Mini tomorrow as they're great for British roads, small enough to park and big enough for long journeys. So fast forward 10 years and I'm excited about the Mini EV. Carscoops says: "Our sneaky shutterbugs have caught the prototype (both inside and out) undergoing testing out in the wild. The prototype was also spied plugged in to the mains in a dedicated EV charging/parking spot. And the grille is all covered up, suggesting that there’s no internal-combustion engine inside. So unlike the Countryman PHEV, this prototype clearly isn’t a hybrid." Carscoops has 14 pics of the mini in yellow swirly camoflouage and I'll put a link in the show notes so you can see, but they do have just one of the inside. The dash has black cloth covering it, another sign they're getting close. There are three extra screens of test equipment, one that looks like a computer monitor on a large box on the passenger seat with two smaller screens about the size of an iPad mini stuck to the dash. In the footwells of the passenger side are a mass of wires. And how about this, you know on a bus or coach or train, you see those metal hammers often behind glass, with a sign which says "in case of emergency, break glass and smash window to escape"? I can just see one of those taped to the drivers door next to the handle...so are the windows either locked up or are the electric windows disabled? Either way I think it's a sign they're getting closer to production.   Meanwhile, India Times reports: "BMW Group and the biggest Chinese SUV brand, Great Wall Motor, announced a partnership Tuesday to produce electric MINI vehicles in China as global automakers ramp up development under pressure from Beijing."   Auto brands in China are required to make electric vehicles at least 10 percent of their sales starting next year or buy credits from competitors that exceed their quotas. Later, they face pressure to raise those sales in order to satisfy fuel efficiency requirements that increase annually.   The last I heard, Western markets will have the Mini EV made here in the UK in Oxford but given the disastrous process of Brexit and trying to untangle British manufacturing from a tariff free customs union, we're really worried that car markers will find it both easier and cheaper to move production to the European Union. Leaving the EU is currently looking very bad for the auto industry in particular.   https://www.carscoops.com/2018/07/mini-electric-looks-almost-ready-plug-ev-market/#lg=1&slide=13     TESLA Q2 VOLUMES ALMOST EQUAL TO JAGUAR The market intelligence company AID has been tracking Tesla sales vs Jaguar: "Tesla is already snapping at the heels of Jaguar. The question now is, as AIDs segment observers have put it most topically, based on Teslas latest sales surge it is not if Tesla will outsell Jaguar on the global prestige sector sales scene, but how soon?" They say:" Figures compiled by AID every month reveal that this second quarter, thanks in large measure to the long-expected but belated sales bounce from Teslas all-new Model 3 in its domestic US backyard, worldwide sales of Tesla skyrocketed to 40,740 units, according to Tesla. In a world were almost everything is relative, that directly compares to the only slightly higher 44,124 worldwide Jaguar sales during the same second quarter." So as I saw on Kyle Field from Clean Technica say today on Twitter, lazy headline writers might have to stop using the phrase Tesla Killer, maybe they need to start calling Elon Musk #JaguarKiller The thing I would like to add is the unknown of the I-PACE sales which Q3 will include.   http://www.eagleaid.com/AID-Newsletter-preorder-1813preview-d-Tesla-already-hot-on-Jaguars-heels.htm   MUSK GOES TO CHINA, BUT IT IS TOO LATE FOR TESLA I know I'm a simpleton who thinks out loud on a wildly unpopular podcast, but I do get confused. Jim Collins at Forbes seems to think Tesla has missed the boat to sell cars in China. Jim says "It Is Too Late For Tesla To Ride The Chinese EV Boom". Let see what Jim says in this Forbes article: "Tesla's huge head start in the Western markets for high-end BEVs simply does not exist in China. As evidenced by the rash of senior executive departures in recent months, Elon Musk seems to like to do things on his own. But the Chinese market, which has flourished through so many East-West partnerships, is a very different animal, and Tesla simply does not have the capital to compete there." He seems to conclude that because they're dominant in the U.S. they should be dominant in China. I don't think I've ever heard Elon or Tesla say that. Just that they need to build a Gigafactory on every continent in order to make the kind of cars, at the kind of prices, which local people desire and can afford. It's weird, the headline bears little relevance to the article. Has Tesla missed the boat as they say? New Energy Vehicle sales are on target to double, it's a market in massive growth. Unlike in the U.S. where they literally had to CREATE a market for cars, there's an exploding one in China, so that head start which apparently they can't be successful without contradicts the facts that when Tesla launch there wasn't even a race. Let alone a head start. HERE'S WHY YOU SHOULD BE AN EARLY ADOPTER Huffington Post say you should be an early adopter, and not just of cars. But of electric bikes too. "Another reason to get on the EV hype early? The chance to try a whole other way of transport. Step up: electric motorbikes. Richard Jordan, director of Super Soco, supplies 22 motorcycle dealers with his brand, which has been dubbed the ’Tesla of motorbikes.′ “Our bikes are legally the same as a 50cc motorbike, so they’re light, nimble and nippy through traffic – the ideal commuting machine. Cost per mile is tiny – around 1p – so commuting into London costs under 10p, compared with a travelcard cost of around £7 per day [based on a weekly card]. We’ve already made around 100 Model 3 Performance cars for test drives in stores." On last week’s edition of Ride The Lightning with Ryan McCaffrey he was speculating if they would rather you took a base model or Performance model for a test, which would be best for customers, so he tweeted Elon and that was the response. Looks like they've gone down the avenue of letting people rive the P3D and hoping, if they’d planned on a base model, to up sell them. That makes sense, basic business practice is to try and add value to a customer for a price. All that Anti-selling looks over, remember when Elon would tweet Model 3 reservation holders and say they should be buying a Model S?! By the way I've been playing too much with the configurator now it's opened up to everyone - i'm thinking white multi-coat paint with white interior is mine.   TESLA REGISTERS MORE THAN 6,000 NEW MODEL 3 DUAL MOTOR AWD VINS Simon Alvarez at Teslarati, who incidentally got a retweet from Elon recently, has been tracking VIN numbers too by keeping an eye on the Twitter use @Model3VINs: "Tesla has registered a large batch of 6,032 new Model 3 VINs recently, with almost all of them corresponding to the Dual Motor AWD variant of the compact electric car. The new vehicle identification filings come at a time when Tesla is actively pushing its deliveries for the Model 3. This recent filing stands as yet another sign that Tesla is well on its way to sustaining its production rate of 5,000 Model 3 per week this third quarter"   TESLA PICKUP TIMES ARE THE BOTTLENECK With so many people to get a Model 3 out to, Fred at Electrek has obtained an email to customers where Tesla are moving from making handover a one-hour hoopla, where your car is uncovered from a silk cloth draped over it, to a 5 minute quickie. The email says: "Learn about your Model 3: You’ll be driving home in as little as 5 minutes from your arrival, so please review the following resources below before your appointment until you are confident and ready to drive off:   Watch Model 3 Tutorial Videos Review Model 3 Owner’s Manual Visit your local Tesla Showroom for any additional questions Sign & Drive Pickup Appointment Check In Paperwork Signing 5 minute Vehicle Handoff in which we will show you the essentials to enjoy your drive home: Charging Bundle Key Access Vehicle Start/Stop Park/Reverse/Neutral/Drive   Tesla has produced 9 short videos to show different features of the Model 3 in preparation for this program." This was inevitable in some way you can't spend an hour making a song & dance over every buyers. Not when you have 5,000 cars to hand over, and 5,000 next week, and 5,000 the week after! You get my drift.
